Chapter One
"Ugh! You worthless piece of crud!" I flung my comunipad across the room where it crashed into the wall and fell to the floor. I angrily brushed my long, brown hair away from my face and fell backwards onto my hoverbed. The sound of soft footsteps echoed in the room.
"Get over your self, Talon," I sat up and glared at my very gothic friend, Onyx. She smirked and sashayed into the room, her long black skirt trailing along the floor. She sat down, her milky-white legs showing through a slit in her skirt, and laid a perfectly manicured hand on my shoulder.
"Tal, Tal, Tal," she chastised. "Get over yourself." She patted my shoulder and stood up again, smoothing her corseted shirt(Onyx was still stuck in the old ages). She walked to the door and paused, as if just remembering something.
"Oh, and Steel's back." she said, then was gone. My heart started pounding and I jumped up at the thought. Steel!
Steel was my boyfriend, my soulmate practically. We had been going out for many Spaces, and if he was hurt, I didn't think I could bare it.
Just two Spaces ago he had been in actual space, fixing a communication satellite for the team we currently had on some planet light years away. It should have taken him weeks! Then a thought occurred to me. What if something’s wrong? What if he’s injured?! Oh man, he’s injured! I know he’s injured!
I couldn’t control the crazy thoughts racing through my head and soon I had thrown on pants and a shirt, practically falling out of my room before remembering my hover board. Taking no time to grab it, I activated my control watch and threw myself from the room suspended high above the city.
The wind tore past me and I would have enjoyed had it not been for my suspicions about Steel. My hover board finally caught up to me and I maneuvered herself until I was above it, then activated the magnets. The board attached to me with a satisfying clunk, and free fall stopped immediately.
As the anti-gravity took hold, I concentrated on not running into anything as I zoomed straight into heavy traffic, my ebony-colored board gleaming as it dipped and swerved. I accelerated the devise and the wind tore past me as if I were free-falling again.
“Come one Steel, come on. Be alright!” I kept muttering useless comforts to myself, trying to calm down. It didn’t work.
Chapter Two
“Steel!” I shouted as I flew into the City Hall, still on my hover board but not caring. He looked up in surprise from the long, angular table and the papers piled on it. He grinned when he saw it was me, though, and held open his arms. I took that as an invitation and threw myself off the hover board and into his arms.
"Hey baby." he murmured into my hair. I just squeezed him tighter and wrapped my legs around his waist, refusing to let go.
