Dahmer became aware that it was relatively easy to pick up young men and as he was living with just his grandmother he had a relative sort of privacy at home. The victim was Steven Walter Tuomi. This was Dahmer's second murder.
(46) In the end, Jeffrey Dahmer's grandmother, though she loved her grandson, got tired of his strange behaviour and he had to leave. (54) Dahmer is most famous for the fact that he would eat parts of his victims. It is very rare for serial killers to eat the flesh of their victims. This fact makes the known cannibal serial killers all the more infamous. There are not a huge amount of killers where we know for a fact that they ate parts of their victims and so verified killers who fall into this category are (unavoidably) all the more macabre and morbidly fascinating.
(55) Dr Eric Hickey, professor of forensic psychology at Walden University, estimated that around only around five to ten out of every two thousand serial killers are cannibals.
(56) Given that his victims were mostly black, it has been speculated that there was a racist motive in Dahmer's selection of victims. The evidence for this seems weak though. These people often turned out to be black because Dahmer lived in a black neighbourhood.

(67) The way Dahmer got the victims back to his apartment was to offer them money for a photo shoot or sex. They evidently didn't detect any danger from him and so took the chance to make some extra cash. Dahmer was bespectacled and mild in temperament and speech so he wasn't someone who raised obvious alarm bells or seemed dangerous.

(91) Dahmer is a suspect in the 1981 murder of a six year-old boy named Adam Walsh in Hollywood, Florida in 1981. Adam was found decapitated two weeks after he went missing. Jeffrey Dahmer lived in Florida at the time of this awful murder and decapitation was part of his usual MO. There is some circumstantial evidence which possibly places Dahmer at the scene of this crime. A serial killer named Otis Toole confessed to Adam's murder although he later backtracked on this confession. It is impossible to say for sure either way but the general perception is that Dahmer probably wasn't involved in Adam's death. Dahmer was questioned about Adam Walsh by the police and denied he had anything to do with this dreadful murder.
