Dog Bones & Biscuits
OK….so let’s get it out of the way now. It’s a book about dog treats….you didn’t really expect to get away without some standard bones and biscuits did you? With all sarcasm aside…..dogs love bones & biscuits. Ask any dog…..well, maybe that’s not the best approach. But we bet that if you offer your dog one of these tempting tidbits, you’ll see….just make sure to count your fingers afterwards.
Turkey Biscuits
Ingredients
1C oat flour
1C brown rice flour
2tsp baking powder
1/4C olive oil
2 sweet Italian turkey sausages, ground
1/3C chicken broth
Directions
Preheat oven to 450 degrees.
Place sausages in a pot of water and bring to a boil, cooking for 20 minutes.
Remove the sausages from heat and run under cold water until cool enough to handle.
Remove the casings and finely grind sausages in a food processor.
Combine the cooked ground sausage with all remaining ingredients and mix until the dough forms.
Roll the dough on a lightly floured surface to about ¼” thickness and cut into shapes using a cookie cutter.
Place on baking sheet and bake 22-27 minutes or until the edges are golden brown (can be close together as they do not expand much during baking).
Remove from and oven and cool completely on a wire rack in the refrigerator.
Since there are no preservatives, keep in an airtight container for no more than 2 weeks.
