The Lake of Dreams

Aisha opened her eyes, and for a moment, all she saw was impenetrable darkness. She took a while to remember how she had landed up where she was now, and her mind drew a complete blank. All she remembered was snatches of the evening before. A terrible day at school…a party...music…and hearing a sound and walking into the woods.. She looked around her, and found herself lying on autumn leaves, which cackled as she moved. Slowly, her situation dawned on her, and terror spread through her mind, sending chills down her spine. She was lying on a forest floor, with no idea how she got there, and no clue as to how she would ever get back home.

Her head ached, and as she slowly sat, she massaged her throbbing temples. Her eyes had adjusted themselves to the darkness by then, and gradually, her vision cleared, and she saw the entire forest, with tall trees, which were so close to one another, that it looked like they were whispering secrets they didn't want anyone else to hear. Then, suddenly, the previous evening came rushing back to her. She remembered
