Preface

This book contains of six poems in two languages. That is why I called it 6 in 2. The poems are very short like most of my other poems. They are heavily influenced by Macapat, the short poems in Javanese tradition and Haiku, the three-line Japanese poems.

[1.1]fear

if fear is the heart of love
then
my greatest fear is the fear of losing your love

[1.2] kalut

jika kalut adalah hati sebuah cinta
maka
kekalutan terbesarku adalah kehilangan cintamu

[2.1] tears

tears fuel grieve
smile welcomes joy
laughter brings sanity

[2.2] air mata

air mata menyulut duka
senyuman membuncahkan bahagia
gelak tawa mengusir kegilaan jiwa

[3.1] stray bullet

i don't see any stray dog on the streets
i don't see any alley cat on the roof tops

but last night a stray bullet hit a six year-old girl in the southside
and today another one strayed along the bridge of Chicago river.

[3.2] peluru nyasar

aku tak melihat anjing liar yang nyasar di jalan
aku tak melihat kucing liar di bubungan atap

tapi tadi malam sebuah peluru nyasar menewaskan gadis cilik di daerah selatan
dan hari ini sebuah peluru lagi nyasar di jembatan sungai Chicago.
