Chapter One

What are you doing here?” asked the storekeeper.

They were off the reservation they were on a trip and they stopped at a convenient store.

Just looking, I’m getting a few things,” Running Water said while getting a few things off the shelf.

Well we don’t serve your kind here, so get lost,” the storekeeper said in a rude voice.

I’ll go to a different store where they do serve my kind,” Running Water said in a polite voice.

You go do that,” said the storekeeper.

So he left the store and saw his wife Angel, walking up towards him.

Did you buy anything?” Angel asked.

No he wouldn’t let me, he doesn’t serve my kind,” Running Water said in a troubled voice.

Dad this is not right, I thought things have changed?” asked White Hawk.

I know son, but the whites today are the same as they were long ago,” Running Water said as he was starting the car.

Let’s go home,” Angel said buckling herself in.

As they arrived back on the reservation they drove up to the driveway and went inside the house. They sat down and started watch television. Then there was a knock at the door.

Who is it?” asked Running Water.

It’s me, Jimmy,” Jimmy looking through the screen door.

Haw kola” (hello friend) what brings you hear?” Running Water asked in the Lakota language.

Nothing just stopped by to say hello, and ask how was your trip,” said Jimmy.

It was fun, we had a great time, come on in,” said Running Water.

Haw kola, toeke ya un he” (hello friend, how are you)?” White Hawk asked in the Lakota language.

Washte” (good),” said Jimmy.

Washte” (good),” said White Hawk.

I was wandering if you would like to go catch some fish by the streams with my sister and I?” asked Jimmy.

Sister, you have a sister,” said White Hawk.

Yeah,” said Jimmy.

I didn’t know you had a sister?” asked White Hawk.

Well at that time she wasn’t thought of yet,” Jimmy laughing.

Oh,” smiled White Hawk.

Come on lets go get some fish,” said Jimmy.

So they fished in the stream and caught a few fish and threw them back in.

Wow we caught a few, yeah, my sister she probably could catch more than we caught,” smiled Jimmy.

Hey Jimmy,” said Lisa holding her tackle box and fishing pole.

Hey sister,” said Jimmy.

Hey,” said Lisa.

Sis, come over here, I want you to meet a friend of mine, White Hawk this is my sister Lisa,” said Jimmy.

Lisa looked at White Hawk and fainted. It was like she has never seen a Native before, and she lives on the reservation.

Oh jeez, uh, sister, sister wake up, hello,” said Jimmy.

White Hawk got some water and sprinkled it on Lisa’s face.

Huh what happened, all I remember was seeing a Native,” said Lisa

You did, he is my friend, you weren’t born yet, so you’ve never seen him,” Jimmy picking his sister up off of the ground.

Hello, I am White Hawk,” White Hawk about to shake Lisa’s hand.

Lisa,” Lisa shaking White Hawks hand.

I’ll take you home,” said Jimmy helping his sister to the car.

White grabbed their gear and looked across the stream and saw the figure, White Hawk closed his eyes and opened them again, and the figure was gone.

White Hawk are you coming?” Jimmy asked.

Yeah,” said White Hawk walking towards Jimmy and looking back.

They got into the car and drove to Jimmy’s house. When they arrived they helped Lisa up to her room where she can rest.

Wow, I can’t believe she fainted, I must be that cute,” smiled White Hawk.

I know, that’s funny, what is it with women and long hair?” laughed Jimmy.

I don’t know, I guess it depends on who has the long hair,” laughed White Hawk.

Well lets go do something while its still daylight?” asked Jimmy.

Okay lets go for a walk,” said White Hawk.

So they started walking together around the reservation.

Chapter Two

“Why do whites and Native’s hate each other so much?” White Hawk asked.

“Well I wouldn’t say hate, I think it’s because we are different,” said Jimmy.

“Oh, but were friends right?” asked White Hawk.

“Always, friends forever,” said Jimmy.

Then a couple of men by the name of Victor and James and came walking by, there were supposable friends with Jimmy, but Jimmy didn’t know who they were.

“Hey Jimmy,” said James walking up to Jimmy.

“Who are you?” asked Jimmy.

“I am James and this is Victor,” said James.

“This is my friend White Hawk, it’s nice to meet you both,” Jimmy putting his hand out to shake.

“That’s nice, were going to hang out, do you want to come, you can but leave that Indian here?” asked Victor.

“I am not going to do that, he’s my friend, and Indians come from India, the Lakota’s run this place,” said Jimmy.

“You’d rather hang out with him than with your own kind,” said Victor.

“I am a half-breed, I don’t have a kind, he is my best friend,” said Jimmy.

“I am also a half-breed but you don’t see me hanging out with Indians,” said Victor.

White Hawk looked past Victor and saw the figure standing there with hatred in his eyes, then he looked at White Hawk. White Hawk shook his head and said.

“I am leaving before I do something stupid,” said White Hawk.

“I am coming with you,” said Jimmy.

         So they walked away.

“Alright half-breed you do what you want, but when that Injun turns on you, you know where to find us,” said James.

“Whatever man, I don’t even know you guys, I’ve never seen you before,” said Jimmy walking away.

           So they both walked home.

“See you tomorrow then,” said White Hawk.

“Yes see you tomorrow on the bus,” said Jimmy closing the door.

White Hawk was walking across the street to his house, when a white car drove up and grabbed White Hawk. He looked and saw Victor and James. They drove to an old abandoned house; they dragged him inside and started beating him.

“Jimmy doesn’t like you, he can’t stand you, you make him feel weak, powerless, he told us himself,” said James kicking him in his ribs.

White Hawk looked out the door and saw the figure again he was walking up to the house.

“How could he tell you that when he doesn’t even know you,” said White Hawk in pain.

“He knows us, he did tell us that,” said Victor.

“He wouldn’t say that, you’re just trying to get me to fight him, and I am not going to do that either,” said White Hawk.

“Whatever, come on James lets finish him,” said Victor.

White Hawk looked at the figure standing above his head and then looked back at Victor and James. So they started kicking him on both sides of his ribs and his stomach and on the back, throwing him around up against the walls, and punching him. The figure ran up and started talking to White Hawk in his head, White Hawk looked up and was looking right at the figure in his eyes, Whit Hawk got up and he had hatred in his eyes, he turned around and smiled, he fought Victor and James, he started kicking them and punching them, then he threw them out the window, breaking the windows and leaving them there on the ground moaning. Then White Hawk looked up the figure raised his arm and vanished.

White Hawk stumbled back to Jimmy’s house, he knocked on the door. He didn’t want to go        home. Jimmy opened the door and saw White Hawk.

“White Hawk, hurry come in,” said Jimmy in a shocked voice.

“Jimmy, oh my goodness, White Hawk are you okay, do you want me to call your father?” asked Jimmy’s mother in a worried voice.

“No I’ll spend the night,” said White Hawk.

So Jimmy helped White Hawk into his room and laid him down on his bed.

“What happened, who did this to you?” Jimmy asked

“It was Victor and James, they grabbed me and threw me in their car and drove to an old a banded house and started beating me. They said you hated me and that I make you feel weak and powerless,” White Hawk said in pain and anger.

“Whoa, White Hawk, you know I would never say any of those things, you are my best friend, they want us to hate each other and fight,” said Jimmy getting a warm cloth and wiping his face.

“I know,” said White Hawk.

Chapter Three

So when it was morning, White Hawk woke up to Jimmy applying ointments on his sides to make the swelling go down, he was very sore and his sides were tender to the touch. Then Jimmy helped him up slowly out of bed and over to his house and helped him inside and sat him down on the couch.

“Son what happened?” asked Angel.

“It’s my fault, I should have walked him home, a couple of guys beat him up last night,” said Jimmy.

“That’s why I didn’t come home last night,” said White Hawk in pain.

“Do you want to go to school or stay home?” asked Jimmy.

White Hawk looked out the window and saw the figure standing there in the street.

“No, I am going, I can’t miss anymore,” said White Hawk getting up slowly from the couch.

Big Ben walked over to the window and looked out, but nothing was out there.

“What is it?” asked Nuka.

“White Hawk looked out the window for a while, but then I looked and saw nothing,” said Big Ben.

So they walked out of the house and walked to the bust stop. When the bus arrived Jimmy looked at White Hawk with a concerned look.

“Are you sure you want to go to school today?” asked Jimmy.

“Jimmy I’m fine, it only hurts when I move a certain way,” said Whit Hawk.

So they got on the bus and walked all the way to the back of the bus, Victor stuck his foot out and tripped Jimmy. Jimmy fell and he got up quickly looked at Victor, then he walked towards the back of the bus.

“Jimmy don’t let them walk over you, like they did me, if you’re not careful they’ll rob you blind,” said White Hawk.

So they bus drove away and into the school. When it came to a stop at the school all the children and young people got off the bus. Jimmy and White Hawk were the last ones off the bus.

“Hey Jimmy, you still want to be friends with this guy?” asked Victor.

“Yes, he is my friend, it looks like you had a date with him last night,” Jimmy smiling.

“Yeah, so,” said James rubbing his jaw.

“Why don’t you leave us alone?” asked Jimmy.

“What are you going to do if we don’t?” asked Victor.

“I will fight you, until you leave us alone, and I will make your life miserable,” said Jimmy angrily.

“What? You can’t fight, we’ll beat you to a pulp little man,” James getting close to Jimmy’s face.

“No, but I can, I proved it last night,” White Hawk standing straight up as much as he could.

“I have to give it to Injun, you beat the crap out of us, it was dark so we couldn’t see very well, so you took advantage of that,” said Victor walking up to White Hawk.

“But it’s not dark now,” said James smiling.

“Yeah their days are now, let’s finish this,” said Victor to James.

“Guys, come on, time for school,” said the Native Woman.

“Yeah we better listen to the teacher,” said Victor looking at White Hawk.

White Hawk looked past the Native teacher and saw the figure standing in the door way, so Victor turned around, White Hawk pushed Victor making him fall on the steps.

“Toka he hwo heenun shun ye wa cetan” (what’s wrong, don’t do that White Hawk)?” asked the Native teacher.

“Ha ho” (look at this),” White Hawk lifting his shirt up.

“They did that last night to him, and this morning they tripped me on the bus,” said Jimmy.

“I see White Hawk already handled them, they are bruised as well,” said the teacher helping Victor up.

“Don’t help that “wa sicha” (white man) that’s what he wants you to do,” said White Hawk looking at the Native teacher with anger.

“I don’t know what’s gotten into you lately but it needs to stop, this is a side of you I’ve never seen before and I don’t like it, now both of you go inside and go to class,” said the Native teacher.

So they both walked into the classroom and sat down.

“You want to leave?” asked Jimmy looking at White Hawk in pain.

“No, I am fine,” White Hawk out of breath and in pain.

Then James and Victor walked in and went to the back of the classroom and sat down.

“Alright students were going to have a keynote speaker here with us today, so pay attention?” asked the teacher.

So the speaker came in and said,

“Hello, my name is Tommy Lee Jones,” said the Keynote speaker.

All the kids laughed and giggled.

“Yeah you thought that was funny, so did I, it’s good to laugh, now some of our people are what the elders call a lost generation,” said the keynote speaker.

“So your saying were the lost generation, well you tell us what we should do then, how can we walk the red road when you have people like that, who try to make us hate one another, or people making money off of us,” said White Hawk looking back at Victor and James.

“Well stay away from them and the drugs and gangs, and the drinking of course, tell stories, keep them alive, speak the language to others, so our language can live on, and people like that are ignorance, and they all care about hurting others, they’re the ones that are afraid of change and afraid of what is going to happen in the future,” said the Keynote speaker.

“Why do Native’s and White Americans hate each other? It was in the past and you can’t go back and change it, they shouldn’t hate us today, and we shouldn’t hate them. It was our ancestors and their ancestors that hated each other, they try to help us today and we just throw it back in their faces and blame everything on the whites for how we live?” asked the Native girl.

“That’s a very good question, you are right about all of it, we shouldn’t hate them and they shouldn’t hate us. The White Americans have brought us food, clothes, and other stuff, but we just throw back in there faces or throw out and let it pile up on the ground and get ruined, and say we don’t need your help, we also blame them on how were living, and we want people to feel sorry for us, but yet when they do, we say we don’t need your help. It makes us bad as they are, it makes us ignorant and can also lead your generation and mine off the red road, we start drinking and beating our children and wives, suicide, because there is nothing here, nothing to do, but yet we don’t blame ourselves for trying to make it a better place, instead we blame others for our problems and not even try to make it right. Even the whites are living like we are, in poverty, but they do not blame us for it, but yet we blame them for our poverty. Yes we all have our problems but blaming one another is not going to help,” said the keynote speaker.

The bell rang and the keynote speaker said,

“Never forget who you are, or where you came from, don’t be ashamed of who you are, keep you head of and keep going, things will get better,” said the keynote speaker.

Chapter Four

Then all the kids got up and left the classroom.

“Wow, that was a good keynote speaker, he spoke the truth,” said Jimmy with a smile.

“Why are you smiling like that for?” White Hawk asked.

“I have an Idea,” said Jimmy with a grin.

White Hawk looked over towards Victor and James and saw the figure standing next to them.

“You’re going to use the keynote speaker’s advice aren’t you?” asked White Hawk looking away.

“Yes I am,” Jimmy said with a big smile.

Jimmy walked over towards Victor and James.

“Hey,” said Jimmy.

“Oh boy here we go,” said White Hawk walking with Jimmy.

“What do you want half-breed?” asked James.

“To talk, if you want to be friends, you have to be friends with White Hawk, we shouldn’t hate one another, this is now, it’s time to make a difference on our Reservation, help our people,” said Jimmy.

“It will never happen, this place can’t change because the people won’t change, so get lost, half-breed before I beat you up,” said James getting angry.

“Jimmy lets go,” White Hawk shoving him into the locker, the figure told him to do it. So he did it.

“What are you doing, are you crazy, there never going to quit it’s in their blood,” White Hawk pushing Jimmy into his classroom, and White Hawk walked down the hall and went into his classroom. James was in Jimmy’s class and Victor was in White Hawks class.

“Hey White Hawk, this came from Jimmy, he told me to give it to you,” said Victor handing him a note.

White Hawk grabbed it and looked beside him and there was the figure standing over him like he wanted to read it to, the figure said,

“Revenge,” said the figure.

White Hawk looked at him in confusion and then he opened the letter and the figure made White Hawks eyes fill with anger before he could read the note, he just crumbled it up and threw it, he looked up and the figure was standing in the door way, White Hawk got up from his desk and walked out of the classroom, Victor followed from behind.

White Hawk swung the door open and Victor was standing inside the door. White Hawk walked upto Jimmy and got in his face.

“Let me tell you something, here are my thoughts on the white eyes, they are liars, they are selfish, and they call us dirty savages, they don’t respect the land they walk on. Jimmy you just made an enemy, Victor and James I suggest you keep your distance, I just might throw you through that window. You hang out with your kind, and I’ll hang out with mine,” White Hawk turning around and walking out the school. The figure was waiting on him outside on the steps.

“What was that,” said Jimmy in confusion. What did you guys do, we’ve been friends since we were babies,” said Jimmy.

“Alright students settle down,” said Jimmy’s teacher.

Jimmy put his head down on his desk and moaned. White Hawk was walking home, as he was walking he went past Jimmy’s house and went to his house and slammed the door.

“Whoa, “toka he hwo” (what’s wrong)?” asked Running Water.

“Those “wa sicha” (white men),” said White Hawk sitting down on the couch.

“Takula nunwe” (what is it), was it those guys?” asked Running Water.

“Victor and James and now Jimmy,” said White Hawk.

“Sounds to me a fight gone wrong,” said Running Water.

“I guess,” said White Hawk.

“Hey dad,” said Big Ben walking in the house.

“Son,” said Running Water.

“Is Nuka home from school yet?” asked Big Ben.

“Yes, he’s doing his homework,” said Running Water.

“Sit down I’ve got some news,” said Big Ben.

“Oh,” said Running Water.

“Yeah, Nuka get down here?” asked Big Ben.

“What is it?” asked Nuka running down the stairs.

“Okay, brother is coming down to visit,” said Big Ben with excitement.

“Great, now I can show him my moves that I made up,” Nuka said about to jump off the couch and do a kick.

“I don’t think so young man, sit down,” said Running Water.“Brother is coming that great,” said White Hawk in a calm voice. He settled down a little bit.

Then there was a knock at the door.

“Jimmy,” said Running Water.

“Hi, I had no idea what he was talking about,” said Jimmy.

“I know son, you guys let those men get to you both,” said Running Water.

“I know,” said Jimmy.

“White Hawk, its Jimmy,” said Running Water.

White Hawk got up from the couch and was about to walk upstairs.

“No sir, you come here now,” said Running Water.

“What do you want half-breed?” asked White Hawk.

“I want my friend back, I don’t know what you’re talking about or whatever those guys told you is not true, you should know that, I am your friend, I would never do anything to hurt you,” said Jimmy.

“Lies, it’s all lies, it’s in their blood, they don’t know any better,” said White Hawk in anger.

“What does your heart tell you,” said Jimmy crying.

“Are you crying, seriously all whites are wimps,” said White Hawk.

“White Hawk quit,” said Big Ben.

“It’s alright,” said Jimmy.

“Good, now leave, you’re not welcomed here, I didn’t invite you,” said White Hawk pushing Jimmy of the steps.

“Stop it White Hawk, don’t do that to him,” Angel went to go pick him up.

“I am fine Angel,” said Jimmy dusting himself off.

“Don’t help him, he is the enemy,” said White Hawk in anger.

“This stops now, what is wrong with you, why are you acting like this all of a sudden?” asked Big Ben.

“It’s in my blood as much as it is in the white eyes blood to treat us like dirt,” said White Hawk.

“Is it in your blood to break up a good friendship,” said Big Ben.

“Yes, I’ve taken all I wanted from the white eyes, no more, my warriors and I won’t take it anymore,” said White Hawk running upstairs and slamming the door.

“Well this is good bye,” said Jimmy.

“Jimmy wait,” said Angel.

Jimmy kept walking towards his house.

Chapter Five

Come morning, it was quiet at the dinner table, nobody talked.

“Son, you should feel sorry for yourself, for doing that to Jimmy,” said Angel.   The figure was standing in front of the window looking in. White Hawk looked back at his mother.

“Mom, stop, he is white, if he didn’t want to be my friend he could of told me in person,” said White Hawk.

“Maybe he was scared to,” said Angel.

“Good, he should be scared I have to go to school now,” said White Hawk walking to school.

When he arrived to school he went to his locker, when he opened the door a note fell out. He didn’t open it up or anything he tore it up and threw it away.

“What is going on,” said Whit Hawk.

“Who are you talking to babe?” asked Mary.

“Nobody,” said White Hawk closing his door.

“You’ve been doing that lot lately,” said Marry.

“Not all the time,” said White Hawk.

“Yes you have,” said Mary.

“Come on lets go,” said White Hawk taking Mary to her class.

So they walked in and sat down, Jimmy tapped White Hawk on the shoulder he turned around.

“Did you get my note?” asked Jimmy.

White Hawk didn’t say anything, he just turned around. Then Victor and James walked inside and sat down next to Jimmy.

“Hey Jimmy were having a party after school you want to come, there’ll be smokes and drinks?” asked James.

“No, I don’t smoke or drink, so take it somewhere else you,” said Jimmy getting angry.

White Hawk turned around and made a nasty comment.

“I thought all white like to drink and smoke, like us Natives,” said White Hawk.

“I’m not white, not all whites drink and smoke,” said Jimmy.

White Hawk pulled a pack of smokes out of his back pocket, eight of White Hawks friends saw them and came over there.

“I didn’t know you smoked, I’m going to tell your parents,” said Jimmy.

“You don’t know everything, go ahead tell, I don’t care,” said White Hawk.

“Boys sit down please,” said the Native teacher.

The teacher walked out of the classroom and got the principal.

“Look your old man wants us to go to the pow wow in Alberquqe , you know to try and make our friendship work again, he called me last night,” said Jimmy.

White Hawk grabbed Jimmy by the collar of his shirt and got close to his face.

“I’ll think about it,” White Hawk letting go of Jimmy’s collar.

The he told his friends to leave and go so they went towards the door and the teacher opened it along with the principle.

“White Hawk where are you going?” asked the principle.

“Why do you care?” asked White Hawk angry.

“You’re angry I understand that,” said the Principle.

“You don’t understand, the white think they own everything and everyone, they think they can still treat us like they did long ago,” White Hawk said in anger.

“They do not know own anything here, we the Lakota people run this place, this is as to stop now,” said the principle.

“Don’t worry, I’m not coming back,” said White Hawk.

“White Hawk stop this now?” asked the principle.

“Who’s going to stop me, you old man,” White Hawk said walking out of the class room.

“So you want some drinks, I know where to get some,” said White Hawk’s friend.

“Yeah,” said White Hawk pulling smoke out of his pocket.

“Let’s go then,” said Whit Hawk’s friend.

“Smoke,” said White Hawk.

“Sure,” said White Hawk’s friend.

Jimmy went home and went next door.

“Jimmy what did he say?” asked Running Water.

“He said he’ll thing about it,” Jimmy sitting on the steps outside with Running Water.

“Jimmy, is that you, come on in, how are you?” asked Angel.

“Not good,” White Hawk grabbed me by the collar and said he’ll think about going to the pow wow, it shocked me, I don’t know if you know, but White Hawk was smoking in school,” said Jimmy.

“I wonder where he got them from?” asked Angel.

“I’ll go check is room for some more,” said Big Ben going upstairs.

Big Ben went into White Hawks room and looked everywhere, the he looked under his bed and found a shoe box, it had two packs of smokes and a knife inside, and he grabbed it and went down stairs. Running Water opened it.

“I think we need to take him to the doctor he is either cutting himself, or he’s about to cut somebody else,” said Big Ben.

“Why?” Angel asked worried.

“Well he talks to nothing, you’ll be talking to him and he looks past you and then looks right back at you, and he stares a lot also his attitude and behavior is changing and getting worse,” said Big Ben.

“Yeah, he told me a long time he kept seeing a shadow figure, it was a blur and that he couldn’t make it out, and now maybe he can see it more clearly now,” said Jimmy.

“We should get him tested,” said Big Ben.

“Tested for what? He is not crazy,” said Angel.

“Mom, he see’s things that we cannot see, we need to take him to a white doctor, they can help,” said Big Ben.

“I’ll call around to make an appointment,” said Angel going upstairs.

“Well it’s getting late, I’ll be going home now, I think White Hawk is going to stay with his new friends,” said Jimmy.

“Alright, thank you for telling us,” said Running Water.

So they all went upstairs and went to bed. Next morning came Big Ben was up and eating breakfast, Nuka was getting dressed.

“Nuka are you coming,” said Big Ben standing in the door way with his pickup keys.

“I’m coming,” Nuka running down the stairs.

Chapter Six

So he dropped Nuka at the school and drove away to work. He pulled up into the Sioux Nation Shopping Center and went inside.

“Hey Big Ben how’s it?” asked the manager.

“Washte” (good), just dropped my brother off at school. Did we get anything in the back yet, like those t-shirts we ordered with our four fathers on them?” asked Big Ben.

“No not yet, the truck is late at delivering as always,” laughed the manager.

Big Ben went behind the counter and worked the cash register. Jimmy walked in.

“Haw cola” (hello friend),” said Big Ben.

“Haw” (hello),” said Jimmy.

“Aren’t you supposed to be in school Jimmy?” asked Big Ben.

"Yeah, but I didn’t go because White Hawk, I figured he wouldn’t notice me not there,” said Jimmy putting the coke on the counter.

“Jimmy you know it’s not him, that’s why we’re taking him to the doctors soon,” said Big Ben.

“When you do, I want to come to, he my friend, and he’ll do the same for me,” Jimmy grabbing his coke and walking out of the store.

Back at the school, White Hawk was in the classroom doing his work, then all of a sudden he looked up and saw the figure standing in the door way.

“White Hawk, you defeated some whites, I want you to go in the men’s bathroom and women’s bathroom to write our words on the mirrors with your blood?” asked the figure.

“I need to go to the restroom?” asked White Hawk.

“Go ahead,” said the Native teacher.

So he got up and went to he men’s bathroom he checked and then he looked and locked the door. The figure appeared again.

“Now write our words,” said the figure.

White Hawk pulled his pockets knife out and cut his finger deep so the blood would keep coming and he wrote on the mirrors. “All white men and women, get off Lakota land, you don’t belong with us, get off or die.”

White Hawk grabbed a paper towel and wrapped his finger in it. Unlocked the door and wrote it also in the women’s bathroom as well.

“Now, go get Jimmy and grab a teacher and wipe your blood on their faces, telling them this is a warning if you do not get off Lakota land,” said the figure.

White Hawk looked out the door and saw a teacher coming down the hall way, a white teacher. He grabbed her and pulled her inside and locked the door. She looked at the mirror and back at White Hawk. He was angry. White Hawk grabbed her and wiped his blood all over her, she screamed and ran to the principal’s office; he walked out of the bathroom looking for Jimmy.

“White Hawk!” shouted the principle Warren.

White Hawk smiled and turned around and walked towards the principle.

“Don’t listen to them, your better than they are, come to my office, we’ll call your parents, so you can get help,” said Principle Warren.

Principle Warren had to tie his hands up while the nurse wrapped his finger up. Then his face changed, he was calm.

“His moods change, I don’t even think he knows what he doing half the time,” said Principle Warren.

The nurse brought White Hawk to his office.

“Come on, sit down,” said Principle Warren.

White Hawk sat down and looked out the door and saw the figure again.

“Hello, this is Principle Warren, I am calling on behalf of your son, you need him to go get help heis sick,” said Principle Warren.

“Yes, we know, we are on our way,” said Running Water.

“I got a call from dad, are you okay,” Nuka concerned.

“I am fine,” said White Hawk.

Nuka could tell deep down, into his eye that he wants to know what is happening to himself, but could not escape it.

“Mom and dad are coming, to take you to the doctors,” said Nuka sitting beside his brother.

Running Water and Angel came running inside.

“Sweetheart are you alright?” asked Angel.

“Why does everybody keep saying that, I am fine,” said White Hawk.

“Can I see both of you in my office?” asked Principle Warren.

So they walked inside his office and sat down.

“Your son is showing signs,” said Principle Warren.

“Sign?” asked Angel.

“Yes, I also had the same signs growing up, he is showing signs of Schizophrenia, he see’s things we cannot see, his attitude changes, anger, violence, and threats, those are some of the signs,” said Principle Warren.

“We knew something was different but we couldn’t make it out,” said Running Water.

“Yes he needs to see a doctor quickly and get checked in before it controls him,” said Principle Warren.

“Were going right now,” said Angel.

“Come on son, were taking you to get help. Nuka call your brother tell him where were going,” said Running Water.

White Hawk got up and saw the figure again, he got angry again.

“Why, there is nothing wrong with me, I am helping our people, our warriors,” angered White Hawk.

“Son, helping our people does not mean hurting others, and that is what you’re doing, it’s not good,” said Running Water.

“Come on, dear lets go,” said Angel.

So they walked out of the school and got in the car and drove to the doctor’s office.

Chapter Seven

Back at the Lakota Sioux Shopping Center Big Ben was in a hurry at the cash register.

“Hey can you cover for me, there taking my brother to the hospital?” asked Big Ben.

“Sure go,” said the Manager.

As he was about to leave, Spotted Eagle his older brother came walking in.

“Big Ben how’s it?” asked Spotted Eagle.

“Spotted Eagle, I’m glad you’re here, we have to go now,” said Big Ben.

“Go, where, what happened?” asked Spotted Eagle.

“They’re taking White Hawk to the hospital,” said Big Ben.

“Why, what happened, what’s going on?” asked Spotted Eagle.

“Come on, I’ll tell you on the way,” said Big Ben.

They walked out and got into the pickup and drove away.

“Now, tell me what’s going on?” asked Spotted Eagle.

“White Hawk is getting bad, he’s got more attitude, more violent, especially towards Jimmy, he’s getting worse, he said he’s trying to help our people, but he’s really hurting them,” said Big Ben.

“Wow, I hope they can help,” said Spotted Eagle.

They arrived at the hospital or doctor’s office and caught up with the family and sat down in the waiting room. Finally the doctor came out and sat down next to them.

“Well he does have signs of Schizophrenic,” said the doctor.

“What should we do?” asked Running Water.

“Well we can admit him to a hospital where he can get help and on medication,” said the doctor.

“I want to know, how did he get it?” Angel asked.

“Well it runs in the family, somewhere down the line a family member past it on to the next, so Running Water carries the gene and passed it on to the child, do you know anybody in your family who has it?” asked the doctor.

“Yes, but he’s long gone, my great-great grandfather had it, we just didn’t know what it was called,” said Running Water.

“True,” said the doctor.

“We want our son to get better,” said Angel.

“I’ll sign him up today for the facility, but he will never be better, because he has to live with it for the rest of his life,” said the doctor.

They looked at each other and Angel started crying.

“It’s what has to be done, he needs it,” said Running Water.

“I know, but were sending him to a place that has crazy, psycho people in it,” said Angel.

“Angle our son needs help,” said Running Water.

“I know, I just hope were doing the right thing,” said Angel.

“We are mom, he needs this, besides when he gets better he’ll be home white us and he’ll be back to his old self,” said Nuka.

“Jimmy what are you doing here?” asked Angel still crying.

“He is my friend, he needs me more, than ever,” said Jimmy.

“Were glad you here, he will also be glad you’re here,” said Running Water.

“Hey Jimmy,” said Spotted Eagle.

“Spotted Eagle, it’s been a while,” said Jimmy.

“Yes to long,” said Spotted Eagle.

“It sure has,” said Jimmy.

So the doctor admitted White Hawk to a facility in Phoenix, Arizona where he will be treated for Schizophrenic for 10 years or until he gets better. White Hawk came out of the office and hugged everybody and went with the people that were going to take him to the facility in Arizona. White Hawk’s family watched White Hawk leave the hospital. White Hawks family is doing the right thing. In ten years he will be back to his old self. He won’t be seeing anymore of the figure. He will be free.

“Be good son,” said Running Water.

As White Hawk was walking out the door and the doors closed behind him. He was gone, but not for long he’ll be back soon.
