Book 1: The War of Many Kings.
Chapter 1
War
As the Snow fell on the land of Kandor, the city lay quiet. There was no sound of rejoice in the air. The land lay still with sadness. This was not a time of rejoicing, for the land of Elesador had been at war for 100 years! In fact, this land had 10 kings during the war. 1 king for every 10 years! Because of this, the war was called “The War of Many Kings.” The war had a terrible toll on the land during this 100 years, and the worst strike had happened just a few hours ago. A couple of days before, Kandors soldiers had left the safety of their city to go and fight a battle in the land of Zeldon, which would later be known as “The land that drank blood.” little did a Knight, known as Alsadar, know he would be one of the few knights that would actually return from this battle. He would watch his comrades die, and he would even see the most powerful General in the battalion die… by his own sword.
Chapter 2
Seeing the battle through Alsadars eyes.
I was riding into the land of Zeldon, not knowing of the danger ahead. As I looked around, my fellow knights showed no fear. I tried not to show my true feelings about the upcoming battle. As the General rode by, he looked over in my direction. As he looked at me, I looked at him. He then told me “ do not worry, this will be a easy victory!” if only he and I knew of the dangers ahead of us. As we rode on, I thought back to my childhood. How I left my family when I was a mere lad to learn the ways of becoming a knight. I also thought back to the day that I became a knight. I bowed down before King Adalintar, the King of Elesador. As he lowered his sword, he exclaimed these words. “ Now, Alsadar… I dub thee Knight Alsadar. You are now part of the Knights of Kandor. Do your job with pride, and protect your city with honor!” that was 5 years ago. As we rode over the top of the hill, we looked into the valley below. There was nothing but a few trees. All of a sudden, we heard a rumble. As the knights of Kandor looked up, and saw a 1000 or more Dark knights coming over the hill. At the front of the army was Valadon, “Commander of 1000’s”. Our General turned his horse, and told us “ Alright men, we have come out here to stop the enemy. There might only be 500 of us. But, we have the ability to defend our city. So, Knights of Kandor… Ride into battle with your swords drawn, and your heads held high! With those words, the general started down the hill, into the valley. We yelled “FOR KANDOR, AND KING ADANLINTAR!” and rode after him. I looked up as we came into the valley… and saw the most horrifying sight I have ever seen. Thousands of Dark Knights riding down the hill. It seemed like they were everywhere. As the front lines clashed, the enemy invaders were not easily held back. As I rode, a flaming arrow flew right in front of me, startling my horse. Next thing I knew, I was on the ground. As I got up, I blocked a swinging sword from a Dark Knight. I thrust my sword at him, hitting him directly in the chest. I pulled my sword out of his chest, waiting for him to fall. But instead of falling, he picked his sword up and ran at me with it. I blocked his overhead swing, and parried his other attack. I kicked him in the gut as he ran toward me. He got up and I slashed my sword. The blade took off his head, but instead of the sight I thought I was going to see, his body just stood there. I stood there in shock, as the body started to move. It walked over to where the helmet was. As it picked up the helmet, a skull fell out. The dark knight put the skull back on his neck, and then picked up his sword. As he ran toward me, I leveled my sword, and thrust the sword through his skeletal head. The evil light in his eyes went out, and the body went limp. I grabbed the skull and pulled my sword out. As I looked around, I saw a dark knight stab a sword through one of my friends, which I had trained with back in Kandor. Anger rose within me, as I lifted my sword, I charged at the dark knight. He turned his head right as I knocked him over. I spun my sword, and stabbed his chest with my sword. As the dark knight died, I ran over to my friend. He looked up at me and said “Look out Alsadar!” pulled me down and covered my body with his. An arrow hit him in his back. I lifted my dead friend off of me and said a prayer. I looked around and saw the general fighting Valadon. All of a sudden, Valadon knocked the sword out of the generals hand. I charged at Valadon, only to be smacked in the head by the blade of his sword. Good thing I was wearing a knights helmet. Most of the knights had left their helmets because they were to heavy. But I had decided to bring mine for protection, And so I didn’t have to hide my true feeling about this battle. As I looked up, I saw Valadon pick up the generals sword. He held his sword in one hand, and the generals in the other. He stabbed the general in the shoulder with his sword. He then turned the sword so that the blade pointed down. He lifted it, and stabbed it into the generals chest. “GENERAL!” I screamed. Valadon looked at me, and pulled his sword out of the generals shoulder, and walked my way. All of a sudden, a flaming arrow hit my helmet. From the outside, it looked like it had pierced my head, but on the inside was a different story. The arrow tip had stopped just above my head. But when the arrow hit my helmet, I dropped my head like I was dead. All I could hear was the clanging of swords, and the screams of battle. I blacked out for a while, I don’t know exactly how long I blacked out. When I awoke, there was no sounds of battle. There was fog in the air. I stood up and I pulled the arrow out of my helmet. As I looked upon the land that was known as Zeldon, I could not think of the land as the beautiful land of Zeldon. No, this land was covered in the blood of our men… in the blood of innocent people… in the blood of our general. A great evil had happened here. As I walked over to the generals body, I saw a few shadowy figures in the mist. I stood up and drew my sword, ready to fight. The shadows became figures. 4 Knights walked toward me. I sheathed my sword. “hello! My name is Matt Sheathwood. But people call me “Timber”. These are Bloodsword, venom thorn, and knave.” I looked at them. I wondered how they had become knights. I also wondered how they had survived the battle that had just happened. “my name is Alsadar.” “nice to meet…” “ we don’t have time to talk.” we have to get to back to Kandor.” said Alsadar, interrupting timber. As Alsadar started to walk back in the direction that Kandor was in, the other 4 knights that had lived followed him. As they walked, Alsadar thought about what he was going to tell the king. How he was going to tell the king that the army was gone, the general was gone… and that all that was left of Zeldon was the one tree that hadn’t been torched, or hacked at by swords. He stopped in his tracks. “What’s wrong Alsadar?” asked knave. Alsadar didn’t answer. He just turned around and went to the generals body. He knelt down and picked up something. As he turned, he showed that he had picked up the generals sword and helmet. They walked for sometime…climbing the hill that would take them out of the valley “that drank blood.” As they passed a small farm, they took some horses for the ride. The long ride back to the city of Kandor… and safety.
