CHAPTER ONE

THE BOY ARE HEARTBREAKERS

Fifteen years old Mikai ‘Mika' Messermans opened her eyes last, she discovered herself blindfolded. Outside of the hospital window, she could hear cars and other kinds of vehicles passing by in the street.

Moreover, she could hear chuckles, laughter, beeping sounds, passing tapping shoes, and high heels into the hospital's hallway.

Mikai had no idea what happened to her, or why she blindly folded.

Later, disparate the voice of the man who was crying uncontrollably about his thirty-fourth grandchild, made Mikai wonder why he was crying.

“Messerman, everything is fine. It was about time that she was brought fast to the hospital. If not, she would lose her life in the same spot.” The doctor explained.

“Um, thank you very much Jesus my living God. Please Lord healed my grandchild. I am praying to Thee to restore my grandchild to health. And I will forever remain faithful to You. To the last of my breath. She is the only descendant I have left by my thirty-third granddaughter.” Messerman grasped heavily.

“Nothing to stress about. And you need to be strong. We do not want you to get ill too.” The doctor sighed.

Mikai overheard the steps of both getting closer louder and louder unless it came to a complete stop.

After Mikai felt something cold on her chest, unidentified rough hands held hers.

Later, she wriggled her hands through her grandfather's rough hand and yelped back.

“Messermans. And would you care to tell me what caused you to scream like that?” The doctor asked.

“Pardon me, miss doctor. And would you care to tell me where I am? Please, would someone take this blindfold off me?” Mikai pleaded.

“I beg your pardon. And is this a joke, I thought that she was supposed to come unconscious in three days or more. But how could she have awakened suddenly?” The doctor gulped.

“No idea. I am confused as well about her being healed this quickly. Even at school she always comes home complaining about some girls making fun of her awkwardness. No offense.” Messerman replied.

“Adding her I have a phobia of boys because of what happened when she was eleven in middle school.” He continued.

“Let me guess, do they usually call her names?” The doctor asked.

“Exactly. And how did you know that?” Messermans asked.

Mikai's doctor leaned over to her grandfather's ears and whispered something shocking.

Messermans saw the doctor take out her diary from her purse and open some pages. She gave it to him who read through it with eyes. His expression was horrified in a thrilling loud threatening way as he covered his mouth.

“I had no idea that this was happening to her at school. Mikai never opened up to me.” Messermans answered.

“May I remind you that she is a girl? And it is a girl that is supposed to talk with someone. I mean about what she is passing through we find another of her kind. In that way, she does not feel embarrassed or awkward.” The doctor continued.

“Adding some girl who called herself ‘queen of the sea’ calling her ugly duckling. To continue, when she was in middle school her heart was shattered in pieces by the boy, she unconditionally loved right?” The doctor urged.

“Exactly. Mikai had a challenging time fitting into the world ever since she was an infant. I mean left at my doorsteps. And her grandmother and I raised her. In that letter, it was written that her parents drowned in the sea. So, she never had a chance to meet her father. Nor her mother who is my thirty-third grandchild. Neither have I another child apart from that.” Messermans answered.

“Christ, this is part just swallowed. And an unidentified person let her I thought your old doorstep fifteen years ago. Her parents drowned in the sea. And she was the only remaining girl who survived. Would you mind telling me how that happened?” The doctor asked.

“I mean in the state that I am living in which this same Manchester was flooded. And the wind was blowing very heavily, Thunder and rain endless. But when the cloud became clear that early in the morning, I went out the door and so fresh footprints.” Messermans nodded.

“In front of me was the child sleeping unharmed in the basket. In it, was an unidentified letter, it said “Morning Messermans this is your grandchild. I mean your thirty-fourth girl, take good care of her. And when she is fifteen, we will meet again. So, her parents were murdered by the sea. She is the only person that survived.” Messermans responded.

“Man, that is tough. To tell you the fact she is your flesh and blood but there is something else.” The doctor gulped.

“Something else? And what is that?” He urged.

“I do not know how that might sound, but your grandchild had an unidentified DNA.” The doctor whispered. “That might sound nonsense, but in Makai’s DNA, there is one percent fish DNA. Is it from her father? Or? Someone else in your family.” The doctor blinked.

“No, in my family we are a hundred humans. It might be from her British accent father from Europe. Her mother met him at a university in London. It was love at first sight, engaged after graduation, and they got married a few days later.” Messermans replied.

“I see. Would you mind telling me about her European father?” The doctor asked.

“He was from the royal family. And was a kind-hearted man, full of compassion, and called me his father.” He sighed heavily.

“Sure. And he might be in God's welcoming arms.” The doctor said.

“Pardon me. And did I just hear you saying you are my grandfather? Please, can the blindfold be taken off?” Mikai pleaded.

“Sure, and why not? Here let me help you. Besides Are you sure about this?” The doctor insisted.

“I am positively sure doctor,” Mikai agreed.

Mikai's felt her daughter gently grab the blindfold and remove it patiently as she wins in pain but opened her eyes.

“My, my. And let me now check it out, please.” The doctor interrupted.

She leaned closer as she stared into her eyes, and it was all right.

“Would you try to stand up? Besides, you were supposed to be three-week in a coma. Tell me what happened.” The doctor asked.

“Out of where something smacked my head behind me. I fell unconscious when I was standing in front of the pool.” Makai explained.

“Have any idea who is the person responsible for it? Is it the queen of the sea girl?” The doctor persisted.

“No idea. And she always reminded me to top-talk to our boyfriend. Her boyfriend is the one who talked to me. And I always tell him that boys are nothing but heartbreakers. I mean the boys are heartbreakers. But no!” Mikai roared.

Messermans glanced at his thirty-fourth grandchild with a sad expression.

CHAPTER TWO

PAIN THAT NEVER HEALED

Nineteen years old Gui Cornerstone was standing in front of his locker without seeing what was going on behind him.

He was trying to get his notebook from his biology class when something bumped into him behind him. It was one of the private boarding schools for wealthy teens in Manchester.

He thought whatsoever person would let go and then we go back to normal but no.

In his mind, he had a girl that he was unconditionally sure was the one. I mean that one he will spend his life with forever.

Later, something that he bumped into was not going to let it slide.

“I beg your pardon. And did you just touch me, you dirty peasant!” She shouted.

‘Please, Hamara, that was my bad. I did not see you behind me.” Cornerstone gulped.

“Not going to apologize, are you? And wait, aren't you the boy who has been telling your best friend that you loved me?” Hamara snickered.

“No way! And you figure it out!” Cornerstone gasped.

“Not a chance, Corner. And I will never be in love with a peasant like you. I am just telling you to your face. So, see you around.” Hamara laughed.

Cornerstone watched her walking away from him. In front of him stood his trusted friend with a disappointed expression.

“Ever since that incident, the pain of my past never heals. Or pain that never healed. I have been afraid of girls; I never want to do anything with them. So that is my fear.” Cornerstone thought.

After that, Cornerstone woke up as he panted heavily. He marched at the opening window as you look outside the massive ocean of water.

Salty air overwhelmed him like a tsunami, and he loved it. His parents and siblings are having fun at sea. Or went on vacation who lived in Tucson AZ.

Cornerstone wants to stop fearing girls but what happened in the past that his greatest fear.

Never holding on to the pain of the past. It is time to let go, that is his belief he holds whole heartily.

The world is overflowing with wickedness, chaos, and evil but it is time to move on.

Not holding the pain of the past but giving it all to Jesus.

“Never ever sea never, my friend. And are you awake?” interfere the female voice.

I turned around where I met my little cousin Georgette with her family.

My niece came rushing towards me with overjoyed laughter and hugged me.

“Papa. And how are you feeling, not hurting are you?” she asked.

“Not even close Mama. I am healed. And strong like a lion I tell you.” Cornerstone told her.

“Excellent. And I am not to worry if you are not.” she had said.

Cornerstone's bedroom door was swung wide open, while whatever person walked in.

“Papa, I am sorry to barge this but—. Oh, you are awake!” she interrupted.

“I am Mama Alena. And would you care to tell me why?” Cornerstone asked.

“Never ever sea never, that is our code sentence, right?” Alena asked.

“That is right. And what about it?” Cornerstone asked back.

“I want you to prepare yourself. Because it is Friday, and we are going to school.” Alena answered.

“Wait, what? Going back to school but—!” Cornerstone paused.

“Nope, there are no excuses. Besides, you are not staying here mopping the things of the past. I won't let you suffer inside this time around.” Alena insisted.

Alena pulled me by my hand and shuffled me into the restroom to wash my face and brush my teeth.

She waited in my bedroom while wearing her green and golden line suits. Her skirt was red, with pure diamonds and golden color with long socks, and brown boots.

Later, he came out with a sigh though wearing his boarding school uniform which was the same but with pants and brown boots.

“My Jesus Papa. Girls, this time around we fall at your feet.” Alena teased.

“I beg your pardon. Neither am I a God for them to fall at my feet. I am just a simple man.” Cornerstone chuckled.

“Nonsense! Let us just be on our way to school.” Alena answered.

Meanwhile, we found ourselves in the hallway of the school. Every one of our classmates was looking at me in shock.

“Cornerstone, my boy, you're finally here!” Discontinued the familiar voice.

He turned around in that direction, but he came to hug him very tightly. Alena burst out laughing but I scoffed in annoyance.

“Classic. I should know that I am going to meet you, Malaki!” Cornerstone groaned.

“Not my fault my man. And I meet you because you disappeared just like that without saying farewell to me.” Malaki scolded.

“Cornerstone, my old friend. You are finally back. Still, is she your new girl?” Nebuchadnezzar interrupted.

He was about to come to hug Cornerstone but moved away from him.

“Nebu, it is nice to see you. And follow me Malaki, I am sure we have some missing chit-chats to do. And yes, what about it?” Cornerstone chuckled.

“No way, man. And are you serious?” Malaki blinked.

No, I am not. And what if I am?” Cornerstone laughed.

Cornerstone looked at Alena next to him covering her mouth in shock.

He burst out laughing inside without holding back. Her face flustered a red color but turned back to normal.

“No, she is not Malaki. She is my loving little niece. And I am warning you!” Cornerstone snarled.

Malaki gulped hard in fright as he covered his face.

Cornerstone overheard his little niece burst out laughing hard when she saw Malaki's fearful expression.
