1.
Lunch for my two best friends and I was always a looked forward to part of the day. What normal teenager didn’t look forward to lunch? I was sitting across from Celeste and Zoe while we picked at our lunches.
“This salad is so gross.” Celeste complained. “This diet is so annoying!”
“Celeste you don’t need to go on a diet.” Zoe and I said at the same time.
It always annoyed me when Celeste got in her diet moods. The girl was drop dead gorgeous, she had a body I would kill for in a heartbeat. But she was always complaining about her weight. It drove me nuts.
“We’re not arguing about this again.” Celeste pouted.
“You were the one that brought it up!” Zoe pointed out and I couldn’t help but laugh.
“Whatever. Let’s play our game!”
‘Our game’ wasn’t really anything special. We had made it up our freshman year when we were about to die of boredom in our Spanish class and hadn’t stopped playing sense. How it worked was one of us would ask a question and then all three of had to answer it, no matter what. And then the next person would ask a question. We could play for hours and we have.
“Fine, you go first then.” I told Celeste.
Celeste took another bite of her salad as she thought of a good question. Sometimes the questions were simple and general. But other times they got personal. “Ok!” Celeste said with a smile. “I have one. How many different people have you had sex with?”
All three of us started laughing. “Way to go for a personal question first!” Zoe laughed.
“Hey, it’s all I could think of!” We all started laughing again. “So what are the numbers?”
“I’ll answer first…” Zoe said. “…6….”
“Should we times that by three to get your real number?” I asked with a raised eyebrow. Zoe cut her eyes at me. “No! That’s my real number!”
“Mines 9.” Celeste said.
“I got 3.”
“Only 3?”
“What’s wrong with that?” I asked Zoe.
“Nothing, just surprised is all…”
I rolled my eyes. Zoe and Celeste were both gorgeous. Celeste really worked for it but Zoe was naturally pretty. They got whatever guy they wanted. I was usually just looked at as just the cute best friend.
“Zoe, you ask the next question.” Celeste commanded.
“Oh and I have the most perfect one too!” Zoe gave us a wide bright smile. “Who is your secret crush? Mine is Ryan on the football team.”
“Zoe, you said secret, even Ryan knows you like him.” I told her. Zoe flipped her short blonde hair over her shoulder. “Fine. Let me think of another question.”
We waited for about five minutes. I was starting to get impatient when she finally spoke up again. “Who is a guy that you think is totally hot but you would never go for him?”
“Mike in the drama club. He’s completely hot but all he ever talks about is plays.” Celeste pouted again. “Such a waste.”
“I’ll have to say, I think it would be Kayden. That really shy kid. But I would so go for him.” I told them. I really did have a crush on Kayden, the only problem was he so painfully shy.
“Really? You think he’s hot?”
“You don’t?” I asked Zoe.
“Well, maybe if I ever heard his voice…”
”Yea. I think Kayden would be a great boyfriend to have. He’s sexy, seems smart and all but he just doesn’t talk!” I laughed out.
“You think Kayden is hot?” I heard a voice behind me ask. Celeste and Zoe popped their heads up and their eyes widened. Shit, I thought. I slowly turned around and looked up. To my horror Kayden’s best friend, Roman, was standing there looking down at me with a smirk on his face.
“N-no…” I stuttered.
“I just heard your guy’s conversation…” Roman said in a duh voice.
“Uhh-hh well….” I was trying to think of something to say as a cover but before words came to my head the bell rang, signally us to go to class. “Bye!” I said and rushed off not even bothering to wait for Celeste and Zoe.
2.
“Kayden, man, I have some news for you!” Roman said as he sat down next to me at my locker.
“What?”
“Someone likes you!” He teased. I knitted my eyebrows together.
“Why?”
Roman started to chuckle. “Man, I mean, she has a crush on you!”
“Ok…” What was I supposed to do with that information? I really don’t have a social life all too much. Roman is my best friend but that’s all. I don’t really do well with people.
“Ok? That’s all you have to say? Don’t you even want to know who it is?” Roman always enjoyed my weird social life. He thought it was entertaining. Roman, himself had many friends and girls flocked to him and well me too. But Roman liked the attention he got from people. I didn’t, I rather be left to observe people. I had never had a girlfriend nor did I try. It wasn’t like I didn’t like girls, because I did. It was just that I didn’t know how to act around them or around anyone in general, except Roman.
“Well, I guess.”
“You guess? Man, you’re so strange! I’d be chomping at the pits to know! Especially with who likes you, I mean I would kill!”
My interest was peaking. Roman was making me curious. “Ok…tell me.”
“You sure you wanna know? I mean, It’s not a big deal or anything.”
“Roman!” I said forcefully.
Roman cracked a smile. “I thought so. You know Celeste, right?” Of course I know who Celeste was. She was one of those girls that everyone knows. She is on the cheerleading team and does student council. “Yea, what about her?” I knew she couldn’t like me.
“You know her best friend, Hazel?” I nodded my head.
“Well, it’s her!”
“You’re lying.” There was no way Hazel could like me.
“Hate to break it you, man. But I heard her tell her friends she thought you were hot. Maybe you should ask her out?”
“No.”
“Why not? She likes you! You need to at least have one girlfriend before we graduate. It’s my goal!”
“I can’t ask her out!”
“Why not?”
I just shrugged my shoulders. How could Hazel like me? She was beautiful and had a ton of friends. Guys were always around her and her two friends. This must be a joke or something.
“I don’t even know her.”
“So you’re interested in her though?” I glared at Roman. “ Of course, every guy with eyes would be interested in her…but I don’t think I’m her type.”
“But she says she likes you so you must be her type.”
“You might have misunderstood their conversation.”
“No, I know for a fact I didn’t. Know stop being a baby.”
“I don’t think so, Roman, I’m not that type of guy.”
Roman looked annoyed with me, which happened often. “You have to stop being so damn shy! Do you understand? Kayden, you’re my best guy, but you really need to open up.” Roman got up and walked away. The very idea of going up to a girl like Hazel made my heart start to race and my palms sweat. Why would she even be interested in me? I’ve seen the guys she goes out with. They are outgoing, popular, funny, and charming. I wasn’t any of that.
When the warning bell sounded I gathered up my stuff and headed to class. My heart was beating fast; I had the next class with Hazel.
I walked in and took my usual seat in the back. Kids started strolling in making the once quiet room sound like a circus. I saw Roman come in and take the seat next to me.
“You going to talk to her?”
“No.”
He made a frustrated noise. “You need to have other people to talk to than me. Because honestly I get sick of you.”
I cracked a smile. “Shut up.”
“Ok, that was a lie, but really. I think you should talk to her.”
“Why?”
“Because it’s my goal to get you a girlfriend by the end of the school year and I only have three months to do it.”
“Why?”
“Kayden! You drive me nuts! There is a hot girl that likes you and you act like she has a disease! What is wrong with you? You’re going to live a boring life if you only just talk to me. Besides I would actually like to have a double date with my best friend for once! Now stop acting like a shy school boy!”
“But I am a shy school boy…”
“Smartass.” Roman mumbled and we both started laughing. As we laughed I saw Hazel walk in the class. She gave Roman a dirty look before taking her seat next to her friend Zoe.
“Why did she just give you a dirty look?”
Roman rolled his eyes. “Because she doesn’t want me to tell you she likes you. But she is a little late.” Roman finished with a cocky smile.
I smiled back. “I still don’t believe you.”
“Whatever man.”
3.
“Do you think that jackass told Kayden yet?” I asked Zoe nervously. Zoe looked over at Roman and Kayden, Roman looked cocky and Kayden looked even more nervous than he usually did. “Yea, Roman told him. Why don’t you just go up to him and talk to him? He is so shy he probably would just run away from you screaming anyway.”
I glared at Zoe. “I’m not going to torture the poor kid!” Zoe rolled her eyes. “Fine.”
I watched Zoe closely, she was up to something and I had a feeling I wasn’t going to like whatever she was planning in her twisted little brain. I looked over at Kayden, god he was so cute! I can’t believe I was stupid enough to open my mouth without looking around first. I just can’t stand how shy he is. How was I supposed to get to know him or anything? I mean Kayden wasn’t just shy; he was painfully shy, like to the point of awkwardness. But there was something that pulled me to him in more ways than just his handsomeness. I wasn’t sure why I was pulled to him but I was and I hated it! He was just so damn shy.
“Did you hear anything I just said?” Zoe asked a little annoyed.
“Oh, what? Sorry, I was kind of drifting off there…” I said embarrassed at being caught staring at Kayden.
“So are you going to talk to him or what?” Zoe asked. I rolled my eyes.
“Zoe, it’s not going to work, ok? He is too shy and probably doesn’t want anything to do with me. I’m not exactly known around school for having a good reputation, thanks to you and Celeste…”
Zoe laughed. They didn’t care what people thought of them. As long as guys still looked at them they would never care. I tore my eyes from Zoe to look back over at Kayden only to find Roman staring back at me with a knowing smile. Bastard. “Zoe, I will be right back.”
“Oh are you going to talk to Kayden?” Zoe squealed. I shook my head. “I think I need to have a chat with his bodyguard.”
I got up and walked as confidently as I could with all the nerves jumping around in my stomach towards Kayden and Roman. Roman smacked Kayden in the arm, making him look up. When his eyes locked on me they widened and he looked like he was going to pass out. I took a deep breath before I got close enough to talk to them. Time to pull out all that confidence I have watched Celeste use for years to get what she wanted. I just hoped I could act the part. I stopped just ahead of their desks, Roman gave me a cocky smile that I wanted to punch off his stupid face and Kayden looked like I was going to give him water torture.
“Roman, I need to have a chat with you.” I said in an icy voice. I really wanted to kick his ass.
“Are you sure it’s me you want to talk to?” Roman asked with arrogance.
“Oh, I’m very sure!” I snapped, making Roman’s smile grow and Kayden’s head jump to look at my face. I gave Roman my deadliest glare and ignored Kayden. This wasn’t going to work if I got tripped up with my feelings for Kayden.
“Oh all right, but just remember, I’m taken.” Roman joked. Too bad I didn’t find it funny.
“Well, if you want to keep the part of you that you use to make Lucy scream with in the back of your Chevy I suggest you get over here, now!” I threatened. Roman’s face fell slightly but the reaction I got from Kayden shocked me the most. He actually chuckled. I lost all my anger at his stupid friend when I heard his rough, deep laugh. It was amazing. I had never heard him laugh before. My shock mirrored Roman’s but he recovered quicker than I did.
“Come on, Juliet, let’s ‘chat’ before you rip off my favorite part of my body.” Roman looked back at Kayden “Romeo, make sure you don’t talk to anyone while I’m gone, I would hate to miss it.” That would have made me laugh but I wasn’t in the mood anymore.
I followed Roman out of the classroom and shoved him into a locker. “Why in the hell would you tell Kayden I liked him?!” I was barely able to keep from screaming at him.
“Whoa there, Hazel. I know you’re the tough one of the group but there is no reason for you to be throwing your weight around.” Roman said with a nervous chuckle. “I did it because Kayden is my friend and he has never had a girlfriend. I want him to get out there and talk to people and I know that he likes you too.” That stopped me dead. I glared at him to see if he was lying. “I’m not lying, Hazel. He has had a crush on you since he first saw you.”
“Why are you telling me this?” I asked, forgetting I wanted to beat the shit out of him.
Roman sighed. “Because, Kayden is so fucking shy! I want him to be happy but he can’t because he is too shy to go out and find happiness. So I am helping him. I know you like him and you’re not like the other girls that try to get with him. You didn’t want him to know. You were shy about it. I know that you would be good for Kayden, you could bring him out of his shell.”
“So you are doing this because you are trying to be a good friend?”
“Listen, you wouldn’t believe the things girls will tell me to try and get me to hook them up with Kayden. I mean it’s sick really. But you didn’t even intend for me to know. I’ve seen you around school; I know you are not like your two little friends. I’ve noticed you looking at Kayden when you thought no one was watching. I like you as a person, even though you are a little scary.” I smiled at that. “Wait, what do you mean I’m not like my friends? Just because they are gorgeous doesn’t mea-” Roman cut me off before I could finish.
“I didn’t mean that you weren’t pretty, don’t let Lucy know I said that, I meant that you don’t sleep around or whore yourself out to get guys to do what you want.”
My jaw went slack. Celeste and Zoe didn’t do that. I mean they used their pretty faces to get guys to do things for them but that wasn’t whoring yourself out. “Don’t talk about my friends that way!”
“See, and you are fiercely loyal, even in the face of truth.” I glared at Roman. “Please, just hear me out ok? Go on a date with Kayden, ask him out because he will never ask you. He will be a perfect gentlemen, you would have to do most of the talking but you guys would have fun. Or go on a double date with me and Lucy. Please? I know you like him and I know he likes you he just needs a push and I have pushed him as much as I can. You are just the girl to get him to fall over the edge.”
“You sound like you are pimping your best friend out.” I growled.
Roman shrugged. “I might be but I’m doing it with the best intentions… Please?”
“Fine, but I’m only doing this because he needs to get out of his shell.” I turned to go back into our classroom.
“And because you want to jump his bones.” Roman teased.
“Fuck you!” I snarled.
As Roman and I entered the room I was confronted with a scene that nearly ripped my world apart. There Zoe was, sitting on Kayden’s desk. I recognized the posture and look on her face. She was in full get-the-guy mode. My heart broke. How could Zoe do this to me? Roman made the same conclusion I did in almost the same amount of time, only he didn’t have to deal with the shock of his best friend’s betrayal. Roman was used to looking out for Kayden, especially against girls. Now he was in full on bodyguard mode.
“Zoe, why don’t you back off a little, you might choke him with that horrid perfume you are wearing.” Roman growled.
4.
God, Hazel was even prettier up close and even when she was royally pissed off. Roman must have been right about Hazel liking me, which made me want to puke. I doubted I could ever talk to a girl like Hazel, or well, anyone. I watched as Roman followed Hazel out of the room, with a little amusement. Roman was going to get his ass kicked, serves him right for trying to interfere with my life every chance he got. Roman and I were like brothers but sometimes he stuck his nose in a little too far. I wondered what they were saying. I was itching to be a fly on the wall for that conversation. I know I could never be a boyfriend to Hazel, at least in the way she was used to. I could never bring her to raging parties or group dates with her friends. Even being in the crowded halls makes me edgy. It wouldn’t be fair to Hazel, who was such an outgoing, fun-loving girl. I have observed her over the past 3 ½ years of high school, she always had a smile on her face and was always surrounded by tons of friends.
“Hey there, stud…” I heard someone say. I looked up to find Zoe, one of Hazel’s best friends, standing in front of my desk, a little too close. I nodded my acknowledgment of her and looked away from her quickly. She had her chest pushed up into my face and a smile on her lips that made me a little more than uncomfortable. I scooted back as far as I could in my desk, trying to put as much distance between me and her. My palms began to sweat.
“You know, Hazel is great and all but really, if you want to finally open yourself up to someone, you really should pick me. I could rock your world in ways Hazel never could…” I stared at Zoe to see if she joking. She had to be! Zoe was Hazel’s best friend, right?
“No thank you…” I mumbled. My heart was starting to pound in my chest.
“Come on, Kayden, what does Hazel have that I don’t?” Zoe said as she scooted on to my desk. I could feel my breathing becoming more and more ragged as my nerves jumped into over drive. What would Hazel think when she and Roman walked back into the class room to find Zoe trying to flirt with me? Or at least I think it was more like trying to get in my pants.
“Hazel is sweet. You are not.” I said as I looked Zoe dead in her brown eyes. Zoe’s face showed the shock at my words but she quickly recovered and gave me a sultry smile.
“Hazel is probably beating the shit out of Roman as we speak, that doesn’t sound sweet to me.” Zoe said in a fake breathless voice. I scoffed.
“And sleeping with guys in the broom closet does?” I asked. I was almost as shocked by what had just come out of my as Zoe. I have never been that bold but I didn’t like the way Zoe was talking about Hazel. It was beginning to make my heart beat faster but not from nerves but from anger. Before Zoe could respond to my insult Roman’s voice broke us out of our conversation.
“Zoe, why don’t you back off a little, you might choke him with that horrid perfume you are wearing.” Roman growled. Zoe’s head whipped around, I was pretty sure I saw her stiffen a little at the sight of Hazel and Roman.
“Relax Cujo, Kayden and I were just talking.” Zoe said in a bright voice. “I see Hazel didn’t kill you, you must be great with words.”
“Naw, she would never kill Kayden’s best friend. But I wouldn’t be worried about my wellbeing right now.” Roman said looking back at Hazel. As he turned I got a glimpse of Hazel for the first time since she came back into the classroom. Her face held a mixture of emotions: anger, shock, worry, and sadness. Those were just the most visible.
“What are you talking about?” Zoe asked in a fake dumb voice. “I was just putting in a good word for Hazel. Kayden seems to really have a thing for you, Haze.”
I grunted at that, which made Roman raise his eye brow. Obviously he wasn’t buying Zoe’s story and from the look on Hazel’s face, she wasn’t either. Roman really must not have been kidding. Hazel looked ready to scream at Zoe for the way she had been just sitting by me. She hadn’t even heard what she had said.
I watched Hazel take a deep breath and lock eyes on me. My heart instantly started into over drive. Oh god, I really wished I knew what Roman and she had talked about. Hazel strolled past Zoe, not even sparing her a glance. Hazel looked nervous, really nervous. But the average person would not have been able to tell, she hid it well. I have spent my entire life watching people live their lives, I got really good at reading people. Her confidence amazed me and I just sat there trapped in her gaze.
Hazel walked up to my desk and looked down at me. Her eyes were a bright violet color, a color I had never seen before. She gave me a smile that anyone would have thought held complete confidence. “You and I are going out tonight, on a date. Roman and Lucy are going with us. Ok?” My eyes had to be as wide as C.D.’s and my jaw hung there slacked. I was in complete shock. I glanced over at Roman to see him looked at Hazel with a look of surprise that probably mirrored my own. I looked back at Hazel to see a look of determination on her face.
I just nodded my answer. Hazel gave me a weak smile. “Good, see you tonight.” Hazel turned and purposely hit her shoulder into Zoe’s, she grabbed her stuff and walked out of class.
“Wow, that girl has more balls than I do…” Roman said as he rubbed the back of his neck. “Oh, and Zoe, fuck off, leave Kayden alone.” Roman gave her a fake smile and pushed past her.
“Oh, don’t worry, Roman, Kayden will realize what he is missing once he gets over his little obsession with Hazel.” Zoe walked back to her desk and took out her phone. I sighed my relief.
“Dude, that was awesome! You got a date!” I rolled my eyes at Roman.
“You told her to ask me out.” I was a little disappointed that Roman had to convince Hazel to ask me out. Of course he knew I would never ask her out, which made me a little disappointed in myself.
“Yes, I did. But Hazel didn’t ask you out. She told you to go out with her. That’s different. She is a pretty fiery girl. I think my head is going to hurt for a week…” Roman rubbed a spot on the back of his head, wincing a little as he did.
“She hit you?” I asked a little surprised.
“Oh, no, she pushed me into some lockers… kind of took me by surprise.”
I smiled at that.
5.
That stupid whore, slut, two-faced, good for nothing bitch!!! I screamed in my head as I stormed out of school. I was too mad to go through the rest of the school day. And hell, skipping classes wouldn’t be the worst thing I had done with week. Besides, if I stayed in school I would probably just end up beating Zoe’s ass and then getting kicked out of school for good. I was already on the freaking Dean’s watch list. I’m sure Mrs. Raven would understand this unscheduled leave of absence for the day.
I have always known that Zoe wasn’t really my ‘friend’ in a sense. Celeste, Zoe, and I were attached at the hip but that didn’t mean there weren’t any rifts between us. Mostly between Zoe and I. She always seemed like she had ulterior motives around me so I was careful around her but that doesn’t mean her betrayal stung any less. Just because she could be a total bitch didn’t mean I thought she would go behind my back and try and go for the guy I’ve had a crush on for years while telling me I needed to go after him. That was just insane and manipulative.
When I finally reached my crabby Pontiac I got in and slammed the door shut so hard, I thought I might have shattered my window. I gripped the stirring wheel as hard as I could and just boiled in my anger. I needed to go to the gym and beat the hell out of something. I threw my car into first gear and headed to my brother’s boxing gym. I don’t care if it was busy or not, he was going to let me punch his face in or I was bringing the annoying little sister card out for his entire gym to see. The thought of embarrassing and annoying my brother in front of his entire gym brought a smile to my face despite my boiling blood.
***
“Leo!” I called when I walked in the front door of his gym.
“Uh-oh, looks like Haze didn’t have a good day at school. Or well, half day.” Rocco said as he looked up at the clock to check the time. I sneered at him. Rocco was like the annoying second older brother I didn’t want.
“Go to hell.” I mumbled under my breath as I breezed past him to the back office. Before I could walk into Leo’s office he walked out and when he saw me he gave me a disapproving look. “What? Like you never cut class?” I asked him.
“What did you do now?” He groaned as he swiped his hand over his face. My brother was tall, well compared to me everyone was tall. He was muscled and mean looking, with tattoos running up and down both arms. His nose was crooked to the side from being broken so many times and his face was full of scars and had a healing bruise on his jaw. My brother was scary if you didn’t know him. But really he was just a pain in the ass.
“Why do you always think I did something?” I asked faking innocent.
“Because, you are my little sister, and I remember what I did in high school so I can only imagine what you do.” I rolled my eyes.
“I left before I did anything you would have done, relax. I’m not on the run or wanted or anything. I came here because I need something to beat the hell out of.”
Leo raised his eye brow at me and looked over at Rocco, who just shrugged. “Do I even want to ask?”
“Zoe went behind my back and tried going after the guy I like. Totally MTV drama crap.”
“I never liked Zoe. She was always hitting on my workers. If they weren’t so scared of me they would have went for her.” Leo said giving Rocco a pointed look.
“Hey, I waited until she was 18. She’s hot as hell, mean, but hot.” I rolled my eyes at the meat head.
“So can I beat up your idiot friend so I don’t expelled from school again?” I asked as I jumped down from the counter I had perched myself on top.
Leo blew out a breath. “Yeah, go change.” I nodded and headed off to the locker rooms. “We don’t have any classes this early in the day because everyone is at work or at SCHOOL!” Leo shouted at my back as I walked into the locker rooms. I just rolled my eyes.
***
“Hey babe.” Lucy said as she walked up to Roman’s Chevy. Roman and I were sitting on the tailgate waiting for her to get down with some club thing. “Hey, Kayden.” She greeted me after she kissed Roman. I nodded my head at her and quickly looked the other direction. Lucy just shook her head lightly and smiled.
Lucy was good for Roman. They had been together for almost a year. Lucy was soft and sweet but she wasn’t a push over. She mellowed Roman, the partier and hyper active guy that he was, down. She had the kind of personality that you instantly trusted. I was happy Roman had finally found a nice girl to be with.
“So are you ready for tonight, sweet thing?” Roman asked with a sly grin. Lucy gave him a confused look.
“What is going on tonight?”
“Oh, I got Kayden a date. We’re gonna double, you in?” Roman asked as he pulled Lucy between his knees. She rested her head on his chest and tapped me on the shoulder.
“Who do you have a date with?” That was the thing I liked and hated about Lucy. All the girls before Lucy that Roman dated had either completely ignored me because I was so shy or they would just ask Roman the question they wanted to ask me, and sometimes they would hit on me when Roman wasn’t around because they knew I wouldn’t say anything. Lucy, whoever, always tried to include me in the conversation and would talk directly to me.
“Hazel.” Lucy’s eyes widened and she quickly looked at Roman for conformation.
“For real?”
Roman nodded. “Yep. She told him they were going out tonight and he kind of had no other choice but to say yes.” Roman had the biggest smile on his face. I hoped his face would crack.
“What did you do?” Lucy excused Roman.
“Nothing! I swear!” Roman held his hands up. “I’m the one that got hit in the head for it.” Roman rubbed the back of his head again. I rolled my eyes and hoped it hurt for a while. Lucy was glaring at Roman, obviously not believing his story but not going to pry any farther.
“So when is this date?” Lucy asked as she pulled out her phone when it beeped. I gave Roman a panicked look. Oh my god… Hazel hadn’t said a time or a place and I was in too much of a shock to even have thought of it until now. Lucy looked up when no one answered her question to see the matching looks of stupid on Roman and Kayden’s faces. She rolled her eyes.
“No one set a time or place?” She asked with a little bit of disbelief in her tone.
“There were some other things going on that I will explain to you later, babe. Because I’m sure Zoe is already on the rumor mill spreading how many woman I’m cheating on you with.” Lucy nodded her head in understanding. Zoe was a girl that just needed to be put in her place.
“Come on dweedle dee and dweedle dumb, Hazel usually hangs out at her brother’s gym after school. I’m sure we can find her there or someone there can track her down for us.” Lucy climbed into the front seat as Roman and I jumped off the tailgate.
“Hazel hangs out at a gym?” I asked a little shocked.
“Yeah, her brother is an MMA fighter. Or something like that. How did you think she got so good at beating people up that were five times bigger than her?” Roman gave me a duh look.
I breathed out a long breath. MMA fighter for a brother and a girl that could kick my ass at any moment…yeah, that doesn’t make me any more nervous than I already am…
