Secrets and Love

Heaven is a place on Earth

I stared at his beautiful hair. He saw me, and I quickly looked away. He sat down beside me. "Hey aren't you Adriana?" he asked. "Y-yes, S-Scott," I blurted out. "I've b-been wondering," he started. "You're beautiful, and I was wondering if you'd want to my wife, er girlfriend." I cocked my head. My natural black hair with red undertones fell over my sun burned shoulder. (Ouch, and it hurts. But I put on Aloe Vera gel, so it should heal.) His long blond curly hair was wrapped in a ponytail and he had diamonds in his perfect ears. I felt happy, but also confused. Why did he say wife? He cocked his head.

"Adry?" he asked. "Oh...uh...sure......of course." I felt butterflies racing up to my heart. He smoothed a lock of my hair back, and I stared into his green eyes. "You're so beautiful. I've loved you since preschool. I can't....nevermind. The point is, is that I love you, Adriana. So much." Regina, the most popular girl in school, leader of the Secret Sexy Beauties, and my ex-best friend and Scott George's ex girlfriend was glaring at me. Everyone knew she still loved him. Scott saw her, glared at her, and turned around.

"Ignore her. She couldn't hurt you anyways, because if she did, I'd kill her." Sexy Scott said."I was wondering, do you want to go on a date with me?"

"Yes..." I muttered. He bent forward, stared into my ocean blue eyes, and kissed me. I felt oozy all over.

"I love you," he whispered. "I don't want to hurt you in any way." He touched my hand. "The reason why she broke you off her little clique was because she found out I've wanted you all along. She's a total bum anyway. I'm sorry. It's my fault you broke up. I should have been clear from the beginning. I wish I was." He kissed me again. He gazed at my hair.

The bell rang. Everybody except nerds and brownosers were late. He carried both my bags, including his own, to our class. We chose a private spot together in the back. People stared at us. I heard whispers. "Why are they walking together?" "Are they dating?" "She's his ex-girlfriend's ex-best friend. What happened?" People gossiped all through school. He would kiss me out in the halls. We both got dirty looks from the Secret Sexy Beauties. He drove me home later.
Ryan, my foster dad, was not happy. "Not happy." he said as I walked through the door. As I explained things to him, he tried to keep a straight face, but broke down and smiled. "So that's why she hates you and did graffiti on my car. I suppose I can let this one slide." He ruffled my hair. I went upstairs to my big room. Ryan's a part-time real estate agent who sells everything, and a part-time car dealer, so he works a lot.

I actually felt bad for not calling first. If it weren't for Ryan, I'd be in an orphanage or dead now. Both my parents committed suicide. First Daddy, then Mom. Ryan is a big guy with brown hair and framed glasses. I organized my tote bag and handbag. I knew something wasn't quite right. But what?

I tossed and turned in bed all night. Eventually I woke up...to see a pair of big red eyes staring at me. I screamed and hopped up. "Whoa...whoa...it's okay...it's me..." said a familiar voice. "Scott?" I asked. The creature nodded. I heard footsteps in the hall. Ryan. Scott hid in my closet. "Adriana, are you okay? What happened?" "I...fell out of bed." Ryan cocked his head. "How'd you get over by your closet?" "I freaked out." "Okay. I'm just happy no weird creature is in here." "Ow!" The 'Ow' was Scott! Ryan straightened up, walked over to my closet, and opened it up. He gasped when he saw Scott. "Adriana, get away from here." "But Ryan, he's harmless." Ryan looked at me. "Baby, what are you talking about?" "I'm part Angel, in fact." Scott said. "If I go to bed and wake up, will this just be a dream?" "Nope." "Can we talk about this in the morning?" "It's morning now." The sun was just breaking over the clouds.

While Ryan and Scott talked, I glanced out the window. I showered and dressed.

________________________________________________________________________

While she showered and dressed, I talked to her foster father, Ryan. I was hungry, and avoided looking directly at him. I wanted her so much, and I'd screwed up already. I knew she loved me, too, but I needed to avoid telling or showing her my true form. I had shown her my true form. I knew if my people knew, I'd get arrested, or worse. I told Ryan this. "You've been stalking her for over a year?" he said, surprised. "Yes. But if I get found out, I'll get arrested."
"Okay. Are you planning on taking her to school?" "No, but I will if need be." "Okay, you need to take her. If she gets bullied by Regina, you'll need to defend her at school, because I can only protect her at home and out." "I understand."

I dressed and waited for Adriana outside. Her ex-boyfriend drove by. "Hey you, you'd better watch yourself!" he flipped me off and drove on. I got in the car and waited for her. She came out, wearing a dress with pink flowers. She looked beautiful. Her makeup was natural looking, except for the eyeliner, which she'd traced all around her eyes, which she usually doesn't do.

I opened the door for her and shut it. I got in the driver's seat and turned the key in the ignition. I backed up in my Corvette, and stared behind me. Suddenly, Regina and Adriana's ex blocked the way. "Move!" I told them. "Whatever, Scott, I don't like you anymore." "Then how come you kicked Adriana out of your little clique and am in the way? With Adriana in my car?"

She didn't say anything. "Because Adriana's a whore. She needs a total hair removal, like Britney Spears." "You can cut the chase and actually use a condom when you have sex!" Adriana said. "Nice." I turned around. Ryan was halfway out the window, a broomstick in his hand. He was smiling. "And if you don't leave them alone, I will use this baby. I was a blackbelt in my twenties."

"Was. Was a blackbelt. Now your fat and old. It's no wonder you took Adriana in. You're a loner." Ryan quickly began to open the front door. The bees moved.

"Are you really part Angel?" Adriana asked. "Yes." I told her. "My mother was a human, and a very religious woman who studied language. My father was one of God's Angels. He is in heaven now. I do miss him, but I've got Mom. The real reason why my irises are really red is because of Oriens." "The demon lord?" "Yes. He attacked my family, insulted my God, blabbered on about Lucifer, and how God shouldn't have kicked him out of Heaven. Personally, I think he deserved it." "I agree. If you rebel against God, you'll end up in certain places." I nodded. Suddenly I realized this was my first deep conversation not about us with her. I told her this. She grinned. "It is!"

She started singing a familiar song. "What are you singing?" I asked her. She grinned again. "It's called 'Heaven Is A Place On Earth'. There's different versions now, so I'm singing the original. Na na na na na. That's the tune. The beat is like da da da, da da da da, da da da dee-da dut dut dut. They say in heaven, love comes first, we'll make Heaven a Place On Earth!!"

I drove her to school. I walked to my locker, which wasn't far from hers. I put my bag and other stuff away. I grabbed my binder and my textbook and walked to her. "Ready, babe?" "Yeah." Our way was momentarily blocked by The Secret Sexy Beauties.

"Come on, Scott. You know who you are meant to be with." Regina said. I glanced at Adriana. "I do." I said. "I'm meant to be with Adriana. She's my whole world. She's certainly a better girlfriend than you were." The Secret Sexy Beauties gasped. "In what way? Being obsessed?" "Exactly. All you really care about is yourself." She didn't say anything to me. But to my love..."You know, I could really use your face. My butt ran away." Giggles. "So your saying you have a flat ass?" Adriana said.

Everyone else thought that was funny. "And trust me, I'd rather have a fat-ass for a boyfriend than a dumb-ass." Adriana said, knowing what Regina's next insult would be. Regina flipped her off. Adriana gave her a loser sign.

I glanced at Scott. "Nice one, babe." he said, wrapping his arm around me. I felt his warmth, his strength. His love. I knew he probably loved me more than I loved him. Finding out that he was part angel was amazing. He'd shared an amazing secret with me. He trusted me. He loved me.

When we reached English, a few cameras went off. Scott covered my face. He kissed my hair, then we sat down together near the back. We held hands. I felt adrenaline go through my veins. Georgette, a total nerd, winked at MY BOYFRIEND!!!! I felt jealousy go through me, and my grip tightened. "Calm down, a thaisce."

"I've been stalking you since kindergarten, literally." Scott said as we sat down at a table. He sat beside me so he could easily kiss or hug me. I felt a little creeped out. I wondered if Ryan KNEW. Ryan was all I had. He had been my mother's high school sweetheart, and he loved her like Severus Snape did with Lily Potter. He would sometimes stare at her picture, or gaze at me like I was her. He even called me 'Violet' once, which was my mom's name.

Scott blinked. "Adry?" "Oh, sorry, I was thinking about something else." "I told your foster father everything. I doubt he believes me, though. I know he thinks my red eyes are fake and my wings are plastic. Adriana, I love you so much. I don't think I could live without you. You mean everything to me." I felt a shiver run down my back. Why was he saying this? Why was he saying we were meant to be? Did he like another girl after all? My heart told me no, but my brain told me yes, from what I've heard about players.

I found my locker afterwards. I quickly applied some lip gloss and a little bronzer. Makeup was a must in the world of popularity. I'd lost all my friends just because Regina told them to. Unfortunately, everyone listened to her. Even my two best friends, Samantha and Alex. Alex had been boyfriend material, and we'd flirted for months. He was finally going to ask me out, but Regina stepped in. After hearing this, Ryan offered to sign me up for this class for teens with problems like bullies and love problems.

I heard a familiar voice say "I can't believe I listened to you. You don't care about anyone but yourself, and the bad news is, you got your way." I looked up. It was Alex. He had bright blonde hair and a fresh, prominent face. "Adriana? I'm sorry. I'm really sorry. I can't believe I listened to that ho. I was wondering if you'd want to give our relationship a try? I'd been wanting you since second grade, and I screwed it up. Can you please forgive me?" I was shocked. "Alex, that was a while ago. Besides, I'm sort of dating Scott George. But we can still be friends." "It's worth it to have you back. I should have listened to you. A good boyfriend always listens. Never ignores." "Can I have your number?" He looked surprised. "I thought you had my number?" "I erased it." "785-853-4123."

"Hey luscious." Scott hugged and kissed me in front of Alex. He looked at him. "Before you get rid of something great, ignore the whore that's preventing you from keeping it." Alex gave him a silent You'd better get off her or I'll kill you look. I ignored him. I wanted Scott. I'd gotten over Alex surprisingly quickly. Guess I didn't like him that much.

Regina had lost a follower. "Whatevs. I am the most beautiful, most perfect, most popular person in this school." she said to herself as she stared at her reflection in her locker. Her long blonde hair had reached her lower back. We all knew she'd cut it this week. Alex glanced at her. "She's definitely the most confident." he said. I secretly hoped she'd lose another soon.

I hoped that this dook wouldn't touch her. I loved Adriana, I truly did. She meant everything to me. Being with her would make me. Being with Regina had broken me. She was the most conceited, selfish, whorish, girl I knew. I knew now that being with Regina for Adriana wasn't smart. Adry had lost friends, a future boyfriend, and her reputation because of me.

I'd told Ryan it was my fault. His words were 'I truly believe you are to blame for this, Scott.' I wanted to see if he did believe me, but I was already late. I'd adopted my mother's last name because my father was an angel. A real one. I took Adry to her next class. She didn't seem to want to go. I knew she didn't. But what choice did we have? The bell was ringing in two minutes. I held her hand until I had to let go. I watched as she walked into math. She hated it, but she was good at it. I went to my class, science. I stared at my teacher, unable to focus on him. I wanted Adriana. Her. Just her.

I stared at the blackboard, wondering if us being together was fate.

I wanted to kiss her. All I wanted was her. Could I trust her with my secrets? I didn’t like it when I was separated from her. I hated myself for what I was going to do later. “Scott,” Regina said, moving towards me. “What do you want?” I noticed she was wearing a red lacy camisole. She hadn’t been wearing that today. Hmm.

“I want you,” she said, tickling my beard. “I want Adriana.” I told her. She glared at me. “You’ve forgotten what I’ve done for you. You will regret this. I will rip her heart apart.” My stomach tightened. What was she planning? What could I do to prevent it? I had to know. My first thought was Chasity, who’s as dumb as a goldfish.

I caught her after class. “What’s Regina planning?” I asked her. “She’s planning to tear Adriana apart and get you by seducing you and telling Adriana you left her for her.” Chasity said. I bit my bottom lip.

I found Adriana as she was turning the corner. “Baby, I have to tell you something. Regina is planning to break us apart. I do know how, but I won’t tell you. It will break your heart.” Her lips parted. Those full, pink, sexy lips. That long dark hair, almost mahogany, but even darker. Almost black. “Babe.” I said. That’s all I could say. Babe. My baby, my love.

She looked down at her shoes, then back at me. I smiled at my girl. “Don’t worry. She’s narcisstic.” I said. She grinned at that one. I felt that my radiance would break through. I quickly controlled it and got it back into my body. That grin. That beautiful smile.

She stopped smiling. “Your eyes are turning red,” she said. Oops. I got my eye color under control and fiddled with an earring. My mother had told me to be careful with my love life. So far, I’d screwed up a bunch. She knew, and she told me to be extra careful in the future. “Girls feel like they are getting their eyebrows tweezed when they think a guy they love has a crush on her friend.” That’s what she’d said.

I leaned forward a bit, hoping to grasp her hand. She pulled her hand up to check her cell phone. I would get that hand next time.

"Omigod!" she cried, putting her hand up to her mouth. "What is it, love?" I asked. "Check this out." she replied, showing me her phone. It was a picture of a mirror. On it was a message written in red marker.

You are not only well done, you are super done, whore. Nothing can beat what I'm going to do to you.

She grabbed me and buried her face in my chest, scared. So scared she was shaking. She grasped my stomach. I held her, inhaling her sweet, spicy scent.

"I'm wondering, who is your father?" Adriana said.

"His name is Hamon." I answered.

"I've never heard of him."

"He is classified as a 'great, honored, beautiful prince in heaven.'"

"Do you ever see him?" she asked.

Power of Angels

"I rarely see him." Scott answered, moving my hair out of my face. "I only see him when he comes to Earth, which is not often. I am always anxious to see him again. I do not get along with my mother very well. She does not fully accept the fact that I am different. I suppose that's why I've fallen for you, Adriana. You have been my only supporter." he said.

"Does Regina know?" I asked. He closed his eyes. His lip trembled a little.

"I suspect she does." he answered.

"Shit. We're in trouble then." I told him.

"I know. I wish I could call out to my father and ask his advice, but I do not think he will answer. He only answers questions if he's here. He even answers questions I have asked him months earlier!"

"Wow." was all I could say. He nodded. He suddenly looked up, closing his eyes. "I can feel him speaking to me. He is not happy. He wants to speak with me alone tonight. I will go, Father."

He started tearing up a little bit. "I know, I know...I'm what? You can't be serious. Fine, I suppose I'll go to hell then!"

"What happened?" I asked.

"He told me he didn't want to see me anymore, that he was unhappy with me. I didn't mean to..." he closed his eyes. "I didn't want to upset him, or anyone. I screwed my whole life up." I didn't completely understand, and I told him so. He just smiled at me and told me everything was all right.

I looked into her eyes and studied them. Why did I ruin her reputation? Why am I a selfish bastard? I thought. I wanted to do self-harm to myself, but I couldn't. Not in front of Adriana. I pulled her close to me, just so I didn't have to think about it. All I had to do was think about Adriana, feel her hair, inhale her scent. She buried her head in my chest. I assured her everything was fine, that she could stay with me as long as she wanted to. I knew my mother would understand if I told her Adriana was simply in need of a place to stay because she was...say...a werewolf.

She wasn't, but Mom didn't need to know that. I took her home with me. Mom pulled the door open, cigarette in her hand.

"Who's your friend?" she asked in her New York accent.

"This is Adriana. She needs a place to stay until she can get herself together. Can she stay here?"

"I don't see why not, long as she sleeps in a guest room. No offense to you, sweetheart, but my son's done some things that don't quite go with my organization. Not that I blame him, either. Anyway, room's upstairs. He'll show ya where."

I pulled Adriana inside. Several people passed us. A guy couldn't take his eyes off of my girlfriend. "What kind of organization does your mother run?" she asked. "She runs a homeless and needy shelter, which has become our house. There's a pool in the backyard, and plenty of food, so help yourself. Here's a bedroom. It's right next to mine, so if you need anything, knock on my door. If I can do anything, tell me. I'm-" She cut me off with a kiss.

"I...Adriana...I...I'm not...I'm shocked. I can't say if I..." She looked hurt. She really thought I was going to reject her. I kissed her back.
