Illusion
As I sit here at my desk,
this scene falls into place.
I have opened this imaginary gate
to this beautiful land
so lush and green a picture book setting.
I started out writing and talking
night and day.
I know all of your flattering
of my ability fed this union.
I became obsessed there was a force
I chose not resist.
You taken my heart
with words of love
you repeated said
to me.
You wove a web of silk threads
that clung to capture me.
Never ending fibers falling,
and forming wings floating
your expressions of infatuation for
me.
You say we are so much alike,
and share the same
dreams.
Never questioning I am enthralled
and except this as
true.
We have never met face to face,
though we have seen pictures,
and yet you are so daring
with your feelings for
me.
With little thought for the real world
we live in.
This dreaming started out so sweet,
and no one was getting hurt,or so it seemed.
The time stolen from others
to spend with you was not unnoticed.
Then reality came crashing in
and now the allure is muddied
Time to stand back and appraise the
remains.
This triangle formed from lies
and pleasures is now a valley of
pain.
