Chapter 1

Grant Laurens had always been the odd one out seeing as his three best friends were cousins. As he looked over at them they sat around in a loose circle around a campfire.

Liam and Megara, his wife sat closest to the fire enjoying a couple of hours free of parenting their daughter Mackenzie or Mac. Liam sat with his arm around Megara's belly as she was expecting their second girl in six months. 

Skye and Dawn were enjoying each other like the newly mated and married couple they are. While Gabriel sat right next to his cousin Nicola who was Liam's baby sister. The one thing he could never have or even think about having. 

Seriously, who was he kidding he wanted her like he wanted no other. That's why he had worked through the female population of his college and still not one of them was his mate. He hadn't done anything more than kiss them and like always nothing had ever happened. 

She was breathtakingly beautiful. Her large eyes and dark hair. He looked away from her as he felt his eyes shift slightly before he controlled it. His wolf wasn't going to be patient much longer. 

Nicola Boudreaux couldn't help but stare at Grant. Of course she wasn't being obvious about it because Liam would completely flip out, but did she care? Not at all. She wanted Grant to at least notice her but of course who would notice a lowly teenager who was still in high school. Yes she was going to be a senior when classes started back up but still. Who would want her when they could have a college girl or even a businesswoman. 

Sighing she stood and walked away from the fire and into her own tent as everyone else decided to go to sleep. Ten minutes later she peeked out to make sure no one was around before she snuck  out and ran towards the river. It took her another ten minutes for her to realize she wasn't alone.

Grant had seen her sneak off but he didn't know she had been headed towards the river until she sat at its bank and rested her forehead against her knees. 

"Why are you sneaking around?" He asked her as he took a seat next to her. 

"I'm not sneaking around." She said with a frown, "You're the one who's sneaking here, not me." She said and tasted the lie in her mouth. 

Grant shrugged, "Whatever." He knew she was lying, "So I got a job at your school." He said trying to make some type of conversation with her. 

"That's nice." She replied looking over at him with a bit of a wounded look in her eyes. So now he was going for her own peers.

He didn't know what possessed him but one second he was five feet away from her and the next he was cupping her cheek in the palm of his hand. He could feel her breath against his lips and as he stared into her large eyes he leaned forward and pressed his lips to hers. 

Nicola jerked back at the static electricity that shocked her lips. She rubbed a fingertip across her lips before she noticed Grant looking down at his fingertips with a smile on his lips. Hesitantly she looked down at her own fingertips and saw the swirling spirals of silver marking her as being mated. 

Chapter 2

That was two nights ago. Grant had taken to sneaking into Nicola's room late at night but only so he could actually get some sleep. With a sigh Nicola twisted onto her back and waited until her alarm went off before getting up and grabbing clothes from her closet and started getting dressed for her first day of senior year.

Grant smiled over at her when she walked down the stairs. Megara was sitting at the kitchen table with Mac watching Liam cook breakfast, "Grant is there something you and Nicola want us to know?" Megara asked nonchalantly looking between them with a grin on her face.

Nicola blushed before she walked over to Megara and showed her the mating mark on her fingertips that matched Grants fingertips. Liam stared from Nicola to Grant and back again before shrugging, "Megara and I mated when we were only twelve."

Nicola grinned and ran over to her brother pulling him into a bear hug well more like a wolf hug before running over to Grant and throwing her arms around his neck and planting a kiss on his lips, "And here we thought you would be a duck about it." Nicola said looking over at Liam with a happy smile.

"Yeah well..." Liam trailed off as he looked over as Dawn and Skye walked in.

"Grant is officially part of this family." Nicola said before leading him out of the house and to his car, "In school how are we going to do this?" She whispered to him as they got in.

"I'll talk with the principal." He said with a shrug.

"What do you mean I can't teach her class!" Grant exclaimed to Mr. Lazar, the school principal, as he slammed his hands on top of the desk.

"Grant you're emotionally involved with a student." He replied as evenly as he possibly could when being faced by an angry wolf.

"She is my fiancée and will be my student wether you deem it appropriate or not." Grant said and stalked out of the office only to have the secretaries staring at him, "What?" he growled making them jerk back into motion and continue with their conversations before stalking off to his classroom.

When he slammed the door to his classroom closed all the students became quiet and settled in their seats except for one, Nicola. She sat in his chair behind the desk with a smile on her face before standing and walking over to her seat, "Good morning Mr. Laurens." she said as she slid into her seat.

Grant swallowed the lump that got stuck in his throat before he addressed the rest of the class, "Hello I'm Mr. Laurens. I hope that this year you'll at least learn something new." he waved slightly and more than a few people stared at the swirls of silver on his fingertips.

Nicola blushed at that and looked away before looking back at him and glancing down at her own fingertips. Alaina Roberts smiled over at Nicola. Apparently Nicola had at least one friend Grant thought as he taught the class. When the bell rang signaling the end of the period Nicola walked up to his desk with Alaina and smiled when he leaned towards her and planted a soft kiss to her lips, "I'll see you at lunch." he whispered.

She nodded before nuzzling his neck a bit, "Okay." She whispered back to him before walking out of the class.

"So he's really your fiancée?" Alaina asked as soon as they walked through the crowded halls.

"Yup." Nicola said popping the p, "This is the equivalence of an engagement." she held up her hands and showed off her mating mark.

Alaina rolled her eyes, "I know that. You explained it all to me in like kindergarten. Even though you weren't supposed to."

Nicola rolled her eyes at her best friend, "I know you're right but seriously don't tell anyone that you were right."

Alaina laughed at that making Nicola laugh too, "Don't worry I'll get my satisfaction just by knowing that you know I'm right." Alaina said with a grin before they walked into second period Science, "You should meet my cousin Gabriel." Nicola commented as they took their assigned seats.

Alaina shook her head at Nicola's attempt to try and hook her up with Gabriel, "No way," She said shaking her head, "The next thing I'll know I'm mated to a mutt."

Nicola smiled at Alaina's description of Gabriel. She hadn't even met him and she already knew how he was. That could be interesting if only she could get Alaina to come over. Cocking her head to the side she thought about it and then decided to ask Megara and Dawn for their opinion. Megara being the All Seeing Eye and Dawn being Megara's best friend and partner in crime.
