"My Lord, you do not plan to just throw away your own daughter do you?" A man with white hair asked, as he knelt by a man, with eyes dark and cold.
“No, the child shall be of great use to me.”
“Genius my Lord.” the man praised.
The mother of the child, had been kept in pain in the air using the Crutiacious Curse. The man watched heartless, as he motioned his followers to add one more shock of pain.
Her head drooped and her heart stopped, her body dropping to the floor.
The man with white hair took the crying bundle and gave it to his wife Narcissa, to take care of her until a suitable age.
“Take her away Lucuis.” the man ordered.
“Yes my Lord.”
His supporters lifted the dead corpse and carried it ouside, as he heard his child cry again once more.
~
“Evangeline, your father’s calling you.” Narcissa called, as she came in and sat onto the couch, cradling her large stomach.
“Yes Narcissa.” A young girl, no more than the age of 10 stood up from her tattered chair, putting away a book she had been reading.
Her father was Voldemort, the most feared name in the Magic World. Killer, murderer, whatever you wanted to call him.
No one knew he had a daughter except for his followers.
Narhad taken care of her since birth, but now it was the opposite. She was know with child, due to Voldemort’s orders. If the Prophecy was true, she would send her son to Hogwarts at the same time as the rumoured boy.
His supporters sat on a long narrow table, black mahogany, sleek and smooth, as he sat at the top.
“I have a task for you,” he beckoned her to come closer. She reluctantly did. “Go to this address, and listen to anything anyone says.”
"Yes father." she squirmed uncomfortably as Nagini, his pet snake coiled around her legs and slithered up toward her face. Voldemort hissed to the snake telling him to let go. Nagini let go.
"Very well then. But anyway, if Lily Potter, is expecting a child. Take your wand with you. If anyone attempts to attack you kill them. Understand? Now go!"
Evangeline fled from her father's presence, grabbed the cloak from her room, and walked out to the city.
"Wow," she whispered to herself. The sunlight hit her skin, and she stood there for a long time, basking. She opened her eyes and watched the clouds move through the clear blue sky. Evangeline skipped down alleys, and looked through shops and windows. Seeing candies and smelling them was like heaven to her. The wafts of Chocolate Frogs and Bertie Botts every Flavor Beans wafted up to her nose as she sighed. Smiling to herself she found the address she was looking for. A house, small but lively. She heard voices and hid quickly behind a bush. Evangeline carefuly and cautiously lifted her head from behind the rosebush to see a couple.
"I’m so happy. If someone says that there is a couple more than us, than we’ll just have to see!" a man said taking her hand and swinging her around. The couple smiled and laughed walking toward a house.
Evangeline envied them. Her father was so cruel to her and didn’t care about her at all. But it wasn’t as bad as all of the people he killed or tortured using the Crutiacious Curse. She shivered at the thought. The screams still echoed in her ears. Her one and only wish would to always have a real family.
"Oh James, if he's a boy, what shall we name him?"
The man named James thought in depth. “We’ll leave it to Sirius.”
Lily nodded as he kissed her forehead.
Evangeline trudged back home, pondering. Whether to tell her father the truth or a lie. ‘I don’t want to die yet.’ she thought. She deicded on the truth.
"Father, they are expecting a child." Evangeline reported.
He smiled, a wicked smile and beckoned her to come. "Keep watching until the child has come. You have done well, Evangeline. Your dinner is in your room." Then Voldemort waved her off.
Her dinner was thin soup with some meat and raw vegetables in it. Bellatrix cooked it all. And she wasn't such a great cook. In fact, it was rather horrible, but if you have nothing else to eat and you're starving, best be off with thin soup rather than starve. After such an unfortunte dinner, Evangeline slept soundly while the other Death Eaters did not, and neither did Voldemort for the news of this Potter boy being born was the worst news yet.
"But My Lord, remember the prophecy? It said that one cannot live while the other does. It means you must be the one to kill it." one of the Death Eaters said with urgency.
Voldemort sat at the head of the table, pondering. He would have to kill the child no matter what.
"By no means I shall kill him. It is what the prophecy said, and therefore I must warn you, we must all be prepared as soon as this child," he said disgustingly, "is born. Is that clear?"
"What about your daughter?" Bellatrix asked looking at her nails.
Narcissa stiffened at the remark of her sister.
Voldemort sighed. "We must keep her away, safe and hidden. She will be the most vulnerable."
"The Black Lake? At Hogwarts? No one will suspect her being there. I suggest it My Lord." A man with jet black hair said.
"Good thinking Jurgson, she will be sent there, put into a deep sleep till the Potterboy is killed. Then, someone will fetch her and bring her back, but," he said standing up glaring at all of his supporters, "No one tells her of this plan. Understand??" Everyone nodded.
-------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Father, the child has been born." Evangeline reported a year later. "His name is Harry Potter."
Everyone exchanged uneasy glances. "Very well done Evangeline. You will recieve a bit of cake later," Voldemort said sending her off. "And Evangeline?" he asked as she turned around, and at once, his heart softened for a moment and he realized, that he truly loved her, but he couldn't say it, "Thank you for your help."
She smiled. "Your welcome father." Then she went to her room, her slender figure dissapearing up the stairs.
A voice whispered in his ear. "When do you plan to do away with your daughter?"
"Tonight Bella." he said the remorse in his eyes fading slowly.
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------
"Evangeline?" Voldemort asked as he climbed up and went to her room for the first time. He looked around. Suprised. on a shelf which looked rather beat up, was a picture of her mother.
“Maria. Why did I do such a thing to you?” he muttered silently to himself.
Footsteps were heard up on the roof as a pair of slender feet hit the window sill. "Yes father?"
"Here is the cake I promised you." he said putting the plate into her pale hands.
She smiled brightly. "Thank you father." But then she sniffed the cake gingerly. It smelled genuinely disgusting and more bitter then sweet.
"Something wrong with the cake?"
"Yes, it smells bitter, like some kind of potion."
Voldemort was frantic in his head. Why hadn't Bellatrix made the odor lighter, he screamed in his head. "It's just been in the cupboard for awhile."
Evangeline nodded, not really believing her father. "Oh, um.... allright then. I guess I'll eat it later...."
"NO!" Voldemort nearly roared as he scared Evangeline.
"Why can't I eat it later?"
"The cake wouldn't taste good if it went too cold would it?" he asked with a sly evil grin on his face.
"Fine, I'll eat it now but you don't have to watch me."
"Well then, enjoy your cake." he said as he walked down the steps.
"Is she eating the cake?" Bellatrix asked as she looked at her nails.
"The smell was too strong of an odor Bella. Even she could smell it. I'll just have to use the Imperius Curse on her."
He went back up to find her staring at the cake, her dark eyes lookeng boring into it. Spinning it around with her wand.
"Father, I have figured it out. There's the most powerful sleeping draught in here. I bet Bella put it in here. Don't you think?" she looked up and saw her father as he whispered,
"Imperio"
With his wand, he forced her to eat the cake, every last bite of it.
“Father?” she asked, before she dropped to the floor. Her eyes fluttered, terars welling in her eyes. “Why?” she whispered, before her eyelids dropped, and her body no longer stirred.
Voldmemort brought her down then laid her on the table. He opened her mouth and pured a slimy looking substance that was blue.
"What is that my Lord?" a man named Barty Crouch asked as he stood up.
Voldemort replied, "A time freezing potion. This will keep her in her former position forever until she awakens. Now," he turned to two other Death Eaters, "Take her to Hogwarts, and put her in the cave at the bottom of the Black Lake where you will put a protective shield around her and her belongings. We will fetch her as soon this is all over." He ordered as the Death Eaters fled not knowing they were to never save her from the waters of the Black Lake ever again.
----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
36 years later
Albus hurried along the halls as he ran to his Charms class, already late for his class. He sighed for this was his first day at Hogwarts. He looked out toward the Black Lake. Something dark was growing bigger and bigger underneath the murky waters. The Giant Squid, he thought excitedly, as he raced down knowing he would be late to his class. He looked down into the water as the Lake began to spin quicly, into a whirlpool. Albus gasped and backed away begind a tree heart thumping, as he turned slightly to see what was happening. There seemed to be a light at the bottom of the whirlpool, but he couldn't make out what it was. Then out of nowhere a voice screamed as a pale girl flew out of the whirlpool and landed in the water. Although shocked, she managed to swim, dragging a wet and soaked trunk with her.
Albus rushed to her side as he saw that she had her belongings. "Are you alright?"
"Um.... where exactly am I?" she asked puzzled, her wet hair covering her face.
"You're on the Hogwarts grounds. I'm Albus by the way."
She wiped her hair away from her face. "I'm Evangeline."
Evangeline was strange Albus thought. “Are you all right? I mean you came out of a whirlpool!”
“I believe so. Um... What’s Hogwarts?”
“It’s a school, where kids learn to channel their magic. Can you do magic?"
"Well yes, I mean I have a vague memory of doing magic."
"Do you have a wand?"
"I believe so, somewhere." she opened it and looked inside and found her wand. “Maybe in my trunk?”
"It’s alright I mean....."
"Ah ha!" Evangeline exclaimed, holding her wand, core of brass with unicorn hair entwined in it.
“Do you know any spells?”
“Yes,” she said trying not to brag,”quite a number of them.”
“Woah, I don’t know any yet.”
“You don’t? I mean I thought everyone knew how to.”
“Nope,” Albus replied amazed. “Today is the first day of school for us.”
She nodded and sneezed.
"Here, take my robe." Albus wrapped it around her shoulders.
"I should probably take you to Professor McGonagall. Come on." he took her hand, grabbed her suitcase and led her out to Hogwarts. Evangeline left a trail of water. On the way, he told her all about the rules, houses, and all of the classes. She listened intently as her hopes began to rise.
"Here we are,” he knocked on the door. “Excuse me? Professor?” he called out. The door opened.
Professor McGonagall gasped at the state of both of them. "Mr. Albus Severus, what are you..... oh my goodness!" she gaped at the sight of Evangeline. Soaked and shivering with seaweed in her hair.
"Who is this?"
"Professor McGonagall this is Evangeline, and Evangeline this is Professor McGongall." Albus explained.
Evangeline smiled shyly and curtsied. "Nice to meet you Professor."
"Mr. Albus, exactly where did she come from?"
"From a whirlpool, coming out of the Black Lake."
Professor McGonagall looked at him puzzled. "Are you quite..."
"Positive. Honest, really." he confirmed as he told the tale.
"He's telling the truth.” Evangeline spoke, teeth chattering.
"Very well then. Mr. Albus I will write you a pass and you will go to your Charms class. Miss Evangeline, you shall come with me."
Evangeline waved. "Bye Albus. Thank you for helping me."
He waved back. Professor McGonagall gave him the pass and he walked alone to Charms.
Meanwhile Professor McGonagall took her into the office which was the once belonged to Dumbledores.
"Miss Evangeline, do you know exactly where you come from?"
"No ma'am."
"Do you have any relations?"
"I believe they all died. Otherwise they wouldn't have put me at the bottom of a lake would they?"
"Can you do magic?"
"Yes. I had a wand since I was five. That is when I think I've had it. But I'm almost positive."
"Very well. It is settled then. You will join Hogwarts school, and you will be sorted into your house." she brought down the Sorting hat from the high shelf and placed it on her head.
Evangeline looked at the hat strangely, as it covered her eyes. The hat spoke and her heart almost stopped.
"Hmmmm......... I see. Challenging. Yes, very challenging. Frail at heart, but strong at the wand. I suppose Slytherin!”
---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Albus walked into the Gryffindor common room and sat in front of the roaring fire. He wondered if Evangeline was okay. She really was a strange girl. It was amazing but who really came out of a whirlpool? Who was she really?
“Yo,” James, Albus’s older brother walked in.
“Hi.” Albus replied in a monotone.
“What’s up with you?” he asked, opening a packet of Bertie Bott’s Every flavor Beans. “You seem down.”
“Really?”
“Yeah,” James looked at him with suspicion. Then his face suddenly lit up with excitement. “Did you hear?”
“Hear what?” Albus asked annoyed. Why did older brothers always have to know everything before you.
“There’s this new girl,” he said, stuffing more beans into his mouth while talking, “her name is Evangeline, and she’s in Slytherin apparently.”
Albus jumped up. “Hey, I know her!”
“What?”
“I helped her get out of the whirlpool, and then to Professor McGonagall’s office.”
James looked shocked.
“You know her?”
“Yeah,” he said, looking embarrassed. “I mean, is it bad?”
“No!” he looked up laughing, “anyhow, you had better go to bed. It’s almost midnight.”
Albus nodded. “Good night then.”
“Night.”
Potions was okay, but not his favorite class Albus decided as he walked out jubilantly.
At the same tinme, Evangeline was walking out of her Transfiguration class.
She saw him and waved as she walked over.
“How are you?” Albus asked.
Evangeline smiled. “I’m great thanks, this is such a fun school.”
“That’s great. I have Hagrid next. Who do you have?”
“Potions with Edgeworth.”
“Meet you at the Great Hall for lunch?”
“That would be wonderful.”
After Potions, Evangeline was on her way to the Great Hall. A snake slithered by.
“Go away!” she flung her hands. “Shoo!” she told the snake.
“Geez,” hissed the snake. “Children these days. Respect just doesn’t come anymore. Even Slytherin doesn’t respect you anymore.”
Evangeline clamped her moputh with both hands. Ready to scream. Had she just heard that?
‘No,’ she laughed in her head. ‘I’m just hallucinating.’
“Get a move on girl.” hissed the snake again. Impatient.
Evangeline was now frightened. Very frightened, so bad, she couldn’t think straight. “Did you.... did you ju.... just...”
Now the snake was suprised, slowly turning his head, tongue flickering. “You understand?”
Although her head was shaking really badly, she managed to slightly nod.
“A parseltongue,” the snake said amazed, eyeing her cautiously, “one of the last.”
Evangeline couldn’t bear it any longer, and ran into the Great Hall, Trembling she sat on a table catching her breath trying to calm her horrified heart.
“Evangeline.” Albus called, as he went to her table.
She managed to put on a lively smile.
“Hi!”
“Sorry but, we have a little change of plans,” Albus said sheepishly. “Hagrid asked me if I wanted to have lunch together with him, so I asked if you could come along and he said yes. Would that be alright with you?”
“Sure.” she gathered her bags, as they both walked out together.
“Hagrid fought alongside my father in the Battle of Hogwarts.”
Evangeline looked at him strangely. “Battle of Hogwarts?”
He looked back at her stunned.
“You don’t know?”
She shook her head. “Could you, tell me?”
“Okay,” Albus started, feeling proud, and quite like a Mr. Smartypants. “I’ll start from the beginning and why it all happened. My father, Harry Potter was born on July 31. At that time. there was a man named Voldemort. He was a terrible man, so terrible we don’t and can’t talk about him anymore. He went to my father’s house, he was only a baby then. And well, Voldemort killed both of his parents.”
Evangeline looked at him, with her mouth hung open. “That’s horrid.”
Albus shrugged. “I know. My grandpa died first, trying to fight him off before he could go upstairs where my grandma and my dad was. My grandma died trying to protect my dad from the Killing Curse which is Avada Kedavra,” Evangeline gasped, as Albus continued. “Then Voldemort tried to kill my dad, but he couldn’t.”
“What?”
“Because when she stepped in front of him, to protect with him even though it meant her life, powerful magic set into his skin.”
“And what was that?”
Albus paused for a moment, because it was going to sound corny, but he said it anyway. “Love.”
Evangeline’s face sunk in. She thought it was because his grandmother was a really powerful witch.
Love couldn’t protect you. It was impossible. Love wasn’t a thing, you couldn’t even see it.
“Here we are,” Albus said, jubilantly. “Hagrid?”
Evangeline turned to see a giant man coming out of the hut.
“Albus, glad yer could make it. How ‘re ya?” Hagrid asked, thumping him on the back.
“Good thanks.”
Hagrid looked down to see tiny little Evangeline. He was almost twice the size of her.
“This is Evangeline, the one I told you about.” Evangeline managed a timid smile.
He nodded, acknowleging her presence. “Nice to meet ya. Come inside,” he motioned, taking their bags. “Just got a nice cup o’ tea brewin’.”
Albus nodded, as he and Evangeline stepped inside.
Evangeline looked around, as she saw all kinds of queer looking creatures.
“Hagrid, what is this?” she asked, looking into a corner of Hagrid’s hut, that consisted or large worm looking things in large cages, taller than her filled with dirt.
He wore a look of disgust on his face.
“Those, dirty beasts, are Blast-Ended Skrewts. Although I did create them, they are beasts. Beasts I tell ya. They’ll kill each other.”
“Goodness.”
“It is,” Hagrid sighed, as he turned to Albus. “So how ‘re your parents? Doin’ well?”
He nodded.
“Quite well. Lily’s coming next year to Hogwarts. She almost got into a fit when she didn’t receieve a letter this year, because she was too young.”
“Lily, is that your sister?”
He nodded. “My brother, James who is a year older than I am is a 2nd year.”
“James and Lily.” she muttered under her breath, racking her head. Then something, a memory hit her. “I have to go!” she gasped.
“Wait, Evangeline,” Albus called out but it was no use.
She was already up the hill past the stone hedges running into Hogwarts and down the hall. She paused for a quick breath, hoping no one would see her. She needed a room right now, and fast.
Then she heard something. A trickle of dust? Slowly she turned around. A door was appearing, and then set into stone. Evangeline carefully placed her hand on the knob. It opened! She quickly stepped inside, shutting the door. She took a ragged breath, than burst into tears. She leaned back against the walls and closed her eyes.
Voldemort was her father. Because of her Albus’s grandparents had died.
‘What am I going to do?’ she screamed in her head. She couldn’t tell Albus, she just couldn’t. What would he say? How would she bear to see him everyday from now on and forever? Evangeline couldn’t.
“Where do you think she went?” a voice, unmistakably Albus.
“I don’t know,” another voice replied. “It’s useless to even try, she could be anywhere!”
“No!” Albus replied firmly. “I”ll go this way, and ylu go that way.”
There was a sound of pattering feet. Evangeline cowarded into the corner, burying her face into her hands. Someone opened the door. A boy with dark hair and green eyes opened it.
“Are you Evangeline?” he asked, shining a lantern into the dark dull room. He crept and knelt down next to her, his hand on her shoulder as he closed the door turning on the light-switch.
“What’s wrong?”
Evangeline spoke in a muffled voice. “You wouldn’t understand. And I appreciate your kindness, but I would rather be alone right now, thank you.”
James rolled his eyes. “What a girl, I’m a year older than you. Of course I could understand it, even though it’s probably girl stuff.”
She didn’t answer back.
“I won’t tell anyone,” he said, trying to be comforting, “I swear! I’ll even do the Unbreakable Vow!”
Evangeline looked up, her eyelashes wet with tears, “Honest?”
He nodded intently, wanting to know this dark secret she had, no matter how stupid it might be.
“Not even Albus?”
“Nope!” he promised. “No one is going to know.”
“I’m his daughter.” she sobbed again, retreating into her former position.
James was confused. “Whose daughter?”
“Vol,” she tried again, steadying her breath. “Voldemort.”
He was wide eyed now. James thought he had died more than 20 years ago. This is so weird. “You mean him?” he asked in disbelief. “Voldemort?”
She told him everything, vented to him, and cried more than she had ever did in her life. James took her to Madam Pomfreys office at 3:00 in the morning. They were both exhausted, but Evangeline was half asleep, as James half-carried her back.
When she woke up, she was greeted with a warm comfy bed, and a pair of shining round glasses.
“Madame Pomfrey?” she croaked.
The old woman nodded, sitting Evangeline up. “Are you alright dear?”
“Yes, thank you.”
“You had us very worried young lady. We thought we had another outrage of disappearances again. You had Mr. Potter worried as well.”
“Albus?”
“And Mr. James.”
“It’s alright dear. Drink this, it will help you sleep.”
Slurping the creamy conoction, she sunk back into the pillows and melted into darkness.
“Imperio.”
“Here is the cake I promised you.”
“Crucio.”
“Avada kedavra.”
The face of her father, Voldemort appeared.
“I have a task for you.”
“Kill.”
More voices whispered making her toss and turn uncomfortably until she shook herself awake.
“Evangeline?” Albus’s head hovered over her.
“Albus?”
“You’re okay!”
“Sorry I worried you.”
“That’s alright. Say Evangeline, would you like to come over to meet my family during the winter?"
She tried to smiled brightly. "Your parents, are they okay with it?"
Albus nodded. "I've already asked them. We're leaving in two days so make sure you meet me at the Great Hall before the train leaves."
The next two days traveled in a blur. Evangeline was horrified and guilty. How could she have agreed to such a thing?
"Are you ready?"
She nodded jubilantly. "I'm all set."
They rode and talked about their Professors, homework and spells. Albus taught Evangeline how to play Wizard's Chess. Although she lost quite a number of times, she managed to win one.
"Mom!" Albus ran to a woman with fair skin, and bright orange hair after they had gotten off of the train.
"Albus dear how are you?" she asked, kissing his forehead. Evangeline felt a twinge of envy and guilt.
"This," he gestured to Evangeline, "is Evangeline."
"Pleasure to meet you. Thank you for having me."
James came off the train soon after. He looked at Evangeline, and she looked back. They locked gazes for a moment.
“Sorry about the other day.” she apoligized, going up to him.
He smiled. “That’s alright.”
"Lily may be a bit annoying so brace yourself. She was dying to go to Hogwarts this year." Albus explained.
"Really? Can she do magic as well?"
Albus smiled. "She got really mad once at us. Then the windows started to fly open, the lights started to flicker, and glass exploded everywhere.”
"Wow. She can really do that?"
Albus nodded. Then he turned to his mother. "Where is Dad?"
"He's out somewhere doing his thinking. Best not to bother him, but he'll be back."
"ALBUS! JAMES!" a small girl with flaming red hair ran to hug her brothers. "I missed you so much!"
"Lily, this is Evangeline." Albus said formally as he struggled to get her off. "My friend at school."
Lily ran to meet her and shook her hand. "Do you like school? Can you do magic?” she asked, as though she didn’t need to breathe. “ Do you have a wand?" and she drowned her in questions. "Albus said that you came out of a whirlpool.” Lily turned to her mother. "Can Evangeline sleep in my room tonight?"
"You would have to ask her politely dear."
"Would you like to?" Lily asked Evangeline impatiently jumping up and down.
"Sure."
Lily smiled brightly. "Wait, now I'll go clean it up!" she said as she rushed to her room.
The door opened. "Hi Dad!" James said running to his father.
"Hello James, and to you too Albus." and then he turned to Evangeline. The moment he looked at her, his scar seared with pain. She looked so familiar, like she was a resemblence of someone. Evangeline looked at him the same way. Guiltily. "Ah.."
"What is it father?" James asked concerned.
Their father smiled lightly. "Just a headache, and who might you be?"
"Oh, I'm sorry sir. I'm Evangline sir."
He held out his hand. "Pleasure to meet you. Harry Potter, Albus’s father."
He was Harry Potter. Good grief. What was she supposed to do? Tell Albus? No bloody way.
After dinner, when everyone else was sleeping, Harry went into the kitchen, he looked into the sink, horrified.
"My scar hurt Ginny. It hasn't hurt for nineteen years. When I looked at her, it seared with pain."
Ginny’s eyes widened. "But nothing is wrong with her. She's such a lovely girl.”
“Something must have been done to her. And the way she looked at me was with pure terror and recognization."
Ginny crossed her arms. "That doesn't mean that you should make assumptions. We'll see how she is. And when she seems to be," she searched for a word, "different, then we'll see. If anything happens, we’ll protect our children no matter what.” she touched his arm, looking into his eyes.
Harry nodded as he took her hand.
The next morning, Evangeline woke early. She couldn’t hide it any longer, she had heard the conversation between his parents last night.
Creeping into Albus’s room, she wrote a note.
‘Dear Albus,
I’m sorry. I should have told you earlier. Voldemort was my father. That’s why I ran away like that because I recalled my memory so suddenly then. My father’s the one that caused the Great Battle of Hogwarts. I told him that your dad was going to be born, and that’s why you don’t have the grandparents you could’ve had because he murdered them.
My father was a murderer. I’m so sorry Albus, I thought that we could be friends, but I don’t think your father would ever except me.
Evangeline V. Riddle’
She folded it and placed it next to his hand, and slowly tiptoed downstairs.
Her bags were on her back, her wand in her hand.
Than she stepped out the door, but before she could, someone grabbed her shoulders. Evangeline spun around.
“Where do you think you’re going?” James asked.
“Away.” she looked into his super cute brown eyes.
He rolled his eyes. “I read your note.”
She blushed furiously, even her fingers turning red. “Why would I care? I can take care of myself.”
James chuckled. “I seriously doubt that.”
“What do you want?”
“Just tell my father that you’re his daughter.”
“I can’t do that,” she shook her head vigorously. “The things that he did to people, it’s unforgettable. He killed them for fun, and.....” she started to shake. Crying. “He killed my mother.”
James closed his mouth.
‘What kind of person am I?’ he wondered.
“I’m sorry, I uh...” he scratched his head. “I didn’t know.”
She wiped her tears of her face, then looked up at him and smiled. “That’s alright. But honestly, I can’t tell your father.”
“You have to. Come on, you’re Albus’s only friend.”
“Fine. But if I get kicked out, I am never speaking to Albus, Lily or even you especially!”
He laughed. “You wouldn’t be able to resist me.”
Evangeline blushed even more, as she looked down, and when she looked up, he was looking into her eyes.
Of course they’re special moment was broken up by Lily.
“Good morning, good morning, to you! And you! And everyone else in ths world!”
They quickly broke gazes, as Evangeline quickly ran off, and hugged Lily. “Morning!”
Minutes later, Ginny woke up, as she and the girls started on breakfeast.
“Can we have pancakes? With chocolate chips?”
“Sure. Evangeline?”
“I think it’s brilliant!”
They cooked in the kitchen, laughing, and full of smiles.
Harry came downstairs, as he kissed Ginny good morning.
“Yuck!” Lily said, watching her parents. “Kissy stuff is disgusting.” she said airily, as she turned back to her scrambled eggs.
“Boys, set the table.” Ginny called out.
“Sure mum.” Albus said, as he grabbed the forks and spoons from the drawer, quickly setting up the table himself. Obviously James had thrown away her letter.
“Where’s James?” Ginny murmured to herself.
“Right here,” James replied, as he came back from outside, with fresh pink roses. “For the table.”
Ginny smiled. “How sweet.”
“Breakfeast is ready!” Lily shouted at the top of her lungs.
Everyone say down at the table, and started to eat.
James sat across of Evangeline. She looked up, and he was staring at her. She blushed, and looked down again, smiling.
“Thank you for breakfeast.” Evangeline said, as she helped carry dishes with Ginny and Lily.
“I’m glad you enjoyed it!”
Harry sat at the table, reading ‘The Quibbler’ while sipping a cup of tea.
James looked around from the corner, and gave her a look, meaning to tell him.
She nodded reluctantly. “Um... sir? Could I talk to you. Alone?” she added.
He nodded. “Sure.”
They went outside.
“You know don’t you.”
“Know what?” Harry asked.
Evangeline sighed. “I’m Voldemort’s daughter.”
Harry looked at her stunned. “What?”
“Yeah, only his follower’s knew about me.”
“What about your moth...”
“He killed her,” she sighed. “Using the Crutiacious Curse. Narcissa took care of me after that. Voldemort ordered her to have a child, so that he or she would go to school with you,” she paused, then looked up. “I’m sorry. I really am. I hated my father, but there was nothing I could do. No one could stop him, but when I heard from Albus that you did, I don’t know. I thought he was still alive. He put me at the bottom of the Black Lake. The whole time. Honestly, right now, I’m at least 20 years old. I was 10 when you were born.”
He nodded. “That’s the past. But I’m glad you told me. I kind of figured, since my scar hurt.”
She gave him a confused look. “What scar?”
He parted his hair slightly. A lightning scar. “He gave you that?”
He nodded. “Whenever I was around him, it always hurt.”
“Oh.”
“So, are we even?” he extended his arm.
“Sure.” they shook hands.
“But,” he had a stern look. “One bad thing you do to Albus, Lily or James..”
“I’m dead I know.”
He laughed. “Come on.”
Evangeline went back into the house, as she smiled. Finally forgiven.
Epilogue: 2 years later
“Mom, mom, mom! Oh my goodness, you cannot believe what I just saw!” Lily cried out, as she came out of the train, after she had put in her luggage.
“What?” Ginny asked, as she fixed her already messed up braids.
“Evangeline and James were snogging in the corridor!” she gasped. “It was terrible! Kissy stuff, honestly.”
Albus laughed. “You’ll be thinking differently that’s for sure.”
Lily spun around on her heel. “No I will not. You must be insane. All you people must be insane.” She flung her hands up in the air, as she stomped her foot.
Evangeline and James came out of the train, looking sheepish.
“Lily I’m so sorry.” Evangeline said.
Lily sighed. “It’s alright,” she dismissed airily. “I’m a grown woman, and I don’t do gross things like that. In the meantime, please do not snog,” she said snog rather loudly, “in front of me.”
“Understood.”
The train hooted.
“Come on you lot, shoo!” Harry said. “You do not want to miss the train.”
“Or else you’ll be taking the enchanted car all the way to Hogwarts.” a familiar chimed came in.
It was Ron and Hermione Weasley.
“Hi Uncle Ron!” Lily chirped, as she chatted with Rose, one of her many cousins. Hugo, Roses’s older brother said hi to Albus, and raised an eyebrow at James and Evangeline’s entwined hands. He made a gagging face, and he and Albus laughed.
“Hey man.” Harry said seeing his old friends.
“Go on Rose!” Hermione chided giving her a playful push.
“Okay, okay,” Rose said annoyed, as she and Lily walked into the train.
“Bye!” they both shouted.
James and Evangeline walked back, as Albus caught up with them.
“Bye mum, bye dad!”
“Bye, see you over Winter break alright?”
The train hooted one last time, as they waved their children goodbye.
Inside the compartment, Albus, Hugo, Evangeline, James, Rose and Lily sat.
“Exciting to go back isn’t it?” Evangeline said, as she held hands with James.
“I can’t wait!” Rose squealed. “I wonder if I’ll be in Gryffindor?”
“Sure you will.”
“Slytherin isn’t that bad either. Just because You-Know-Who was in it, doesn’t mean everyones bad! I mean, I’m not bad.” Evangeline reminded them.
They all laughed. “You get a little overprotective about Slytherin.” Albus said, through laughs.
She rolled her eyes smiling, happy at last.
