The Sun Meets the Ocean
Gentle breathing across the waves
the waters ripple and the palm trees sway
the sun dives in the water and stays for a while
the sky reflecting its magenta smile
We watch the tide dance as the birds sing
and the steady beating of their colorful wings
And as the gentle rhythm beats comes and goes
I swing in the hammock hanging low
My fingers brush against the smooth sand
You hear me snoring, with a book in my hand
It's red velvet cover, and gold letter print
You can't look away, you're drawn to it
It's the book I've been writing in every night
The book I never finished, the book I never might
Then you realize, that you've never read it before
You read the cover but your eyes want more
You slide the book out of my grip
You look over to me and bite your lip
You promised you would wait until I was done
But you hate waiting, it brings you boredom
You're fingers slide across the soft velvet
You're eyes yet again, showing regret
But you reassure yourself, you say it’s okay
You take a deep breath and open it anyway
You gasp in shock, breathless for a while
Then your wide-eyed expression changes to the biggest smile
Because in this one book there’s only one sentence
Only three words and only one promise
I love you
