Owing a slow cooker for the first time was something that got excited about. This slow cooker recipes is an easy way to stay healthy and right on track with your lifestyle goals! It’s excitingly a relief when you can just throw everything into the pot and go about with other daily chores, and in no time, you have a meal ready.
Slow cooker brings to reality the dream of getting back home tired from work to meet a healthy and hot meal waiting for you without going through the stress of cooking. Slow cooker is perfect and highly recommend as your number one cook partner to help you with a stress less cooking experience.

Get familiar with your slow cooker
There are different sizes of slow cookers, ranging from 1-7. Bigger cooker (5-7) are best for large cut of meat and soup or cooking for more than five people or want to have leftovers. Smaller cookers are best for sauces and dips. A medium cooker is best if you are cooking for not more than four people.
Slow cooker tips:
1. Save time and effort
This is one of the major reasons so many people are attracted to the slow cooker, it is important to try and avoid recipes with lots of pre- preparations and focus on recipes without much pre-preparations. Just add all your ingredients into the slow cooker, and allow cooking by itself. Meat can be browned before adding to the slow cooker to give it color.
2. Save money with a slow cooker
When using a slow cooker, you don’t need any fancy ingredients, even cheaper cuts like chicken thighs, pork shoulder, beef brisket and lamb shoulder turns out great. Slow cooker will extract the flavors that spread throughout the whole dish with a tantalizing taste.
3. Trim fat from meat before slow cooking normally, a lot of fat is been drained away when you fry meat, but not so with the slow cooker. There is enough moisture coming from the meat and too much fat is not needed on your meat. Trimming the fat will help with the best and tasty result.
4. Don’t add too much liquid when using a slow cooker, the tightly sealed lid won’t allow the liquid to evaporate, so it’s important not to overfull the cooker with liquid, a half to two-thirds full is ideal to avoid leaking out.
5. It is advisable to Use the slow cooker low setting, the low heat helps to bring out the best flavors. Even when you are heading out, you don’t need to worry; it can take care of itself.
6. Each time the slow cooker lid is lifted, it releases some heat and it prolong the cooking time with about 15 to 20 minutes. It’s advisable to stop checking the content every time; the slow cooker is built to cook by itself.
7. It is logical to go for recipes that most can be added from the start if not all, so you can go about doing other things. Sometime, there are situations you need to add some recipe towards the end of cooking, like rice, fresh herbs and pasta, cream, cheese, very soft vegetables; like zucchini, mushrooms and tomatoes
8. Always coat the inside of your slow cooker with nonstick cooking spray or oil before using it for an easy clean up.
BREAKFAST RECIPES
Crock pot Turkey Breast with Garlic
Prep time: 20 mins
Cook time: 6 hours
Servings: 6
Ingredients
20 unpeeled garlic cloves
1 chopped carrot
1 chopped celery stalk
1 cup of onion, chopped
2-1/2 lbs of bone-in turkey breast half
1/4 tsp of fresh ground black pepper
1 tsp of paprika
1 tsp of garlic powder
1 tsp of onion powder
1 tsp of salt
1 tsp of dried thyme or 1 tbsp of fresh
1 tsp of dried rosemary or 1 tbsp of fresh
Preparations
1. Place the celery, carrot and onion in the base of a 5- to 6-Quart slow cooker.
2. Mix together the seasonings in a bowl and season the turkey breast with the seasoning by rubbing it on either the top or under the skin of the meat.
3. Arrange the meat over the vegetables and place the garlic cloves at the side of the turkey breast.
4. Cook with the lid on from 3 to 4 hours on LOW or until the garlic is very soft and the turkey is fork-tender or when an instant read thermometer inserted registers 165 degrees. Take the garlic away and set aside.
5. Place the turkey into a serving plate and remove the skin.
6. Strain the broth from the vegetables and discard any excess fat from the broth.
7. Serve turkey breast with garlic and broth.
Easy Apricot Salsa Salmon
Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 1 hour 30 mins
Servings: 2
Ingredients
4 tbsp of salsa verde
3 tbsp of apricot fruit spread
8 oz of frozen wild salmon (do NOT thaw)
Preparations
1. Spray a non-stick cooking spray on the interior of a 4 Quart slow cooker.
2. Place the frozen salmon with the skin side down into the base of the crock pot.
3. Mix the salsa and fruit spread together and spread on the salmon.
3. Cook with the lid on for 1 to 1-1/2 hours on LOW, or until the salmon flakes with a fork.
Crock-Pot Cream Steel Cut Oatmeal With Spiced Peaches
Prep time: 5 mins
Cook time: 3-4 hours
Servings: 8
Ingredients
7 1/2 cups of milk
1/8 tsp of kosher salt
1 tsp of ground cinnamon
4 tbsp of brown sugar
29 oz can of peaches in light syrup drained and juice reserved
2 cups of steel cut oatmeal
Preparations
1. Spray the insert of a slow cooker with non-stick cooking spray, then add the steel cut oats. Add the peaches with liquid into the slow cooker
2. Alternatively, first strain the liquid into the crock pot and chop the peaches into bite small pieces.
3. Add the cinnamon, salt and brown sugar, gently mix into the mixture.
4. Gently mix
