TheAttack

Suddenly, there is a penetrating pain on the top of my head. I am rudely awakened by a brazen assault on me from a winged attacker.I just saw a blur falling to the ground beneath my lounge chair.

My eyes are unable to adjust, before the mass lifts into the air and disappears. I jump to my feet off kilter, and not fully alert. Stunned I wonder what this is all about. Shaking my head from the pain I have just gone through, and trying to wake up .Now I stand and look up into the trees where the light comes jutting through. I am temporarily blind.

There is so much noise, and commotion coming from the branches higher up in the ancient Eucalyptus tree. Then as if a bolt of lightning it hits me, this was a rescue of a baby learning to fly. He didn’t even see me sleeping on the lounge chair.
Fortunate for him, I am stuffed from my morning meal. This was his lucky day .

In the spring this tree offers more than shade it's a home to numerous new families of birds. I look up see the mocking birds flying in a frantic state. No snack for me today. I guess I'm okay with that.

I want to be left alone to relax to take my catnap.
