"Mom...Dad...I'll be going out for a while. Don't wait up on me." I left out of my master bedroom and went down the stairs. I wasn't surprised when I saw my parents standing at the bottom of the stairs. Every time I go out, they are always standing in my way, so I got used to it. My father stepped in my way.
"And where do you think you're going?" His face was stern as always.
"I told you, I'm going out." I tried walking past them, but dad pushed me back.
"You're going out like that." my mom said while looking at my outfit. I looked down at my outfit. I'm wearing a red tube top with skinny jeans and black platform shoes. I looked back up at my mom.
"What's wrong with my outfit?" I start laughing, but stopped when the expression on my parents showed they were dead serious. Seriously. I tried to pretend to be confused, even though I knew what she was talking about. By the expression on her face, I knew she wasn't in the mood of playing.
"You look like a..." Before mom said anymore, dad cut her off.
"Lucia, you need to stop all of this hanging around, whatever you do. You should be preparing yourself on getting married. It's about time that you settle down." I rolled my eyes as dad keep blabbering about me getting married. He always bring this subject up.
"Dad, this is not the 1800s anymore. People do not get married at a really young age anymore."
"You're the one who decided to stop growing at the age 17 all those years ago. You know you can choose to keep growing." My family is Lamia vampires. We are kind of like humans. We are born and we age. We digest food like humans and we can step out in the sunlight without burning. The only thing about the sun is that it drain our energy. The thing is us Lamia vampires don't have in common with humans is, of course, we drink blood. Also, we actually decide when we want to stop aging or we can decide when we want to start aging again.
"Dad, I promise I'll come home. And when I do, we can finish discussing this." Before they could protest, I left out of the house. I got into my S60 Volvo and sped out of the driveway. I love my parent, but sometime I just want to rip their heads off. I looked behind to make sure no one was following me. Sometimes, my parents got their guards following me to make sure I'm not doing anything wrong. The only thing that get my parents mad is when I go out with them, there is no guards coming back with me. I smiled when I though about it. I thought about my discussion about me deciding to stop aging. Dad always bring that up we have an argument of me not getting married. I had a good reason why I decided to stop aging and it is still a good reason now. In 1856, it was my first 17th birthday party. Even though it was so long ago, I still remember it like it was yesterday.
***
Horse carriages are strolling by our home. Since it was my 17th birthday, people was moving in and out the house, preparing for the party. Adrenaline filled my body with excitement. I had some good news to tell my parents, at least it would be good news to me. I know my parents wouldn't like it, though. Actually, they never liked any of the decisions I made in my life so far.
My thoughts are disturbed when I heard a knock at the door.
"Come in." I said. My personal maid, Margaret, came in. I love Margaret. Margaret is in her mid-50s and she have curly black hair and cream colored skin. She is so sweet, that's why she's my favorite person in this big house because she actually understand me, understand what I feel. Margaret have been the one raising me since I was a baby.
"Miss Lucia... I mean Lucia. The guests would be coming soon, so your mother send me up here to help you get dressed." Ever since I was a little girl, Margaret have been calling me "Miss Lucia," until I finally asked her to just call me Lucia. Whenever anyone add "Miss" to the beginning of my name, it makes me feel old.
Margaret went to my wardrobe and pulled out my baby blue silk gown. After Margaret helped me get in the gown, carefully, she start doing my hair. She pinned up my long, silky, golden brown hair and she put in a cute, jeweled, hair pin. She stepped back and smiled.
"You look gorgeous." She turned me to the mirror so I can have a look. I did look gorgeous of course. My pale skin looked smooth. My blue eyes were bright with excitement, yet nervous.
"Thanks Margaret. You're the best."
"Don't thank me." I turned back to Margaret.
"Of course I have to thank you. You always been there for me." Before I could say anymore, I heard horse galloping towards the house. Margaret went to the window to check it out.
"The guests have arrived. We have to head downstairs." Margaret opened my bedroom door. I took a deep breath and walked out. I went down the stairs and down the hall. Two of my father's guards were standing at the closed doors that led to the ballroom. I nodded at them.
"Good evening, gentlemen." They stepped aside and opened the doors. Once the doors opened, everyone's attention was turned to me. There were so many people in the ballroom. As I looked around the room, I noticed that there was mostly men in here, causing me to get a little angry. Not again. My parents did the same thing for my 16th birthday party. I walked to the front of the room to my parents. They, of course, had grins on their faces. All I wanted to do was slap the smiles off their faces.
"Mom...dad. I told you not this birthday. I'm not going to do no scavenger hunt, looking for the right guy, when I could be only enjoying myself." My mom's smile was the first to go away.
"Honey, it's about time that you get married. You're lucky you don't have an arranged marriage, like your father and me. My parents made me get married at the age 16 to your father. I didn't want to do it, but I learned to love him. It is now your turn. I do not wan to hear anymore complaining tonight. Your father and I made it so you'll be dancing with all the single men in here so you can get to know them. Probably after the party, you will find your future husband. Now go." I looked at dad and gave him the "help me" look, but he just gave me his same stern look.
"Fine. Are the men human.?"
"No. Some of them are Lamia vampires and some are regular vampires. Now, go enjoy yourself, darling." Once father said that, he pushed me to the middle of the ballroom. Some waltz music start playing and everyone start dancing. The guys headed towards me. All of them started giving me their names and asking me to dance. There were some short guys, tall guys, cute guys, and some nerdy guys. Each of them got a dance with me for half of a song. Some of the guys were so boring that I almost fell asleep while dancing. Some of the guys were so nervous that that they never said anything to me. Some of the guys talked too much about themselves, they could have written a whole autobiography. There was this one guy who made me despise my parents even more. We were talking while we were dancing and we had some things in common. The only thing is that I knew him from somewhere and the next thing he said shocked me.
"I'm your second cousin, George."
"Wait. Hold up. You telling me my parents are trying to set me up with one of my cousins."
"People kind of do that now."
"Well, I don't. I'm sorry. It won't work out. Excuse me." I left George and went to my parents, who were dancing at the other side of the room.
"Mom...dad. We need to talk." I pulled them aside. My mom spoke first.
"What's wrong, Lucia. Your having a good time?"
"No. This evening was a disaster. I didn't like any of the guys and the only guy who I had in common with was my second cousin."
"That's delightful, honey."
"No, it's not. I'm not going to marry a family member. You just messed up another one of my parties." After that, I ran out of the ballroom. I looked back to see if anyone was following me.. I just keep running until I reached the door. I got outside and found myself in the garden. My eyes quickly adjusted to the dark. Since my ears are very sensitive, I could hear the bugs crawling on the ground and the cars driving 15 miles from here. Once I sat on one of the benches, I broke down crying. My parents always fins=d a way to make my life miserable. They want me to get married, but what about me? What about what I want" After crying for at least 5 minutes, I got myself together, wiped my eyes, stood up and straightened out my dress. Before I was able to enter the house, I heard soft footsteps. Whoever was walking was trying to sneak up on me.
"Who's there?" I got myself in position for attack. The fact that I had a dress on never got my attention. I just really didn't care. I didn't hear anything. Whoever was walking must have stopped. Since the pins fell out of my hair, some of my hair fell in my face. I start walking the direction where I heard the footsteps.
"Show yourself, coward." Right when I said that, a figure came from behind one of the bushes. Whoever it was start walking towards me. By the features, I could tell the figure was of a guy. The guy was about 6'2 and he was nicely build. The guy walked into the moonlight, only a few feet away from me. His blonde hair was smoothed back from his face. His blue eyes twinkled when he smiled at me,
"Who the hell are you?" I snarled.
"Wow. Little miss birthday girl has a potty mouth. I'm one of your guests this evening." His voice is a little deep when he talked. He tried touching my cheek, but I pushed his hand away.
"That still don't answer my question. Who are you?"
"Okay. I'm Roger. Nice to meet you." He grabbed my hand and kissed it before I got to protest.
"If you're a guest, why are you out here?"
"I was going to ask you the same thing. The only thing is that you're not the guest. You're the star of the party. You should be inside at your party, enjoying yourself. Instead, you're out here, messing up your gown, crying."
"You were watching me?" Just hearing what he said got me so pissed, I pushed him hard against the house. The house shook a little. Roger start laughing.
"I wouldn't exactly call it watching. I would call it a glimpse." He gave me a cute smile, showing his pearly white teeth. What he did next caught me off guard so I didn't react right away. Roger replaced himself against the wall with me against the wall. He looked into my eyes like he was reading my mind.
"Get off of me." I tried pushing him away, but he was so much stronger than me.
"Did you know you look so cute when you mad." He pushed a strand of my hair out of my face.
"Jerk." His smile went away and he stepped back.
"Let's dance."
"What? You just attacked me, now you want to dance."
"You are the one who attacked me first. Also, you owe me a dance." He smiled again.
"I beg your pardon. I do not owe you anything."
"Last time I checked, all the single men at your party get one dance with you and since I'm single, so I get a dance." Damn. I despise him so much. I sighed with defeat.
"Fine. How are we going to dance without any music playing?"
"We'll pretend that music is playing." He stretched out his hand to me. I know that if I say no, he will not stop asking. Once I gave him my hand, he pulled me in close. He start humming a song as we were waltzing around the garden. To tell the truth, I find this kind of intriguing. Me, dancing with a mysterious guy I met in my garden. I actually think this is romantic. I looked up at Roger. He looked down at me and smiled.
"What kind are you?" I asked.
"What kind of what?"
"Vampire."
"I'm an original."
"Why are you here, then? You could be at your own party, finding your soulmate."
"I rather be here with you, than being somewhere else with another girl. Besides I kind of like you." Somewhere while we were talking, we have stopped dancing. We just stared into each other's eyes as we stood there.
"You know I was telling the truth when I said you're beautiful." Roger said in a whisper. I felt adrenaline run through veins as he leaned his face down and kissed me. I felt tingling sensations go through me as we kissed. I wrapped my arms around his neck as he pulled me in close.
I pulled away as I hear some footsteps coming from inside the house. Someone is coming this way to the garden. I turned back to Roger. He had an alert look on his face.
"I have to go." He said.
"What... wait. You can come back inside with me."
"I'm sorry, my love. I wish I could stay, , but I have to leave." I felt a little disappointment.
"When can I see you again?" Roger held up my hand and kissed it.
"I will come and see you." He smiled at me before he ran and jumped over the wall that led to the streets. I'm still dazed on what just happened, that I didn't bother hearing the guard getting here.
"Miss Lucia, are you okay" Your parents and everyone else are waiting for you in the dining room."
"Okay. I was just about to go in." Before I went back inside the house, I looked back into the garden with my thoughts still on Roger and what have happened here.
I walked into the dining room to find everyone in there, sitting down. I went to my seat next to my parents and sat down. My mother gave me a stern look.
"Where were you? Everyone had to wait to eat because you wasn't here. Where were you?" mom whispered.
"I had to clear my mind." For the rest of dinner, my mom did not mention anything else. Now is the time when my parents gave a toast. My father stood up with his glass of blood.
"I will like to give a toast to my darling daughter, Lucia. I wish her the best and hope that she will soon find the right man." I rolled my eyes to that. This is the last straw. As soon as my father sat down, I stood up, clicking my glass with a fork.
"Excuse me. I have some news to tell everyone. I have thought about it for a while now. I have decided to stop aging." The dining room have become completely quiet. I looked over to my parents. My father face was filled with shock and my mother screamed, then fainted. I knew right then that the dinner was over. The guests all got up and left.
As soon as everyone left, I went straight to my room. Margaret came in and helped me out of my dress and into my nightgown.
"Margaret, do you think I made a good choice?" I turned to her.
"Only you can decide for yourself if you made the right choice." I got in bed and got comfortable.
"Good night, Margaret."
"Good night, Lucia." She kissed my forehead and blew out the candles beside my bedside. After that, she left. I turned to my side as I thought about the evening. My thoughts automatically went on Roger. There is something about him that seemed mysterious. Like, why he left as soon as the guard came. He could have left out of the front door. Before I got to think about it, I fell right to sleep.
That was my first 17th birthday party.
I just pulled up to the club I always go to every Friday, Dots. I go to this club to enjoy myself and to "hunt." Usually when I go in, there are many single guys in there. I would pick a guy, seduce him, then I get him alone and feed on him. I never drain them out, though. See, I'm not a bad person. I just drink a few pints, heal the wound with my blood, then I clear their memory of me ever meeting him. The guys would just have a slight headache when they wake up.
I walked to the front of the club. I smiled at the bouncer and showed him my fake ID. As soon as the bouncer opened the door that led to the inside, music start blasting through the doors. It was kind of dark in here, but still enough light for people to make their way around the club. I start looking around for the right "prey." I spot this guy at the bar. I could tell that he is one of those quiet types. He's a nice looking guy, with a nicely shaved face. He looked like he is in his early 30s. I sat in a seat at the bar. I made sure I was right across from him. He looks up at me and smiled. I gave him a flirtatious smile. He called the bartender over to him and told him something. The bartender got a beer and gave it to me.
"The guy over there gave it to you." He pointed to the guy. The guy got his beer and walked over to me. He sat in the seat next to me.
"How's the beer?" He yelled over the music. I took a sip.
"I prefer a bloody mary." I said as if it were a joke, even though I was kind of serious, if you know what I mean. The guy looked a little upset, though.
"You know I was just kidding." The guy looked relieved and start laughing.
"I'm Rick. What's your name, pretty?"
"Lucia."
"That's a beautiful name." He start rubbing his hand on my leg. This guy might not make it after tonight. We start talking. He start telling me about his life. The only thing he didn't mention was that he was married. When he came over here, he didn't have his ring on his finger, but I was able to see that his wedding ring finger had a shadow from where the ring was.
"You want to get out of here?" I whispered in his ear. His face automatically lit up with excitement, like a little kid.
"Sure." After Rick drank the last of his beer, we left. We got in his car and he drove off. He comes to a hotel and gets us a room. As soon as we got to the room, Rick is already trying to take my clothes off.
"Hold up." I got up close to Rick and kissed him passionately. When I puled away, Rick looked a little dazed. I love taking control. I pushed him on the bed. I got on top of him and start caressing him with my hands, trying to relax him. As soon as he looked relaxed, I kissed him again. My kisses traveled to his neck. The sound of his blood pumping through his veins was so tempting. Once I found the right spot, I bit him. You see, I never have sex with any of my victims. That would give me a bad name. As soon as I bit down, blood rushed in my mouth. Ah. The sweet sensations of it. The taste of it is so intoxicating. It's like I just took the best drug in the world. I just get more energy as energy is being drained out of Rick. To Rick, right now it should feel like he's being caressed from the inside out. After I drank a few pints, I stopped. I bit my tongue and let a few drops of my blood drop on the wounds. Rick's neck immediately healed, with no scars. Right now, Rick is sleeping. Before I left, I whispered, "Forget.' When I say this, all the guys forget me and the time we had together. After I went back to the club and got my car, I went home.
The lights are on as usual. As soon as I got in the house, I took off my heels. My feet were killing me. I went in the kitchen and found mom sitting at the island in the middle of the huge gourmet kitchen. She looks so frustrated. She is drinking a glass of wine. She looks up at me.
"Too bad alcohol don't have a huge effect on vampires." she said as she took a sip from her glass. There two empty bottles of wine in front of her.
"Thank goodness. If it was, you would be out by now." Mom couldn't resist laughing.
"Mom, where's dad?"
"In his studies, as usual." She frowned and drank the rest of her wine.
"Mom, you would need something stronger than that wine to get rid of your stress." This time mom didn't laugh. So instead of getting my head chewed off, I went to my father's chambers. As usual, he is at his computer, working. He looks up as I enter the room.
"Hey dad. I'm back."
"I can see that."
"O-kay." I start walking out of the office, but dad stopped me.
"Honey, don't forget that tomorrow is your birthday."
"How can I forget." Dad gave me a stern look but he kept on talking.
"Your mother and I have worked hard on this."
"Dad, I told you I don't want any more parties." I whined.
"We did not plan a party, but we do have a surprise for you." Now, I'm starting to get really scared.
"You promised you won't have a party."
"You have my word."
"I guess I can believe you." After that, I started to leave, but dad called me back.
"Yes dad."
"I forgot to tell you that you smell so much like a human. You need to fix that." I rolled my eyes and walked out. I went upstairs to my room. I took off my clothes and took a shower. When I was finished, I put on a tank top and some shorts and got in bed. I couldn't go to sleep, though. My thoughts were on tomorrow. My parents have done me a favor over the years by not giving me a party. When they do give me a party, I never show up and that got my parents pissed, but they forgot about it. My thoughts went back to the disasters of my first 17th birthday. That when my mind went to Roger. Sadness quickly filled me as I thought about him. Well, he is the past and I have to forget about the past. After a few minutes of laying there, I finally fell asleep.
I woke up from the sunlight shining through my window. Today is my birthday. Great. I sat up and yawned and stretched. I sat there and focused as I listened. So far I hear no one. I got up and went to the window and looked out. There was no one working outside either. I guess my parents kept their promise after all.
I went to my bathroom and took me a nice shower. Afterward, I put on white tank top and blue skinny jeans. I decided to leave my hair out. I went downstairs to the kitchen and my mom and dad was sitting at the table.
"Hey guys." I said as I got a muffin from the basket on the table. I tried studying their faces to see if they were hiding anything, but I didn't sense anything.
"Hey mom, dad, I'm going out, okay." As soon as I said that, I saw my mom's expression change to alarmed, but she changed it quickly.
"Okay, what is going on? Dad, what do you have planned?"
"Nothing sweetheart. You go do what you have to do. Just don't stay out to late. We have some news for you."
"Fine." After I hugged my mom and dad, I left the house. I got in my car and drove off. I know my parents are up to something, but I can't think of anything. I need someone to talk to so I decided to go over to one of my best friend's house, Roger. The guy I loved when I first met him at my first 17th birthday party. My parents don't know anything about him, even after all these years and we can't be together but we stayed friends.
I pull up to Roger's condo. Before I get to the door of Roger's condo, the door opens with Roger standing on the other side of the door.
"Hey Lucia."
"Hey." I said as I hugged him.
"What you doing here?"
"Oh I would love to come in, Roger." I said sarcastically as I walked past him in the condo.
"Fine. Let's talk in the living room." We went to the living room and sat down on the couch.
"Now what are you doing here?"
"You know how today is my birthday and my parents always plan a birthday party."
"Yeah."
"Well, this year, I told my parents not to give me a birthday party."
"Okay...so what's the problem?"
"I think they are hiding something from me but I can't figure out what it is."
"Just do worry about it. For all you know, it could be nothing. And if it is, we can run away together." Roger said as he gave me his sexy smile. Right then, my heart fluttered.
"Roger, you know that it can't ever happen."
"I know, I was just kidding with you."
"Good. I just want to do is have fun."
"Let's go to the beach." Roger said as he grabbed his jacket. We left the condo and walked down to the beach that is a couple blocks from the condo. When we got there, we start walking through the beach with no shoes on so the sand was warm beneath my feet. It was so quiet. All of a sudden, we see a couple coming from the direction ahead of us. I turned to Roger and smile.
"You thinking what I'm thinking?" Roger smiled back at me.
"Let's have fun." We sped our way to the couple, Roger ended up in front of the girl while I was right in front of the guy. I looked into the guy's eyes and compelled him
"Don't be afraid. Stand still." The guy's body relaxed. I turn to Roger and saw he was doing the same thing. When he finished, we both dug in to our snack. I bit into the guy's neck and blood was rushing in my mouth. The hot sensation came over me again. I swear this is better than sex. I open my eyes and looked into Roger's eyes as I drank. Dark desire was all I saw in Roger's eyes and I knew my eyes had it too. After drinking a few pints, Roger and I stopped.I did my usual routine with my victim and the guy fell to the ground. Roger's girl fell to the ground too. There was a trickle of blood on Roger's lip. I moved forward and wiped the drop with my finger and licked it off. Soon after, Roger and I ended up kissing. He pulled me in close and kissed me. I was still a little "drunk" from the blood so I didn't react. After a while, Roger pick me up and he sped to his condo. He kicked the door in and we ended up on his bed. That is when his kisses start trailing down my neck. We start ripping each other's clothes off. I start getting real hot. The rest is too good to tell. :)
***
We have been laying in this bed for a while.
"We just did it again. Didn't last week we said we was going to stop this?"
"Yeah."
"You know this is your fault." Roger sat up.
"How?"
"You know drinking blood gets me turned up. You took advantage of that fact."
"You the one who suggested it."
"You could have stopped me." I start laughing and Roger start laughing too. That is when it dawned on me.
"Shit." I said. I got out of bed and went to the bathroom.
"What?" I heard Roger say from the other side of the door.
"I forgot my parents want me to come home early. They said they have a surprise for me." I got in the shower and took a quick shower. I got out of the shower and grabbed a towel and wrapped it around me. I left out of the bathroom and put on my clothes.
"Why you rushing to get back?" he asked, already with pants on.
"I have to or my parents will kill me. I promise I will call you later to tell you the details." I gave him a quick kiss on the cheek and grabbed my purse.
"Fine. I will talk to you later." He walked me out to my car.
"I promise I will call you if the surprise is horrible." I said as I got in and drove away. When I looked in my review mirror, Roger's figure gets smaller and smaller. i do love him, but after what have happened that night, we can never be together, no matter what.
*********
I pull up to the gate and let myself in. Once I pulled up in the garage, I start getting nervous. What do mom and dad have planned? Whatever it is, there is a feeling that I won't like it. I unlock the door and walk into the house. Everything is quiet. I even concentrated, but I didn't hear nothing but heart beats.... a lot of them. That is when I start feeling even more nervous.
"Mom? Dad? What is going on." I walked into dad's studies, but he wasn't there. Then I went into the kitchen, but mom wasn't there. The butlers and maids wasn't even here. I walk over to the bar in the family foom and pour me a glass of vodka. When I was drinking it, I then noticed the note on the bar's counter. It was in mom's handwriting. I start reading and it said:
"Lucia,
Don't take another sip of that vodka. As soon as you see this note, go down in the basement. Your father and I will be waiting for you there.
Love, mother."
Damn, I hate this. She always know what I'm doing. I put the glass down and walk over to the door that led to the basement. As I opened the door, I start going down stairs until I got to the door that lead you to the basement room. Here I go. The heartbeats are louder this time. I opened up the door and I can't believe this. This is the worst thing my parents ever did.
Mom and dad was standing there in the middle of the room, but that wasn't the bad thing. Along the walls, there were many guys that looked no over 23 years old. All of them were knocked out, yet chained with each other.
"Surprise!" They said as they smiled.
"What the hell mom and dad. This is the worst thing you ever did for my birthday."
"Sweetheart, you need to get married and so this was the only other thing we could think of. You didn't want to marry any vampires that we introduced you to." mom said.
"I told you guys that I don't want to get married and I'm not ready. But instead of listening to me, you decide to ignore me and now you giving me no choice, forcing me to get married. This is not fair."
"I'm sorry, Lucia, but now we don't have any choice either. I had a meeting with the Council and they said that it is time for you to get married. You either find someone to marry or you will be forced to go through arrange marriage. They are giving us a month to figure it out. We have to follow tradition or we will suffer great consequence."
"What kind of consequences?"
"I don't even want to think about it. Just think about us."
"I rather die than to get married."
"Don't be selfish, Lucia. Think about someone but yourself for once. Would you rather go through the arranged marriage?" mom yelled.
"No, I just... Fine. I'll do it.' mom's frown went to a smile. But I was not smiling at all. I can't believe I have to do this, even though I could easily take the consequence. But, I have to think about my parents.
"Thank you, sweetheart." mom said as she hugged me.
"Whatever. I don't get it though, dad. You sre the head of the whole Council and they are telling you what to do."
"It's the rules. I can't do anything about that."
"Yeah, okay. Just tell me what I have to do." I said as I walked along the line of guys on the walls.
"Well, just choose the guy that satisfy your interest." dad said. I walk over to the guys and look at everyone carefully. So far, none of them interest me... until I get to the last guy. He had brown hair and he had a light tan to his skin. On his hands, I can see bruises and cuts, so I can tell he put up a fight when they caught him. But... the one thing I notice about him is that... he is awake. I can tell by his heart racing and his breathing has quicken. Wow. This guy is really scared. I turn back to Mom and Dad.
"I pick this boy." I said. They smiled.
"Good choice. We would take the other guys back and you can change him as soon as possible." Mom said. I can hear the guy's heart skip a beat.
"Okay." I turn back to the boy and came close to him. "You can trick my parents, but you can't trick me. I know you are awake. I will come back here later." I whisper to the boy. I can hear his heart beat racing again. After I gave him a kiss on the cheek, I left out with my parents.
After a few hours, the guards have taken the rest of the guys out the house to where they belong. After eating dinner, I wait upstairs for Mom and Dad to go to sleep. Of course it took until 3:00 am for them to go to sleep after the sex. I silently went downstairs and went into the kitchen. I got 2 cans of Coke with a bag of chips and went downstairs to the basement. I unlock the door and went inside. The guy was still hanging and he was looking right at me. I carefully shut the door to try not to make any noise. I grab a chair and sat it in front of him. I put the can of Coke down and sat down in the chair. The guy look at me suspiciously as I open the bag of chips and put one in my mouth. I can see him looking at the bag.
"You want some?" I ask
"No." he said as he look right at me.
"Suite yourself." I put another chip into my mouth.
"What are you doing here?"
"Visiting you."
"Why?"
"I can't come here to visit a friend."
"You are not my friend."
"Ouch. That hurts." I said sarcastically as I put my hand to my chest.
"I'm serious."
"I know. Just messing with you. Are you sure you don't want anything to eat... or drink."
"I'm sure."
"You are such a liar. I can hear your stomach growling. So...." I got up and put the chips on my chair. "I'm going to help you out."
"You are going to help me out? Please. I heard everything that was said earlier. I am not marrying anyone." he said.
"You think I want to get married? Right now we have no choice. But, we can figure something out and both of us can be free."
"What do you have in mind?"
"We would go through with the plan..."
No, you need to stop right there. I am not marrying any one, even if she is beautiful."
"Let me finish. Once we get married, I have to change you."
"Change me to what?"
"A vampire." he just sat there, looking shocked.
"Wait... you're a vampire?"
"I thought you knew that."
"No one tell me anything. Get away from me!" he said all loud. I quickly got in front of him and covered his mouth with my hand.
"Shh... Don't talk so loud or the guards or even my parents can hear you." he nodded his head.
"So can I finish telling my plan?" he nodded his head again.
"Okay." I slowly moved my hand from in front of his mouth.
"Now, back to what I was saying. We will get married and I'm suppose to change you, but I don't know about that yet. We will leave town and someone will mysteriously die." he looked confused when I sait this.
"How are you going to fake your own death?" he asks.
"I was talking about you. We will fake your death and I will pay you enough to be out on your own with your new identity. "
"And how am I suppose to believe you. I don't even know you. The only thing I know about you is that you kidnapped me."
"I did not kidnap you. My parents did. You could have avoided them. How did you and other guys end up in this situation?"
"I don't know. Last thing I remember is that I was walking down the street and next thing I know, I'm being attacked by some huge guys. I tried to fight back, but then things went black. Now I'm stuck in a house filled with crazy people."
"Well, just to let you know, today is my birthday."
"Oh, happy birthday... like I give a crap." he snapped.
"You know what? I'm getting tired of your attitude. I'm trying to help you out. I was going to let you free, but never mind."
"Help me out! You could have done that by not choosing me. I heard the man say that you get to choose someone and the rest will go back to their normal lives." he yelled.
"I'm sorry. It's just you were the only... you know what, never mind. I don't even have to explain myself to you. That is why I can't work with you human beings. I feast on them, not make agreements with them." I yelled back.
"Sorry princess if I didn't meet your standards." he says sarcastically.
"Go to hell." I said as I threw the can of soda at the wall, close enogh to his head. There was as much force that it went through the wall, but I didn't care.
"Hey, calm down." he yelled.
"You are lucky that is all I did. I have a bad temper and you would have been dead right now." I snapped at him.
"You are crazy!"
"Yes I am. I can be bitchy too. Now, I'm trying to help you out... no, help both of us. I don't want to be in this situation as much as you do, but we have to. I told you my plan and it would mean that we would have to tolerate each other for about a month until the wedding. Once we do as I planned, we would be rid of each other and I don't have to see you ever again. We both live, understood?"
"And what would happen if I don't go through it? The wedding thing?"
"My parents would probably kill you because you know too much. Or they will probably kill those who are close to you or your love ones first amd then kill you. Just to make you suffer." That seem to get his attention. I can hear his heart beating faster, but he kept his facial expression blank.
"Fine. But as soon as we get... married, you will let me go, right?"
"Right. Fake your death and we are done."
"Great." he says sarcastically. I start leaving the basement, but he called out to me.
"Wait... You just going to leave me down here?"
"Yes. My parebts left you down here for a reason. It wouldn't be right if I just let you go without my parents knowing. They would probably release you tomorrow and tell you everything about the marriage. Pretend you don't know, though. Oh, and just to give you a heads up, if you even attempt to escape, we have guards and security cameras around, inside and outside, the house. These guards and shapeshifters so they will kill you if ordered to." I said as I gave him a sweet smile.
"I won't try to run."
"Good and also, there is something else I have to tell you. It is a possibility that my parents and the Council might mention about changing you either before or after the wedding."
"Wait... you mean change my identity and other things, right?... Right?" I kept quiet, even though it was kind of funny to see him react this way.
"I know you do not talking about changing me into one of your kind, a vampire? I don't want to be one."
"Good night. We will talk tomorrow." I said as I quickly left the basement, but I can still hear him.
"No... No, that was not a part of the plan!" he yelled. I couldn't help but to smile. But, I couldn't help but to get nervous. I hope this plan work and I am able to keep my temper in check until this is over. If I don't, I will be short of a husband.
I couldn't sleep the whole night. All I could think of was the crazy stuff that happened yesterday. I ended up sleeping with Roger, even though I told myself I wouldn't do it anymore. Then my parents' surprise for me was the worse thing they ever done, which ended up with me being stuck with doing something I don't want to do.
