What If...
By Joseph P Hradisky Jr
I dedicate this book to my wonderful wife Terri, my two sons Alec and Ian.
This story is truly about the idea of the consequences of making a decision. Every decision creates a divergent path for which you follow. No one ever knows where the decision will lead them till they get there. So this brings to mind the idea of what might have occurred if another path were taken – it is called the ‘what if’ syndrome. A self-destructive thought pattern which could lead to going nowhere.
This is a work of fiction – all the characters are fictitious and resemble no persons living or dead

The rain poured down hard, almost like hail, it tore at the leaves in the trees.
Bushes, flowers, and grass were all but laid flat from the intensity of the hard rain. The streets of the city below, in the valley, were empty save for the occasional Taxi or Patrol car. James Joseph Walls watched the pounding storm from a lounge chair on his back porch. The wide roof, overhead, shielded him, and his wife, from the torrential downpour. He sipped coffee while Terri read the latest romance novel by an author he knew nothing about. James was over forty but his body held a constant war between fat and muscles. His outer appearance made him look fat until he had to work, then the muscle could definitely be seen. It was a deception which fooled a lot of younger men into thinking he was a push over. He also looked very much like his wife in most respects except she was the thinner, of the two, without a doubt. James looked over his shoulder toward the house to listen. Somewhere, in the house, was their three kids. Each off doing whatever had caught them up at the moment. One safe bet though was at least two were on
