Far from Home

"Don't give me that look," my father said as I sat at the breakfast with big soulful and pleading eyes that were hopefully wearing him down, "you're not being fair." Almost. "Stop Kaylie. Your going to school and that's final." he stated trying to be firm. Crap. When my father spoke like this it was best not to press the issue. Not for fear of getting in trouble, but because he was man. And men have egos that we ladies are burdened with and must nuture if we love that man ,or else they go and do something stupid like buy a motorcyle only to fall of seconds later. It was just my luck that he overheard me call him an old man to my friend, Tess , over the phone last week. "Fine Daddy." I say heading upstairs. "Don't forget to take your pain medicine." You say it was somewhat spitefull. I was still angry that he was making me go to the hell called high school. I vaguely heard him mumble something about not needing to take it and how he was only forty-two as I went to get dressed.
