April 5, 2019 Morning

The East River takes on a translucence as the water turns from nocturnal black to opaque deep green. The Brooklyn Bridge lights go pale against the sky, and a man pulls up the metal shutter of his shoe repair shop. Isabel, who has not slept, stands at her bedroom window, wearing an XXL T-shirt. The first signs of spring have arrived, with the tree in front of Isabel's building producing hard little buds that will soon burst into five-pronged leaves. On a windowsill across the street, a bouquet of daffodils stands in a water glass, suggesting that the winter light has quickened.


Isabel turns to check on Dan, who is still deeply asleep. She begrudges Dan's talent for slumber but is grateful for it. During the hours Dan and the kids are asleep, Isabel might as well be alone in the apartment, immersed in her own waking dream of nightly solitude.


She sees an owl, which seems to be an outgrowth of the tree branch on which it roosts. The owl seems to be sentient and watchful, but it seems to be a waking dream of Isabel's, as she was not able to sleep last night, another day's difficulties are about to roll in, and she will soon be compelled to join the chaos.


The story revolves around a mysterious figure named Wolfe, who appears to be elusive and elusive. He is a man who appears to be getting what he wants and wanting what he's getting. His followers like his chronicle of his own dailiness and off-center beauty, as well as his sable-stubbled, off-center beauty. Wolfe is fascinated by the gorgeousness
