However the blind man is next to be eliminated, but before the thoughts of killing him crossed the prince’s mind; the blind man has already adapted an unbelievable and strange strategy to avoid being killed while he continues to dish out his wisdom to the people to save them from self-destruction and the land from ignorance and arrogance.
Nevertheless, will the blind man’s adapted technique rescue him for good or will he be apprehended and killed? Find out.
After a decade of living peacefully and pleasantly in a village that was once stirred by jealousy and insecurities.
A new generation arouses that didn't know the history and the unfavorable past experiences of the land.
They were young men and women driven by their instinct and the desire to flourish irrespective of the cost and even at someone else's downfall.
Again peace was dethroned by their misconception and misconduct that even jealousy, quarrels and fights seize the opportunity to rule the land with an iron fist.
At this point, the man who was once the pillar of harmony and fraternity, a man who fought against discredit with honor, a man who fought against adversity with humility and a man who was referred to by the villagers as "The blind man with greater insight was getting old to the extent that he was becoming sightless again.
Meanwhile wrongful conduct continued to terrorize the land since the young men and women grew up with the mentality that drunkenness is wisdom and soberness is foolishness.
Attending church and serving God was an insult to their ideology of serving youthful desires.
Alcohol addiction blinded them into perceiving that darkness is light and light is darkness.
Amongst them; real men were characterized by the number of women they had in possession, meanwhile real women were characterized by the number of young men they seduced into their domain.
However, what every one of them could show as a result of alcohol and sexual immorality at the end of the day was wounds, brokenness, unfaithfulness, animosity, accidences, losses, diseases and death.
It is absolutely true that at some point, drunkenness can turn a wise man into a complete fool.
In his old age; the blind man could always wake up to take his walking stick making his way to sit under the Kigelia africana tree, commonly known as a sausage tree.
He could sit under that tree all day long, and after a little while his wife would also join him there.
Time went by and the blind man's wife was getting worried due to his husband recent behavior, for he started talking alone to the extent that he was perceived by many people to be running mad.
Though his wife could always pardon such thoughts with the idea that it is all because of old age, in the meantime she couldn't escape the fact that her husband is a son to a late mad woman.
It came to pass that one day their daughter visited them from her matrimonial home.
They were sitting under the sausage tree as usual when she arrived.
Few minutes later after exchanging greetings with her, the blind man begun his usually associated with madness habit.
He stood up from the bench, and moving around with the appearance of unsettlement he started saying; “the heart is too fragile to harbor deep hurts" he did that repeatedly about five times before his wife could settle him down.
Apparently their daughter came at least to share with them her painful and tiring experience with people of disadvantaged background.
Nevertheless after seeing that her father was losing it, she decided to turn her full attention to her mother.
She said; "mother, the day before yesterday I quarreled with a certain barren and poor woman in the market.
It is without doubt that she was coming from cultivating people's farms since it is her source of living, but what baffled me is the audacity she had to ask me for water to drink.
How is it that I, the crowned princess of this land will share a bottle of water with a worthless commoner?
Then on the same day on my way home, I came across a man in torn and dirty clothing.
All of a sudden, he started shouting my name but I ignored him; however that didn't stop him from rushing me until he grabbed my garment begging for a parcel of food.
Mother, he was so annoying, thank God I managed to kick him away from me."
After narrating the story of her experiences, her mother was saddened by the beggar’s disrespectful acts towards her daughter the princess.
Nevertheless the blind man was listening to their conversation, and he was deeply disappointed by his wife's comments on the matter.
Without their careful observation, he gave them laughter of mockery saying; “People who live in glass houses shouldn't play with stones, and those who built their houses on sand shouldn't provoke the wind"
And after saying those words, he stood up and took his walking stick to navigate his way to the house.
In the meantime; there was a moment of silence between the mother and daughter trying to figure out the meaning of what the blind man just said.
After realizing that they were thousands miles away from finding the meaning, they followed him into the house.
He was already lying on the bed with his eyes closed when they came in, they were still shocked at what he said outside and none of them could utter a word for some minutes.
However the blind man felt their presence in the house, he then opened his mouth and said; "you were once poor and cultivated people's farms to earn a living, now what makes you think such occupation is worth disgracing someone at your prosperous living?.
You once wore the shoes of neediness, now what makes you think people's needs are annoyance at your sufficiency?
You were once disgraced and your reputation tarnished by poverty, now what makes you think poor people should be shamed at your honor?
What makes you think others should suffer because you're rich?
The fact that you're a princess doesn't mean that people should commit suicide wherever you pass.
Take note of this; It is much better to be a commoner with honor than to receive a title with dishonor.
It would've been better for you to remain poor and be humble, than to be prosperous and be arrogant.
It is a foolish giraffe that laughs at the long neck of another giraffe.
So a woman who have not delivered any child, shouldn't laugh at the fruitlessness of a barren woman, and if the shoes of prosperity doesn't fit you very well, then someone else must inherit it on your behalf."
He then concluded by saying; “The man who stays in the city thinks that all the people who stays in the village are poor, not knowing that a poor person is the one who thinks like him.
And if the right hand can stop criticizing the left hand based on what it can and cannot do, the world would be better, for after all they are parts of the same body."
He then turned his back on them after uttering such painful truth, and they too couldn't hold their tears after listening to him.
Hearing that they were crying, the blind man said with a low distinct voice; "like I said, the heart is too fragile to harbor deep hurts, especially the truth".
It was already getting late for his daughter to be with them a little longer, so she had to return to her matrimonial home before dark.
Three days later, his daughter came back to check on her parents as her usual routine, and at this point she came with her husband, the crowned prince himself.
Her mother jubilated at their arrival, not to talk of the blind man; he was over excited to receive the news of his son in law visitation.
His daughter and his wife went inside the house while he remained outside with the prince.
Amidst their greetings, the prince decided to enquire about the recent news of him becoming mad, however the blind man couldn't give him a straight answer, rather he said; " my son, at times madness can be a true friend of old age", he then kept quiet neither did the prince understood what he meant by that.
The prince decided to let it go without any follow up questions.
The blind man however inquired of him about his intentions of ruling the kingdom after he will take over from his father.
The prince was already caught on the trap of living a vibrant life, living life to his own satisfaction, and his answers to the blind man’s question were grounded on such desires.
The blind man was listening attentively to each word of his mouth, meanwhile the prince continued to say; "I can't wait any longer to take over my father's throne and impose my will."
After listening to the Prince's ambition to take over and rule the kingdom, the blind man requested that they take him along to visit the king.
The prince and his wife took the blind man to the king as he requested, they took him to the King's chambers where he was lying helpless.
Apparently the king was deserted in a small apartment previously used by the guards who once connived with the elders to kill the blind man.
In getting there, the blind man could read the writing on the wall that the king was left desolate to die so that his son the prince can take over the throne.
The blind man then started talking alone saying; "When the desire for satisfaction advances more than the ability to remain patient, greed takes dominion."
The king perceived his voice and was so pleased to be granted the favor of his friend's presence.
He stretched out his hand out of excitement to touch him saying; "my heart is now at peace, but bleeding that the kingdom has fallen in the hands of doom and gloom.
The king continued to say; “it is now clear to me that;
The eyes are only light for the feet to travel,
But insight is the ability to apply knowledge and understanding.
Insight is discretion, the quality of being prudent and sensible.
It is the eyes of my brain that supersede my optical clearness,
The mental ability to understand and discriminate between rations.
It is the sight of mental intellect when what pleases the eyes is to see the sun.
The eyes of my brain in the absence of visual discernment,
And the fact beyond visual opinion.
When I'm poor before the sight of people's careful observation,
With insight I'm rich in every sense of mental perceptions.
Always armed with the best weapons of reasoning and the ammunition of decisiveness in my higher cognitive process to rebel against ignorance.
To walk my path with enlightenment when wisdom is the mentor that ushers me to greatness.
To be virtuous with integrity, and not like a fool who's caught by his own words and trapped by his own promises,
To look at the brighter side with confidence, and not to hang my head in shame when the eyes mislead me towards destruction.
For with insight I walk by faith and not by sight
And to the men of insight, it is all plain and clear,
They receive glory from honor when sophistication rescues them from the Shames of immaturity.
Through insight one eats the food of mental synthesis,
And drink the wine of edification.
Insight has riches and honor
