Beauty
He saw her as he entered the room. The light from the open window highlighted every feature as she lay in bed.
Her blue eyes, always on his mind, were large and lustrous radiating the warmth that flowed so naturally from them. Yet, they could be glacially cold if he did something she did not approve of. Her eyebrows were turned up – questioningly. Her soft and generous mouth turned down. Her skin was flawless and her body looked well sculpted.
There was so much he wanted to say but- it was too late. God had called her first.
On Target
The old man on crutches waited patiently at the traffic light. He had only a few minutes to choose his target from the stopped cars. Who would give him alms?
No, not that girl with the flowing hair -she looked too snooty. Not that well dressed man either. Many looked through him as if he did not exist. Here was hope. A sad faced middle aged lady. He hobbled towards her. She gave him a big note and he saw she had no legs.
While most could see pain and walk past, she knew suffering and could not.
Precious Time
The bride looked desperately at her watch. The priest was getting impatient. So too was the crowd gathered for the wedding. But where was the bridegroom? Was he delayed due to an accident? Illness? Amnesia? Change of mind? Everyone speculated, loudly and privately. They had come a long way and were now irritated by the uncertainty. Was the girl serious?
Her dazzling smile made someone walk up as if on cue. The priest began the ceremony and the crowd cheered. They-and the bride too perhaps- had got what they expected. Some return for investing their precious time.
