LUCIA CONSTANTINO
ACROSS THE GARDEN
Poems
dedicated to my parents Edgar Siqueira
and Hilda Reinhardt Siqueira,
in beloved memory.
SUCH AN ANGEL
Light has come
Such an angel in his way.
Flying from the ground of night.
Breaking the heart of darkness
Moving the souls on their own nests
Crossing the gardens of the universe
It is… It lasts…
SHINING
A piece of broken glass
Running on the ground.
Hurting leaves and the air
Around my night, around…
Who is still singing
And getting it by a star.
Leave it living by itself,
The day is not so far…
MY ROSES
Sorry for disturbing you.
I need to prepare my roses.
The wind is coming
Do not want me away.
My present and my past
Are these flowers.
They have the face of my days.
NO WORD
Judgment – it is impossible.
No night has come to say a word.
No day will be wishing
To carry upon a whole world.
LIGHT
A light in the garden
Maybe tears of your eyes.
Light made by the light
Of what I have never tried.
DO NOT CLOSE
Do not close the arms
These flowers belong to you.
There will be a day they will die
And I won’t be here to embrace you too.
MINE
Leave my poems in paradise.
Mornings are talking to me
while the sun dances in the sky
I do not want to see
My dreams reaching the night
Before me.
WHITE LEAVES
Whose leaves are those
White, crying to the air.
Across the garden flew the roses
From my face, but I was not there.
INSIDE
I heard the night screaming
Through the wind.
The birds in silence.
No time for fear or lies.
My bird is screaming
Inside.
A MAN
He arrived at His gate.
What a smile! What a light!
Told me the stories of gardens
That I have never met.
But I considered what He left.
My hands full of that perfum
The centuries gave to His back.
He will never return
Because my step is very slow
To reach His peaceful land.
Where, where will I go
Without the wings of that Man.
