"Ooh La La...the glamour of travel! This is the life! It's such great escapism",she thought to herself, as she took pause and savored the moment, allowing the crisp, salty air to fill every inch of her lungs.

Caribbean Blue
It was the 19th of November,
I'll always remember.
When I laid eyes on you,
Oh Caribbean Blue.
It was love at first sight,
Just can't forget that night.
When you made things right,
'Till dawn's early light.
With your turquoise seas,
And gentle ocean breeze,
You went 'round and 'round the cayes,
Right there in Belize.
You were sparkling and calm,
With your swaying coconut palm.
Dancing gently in the wind,
'Round houses with roofs of tin.
But home beckoned me away,
Though your watery embrace said stay.
Caribbean Blue so blue,
I'll surely miss you.
Island Soup Mix
Give me a ray of sunshine,
With a touch of blue sea.
Some powdery white sand,
As far as the eye could see.
Give me swaying coconut palm,
And cool ocean breeze.
Pastel-colored cabanas,
And a temperature of 80 degrees.
Give me folks dressed in shorts,
Walking around barefeet.
Soaking in the ambience,
And enjoying the noon-day heat.
Give me orange and yellow sunsets,
And moon-lit nights.
Karoake bars,
And harbor lights.
Throw in some Dancehall Reggae,
And some Calypso too.
A little Country and Western,
And some Jazz to complete the stew.
Mix this altogether,
With some Appleton Rum.
A Belikin, a Red Stripe,
Will get things done.
Let simmer for a few minutes,
As you savor the tropical aroma.
Then enjoy to your heart's delight,
'Till your vacation is over.
Solitaire
Lounging near the pool,
looking so very cool.
Clad in a blue bikini,
Sipping on a Vodka Martini.
A platinum blonde was she,
Visiting Espanto Caye.
Bronzed and statuesque,
Looking so arabesque.
She had the penthouse suite,
Fit for the pampered elite.
Here she could see the sunrise,
On this island paradise.
Dark colored Ray Bans,
Hid her dreamy eyes.
As she tried to hide,
From the stares of all those guys.
Folks often wondered,
Why she stayed alone.
This mysterious and sultry goddess,
Like a bright star she shone.
Reggae Sunsplash
At Sunsplash in Jamaica,
The music was tight.
The bands were jammin',
And the mood was right.
There was Dancehall,lover's Rock,
And the Jamaican Ska of old.
Roots Rock Reggae,
And the smell of Columbian Gold.
Bob Marley sang,"Waiting in Vain",
Even though it was pouring rain.
Said Burning Spear,"Don't have no fear",
Then sang his sweet refrain.
Peter Tosh jumped on stage,
"Legalize it" was his anthem.
Jacb Miller wowed the crowd,
Jimmy Cliff stood tall and proud.
Capleton came a skankin',
So did Buju and Junior Rankin'.
Rita Marley's tone was soothing, but raw,
As she urged the crowd to "Take one draw".
So it was,
This Sunsplash in Negril.
Of reefer and Reggae,
Folks had their fill.
Belizean Gyal
One hot summer day,
She came my way.
On South Water Caye,
Near an old coconut tree.
A Belizean Gyal was she,
Happy and carefree.
Soft-spoken and mellow,
So sexy and high yellow.
Her lips were crimson red,
She had a hat atop her head.
With legs long and shapely,
And a strut so very stately.
She smiled and said hello,
To me this foreign fellow,
Eyes glassy with admiration,
Heart pumping with anticipation.
Then I asked her for a date,
This Belizean gyal named Faith.
On South Water Caye,
Near an old coconut tree.
Island Romance
Hold me close,
Please don't go.
Say it to me gently,
Let the sweet talk flow.
Tell me that you love me,
Tell me you really care.
That you always will,
This I want to hear.
Promise me that you'll be there,
Come what may.
Through thick and thin,
No matter what people say.
Tell me that our love's complete,
That we'll never part.
For my romance on this island,
Is very close to my heart.
Island Hopping
Three girls were we,
Sherry, Tiffany, and Bree.
Went island hopping in the West Indies,
On a Princess cruise at sea.
We stopped first at Cancun,
Then at cozy Cozumel.
Bought souvenirs in Belize,
And enjoyed its summer breeze.
On the island of St. Kitts,
Where the trade-winds blow;
We heard Reggae and Calypso,
And also Soca-Mento.
On St.Vincent and the Grenadines,
We dressed in low-cut jeans.
Dined at a fancy restaurant,
And ate lobster with rice and beans.
Then back at the port of Miami,
Three girls happy but weary.
Had lots of stories to tell,
Of island hopping they enjoyed so well.
Caribbean Escape
Sizzling cuisine,
Sexy decor.
Relaxing ambience,
What more could you ask for.
Whisper of the ocean breeze,
Tropical climate.
Trees of the coconut palm,
A mid-day sun so warm.
Music of the Islanders,
Moonlit night.
Midnight star,
Drinks at a poolside bar.
A secret place,
A sweet escape.
Island soul,
Your main squeeze to hold.
Island romance,
Falling in love.
Promises made,
Wishing you could've stayed.
Thinking of you,
Makes me feel so blue.
Can't wait 'till the next time,
When I could be with you.
Island Dreamscapes
I live in a world of make-believe,
An imaginary world my mind conceives.
I see white sand beaches,
Feel soothing ocean breezes.
The warmth of the tropical sun,
On a paradise for having fun.
I see pastel colored villas that dot the seaside,
Looking silently outward,
To the incoming tide.
Like sentries on guard,
Palm trees stand watch.
In their silent vigil,
The trade winds they catch.
I see mega yachts moored off shore,
For the rich and famous I'm not sure.
On a wharf nearby,
A steel band music plays.
As folks gather around,
To dance or to gaze.
But how fleeting a world is this,
As such things may not exist.
Where colors are heard,
And sounds are seen.
Like they often do,
In a third heaven dream.
The Arrival
Mommy coming from states,
Her flight arrives at three.
So a jump with joy,
'Cos long time me no see she.
Mommy left in '77
I was only just eleven.
I remember how I cried,
When we got into the taxi ride.
At Philip Goldson Airport,
I had waived she goodbye.
And watched the plane disappear,
With tears in mi eyes.
With mi auntie Mae,
A had to stay.
And many a time,
A felt like running away.
But now mommy coming,
So, a call mi friend Sadie.
Then a hear mi auntie holler,
"Gyal, go get ready".
Oh what a jubilation!
A having a celebration!
Mommy is here with me,
To spend some time yuh see.
Island Fling
From nowhere he seemed to appear,
Tall, dark and debonair.
Torn from the pages of GQ,
Eye candy for me and you.
He sat down at the bar,
looking like a movie star.
Took a swig on a Beliken beer,
Then watched her with a stare.
She approached with hesitation,
Not one given to flirtation.
Giddy with titilation,
Trembling with expectation.
Sweet nothings he whispered,
Things in her ear seldom heard.
She was Marie Claire,
He was the Mack savoir faire.
In a dream she was lost,
Even though she wasn't dreaming.
She was his puppet on a string,
He, her island fling.
Carnival Jump-Up
The bass line is pumpin',
The Soca music jumpin'.
I hear feet a stompin',
The people dem a dancin'.
Come jump and wine,
And shake yuh waistline.
Have a good time,
On Tobago this isle of mine.
Take a drink a rum,
And have some fun.
'Till the mawnin come.
On this island in the sun.
And when the mawnin'come,
And yuh have a hangover,
Drink a 7-up soda,
So yuh can get sober.
Bahama Mama
Her charm is historic,
Her glamour is international.
Her waters are so blue,
You can see through and through.
With her you can do everything,
Or do nothing at all.
Bask in her sunlight,
Whether its summer or fall.
Amidst waterfalls and bamboo,
At the spa she'll pamper you.
Give you aromatherapy,
A swedish massage too.
With her you can unwind,
At the "Upscale Club",
Have a Vodka Martini,
Or a beer at the local pub.
You'll find her on Paradise Island,
On Nasssau you will too.
On Grand Bahama Island,
She's your Bahama Mama.
Missing You
When you left that morning,
My whole world stood still.
I felt incomplete and alone,
Gone was the thrill.
Someone like you,
I had never met.
Different you were,
So different than the rest.
The way you combed your hair,
And the way you dressed.
Your charming personality,
Your warm caress.
The way you made me feel,
The way you said certain things.
The time you spent with me,
The time you gave me that friendship ring.
The skies were always blue,
When by my side you were.
Now there isn't anything but gray skies,
And things I'm longing for.
I would hear a certain song,
That reminds me of you,
And relive those moments,
That I spent with you.
You've been gone a while now,
And most days find me sitting.
Waiting for a text message,
Or a phone call from you.
Independence Day
It is the 21st of September,
This you must remember.
Byron Lee is in town,
With that Draggonaire sound.
Santino's Messengers,
And Youth Connection,
Their own would have to hold,
Against Lee and his selection.
Excitement is in the air,
Radio Stations make it clear.
Bacchannal time it would be,
Here in this land of the free.
From L.A. and New York,
Belizeans arrive.
From Miami and Houston too,
To savor their homeland vibe.
So drink a Belikin beer,
Have a Coconut Rum.
Then dance to the Brukdown,
Of Mr. Peter's Boom and Chime sound.
Festival Time
In Basseterre,St.Kitts,
It's festival time again.
A musical show international,
Featuring Shaggy and Boys to Men.
There is Calypso with Sparrow,
Hot Soca with Arrow.
R&B with Ashanti,
Roots Rock with Crucial Bankie.
Hear lover's Rock with Sanchez,
And with Gregory Isaacs too.
Jazz with Pieces of A Dream,
Hip Hop with Wycliffe Jean.
Unwind at a Caribbean Beach Party,
Or take a boat ride.
Come join the Caribbean Massive,
Let your conscience be your guide.
Come mingle and feel the tingle,
Of a tropical island vibe.
Of this American and West Indian infusion,
I'm sure you'l imbibe.
Little Island Girl
A little island girl,
Oh so pretty and nice.
Sat at her table,
Eating beans and rice.
At the strike of one,
She heard the school bell ring.
And from the kitchen window,
She could hear the children sing.
She leaned out the window,
So she could hear it well.
It was Do Re Mi,
She could sing it well.
She scrambled down the rickety steps,
Of a wooden house built on stilts.
Not wanting to be late for school,
So she could learn the Golden Rule.
Three Little Birds In A Mango Tree
Three little birds in a Mango tree,
As pretty as can be they are chickadee.
With a tweet, tweet, tweet,
They are hoping for a treat.
Three little birds in a Mango tree.
Three little birds in a Mango tree,
Are fast asleep they are chickadee.
In their tiny brown nest,
On an island out west.
Three little birds in a Mango tree.
Three little birds in a Mango tree,
As pretty as can be they are chickadee.
At the break of day,
Fly far, far away.
Three little birds were not there to stay.
Way Down South
Way down south,
Where the jaguar runs free.
The Stann Creek River,
Meets the Caribbean Sea.
Here tin-covered casitas,
Dot the country side.
And orange grove orchards,
Grow far and wide.
Here the sun shines brightly,
Over the mountain tops.
And the tropical rain,
Bathes the banana crops.
Where in November,
We remember Garifuna.
In song and celebration,
In this Belizean nation
Then in December,
They dance John Canoe.
But folks don't forget,
Their Punta Music too.
Temptation Island,
Barefoot Luxury in a natural setting,
A colonial suite the blue Caribbean overlooking.
Where palm trees sway and the Trade Winds give way,
Amidst enchanting surroundings both quiet and serene.
A moonlit walk on a sandy beach,
At your feet an azure sea lapping.
Prancing and dancing,
Laughing and romancing,
As Reggae music fills the air.
On your private mahogany sun bed you realax,
As herons stroll through the shallows.
A miraculous sunset you enjoy,
Into the still of the night that follows.
With the moist island air and laid-back feeling,
Temptation Island will have you stealing.
Sweet kisses in the moonlight,
Somewhere 'round midnight.
Love Is In The Air
The season of Spring,
A bird on the wing.
The sweet song of the sparrow,
Cupids bow and arrow.
Love is in the air.
Diamond rings and pretty things,
Red roses and sparkling champagne.
A fancy island restaurant,
A luxury yacht.
Love is in th air.
The whisper of sweet nothings,
And the smell of sweet perfume.
The touch of things soft and wet,
Under the light of a full moon.
Love is in th air.
The joy of laughter,
The pain of sorrow.
Fears of absence and lonliness,
Feeling like there's no tomorrow.
Love is in the air.
Memories
Time endears but cannot fade the memories.
Like a ship sailing over the ocean,
They often disappear over the horizons of time.
To appear once again,
At life's next port of call.
Like footprints in the sands of time,
They are caressed,
Caressed by the gentle winds,
Of emotions held dear.
A laugh shared, perhaps,
With someone who cared.
So with the brush of time,
A masterpiece called "nostalgia",
Memories do paint.
With pastel colors of joy, laughter, and pain,
Of the way that once was.
"And a mellow moonlight poured in, seducing them with its romance and moody allure."
