His mouth has started to itch. He knew this familliar sensation. He had had this experience since he was first born. As a pure-blood, the creatures had to follow his orders. His name was Flame, Experne Flame.
Flame changed into his uniform and went out of the dorms. He didn’t want to be late for this was the first time he had ever entered a school. Weird but interesting.....
Flame thought as he saw the white and blue building. Flame knew why his name was given. Everytime he hungered for blood, his eyes would turn red, like it was on fire. Therefore, his name was given. He didn’t hate it, but people out there do not seem to like it. He went into the classroom and waited for the teacher’s arrival. When the teacher called out for his name, he stepped out and walked to the front of the class. “Everyone! This is Experne Flame, he is a new pupil so treat him well, will you?” the teacher said. Yes, treating me well would not be needed, some blood would be enough...
The thought of blood burned his eyes.
“You could have that seat beside Rika.” The form teacher, Mr Colume said, pointing to a female student. Flame took his seat beside the beautiful girl whose skin was smooth and her silky blonde hair reached her knees. Looking at her, Flame’s bloody instinct triggered and he almost lunged forward but stopped himself in time. “Hi, I’m Rika Rane! Nice to meet you!” The girl, the pretty girl he had fought so badly over his instincts for said. He thought, This should be perfect, I’ve finally found blood source for the day!
But even though he wanted to drink the blood of the innocent girl, something stopped him. And at the same time, his sharp sense of the nose told him that the girl’s blood would be worthwhile to go through the trouble. He had smelled something that normal human can’t. The pure and tasty blood that the girl, Rika, had.
It was breaktime.....The fangs had emerged from Flame mouth as he went to the school laboratory secretly and fished out the tubes of fresh human blood that the scientist in this school was supposed to test on. But Flame doesn’t care. He wanted blood before he tore into a terrible rage.
Flame didn’t want his blood-stained mouth to be seen. He went to what the humans call a washroom to wash his mouth and his hands. When he went out, he saw Rika standing in front of him, smiling at him. “Hi Flame! I’ve come to help you around this school.” On their way, Rika said “I think Flame is a nice name! Who gave you that name?” Flame did not want that girl to be suspicious when he did not say anything so he answered. “Really? Well, thanks. My mother gave me that name. I think you have got quite a name there too.” “No way..... You’ve got to joking! People always make fun of my name. But.....its always been like that so I don’t really mind.” They continued their way down the stairs. Quietly, Flame thought about what her blood would taste. Although he know that it would be the tastiest he had ever tasted, he was curious. The tubes of blood hadn’t filled me anyway...
He attempted to ignore the blood-drinking thoughts as he followed her down the stairs which reminded him of his home, where he would crawl up and down on it. He was scared of that staircase as the staircase in his house was rumoured in their family to be... The Stairs Of Doom...
Flame could not control the rage anymore. The girl had found him at the dark basement.
Deserted...soiled... destroyed... Yes. He was in that kind of basement, and that girl had found him. This time, he yearned for her blood. Fangs protruded from Flame’s gum as his sharp teeth sinked into the girl’s neck. Rika tried to scream but Flame’s hand covered her mouth, muffling her vain attempt to yell. Flame gulped down the girl’s blood. He had been right. The girl’s blood tasted perfect. He wanted to continue drinking but something told him to let the girl live. Finishing his last gulp and leaving some blood for the girl to live, he found the girl fainted in his hands. A weakling, huh?
He picked himself up and carried the girl with him. Licking the blood away from his lips, he climbed into the black car together with the girl in his hands.
Rika woke up, much to her surprise, she found herself in a room filled with pictures and stickers of blood. She was terrified, she tried to stand up, but her feet gave way and she fell to the red-black bed. “Ugh.....” Rika tried again, but to no avail. Her legs were just too weak due to the lack of blood. She was still shivering, her eyes wide open, she experienced it. She was bitten by a vampire. Suddenly, the door opened and Rika saw Flame standing in the doorway. Rika backed away, afraid to make any contact with the vampire. Flame stepped towards Rika as he gently caressed her face, Rika flinched. She felt afraid, she was trembling all over as the vampire got closer. “What are you so afraid of?” Flame asked, “Have you made another contact with another vampire before?” Rika stiffened when she heard that. She had encounters with vampires. The first was with a gentle vampire who she saved by the riverbank. But, the second encounter was the one that took everything away from her. Her happiness, her family, everything. She had tried to act happy, wishing that she could forget everything. But upon hearing that, vivid memories flashed back in her mind. Rika burst into tears, she had tried to lead a happy life with the chairman of the school who had adopted her. But all seems hopeless, memories of blood splatting all over the place, her family who risked their lives to protect her came back. She shook her head, wishing her memories were erased.
Arms closed around Rika as she found herself face-to-face with Flame. “Ugh!” Rika tried to break free from Flame. Looking at him made her tears flow continuously, she was frightened. Flame held tight, controlling not to hurt Rika but at the same time, not letting her break free. “No! Go away! Don’t touch me! Please!”, Rika shouted. Flame glared at her, she shuddered. “Shut up, or else,” was all he said. She shivered at the menacing threat the voice carried. "Ugh..." Tears rolled down her face profusely. She could not stop crying.
