Chapter 1
Unknown World
Looking around all I can figure out is that I’m in a small room. The room has no windows and one light in the center of the ceiling. I woke up on the floor next to the bed a few minutes ago but still don’t know where I am. The bed looks well used as if it was used for a long time so I’m guessing I’ve been here for a while. The only things that I can remember are two strange phrases and that I’m 16 years old.
Welcome to a new world, is the first phrase I remember. For some reason it feels right, everything fits together and feels new to me so I guess a new world is correct in its own way.
“It’s amazing mom, because everything’s completely over my intelligence. Neglect… gaining advantage… vanish… again monster. Please ignore relevance… elaborate…” I said it thinking it might make more sense but this second phrase that I remember makes no sense at all. I feel that words are missing but even after thinking of different ways to put the words together it makes no sense. The thing that draws me in to this phrase is the last sentence, please ignore relevance… elaborate…, it feels like it’s a hint towards something but I don’t know what it is yet.
The door opened and I saw a woman holding a paper cup with water and a tray that had a pill on it. “Ok Clare it’s time for your medicine.” The woman smiled and handed me the paper cup and put the pill in my hand and told me to swallow it and drink. I did what I was told.
“Who are you?” the woman turned and looked at me with a surprised look. “My name is Clare right? Where am I and why am I here?” the woman just stared blankly for a moment and then walked out of the room closing the door behind her after saying that she would be back in a little while.
Chapter 2
Mental
Hours had past sense the woman had left. I wonder how much longer I’ll have to wait. I sat on the bed wondering what was going on.
“I’m coming in” a muffled voice from behind the door said. When the door opened a man walked in with some things to write with. He was tall, wearing a white coat and some glasses. “How are you feeling Clare” the man prepared to write something.
“Fine” I answered immediately after he looked ready to write. “Where am I?”
“You don’t know?” the man looked confused. “You’ve been here for ten years Clare. How could you not know?”
“I didn’t know my name until that woman came in to give me something she told me to swallow.” The man looked at me with astonishment.
“Clare you’re in a mental hospital because of hysteria. You’ve been here for ten years because you would repeat the same thing over and over again and never talk to others, until today.” The man stared at the paper in front of and sighed. “Looks like you’ve lost your memories. Nothing I can do except some tests to see the extent of the damage.” We got up and walked through the halls of the building for a little while until we reached a room with a computer some cushioned chairs and a desk with pencils and paper on it.
“Why did we come here?” I looked around and saw that the woman from before was sitting in the corner of the room reading a book. She looked up and noticed that we were there.
“Oh, John there you are. What took you so long, you made me wait here so I decided to read a little,” she raised the book a little as if he didn’t see it.
John ignored her and looked at me. “Take a seat at the desk. I’m going to give you some math, English, science and reading problems. Not a lot just enough to figure out if you can do them correctly.” John looked at the woman in the corner of the room. “Ellen could you watch her for me I need to make a call.”
“Yeah I’ll do that,” Ellen looked up at me and smiled. I glared at her when she did. After an hour I was done with all the tests that they had for me. John didn’t return until I was completely done, and when he did he gave me a paper with stuff about me on it. Right away I noticed something familiar, but what does it mean?
