Chapter 1

Cassandra Addison stared out her Uncle Richard's car window and watched the busy and bustling streets of L.A. disappear as her Uncle drove farther and farther away from L.A.It had only been yesterday when her parents had died in that horrible fire caused by a natural gas leak. Cassandra had almost been claimed by the fire when she had fainted from the fumes. A fireman had saved her and carried her out of the burning house without a scar anywhere on her. When Cassandra found out her parents had died she had refused to eat and whenever she fell asleep she would have nightmares about the fire and she would scream at the top of her lungs. Uncle Richard took his eyes off the road for just a moment to look at Cassandra and the looked back at the road. ''Cassie I know your depressed.''Uncle Richard said using Cassandra's nickname.''I am depressed.''Cassandra admitted wiping a tear off her pale cheek.''I miss your mom and your dad too but I don't think they'd want you to go jumping off bridges just because you miss them.''Uncle Richard said.''You seriously think I'd commit suicide!''Cassandra exclaimed shocked.''I would never dishonor my parents in such a terrible way!''.Cassandra glared at her Uncle Richard even though he was still looking at the busy road.''You're right Cassie I should not have assumed you would commit suicide.''Uncle Richard apologized.
