Introduction

There have always been rumours that various famous people have been replaced by a double.

Why are celebrities replaced by doubles? Often it is said that a celebrity has died, and a double takes that celebrities place so the career can continue and money can still be made. Also the celebrity may have been killed by someone who manages them as they did not like that celebrities personality. Some very outlandish and sinister reasons for killing celebrities and been put forward - including Satanic cults, the illuminati and even shape shifting extra terrestrial lizards carrying out the murders.

Where do the doubles come from? One theory is that they are real people who look like the celebrity they replaced. Suspicions are raised by a celebrity changing their behaviour and personality. Also celebrities who have - allegedly - been replaced by other people have slight differences in their faces, body etc which are pointed out by proponents of the double theory.

Some people do look like certain celebrities - look at he celebrity lookalike industry for example. Also there is a doppleganger theory - that everyone has an exact double somewhere in the world.

Another idea is that some celebrities have been killed and replaced by a clone. Human cloning is being researched and is a possibility that it will be officially revealed to be possible in the near future. It has been a staple of science-fiction tales for many years. but it had not been achieved yet. A sheep was cloned in 1996. Dolly was cloned by somatic cell nuclear transfer (SCNT). Scientists are looking to use cloning for health benefits, such as using stem cell therapy to treat to treat heart disease, diabetes, and spinal cord injuries and even grow replacement organs for transplant. But, some feel that humans can be cloned, and that celebrities are being replaced by full human clones. Naturally these clones act slightly differently from the human they are cloned from. And the changes in personality of certain celebrities have led some to believe they are clones.

Also as celebrities - musicians, actor etc, are a part of performance art and popular culture, many make fun of the double theory, leaving hints in their music etc. And of course conspiracy theorists feel these are real hints to prove the existence of a double.

There is a theory that a secret society called Illuminati is running the World. They manipulate the culture, politics, and economy of the World. As part of their work to rule the world it is said they replace famous people with clones who they can can control. They go for the replacement when a celebrity rejects their offers to become an illuminati stooge.

Capgras Syndrome is a condition in which someone believes their loved one has been replaced by an imposter or a double. French psychiatrist Joseph Capgras described the condition first in 1923, This is quite rare and is high in people with brain conditions such as Alzheimer's, or people who have an alcohol or recreational drugs problem. The central nervous system scans a face and then the extended nervous system relays information in relation to the face. In capgras syndrome the connection between the two nervous systems is broken. People with the syndrome are often quite adamant that their loved one is an imposter. Maybe those who feel a loved celebrity has been replaced are suffering from the syndrome.

One bizarre cloning story was that of Roger Saunders.

Holidaying in Scotland he visited the Cultybraggan RGHQ at Cultybraggan north of Stirling in Scotland. It is an army camp first built in 1941 to house Nazi prisoners. It contains a two level bunker which was built in 1990. The ground level bunker is covered with turf and grass. The bunker cost 3.6 million pounds and would have been a base for Scottish government officials, the BBC and other important groups in the event of nuclear war.
