FOREWORD & APPRECIATION

The poetries in this book were selected not only to provide pleasure but also provoke thoughts on love, romance and life, specifically human relationships.

The discerning reader will detect the different love and romance backgrounds and stylish approaches of the poet. Each poem has been chosen to ensure that a range of complexity is covered to suit all tastes. The language level varies from fairly basic to challenging.

The book includes poems that vary in length; it may prove worthwhile to assess the literary merit of each on this basis, and to ascertain what constraints the length of the poems imposes upon an author when depicting poetic devices and developing themes.

I'd like to thank all my regular readers and everybody who's been with me on this journey of completing these anthology, your love for literature or rather poetry  make me hold my pen up and bless you with letters.

Most if not all are written in first person point of view, because i personally use poetry to communicate with the outsite world, so the pieces will definitely provide you as a reader with an insight into my wonderland, and i hope you enjoy them

THEY'RE COMING

Inscriptions at the gate,

village of khelm.

The gatekeeper beheaded,

A message in his palm,

"We are coming"

Chants in the wind.

Drums of war,

Vibration of the earth,

Racing of the tiger waves.

"We are here", they said.

The dogs barked

The birds flee

The mothers killed

The children wailed

Blood flowed.

Hearts ripped apart,

The earth is tainted

coloured red.

BLEEDING SCAR

He defile it,

blood will out,

Though volition vouchsafe ostensible reasons,

It bewilders his lurking mind,

Quoted it with decrepit voice,

yet illumined.

Reasons came forth yet failed him,

Ended up deferring due to immature belief,

Dead men tell no tales, yet every why has a wherefore,

Passion with tainted understanding.

     He quoted,

Puzzled by the quotation vouchsafed,

A lifting voice of singing birds,

 “Love”.

he sounded as if he was a love inventor,

All that glitters is seldom gold.

It exists between co-existing hearts, yet nit-picks tormented souls,

Heart and soul condoned by the heart line,

Losers’ weepers, finders’ keepers-

Not thought tricked deed, rather voluntary tincture of beauty”

February there be no rain, ‘tis neither good for hay nor grain.

KEG AND AGE

Spirits and tonic,

Medications to native souls,

thick saliva and creamy mucus.

Saturate the encient earth.

A stick that walks,

Heads that talk,

Mouths that stink of time,

Age winding up, as an enemy.

Downside tilt,

Emptying to fill

An empty, that will

Be emptied to fill stupor.

Gin and grin,

Staggers and swaggers,

in gutters and murky waters,

They bid.

THE RAIN'S TOUCH

The birds are singing

Legs are stroling

clouds are smiling

The skies are brightened

The birds are chirping

Legs are quickening

Clouds are bulging

The skies are blackening

The birds are fleeing

Legs are racing

clouds are dripping

The skies are thundering

The birds are screeching

Legs are stumbling

Clouds are peeing

The skies are deafening

The birds are singing

Legs are strolling

Clouds are smiling

The skies are smirking

LIFE AT THIS TIMES

Heat melts the iceberg of ages.

Clouds of uncertanity keep promising heaven,

Expectant.

In pain like a woman i labour, i wait.

When the leaves fall,

Trees are left with their shadows.

adulthood precipitates responsibilities camparison is the gasoline.

peer pressure,

The match about to start flames of frustration.

MESSIAH

The cock announces his arrival,

The birds sing him songs of praise.

Smiled with gold and warmth.

The flowers blossom,

The worms burrow

The blue of the sky

The green of the trees

The dendelions and white roses

The ladybird in scarlet and swart

They all glory in his presence.

From east to west,

He travels his passing.

Signifying the progression of the present into the future.

MY SHINE

Her mouth is a fountain of delight,

Like winter blooming pearl.

With grin blossoming on its chicks, winter blanket teeth like snow.

Never feeling blue, icing the heart line.

Not fishing for compliments,

She’s is the apple of my eye,

moonlight sparkling brighter than a gipsy.

     Fizzy sherbet centre heart,

Her love as snug as a bug in a rug,

Looking at her is like watching grass grow,

Eyes turn ice as I gaze.

Her skin so tender like a ripened peach,

Her eyes are sparkling diamonds.

Her long braided hair was a flowing golden river.

Our hearts playing hide and seek with the flowers as they buzzled from one another,

Looking like two stars dancing playfully in the moonlight sky.

The words appeared to leap off the paper as I tell her “I love you”,

Like the first rays of morning tiptoeing through the meadow,

She’s my shine.

ODE

I looked down on my body from afterlife,

broken and battered on the altar of sacrifice.

broken while trying to fix broken world.

watered the fields with sweat.

irrigated it with tears

whilst mine plagued with drought.

heart for food,

soul for wine.

Became enemy to self,

merchandised my soul for its love,

funeral of pity.

i died a fool.

LIFE

It's a misery

Slithering off like a sly snake,

sought coming to bite the ignorant.

Its terror.

inducing shudders imposed on mortals.

its pleasantness, served on a gold platter.

A bubbling sweetness.

Like a clear spring trickling over a bed of black rocks.

Capitulating at the gentle tug,

Reigning back in disgust.

indifferent to the undertow of the desperate.

Like a firewater pool.

its beauty and sweetness out of proportion.

A grim lover,

A pleasant reaper.

The least earned.

CHAINED THOUGHTS

It de-potentiates change while it deprives,

Yet shaming is the best policy but caters dolour,

Never say die for dolts whom are shallow,

Twofaced yet subliminal,

it rains cats and dogs.

The wish is father to the thought, by the skin of your teeth deceiving,

Though controversial,

once in a blue thoughts.

Blurring the credulity in one’s self, a perfect storm,

Like shallow tourniquet around the arteries.

    Credulousness orientated mind,

let it breathe.

Rather than barking up the wrong tree,

While being creed, thus possessing a birds eye view.

looks before it leaps,

keep up with the joneses.

UNDETERRED

 Seven times around the wall

Many times around the hill

Seven times we may fall

But we go forward still

     Helmet for my head

Breastplate for my chest

Shield against the darts

No plate for my back

He who runs from a fight

Runs from his life

The part of you that fights

Is the part of you that slaves

     Seven times around the wall

Many times around the hill

Seven times we may fall

Not enough reason to leave the hall

CURSE

I watched her prepare a gift,

She was working on the night shift.

     I looked closely,

And realised it was you.

Of all things in the world it had to be you?

     I curse you.

Curse its wings and tentacles.

     I hate you,

Either you take your pills,

Or be drowned by your obstacles,

May your dreams and loved ones be crushed

THE VALLEY OF THE SHADOW

 Where am i?

Dispatch where am i?

Shadows dance in a translucent haze,

There's something here with me!

Dispatch are you there?

shadows and phantoms,

Move so fast but, oh i see;

Long robed being of black smoke!

Dispatch i'm hearing voices!

Dispatch please!

Don't you hear that?

Listen!

Meat so fresh, plump red and hot

Blood so hot, so hot to lick and drink

Brain so soft, so sweet to suck and chew!

Dispatch get me out of here.

They're getting closer.

please!

SILENCE AND VOICES

 Silence…

Our heads are lowered,

Fake societal signs of modesty.

Dried tears soak into the pores of our rosy,

Bushing cheeks.

Home cooked meals, clean house, no house help,

Worn and tired to the bone,

They say be content.

Mama didn’t raise a coward.

Yet, we cower.

Be not too strong,

Be not too weak either.

Fighting ourselves.

We are in a boat steered by society

We might drop, we might fall.

Yet, we aren’t alone

Voices…

Their heads are raised.

Fake bravado hiding cowardice,

Broken hearts and crumbling bones beneath layers of skin.

They should keep mute even in the face of adversity,

They’re the beast of burden,

Even their grunts are subdued.

He can’t be shy…he must make the first move,

They are rejected

Their sobs are quiet as against our cracking sobs,

Big boy don’t cry

We’re selfish

They’re selfish

Our view of each other is jaundiced.

Clouded by our own pain, we don’t see their hurt

Immersed in their agony, they are blind to ours.

Humans are selfish.

Gender is a curse

…a raised red flag separating humankind.

SEASONS

 Everything’s eventual:

Seasons soon vex inexhaustibly,

And winter’s clobbering hands despise us

_perhaps intimacy was lost before these fading kisses.

Winter with a rubber breast.

Than timid under eyes.

Sweeter among as sherbets and paleness

Sky with diphtheria.

Everything’s eventual.

When time’s chisel take thy brows and jaws

Death twirls home w/ tragic minuteness

DEATH

 Give me a mansion

I will burn it down

Give me a car

  I will get It wrecked.

Give me a vegetation

  The plants will wither

Give me a job

The company will go bankrupt.

For karma served me

What I ordered

The sins of my past Were forgiven.

But I’m being haunted,

With the consequence

CURSE

What is I? Tell me!

Or you I demand!

You who looks upon me with scorn!

For how low will you chastise me with your seeds and words?

Hoorah!

Tis time of joy,

Bittersweet it may be,

But in it I find release,

For I have made this choice,

It’s my bed of thorns, and as I lay,

I do say,

Your words make it soft,

Come morrows dawn,

I shall remain free.

THE HIGH

I fell once for her tricks

I fell twice for her looks

I fell over and over again for her words

Her eyes were deep endless pools

The look in her eyes,

Oh! The look in her eyes

Her gaze saw right through me

Stripping my soul bare.

Her words were like melted caramel,

Smooth and sweet

They caressed me, and gorged out every little reaction

Each one more pleasurable than the last,

They left me swooning

And eager to hear more.

They were like a drug,

Left me wanting more

awakened something deep inside me,

Made me come alive with need.

Aching for ecstasy

That she only bring

My skin become hot and feverish

As her hand followed the map of my body

Driving me mad with want

Hazy with need.

I fell hard for her,

She became my addiction

So I revealed in her attention

She became my undoing

And I became her victim.

EUPHORIA

The moon has risen before the sun,

The rainbows end lands in my house.

Ideal joy strikes on my window,

anguish seem too far away now.

Felicity shows pain, its prowess.

Nature is apt today.

STORMY LOVE

What would I do without you?

I’m existing but not living,

When you come close I begin to die,

But at the same time I feel alive.

You’re my paradox

My greatest confusion,

Keeping me awake with love and lust.

My passion burns within me like a raging storm.

Kiss me again,

And kiss me one last time,

Then leave.

Then leave and never come back

For both our sakes,

Our love is indeed sad…

Like cancer

It devours us.

CLOUDED HEART

I felt surrounded by darkness staring still.

It got my body still and cold like a frozen fish.

It was a sad shocking story too heavy for the mouth to say

The night mourned your leave,

I wish I was never told.

It erupted my hearts temperature, mixed hot and cold,

All like an empty soul.

Sad songs sang in tears,

But I was defeated by the songs I sang.

Was it a trick?

Look, even the clock sluggishly ticks,

Your departure is too hard for a soft heart to bear,

But we only live for sorrow and tears.

A priceless gold melted my eyes without a fight.

BRAVE HEART

You have the power to hurt me.

I refuse to let you wield it,

I strive,

Cross the seven seas and valleys to take it away from you,

No! You can’t break me.

Moulded from the ground.

I stand strong,

So easy to be sad, to have my countenance change,

To steal my happiness with each grudge, I abort.

No more for you!

By the god of my ancestors I stand strong

Tall and mighty like a warrior,

I’ve danced in the flames of pain, hate and misery

I’ve danced in the flames of regret, scorn and distrust.

I have been scorned by the fire

No more I say!

No more I refuse!

For I’m no longer the prey that hides in the darkness,

I’m a predator that walks in the light and confronts the night walkers,

Roaring louder than the lions of the jungle, singing out my bravery

BLINDFOLDED LOVE.

The world is round, so I was told.

Everything comes full circle,

Except for me and you.

The air is free

That much I can see,

The clouds dance in it,

I’m jealous,

I wish that was you and me.

These days are endless,

Eternity is a dream,

Are we foreal?

Or is this a passing fad.

Love is for all weather,

You’ve shown me new path

And now…

My heart is coloured black.

TERRIFIED

 I shall not run!

Sticks and stones may break my bones.

Life hear me!

You shall be my stepping stone if die today,

Then I’ll die with grin on my face,

I owe you no penny.

I nay asked thee bring me but alas,

Though has done such as this,

And now face the music.

I will play you like a harp

And your evil wiles shall dance to my tune,

I will sing you like a song

And your wicked fourths will rejoice at my words.

I will stamp on your skull

And the sound of defeat will be your theme song.

I will burn your flag

You’re nothing,

Verily! , I say to you.

Life you’re nothing after all the same one made you and me

WORTH

A couple of rice,

A matrimony of squeezed notes,

into the scales of my sun torn palms.

Mechanics of woes,

repairing our lives into sorry shapes,

Beating our tomorrow's out of shape.

Degree in the bag,

vacant vacancy left -

My home and mind,

Devil is hiring.

Smart tight tie,

Broken mirror certified.

Loose lost tie,

Pure water sacheted palm.

FEAR

Heartbeats are a terrified matronome.

ping! You're gonna die.

ping! You're all alone now.

ping! Bubbles of blood.

Running down a slit in my neck.

unsteady legs.

where am i?

what am i running from?

ping! I scream but no sounds comes.

its full dark now,

full of fear.

Will i live to forty?

head filled to burst,

Grade A uranium bomb terrified.
