Chapter 1
Anaxia
I looked around at the creatures that made up the squad of assasins that I controled and thought that across the field in a similar building were our sworn enemies and among them their general and the only true love I have ever had. Calcipher an Ifreite or fire elemental and general of the Shadow squad. And I Anaxia a Bloodland Elf and general of the hit squad known only as shadows death are and always will be deeply in love with one another.
“Kid you alright?” the Centaur standing next to me asked.
“Yeah and what have I told you about calling me kid Aberon?”
“Sorry Boss”.
“Anyway” commented Ally a mage, my second in command, and best friend.
“Continue” I stated bluntly.
“We picked up a scout yesterday but before the squad got here he had killed them and escaped”.
“What was the scout?”
“A Maldrix” I shuddered as the name rolled off her tounge. The Maldrix were a hybrid race of monsters whose only joy in life was killing and destroying. A fully grown Maldrix stood at 8 to 8 ½ feet tall and had strength beyond measure. They were mostly of a man shape but they had rippling muscle and under the layer of impenitrable fur they had red skin.
“Who was in the squad?”
“Maximal, Anra, and Paran”
“Where is Paran the Maldrix should not have been able to touch him he had wards to protect from that?”
“His wards didnt work against the Amrax that came for backup”
“Shit”.
“Has his fiance been told?”
“No ma'am we were not sure how she would react to us” murmered Bri from the far wall.
“Yeah he was your twin you are more family than we are” piped in Evon who was standing next to Bri. I looked up at the Angel standing across the table from me and then concluded that he was right and that his statement held truth. Yes I said Angel complete with wings and the glowing aspect. Next I looked at Bri his girlfriend and she shied away from my penetrating stare. Compared to the rest of the squad Bri has been with me for only a short time and is still kindof scared of me. She could match me in a fight if she tried it was partially due to the fact that her race was a lot like mine. She was a Forest Elf. They were as strong as my race but their skin was softer and their vision was less sharp along with all of the other sences. Evon steped infront of her and without looking away from his face I peircingly said
“Hello Father”. At that moment my father walked through the door behind me
“I just cant sneek up on you can I?”
“Not since my third birthday”.
“You are so much like your mother”.
“Thanks, Malachi what do you think I should do?”. The 6th and final member of the shadows death steped foreward from the corner where he had been crouching.
“Oddly I agree with Evon” said the fairie. I know what your thinking. A fairie? But this is not the 1 inch tall creature from the stories. They are as tall as a man with wings as long as their arms and they coat the tips of them with metal. They are fast and deadly and the most dangerous thing about them is that they are imensly beautiful but that is a thing with elves also so I am immune.
“Ok it is settled I will go and talk to Lizette”. As I walked out of the room I heard Bri whisper
“I thought she was going to kill me”
“No” whispered Evon “she was just thinking”.
I walked down the long hallway when I reached the door I was looking for I entered and found just what I thought I would the beautiful figure of Lizette suspended in mid-air eyes completely white. She was one of our seers and the only person who knew that I was in love with Calcipher. I waited a minute longer and she slowly started to decend to the floor when she landed I put my hand out and caught her.
“Hello Anaxia I know why your here and hes not dead”
“You have seen this for certain?!”
“Yes” she stated bluntly
“Where, How?”
“On the field where they were attacked they sent a Mel to look at the bodies”
“Of course, we look and feel dead to a Mel if we are unconcious, “Thank you you may have just saved his life” I turned to leave
“He says hi” this made me stop cold.
“You talked to him?”
“Yes he got inside my head”
“Thank you again”

I walked out and back to the room where my team was stationed. I burst through the door and said “assemble we are moving out”
“why” this came from Aberon
“Because Paran is still alive”
“How do you know?” Malachi steped foreward.
“Because Lizette saw it”
“how is that possible we would have known” Cried Evon as I walked out the door
“Not since you sent a Mel!!!!” I shouted back and I heard the realization as they scrambled out the door after me. I turned around when I reached the main door.
“Malachi and Evon fly low over head Bri you are my archer go up to the parapet and if you see anything that is not us or my brother... shoot it!!! Aberon you Ally and I are the fastest we will run to the site get Paran and run back You will carry Paran on your back.”
“Understood Ma'am” was the universal response and then I opened the door and pushed myself through. I ran as if death itself chased on my heels I heard an arrow fly over me and kill a wild dog that had been running towards me. I reached the site and found that my brother was in fact still alive. I picked him up and threw him on Aberon and thats when the squad jumped out from the bushes and I saw the trap that I had just fallen into. Leading the squad was Calcipher and behind him were the members of his team Cassy his second in command was a Demon complete with tail and horns next to her was Zachariah an Ogre with a scar across one of his red eyes behind Calcipher loomed Benog the Maldrix and overhead flew his 5th and 6th assasin, a Phoenix, Cade and flying next to him was a large man-like beast with four foot wings on either side of the spine but the most terrifying part of this creature was the teeth and the nails that grew out of the end of each hand. The Amrax, Sammi. The Phoenix droped to the ground and changed to his human state the team looked deadly. In an instant Evon and Malachi were on the ground with weapons drawn. The next thing I heard was Calciphers voice in my head 'Run Anaxia I did not knowit would be you I had no choice!!! Run Love Run'

He screamed. 'NO Play along I will not throw killing blows and neither will my team.'

I then pushed my thoughts to my team 'I just want to get away only injure them!!' 'Yes Ma'am'

I then charged at Calcipher my team right behind me I drew my Sarron, a blade about as long as my fore arm and jagged on a long chain and I saw Calcipher's eyes light up in recognition I swirled it around and landed it in the dirt where Calcipher had just been. So it began!


Chapter 2
Calcipher
I knew she was not going to kill me but Damn she sure looked like it! I drew on the energy in my core and shot a fire ball just past her head that either showed her that I was playing along or I was a really bad shot. She looked menacing as she stalked toward me her long black hair hit her lower back and her jade green eyes watched me intently she was only about 5 ½ feet tall but she was dangerous. At that moment Cassy sprung at her only to be clipped in the ankle by an arrow. Cassy fell and Anaxia sprung at me while I was distracted. She hit into me and we rolled down a hill. I got up and drew my sword she slashed at me with her Sarron and I blocked. Both weapons flew to the side she drew a hunting knife from her boot and I did the same we connected and then she ran to the side four yards and when I caught up she turned and threw a blow at my head and as she did so she said
“You should have told me sooner”
“Sorry” I growled as her blade found itself buried in my leg “I did not know it would be you”
“I came to get my brother the bait” this made me freeze.
Her siv, a short blade usually hidden in the hair, buried itself in my sholder and brought me back to attention. Benog had been caught by her brother and then Benog had nearly killed him with the help of Sammi. I felt ashamed and fell to the ground faking defeat she blew a short kiss my way then knocked me out cold. The last thing I remember is Anaxia running away and Cassy screaming my name then everything went black.

I woke up in my bed with bandages around my leg and shoulder. I sat up to see Cassy come in. It was no big secret that she had a thing for me everyone knew it. “Are you ok?” she asked timidly “Yeah” I fell back as a wave of pain radiated from my shoulder. “CALCIPHER” Cassy screamed. My vision went blurry and the pain increased and expanded to my leg. “Damn Elf coated her knife with nightshade.” Cassy said when the pain died down. “At least I am still alive” I smiled weakly at her. I knew that it was not nightshade but rather deaths breath if it had been nightshade I would be dead. Deaths breath has the same symptoms and hurts more but it is not lethal. Cassy sat down the tray that she had been carrying she then proceeded to tend to my wounds. I was not sure if I had hurt Anaxia but I hoped I had not. Cassy pushed me down on my pillows and stuck a knife handle in my mouth. She then peeled the bandage off my leg and I winced as the cold air hit my burning skin. “Bite down on that now” she said as she dripped acid onto my skin. I held back a scream as my skin pulled together. “Hold your breath tough guy the shoulder always hurts worse.” She was right because as she said that she dropped the acid on my shoulder and as she did a conciousness entered mine. 'Oh my god I am so sorry love hold on'

then my pain leviated and I knew that she was taking my pain away. I also knew that she felt the pain she was taking from me as her own. 'stop'

I said as the pain fell away completely. 'no I owe this to you'

She sounded strained and in pain. I looked up and saw why Cassy was injecting the antidote into my shoulder and I knew from experience that it stung worse than the acid. She pulled the needle out of my shoulder and I felt Anaxia's conciousness waver and begin to fade. 'Ana stay with me love dont leave me now' 'I'm sorry'

. At that instant she ceased and the entirety of the pain hit me like a boulder. I let the scream I had been holding loose and then fell unconcious in the waves of pain that followed I heard 'Calcipher I'm sorry'

I woke to find my wounds healed and my shirt off. I looked down to the end of my bed where Cassy stood fighting with my serving boy. The young imp looked furious as he squeaked “I was told to bring him this message and this meal and to give the message to no one but him and you are not him!”
“Cassy its alright” I said and they looked at me. The imp plodded over and handed me a stack of letters as thick as my hand then set the food tray infront of me and disappeared. I looked down at the letters in my hand and sighed “Cassy Status report”
“It is three days since you were injured. Since then they”she said it with contempt “have remained imobile and we have been working to heal you and restock our supplys since few of our supply trains ever reach us.” She turned to leave and I saw her ankle soaked in blood. “Cassy you should have me look at that” at first she kept walking but then I saw that it hurt too bad and she turned once again to face me. I got up to my full height and was towering over her then I crouched to get a better look at her ankle. It was a skim from an arrow but she had never let it settle. “Cassy” I scolded her she was of no use to me if she could not walk. I led her to a chair and forcefully sat her down. She looked up at me annoyed. “Calcipher I am fine”
“NO your not. I need you to be able to walk.” she shied away as the heat rolled off of my skin. I calmed myself and started to work on her ankle. “Bite this” I said handing her my knife. She did and I began to drip the acid onto her ankle. I heard her quickly intake breath as the skin on her ankle began to pull together.
“Dont stand on that for a while” I turned and walked to the medicine cabinet I put the acid away and turned to find Cassy sprawled out on my bed. 'oh no' I thought not again.
“Cassy dont do this again”
“Why Calcipher is there someone else?”
“NO but you need to get out of my room”
“Why I am the best thing for you”
“NO you are the best thing to me but not for me.”
“Fine I will leave”
“Thank you”
“Good bye sir”
and with that she left slamming the door behind her. I could not wait any longer I had to see Anaxia. I slung myself out the window and started to run. I reached the middle of the field that separated us from them. I pushed my thoughts out to find her. 'Ana can you meet me?'

it took a minute for her to answer 'yes I will meet you there'

I started to run to the spot where we would always meet deep in the woods hidden from unfriendly eyes. I got to the clearing and stepped into the calming waters of the glade.


Chapter 3
Together at last
I walked into the glade and there he was standing there perfect.He turned to me when he felt my presence and I saw the reaction I had been looking foreward to for days. The look of utter joy and love. He ran and embraced me in his arms and I felt the heat roll off of his skin as his lips found mine. We walked into the glade and soon were immersed in the whiles of heated love.

“Did I hurt you very badly?” I murmered into his warm skin as we lay embraced on the shore
“nothing I have not felt before” he murmered into my hair.
“Ah I feel terrible. Not only did I hurt you but then I failed you too.”
“I would rather die a thousand times than to hear you say that again” he whispered against my shoulder.
I began to sob into his chest and his embrace only tightened and I began to realize that he really did not care.
“Did I hurt you?” he asked curiously after my tears had stopped
“Yea you did you landed four blows on me.”
“Where?” he asked mortified
“Here” I whispered and I moved his hand to my shoulder “ You caught me with the edge of your knife”. “Here” I moved his hand to my face “You slightly burned me”. “Here” I moved his hand to my thigh “You stabbed me” “and Here” I moved his hand to the small of my back “You elbowed me”. He looked at me and his eyes started to tear
“Love I am so sorry” he began to sob openly and it was my turn to tighten my embrace. I let my love flow over him in waves. His tears hit my skin and I did not notice. He suddenly grabbed my thigh by the knee and hitched it over his hip. His lips found mine and I became submerged in ecstasy as his hot skin moved over mine. I loved him more than ever in that moment. Suspended in time and love never wanting to move again except to follow him to the ends of the earth.

Calcipher
I woke in the morning to find Anaxia dressed and standing on lookout. She was radiant in the dim light that was up this early. I rolled over so that I was facing her and she turned around. She walked over and I got up. I found my pants on the shore where they had been thrown the night before. I put them on and turned to face Ana and she was gone. I walked over to where she had been and looked around. I caught a quick glimpse of her leg and followed. She ran into a clearing and when I caught up she whirled around and grabbed me behind the neck pulled me close and kissed my lips so sweetly I thought that I would die from happiness.
“Calcipher you are like a drug to me” she whispered
“And you are mine love” I whispered back between kisses
“I need a break”
“What do you mean?” by this time I had stopped kissing her and was holding her out by the shoulders so that I could see her.
“Calcipher we have a week all to ourselves because our parties think that we are scouting. But I need a day of just me I need to hunt. I cant have you around or I might attack you.”
I knew what she meant then she had to feed and I knew what she meant about me being a drug. It was hard for her to resist biting me. She was a species of elf that needs to feed on blood to survive.
“Calcipher check your shoulder” I looked down and there on my shoulder was a bite mark.
“Love when did that happen.”
“Last night just after you stopped crying”
I knew what she had to do and I knew it was hard for her so I bent down and gently kissed her once more and whispered
“Go love I will see you tonight” and with that she was gone.

I walked away from Calcipher feeling like a piece of my heart had been ripped out and left with him. But I knew that I could not think about that while I was hunting so I put it out of my mind and ran. Ran from the pain and ran so that I would sooner be united with Calcipher.

As I stood there and watched the spot where Anaxia had disappeared. I felt a deeper and deeper sense of loss the further I felt her go. And then she got so far that I was totally and utterly alone. I walked back to the shore where we had spent the night and searched for my shirt. I found it and put it on then I sat on a rock and waited. I would wait until my love returned. And so there I sat.

I walked into the clearing and found the deer that I had been tracking had started to graze and as I walked into the clearing I spooked her and she started to run. However she could not get far enough before I was upon her and my jaws clamped around her neck. She kept freaking out as she and I tumbled down the side of a hill. We reached the bottom and after a few more panicked seconds the deer lay limp. I fed off the creature thanked its spirit for the sacrifice and started back up the hill. When I reached the top I sat down to rest. I knew that I needed it or I would never make it back to Calcipher. I got up and started at a walk and then my feelings got the better of me and I broke into a run faster than death.

I felt her before I saw her and when I saw her my pain lifted. Before I knew what was happening she was in my arms and I was kissing her as if my life depended on it. She pulled away and pushed me down onto the ground then she was back and her black hair fell around her face. My hands traced the perfect curves of her body and I was lost in love.

As I kissed him the missing part of me fell back into place. It felt so good to be wanted as he wanted me. I loved him and he knew it. As our bodies moved over eachother I knew then and there that I would never want another man as long as I could possibly live.

I woke once again in his arms and I felt the warmth of his chest against mine and I was happy. I looked down and saw a terrible sight. I had bit him again. I jumped back onto a tall rock. This woke him and he looked at me like I had stabbed him by doing so. I looked back at him and a tear ran down my cheek. He got up and walked to the base of the rock and looked up at me I looked down at him and began to sob. He reached up and grabbed my wrist and pulled me down to him with immense gentle strength. I sobbed into his shoulder.
“Love what is wrong? Arent you happy that we are here together?”
“I am Calcipher and I love you but I cant stand the thought of hurting you again.”
“Then stop crying. Seeing you sad is the greatest pain I know besides seeing you hurt or near death.”
“Calcipher I bit you again.” I was crying even harder now.
“Oh so you did” he started to laugh “Ana I cant feel that over the love I feel for you.”
I chocked on a sob and he pulled me out and kissed me I kissed him back as if my life was hanginng in the balance. I then turned and ran grabbing my clothes off of a rock I put them on as I ran. I knew that Calcipher was right behind me but I did not stop. I had to run this feeling off. I ran into a clearing and because I was distracted I fell over the edge of a hill.
“ANAXIA!!” I heard Calcipher yell as I fell down the slope. At the bottom of the hill was the edge of a canyon and I was heading straight for it. I saw it before I hit it. I went over the edge and fell through the air. I had a strange sense that I would die here and now and I passed out cold at the thought of never again seeing Calcipher.

I saw her go over the edge of the canyon and my heart stopped. I kept running though if there was a chance that I could save her I had to try. I arrived at the side of the canyon in time to see her fall into the river and she was not moving she was out cold. I backed up and ran and dove off of the cliff. I hit the icy water and saw her sinking to the bottom of the river I swam as fast as the icy temperature would allow. I reached her and pulled her behind me. I reached the surface of the river and started to swim toward the shore. When I reached the shore I pulled her out of the river and layed her out on the sand she was not breathing and I chocked back a sob. She had to be ok or I would die. Then was that a shallow breath? It was she was alive I thought I would jump for joy but I did not I stayed by her side not moving, not breathing, begging her to be ok.

I was faintly aware of a feeling flowing over me in waves. What it was however I could not tell. Love? Care? Pain? Fear? It became clearer that it was all of these things. I let my feelings go and all of the fear flowed out over the person next to me.
“Oh!” he was crying “Love can you hear me?”
“cold” I tried to whisper but I could not tell if he could hear me.
I got my answer when a blaze went up next to me. My vision started to come back as my body warmed up. I saw the face that I always longed to see staring at me crying and I swore then and there to never make this perfect man cry ever again.
“I love you” I forced myself to say
“I will always love you” he replyed. And with that I let myself drift into sleep.

My heart skipped a beat when she told me she loved me. I waited until she was warm then I put my hands out and picked her up. I walked with her bouncing lightly in my arms to the path. I walked up and sat her down so that I could rest. She was lucky and so was I we were both alive and we had eachother. I picked her up once more and walked to the shore where we spent these nights. I set her down and made sure she was comfortable. Then I set a fire and went to hunt I had not eaten in two days. And with her comfortable and sleeping I left planning to return before she woke up.

I woke in the glade alone. I sat up and my head started to spin. I laid back and looked around. Calcipher was nowhere to be found. I closed my eyes and began to cry. Then I smelled blood. And my body tensed. Calcipher walked into the glade with a dead deer slung over his shoulder. At seeing me awake he dropped the deer and ran to my side. I looked up at him and started to cry again. He dropped to my side and scooped me into his arms and held me there and let me cry. And while I cried he cried and we sat and cried.


Chapter 4
Battle Home
I looked out of the forest and saw the lookouts on both posts and I knew that far to my left toward his base ran Calcipher I knew I would be seen and I was under orders to not return till tonight. So here I would sit until I could break the cover of the woods. I felt alone as I watched Calcipher reach his base and enter. Then he was gone and I was alone. I sat on a log and took out the bracelet that Calcipher had given me as a parting gift. I watched the charm swirl with the living fire taken from his body and it calmed my swirling nerves.

I entered the place that was my home and I knew that I was leaving my love alone with no protection or company. Then I pushed the irrational thought out of my head I was only going to get in her way if I tried to protect her. But I still left her with nothing to do and I felt bad. I walked down the hall and heard some “Welcome home sir”s and a few “Nice to see you captain”s I pushed open the doors to the war planning room and was horrified at the sight of the board on which was posted the kill on sight pictures and right in the middle at the front was a picture of Anaxia. I made it so that my reaction did not show on my face and walked further into the room to find my team. I found them huddled around a table strewn with maps, tables, and Graphs. I came up and no one noticed, I had trained them better than this. I could have killed them all already and Anaxia would have had no problem whatsoever. I crept up behind Sammi which probably was not my best plan but there you go I was love struck and slow.
“You are all pathetic” I screamed in her ear. Sammi swung around and nearly scratched me in the face.
“Sammi stand down” shouted Cade and Sammi stopped in her tracks and looked at her boyfriend with eyes that gleamed with love. She was beautiful in a way. But to me none could match my love. I pushed the thought out of my head.
