The Ice Princess
Surrounded by mounds of white snow,
and rocks with icicles hanging low,
formed like daggers to be used in the war against words of love --
to slay the heart and turn it to stone.
Standing alone the princess exquisite,
a vision to behold crossing the wooden bridge.
A statuesque figure clothed
in silver bands of tinsel.
Wearing a choker of pearls
coiling like a snake around her neck.
Her free flowing hair onto her shoulders
touching her waist in the back
reflecting rays of light.
Wounded by a careless lover,
her mission in life was
vowing to trust no other mere mortal.
Self-exiled to this glacier refuge
void of the sun nearly all year.
Wanting to embrace the coldness
and stave off any ardor.
If captured her lyrical words will swim to your
heart and mutate till it is cold and gray.
She wants to do away with all
tenderness and warmth.
She is out to rid us of any romantic flame
for all eternity
