Death is a Bitch

Chapter one- Two Centuries Ago

A woman in labor is inside one of the rooms in the hospital. "Come on push, Snow Flower," A nurse said as Snow flower clenches her hand. After so many hours of pushing a baby is born. The doctor pulls the baby out and holds it. "It's a baby girl," The doctor said, sounding excited.

Snow Flower smiles and all of a sudden the line on the screen goes flat and she's rushed to the ER. "Clear!" A doctor shouts, running toward Snow Flower with an electric zapper in each hand. He places them on her waist and she's breathing for now.

A few minutes later, she's in her room lying on the bed. The primary doctor enters and said, "Congratulations, Snow flower." Snow Flower smiles and says thank you. The doctor nods and says that she's a healthy baby.

Nearing death, Snow Flower said, "I don't have much time. Please-"

The doctor shakes his head and said, "No, don't say that you'll make it. What's the name going to be?"

"I'll call her Hongse Zaoshang. Tell her that I love... her..."

The line on the goes flat and now the side of her head is resting lifelessly on the pillow. Her arm dangles off the side of the bed. He walks toward Snow Flower's now lifeless body and calmly said, "I'll be sure to tell her."

Her body is being carted away and out of view. They tried to revive her but she never returned. There are two doctors talking amongst each other. "So what do we do with the baby," the doctor asked.

"Well, we lost her mother here and her father is no where to be found."

"The only thing left to do is to kill the child," The other doctor said.

"No," The primary doctor yelled. "If you're going to kill the child, I can't allow that. She can live with me and my family."

"Very well, then. Come with me," The other doctor said.

They walked off to the office. A few minutes later, the nurse walks in holding the baby. The primary doctor takes the baby from the nurse. "You truly have a good heart," The nurse said.

He smiles and exits the hospital holding Hongse Zaoshang.

Three Years Later...

A little girl is playing with a doll and Sheng enters the room. "Play time's over Hongse Zaoshang."

"Yes, father," Hongse Zaoshang calmly said. "Time for num-nums."

"Yeah," Sheng said. "It's time for num-nums."

"Yay," She yells out, dropping the doll and running down the steps.

Sheng smiles and picks the doll up, placing it in the chest of toys. It was the only thing left of Snow Flower's. He'd have to tell Hongse Zaoshang the story of her mother eventually. He just wasn't sure how to tell her. He wasn't really the best with words. Before he went downstairs, he wrote a letter explaining everything. From her mom's last words to why she lived here and not with her biological father. He placed the paper inside an envelope and tucked the envelope in between the second to last page in Hongse Zaoshang's favorite story book, then he went downstairs. Everyone at the table ate in silence. Sheng left the table after he finished eating and grabbed the car keys off the table. He felt something tug at his pant leg. "Daddy, where are you going?"

"To run a few errands, sweetie. I'll be right back. Stay put."

A few minutes later he is in the car driving off.

On that Fateful Day, Local man Dies in a Car Accident

The mother reads the news paper and breaks into a frenzy of sobs. "No, no! This can't be happening," She cried out.

Hongse Zaoshang ran to her and asked,"Mommy why are you crying"

"Daddy's gone."

She tilted her head and said, "Yes, Daddy went to make oranges outside."

The mother buries her face in the palms of her hands, Hongse Zaoshang hugged her leg. A few minutes later, she stopped crying and grabbed Hongze Zaoshang's hand, walking out of the door. They enter an adoption agency, as they walked inside the place they stopped and she clings on to her mother's leg. "Mommy, I don't like it here," Hongse Zaoshang said.

That was too bad, for her fate was sealed here, after the person she called "mom" signed all of the papers. It's kind of cruel how adoption works, you're giving your child up like it is some kind of pet. After she signed the papers, Hongse Zaoshang got taken away.

Fourteen Years later, Transferred just Above Hong Kong

"So now you know the story of your mother, Hongse Zaoshang," Her counselor said.

"I'm indebted to Mr. Sheng for all he's done for me," Zaoshang said wiping a tear away. "It's too bad he's gone. I can't believe I didn't understand what was going on. I remember that entire day like it just happened yesterday."

"Well, you were only three, Hongse Zaoshang. You've got to realize that at that age, you only know what you've heard and what you've learned. You were like a sponge, soaking in everything you heard."

She nods, "I wish I knew what my real mom was like. I... I don't even know what she looks like."

Her adoption counselor reaches into one of her drawers and pulls a painting out, sliding it toward Hongze Zaoshang. "That's your real mother."

She takes the painting, looking at it, taking everything in. "What about my real father? What's he like," She asked.

"I don't know. Nobody really knew him, even though he was well-known in Shanghai. But he fled to America before you were born and hasn't returned since."

"This was brought here a few days after you were first here," Her counselor explains, sliding a doll her way.

She takes the doll and holds it close to her. "I remember this doll."

"It once belonged to your mother. Sheng thought your mother would have preferred you had it."

"Why didn't they just send me here if I was going to be unwanted by someone?"

"Be thankful that Mr. Sheng took you into his home. If it weren't for him, you'd be dead, too. In this case it's not a matter of being wanted or unwanted. It's a matter of being loved and cared for and you had all of that."

"Then why am I here?"

"Because the woman who brought you here already had eight children. Without Mr. Sheng, she couldn't care for you."

Hongse Zaoshang crossed her arms. Why was she fated to being an orphan-Well half an orphan?

Four Years Later

Hongse Zaoshang walked out of the agency, smiling. "Free at last," She thought to herself.

Like she said way back when, she didn't like that place. She could still remember that departure--Her face streaked with tears and crying alone in a corner. It took her a few minutes to readjust to her surroundings. Now that she was out that place, she was free to explore the rest of Taiwan. She walked off until she found herself standing at a landlord's office. She enters. "So, are you interested in buying an apartment," The landlord asks.

"Yes, I am," She said.
"Okay, I'll just need you to do some paper work."

She nodded and patiently waited. "So um, where is this apartment located?"
"Near the Great Wall."

She nods and holds the doll she had since she was three.

The End of Hongse Zaosheng

She walks out of the office holding the deed to the apartment. She heads off to the grocery store with what little money she had. She enters the grocery store and wanders around til she found dumplings. She grabs them without looking twice. She wanders around again, spotting the broth she was going to make with the dumplings. She grabs it and makes her way to the check out. She left the store once everything got paid for. She walks toward another store, window shopping a bit. After a few minutes, she continued walking down the sidewalk. She hurries across the street going straight ahead. She couldn't wait to get to her apartment. She could finally eat in complete solitude. That's all she really wanted back at the adoption agency since she couldn't see herself being taken in by another family. She was right about that for the most part.
She finally made it to her apartment. Surprisingly, it was fully furnished. The landlord said it would be completely empty. She grabs a pot and cooks the dumplings. After a few minutes, they were done. She pours some in her bowl and begins eating. After three of them, she begins choking. She reaches out for something that may help but before she could grab it, she dropped to the floor dead. Her mouth was open slightly and her head was facing away from the table.

Becoming Death

They say that if someone doesn't have a proper burial, bad will become of that person. They won't face Heaven nor hell. They won't be sent to purgatory either. Their spirit will dwell the Earth, sending all souls to their fate or destiny. The victim whose death was never acknowledged would become one with death. It doesn't matter if they were male or female. In this case, it was the second time death came in the form of a person. They can't be seen by the living nor touched. Only those who are dying can detect a presence. It's neither real, fake or paranormal.... It just is....
As minutes turned into hours and hours turned into days, she lay there lifeless. At around midnight of one day, she blinked and got up. What was going on? She thought she died but apparently she was right there, standing. She looks around and walks to the mirror. No reflection. All she could see was a black cape with a hood and scythe in the background. She turned around, walking toward the cape and scythe. Right before she reaches out to get them, a subliminal image is seen. It shows her wearing the cape and holding the scythe. She grins evilly and walks off. The image ends and she takes a step back. That had to be her. Was she now a myth? Is she Death? She grabs the cape and puts it on. The clothes she was wearing disappeared and in its place was the cape and a purple mini skirt, a revealing shirt and knee-high boots. She grabbed the scythe and walked off.

Chapter two- Uncertainties ( Two Centuries Later)

Climbing out of the pool of acid, I sit on a block of cement. I watch pieces of my cape drip into the acid, revealing my silk black bra. The hook on the front of the cape melted off but somehow the other half stayed on. The gloves I have on are tattered and my hair is various colors. My eyes were no longer a light brown. They are grey. On my choker is a metal scythe.
That was fun. The person I was dealing with in the acid fell in there. I had to prevent her from coming out. Screaming as acid eats your flesh is so last century. I had to mix it up a bit. How did she get in there, you ask? She was fighting an ex-best friend... And she was losing. As soon as she hit the acid head first, it was all over for her. She did put up a good fight with me. Let's go back a few minutes, shall we?
Two women are fighting and while they are fighting, they get a little too close to the edge. Her ex-best friend pushed her and she fell into the acid. I dive in and yank her completely in the acid. Outside the pool, the ex-best friend watches in complete disgust as her enemy struggles. The woman jumps back up and gasps for air not realizing that only her muscles were showing. I pull her back inside until she is completely dissolved. The only thing that was left of her was a piece of bone fragment. That's when I pulled myself onto the block of cement. The other woman walked off. With a grin, I jumped and disappeared into nothingness. You see, I love this line of work because I can take the form of anyone or anything, I'm eternally youthful and I have the power to kill... Without being penalized for it.
It's dark out and there's a party going on in the distance. I make my way toward the party. I made a visit to this place over a month ago. They called this city the "Town of Destiny". Kind of odd for a city to be named that. Once I made it to the building, I sat on a branch of a tree. I got the perfect view... Of everything. On the first floor, there are a crowd of people dancing. In each room there were "Happy New Year's Day" banners hung up near the top of the walls. Upstairs there are a couple making out. I sit there and study the girl. She has blond hair with black highlights, green eyes, a fit body and a cheery voice. Well... That was about to change. I become dark matter and enter the woman's body. As the woman, I stared into the bathroom mirror. The lingerie she had on turned from pink to black. Her green eyes turn grey. I know how to be sexy even though I was never able to be sexy when I was alive.

Happy New Demise!

I open the bathroom door and do a sexy pose for victim number two. He walks to me and pins me to the wall. "Mm, hmm I like it rough," I said in a seductive way.
"I bet," he said picking me up by the straps of my bra.
He tosses me on the bed and gets
