I woke up this Friday morning never knowing I was going to give up life as I knew it. I went to school and did the usual. Went to classes had lunch with my friends went to classes, rode the bus home. Thats it. Its what I do every day. I was so bored I decided to change it up that day, I skipped the bus and walked around town.


This was probably one of the most irresponsible things I've ever done. I walked into the candy store and bought some red vines with my money from mowing lawns. i walked out and started walking down the street again. i stopped at the costume shop to have a look around. i stopped at a Hannah Montannah costume. I thought about her show and how everyone never connect the lines to her being Miley. Its a wonder how ignorent people can be. Like with Josh, my best friend. I have been giving him hints for the past 6 years that i like him. He doesn't catch on, obviosly. I twirled my blond hair around my finger. It didn't really fit me. I should have been born a brunette, my skin is to dark and it makes me look a little freaky, oh well. i walked back out of the store after buying some super cute red feather earings. I'd never normally wear them, there too....I don't know they stand out, and I don't. Quite frankly I'm sick of it. I wish I could just start over. I got a smile on my face as the best idea I've ever had popped into my mind. start over....thats exactly what I'll do. I pulled out my cell and told my parents to come pick me up.

"Riley are you sure you want this?" My mom asked me as I told her I was done being....well me. Both my parents showed concern that there little girl wanted to become a more "out there" teen. I told them I was going to do this either way. I was going to become a new person. I new the plan....constant hair dyings, and change into my alter ego. My parent came to agreement with me about a half hour ago after hours of tears and heartfelt explaining. I went to school for the rest of the year as myself.


At the hair salon no one new me, my mom had always cut my hair which was now almost butt length. I sat in the chair and told the stylist I wanted my hair to be a deep exotic brown. After coloring was done I told her I still wanted my hair long but I wanted it to be layered and wavy. She did exactly what I wanted. She gave me a root touch up kit that would get me through the school year. After looking at my new hair that made me look so different she did my makeup for the first time in my life. When she turned me around I no longer had my face I was becoming something different. I went shopping next and picked out everything I thought was gorgeous and tried it on. I found that I had a nice body, and after years of hiding it behind baggy tshirts and jeans it showed off. I changed in the mall bathroom after all my purchases I would need for the next two monthes. I looked in the full body mirror. My eyes opened wide as I looked into the eyes of a stranger. A very hot stranger. My skinny jeans clung to my legs and hips in all the right ways.The leather jacket and hot pink tank I wore gave me soft of a sweet bad girl look, I liked it. I walked out of the bathroom with my practiced walk. I had trained for monthes walking in heals and was struting my new hot pink pumps. I couldn't help but notice a couple guys glance at me and smile I'd smile back and ocasionally wink. I think I could get used to this.


This is it. First day of school. First impressions are everything right? I'm wearing my red short shorts and a red tank under a black v neck. I had on my red two inch heals. My body was bronzed and my face was accented with the perfects amounts of make up. My green eyes popped, I neve new hor far eyeliner could take you.
This summer I also used my savings to get a new car. It's a red 52 rambler, my dream car. I drove up to the school. Everyone stands outside in the mornings and I parked in the front row, really just so I could like stick my legs out like in the movies you know what i'm talking about right. Everyone was already looking cause of my hot car. I stuck out one leg and the other (beilieve me I totally practiced this.) I glided out, while swinging my bag oout with me. Josh was walking past me then and he did a double take. He creased his eyebrows and tilted his head. I smiled my new whitened teeth.
"Hey!" I said.
"Hi." he said giving me a questioning look. I smiled even bigger. He furrowed his eyes even more. He shook his head. I raized my left eyebrow like I always did and his jaw dropped.
"HOLEY SHIT, Riley is that you!!?"
"pft! no I'm George Busch, yes it's me. Now close your mouth, you're going to swallow a fly." I said as I walked oast him and tipped his bottom jaw up. I was about five feet in front of him and he jogged to get in pace with me.
"What the hell happened!" he said, eyes looking me up and down."
"Change happened." I said shrugging my shoulders. we reached the concrete and I turned around to look at him.
"Yeah I can see that." he said "Shit, you've sure been hiding away haven't you?"
"What's that supposed to mean?" I said getting a little agravated with him, he didn't even say i looked good or anything.
"It means that my best friend is friggin hot, and now I'm never ganna' see her anymore, because she's gonna have a date every night. I smiled.
"Don't worry, I'll keep Wednesday afternoons open for you."
He smirked and rolled his eyes. "appreciated"
We laughed and Jeremy Flight, our school's football captain, came over.
"Welcome to Breakwater highschool."
"Sorry Jeremy, but I'm pretty sure I've been welcome here for a while now."
Jeremy tilted his head and gave me a questioning look.
"I'm pretty sure I would remember you if you went to school here."
"Maybe if you would have opened your eyes a little more, you'd see whats right in front of you." His eyes were wide since I had spoken to him like a little child.
"There you go, perfect!" I said and patted his face. I turned and hugged Josh, knowing Jeremy was still behind me.
"I missed you sooooooo much this summer Joshi." Knowing Jeremy would be embarassed, Josh hugged me back.
"I missed you too!" he said into my hair. We held onto each other for a few more seconds until the bell rang. Josh put his arm around my shoulders.
"rhylz, what have you gotten us into?"+
"Us, I got into this all on my own." I said looking at him. he twisted to of his fingers together.
"We're like this, If one of us goes down..."
"Or UP!" I butted in.
"Then we do it together." he said. we laughed and I kissed him on the cheek, It sent chills through my body, his skin was soft and warm.
He smiled, "what was that for?" He stopped and I stared walking backwards.
"That was for being my friend, no matter who I am." I then turned around and hurried to my first class.

It's lunch now and being the "new girl", everyone wants to sit by me. My table was full except for the one seat on my right that I was saving. I kept looking around the lunchroom till I saw Josh. I waved to him and he stooped midstride when he saw everyone at the table. I put a hand on my hip and motioned him forward with a finger. Reluctantly he walked to the table. He sat down next to me. We were really close together because our table had never been this full before. All the girls at the table kept on yapping their heads off ocasionally asking me a question.
Halfway through lunch, I noticed Joshi was staring at me.
"What?" I asked. He glanced back down at his food.
I slapped his arm playfully. "Dude I asked you a question, you know." He mumbled something I couldn't understand.
"really Joshi, I swear you have a sock in your mouth, cuz I couldn't hear a word you just said. I swear if you keep it up, no more kisses for you." I said as I nibbled on a french fry. He mumbled a little louder this time, but I still couldn't hear what he was saying. I cupped his face in my hands and put my forehead on his as I looked him in the eyes.
"I whispered to him this time since we were so close, but the sarcasm was still there.
"Speak louder boy! With you around I'm gonna need a hearing aid." I patted his cheecks and turned back to my food. i grabbed a french fry, and turned back to josh. I crossed my legs and smirked.
"Well, I'm waiting." I took a bite out of my fry.
"I can't beleive your taking this so seriously."
"I'm not, i'm just curious." I said grabbing yet another fry.
"Fine, It's just really weird, you know....you look....you know....different."
"And by different you mean....."
"Like good, different"
"How good?" He gave me the look like, (your really gonna make me say it.) I smiled and raized my eyebrow. he huffed and threw his head back and stared at the ceiling.
"Like really good." He mumbled, but I could still hear it, and wanted to again.
"Ahem, excuse me what did you say?" I said cupping my ear and leaning into him. He turned towards me.
"Don't make me say it again, we're friends, it's weird, I look at you a little differently now. it's gonna take some getting used to." I widened my eyes sarcastically, "Omg! do I actually look female now, why didn't anyone tell me!?" He looked at me with a pained expression, "Rhylz, really ok your hot, happy now?" The bell rang and I grabbed my last french fry, as I got up from the table.
I wiggled my eyebrows and looked over my shoulder and smiled. "yup!" and I walked away.

Me and Joshi had our last hour together and we sat next to each other along with ten other people who were now comming up to me and calling me babe, buddy, hot stuff, bestie, BFF, and funny thing, I honestly dont think they new who i was before. Me and Josh were walking to class after we went to our lockers and I stumbled and dropped all of my stuff, Like 5 guys came and helped me and walked with me to my class. Josh had forgotten something in his locker, I must have been slow because he made it there before me and saved me a seat. He was staring at me again with a frustraited look on his face, he couldnt tell I could see him out of the corner of my eye. I tried to look as attractive as possible, I had my legs crossed and was bobbing my foot, I was doodleing in my notebook and ocasionally flipped my hair a bit. Nothing fazed that look he had. After class was over, I hooked arms with him and we walked to our lockers, we have almost same last names so we were right next to each other. I'm Tanners, he's Taners, yup, and that would be how we met in the 2nd grade, ahhhhh good times. We got our stuff and we walked out to my car. he raized his eyebrows.
"Damn, I wish I HAD a car." I laughed and told him to get his ass in the car. We got in and we decided to got to the park. We walked to the playground and he pushed me on a swing.he was gently pushing me today, unlike when he twirls it around and lets go so I fly around in circles, so he must be daydreaming. While he pushed me and I swung away from him I turned upside down and let my hair fall out of the side pony I'd had it in today.I flew back towards him and pulled his pants down, he was wearin grouch boxers, we have matching pears. I started laughing really hard. His face turned red and he pulled his pants up. I was laughing so hard I couldn't breathe. He glared at me.
"Rhylz I am sooooo ganna' kick your ass!" I screamed and ran away from him into the field, I was more coordinated but he was faster. He grabbed me from behind and pulled me to the ground. I was laughing so hard I had tears running down my face. He looked at me with a big smile on his face.
"gotcha."
I was still giggling and he started to tickle me.
"You know.......you should.......reallly...pay more ......attention.....when I'm around." I said between giggles.He stopped and pinned me down. He got really serious.
"Riley, I always pay attention when your around." I tried to lighten that subject, but I got lost in his dark blue eyes. I swallowed hard.
"We should probably go."
he nodded and helped me up.
I grabbed my shoes and we headed back to my car.
"So, You're wearing the boxers I got you huh."
"I couldn't find anything else that was clean."
"I can see that, you haven't cleaned your room in 5 years."
He smiled. "Yeah, I know, You did."
"I'm Sorry,but it was a sty."
"Hey don't bash the man cave."
"well I guess man cave is a good term considering it kind of is one, you never no what creepy crawly thing will be under the next thing you touch."
"Well then."
"Oh, nice come back, felt the burn." He stuck his tounge out at me as I slid into the car. I locked the doors so he couldn't get in. Damnet Rhylz, open the door. I put my feet up and pretend examine my nails. He pulls hard and I unlock the door, he flew onto his butt, and just sits there. He layed down on the Black Top and stared up at the sky.
"Wtf are you doing?' i ask.
"Waiting for you to appologize." I got out of the car and sat on him with a leg on both sides of his abs.
"Fine, I Riley Tanners, is sorry I pulled down your pants, and unlocked the door so you would fall down." He sat up.
"and...."
"and what?" I said. He tapped his cheek. I rolled my eyes, but was secretly excited he wanted me to kiss him again. I kissed his cheeck and kept my lips there longer than the first time.
"apology accepted." Joshi said with a smile. We got in the car and we drove to my house. i kissed my mom on the cheeck and me and Joshi went up to my room.
"wow, your room changed just as much as you did!"
I layed on my new green bed spred. The pictures of me and Joshi were still all over the room though. Josh jumped on the bed and fell down next to me. He proped up on his elbow and played with my red feather earings, (remember those;) ) his fingers litely brushed my skin and my body got all tingly. I rolled over and mirrored his position. he pushed a strand of hair out of my face. I looked straight into his eyes. It seemed to happen in slow motion. Our bodies inching closer, our eye's slowly closing, our heads tilting, our hearts beating, and the sound of Joshis moms voice yelling for him just as our lips barley brushed. Joshi mushed his eyes tightly and sighed. He brushed another invisible hair off my face, and kissed my forehead. He got up and walked to the door. he turned around and gave me an appologizing smile. I smiled back.
"Pick you up at seven?" I said. Joshi smiled and looked down.
"Yeah, Riley, I'll see you tomarrow. he closed the door and I layed on my back and kicked my legs in victory.
"Hey, I forgot my..............." I smiled and looked at him in my frozen victory dance. he walked up to me and looked down into my eyes.
"I forgot this." he kissed me and it felt as if heaven had crashed down into my bed room. I put my arms around his neck, and he rested his on my hips, after his mom called again, we released each other. i bit my lip and smiled up at him. He kissed me once more lightly on the lips and on the forhead. He turned around and smiled back at me before he went for the door. As he turned again he stumbled and I held in a giggle and brought a hand to by mouth to cover my amuzment. I waved my fingers. And he started to walk backwards, his chest kind of puffed out a bit as he saluted me a goodbye. I giggled and he turned and left out my door. I repeted my victory dance about fifty thousand times and couldn't stop smiling all night.

I woke up today with a big smile still plastered across my face. I reached into my closet and pulled out my ensamble for the day. A turquoise v neck, just to where it's school apropriate. black short shorts, peacock feather earings and black converse. I got in my car barley able to stop jumping around in my seat. I pulled up to the house I knew as well as my own. I honked the horn, but joshi was already out the door. He came to the drivers side and looked through the window. He put his nose to the window and crossed his eyes. He puckered his lips up and put those to the windoe too. I rolled down my window.
"Joshi, you smeared my window!"
"Well, I guess we'll just have to wash your car after school." I smiled and looked at him strait in the eyes. He leaned into the window, and laid a soft kiss on my lips. I could feel his smile, and my head was dizzy with the pleasure I had been costantly waiting for sice the second grade. Joshi and I seperated and he got in the car. He grabbed my waist and pulled me into the middle seat, and gave me a quick peck. He smiled big and sighed. I brought my head to his shoulder and breathed in his sent. He always spelled like pancakes, it's kind of weird, but pancakes are my favorite food.
"I could definatly get used to this Rhylz."
"Mmmmm, me too I said." he put is arm around me.
"I guess we should go to school...."
I sighed and scooted over to my seat. Joshi watched me the whole way there. When we arrived I reached back to get my bag. Josh came to my side of the car. I did the leg thing again, but it was a lot easier with Joshi helping me. He pulled me up and quickly put his hands around my waist and pulled me so our torsos were touching. he was serious and looked me in the eyes.
"Hey, Riley?"
"Yeah?"
"Do you really like me? Or is this just something you had planned out?"
I put my hand on Josh's cheek.
"Joshi, I've liked you since the 2nd grade when Mrs.J was taking roll and instead of saying 'here' you yelled out monkey ass. I was laughing so hard when she called my name after yours that I fell out of my chair." I kissed him on the cheek to reasure him. We put our forheads together and our noses rubbed together. We let go of each other and realized everyone had been watching us. We walked up to everyone and two spastic blondes came up to me. They were smiling away. Joshi was talking to a group of guys that had come up to him
"OMG! It's only your second day, and you already got yourself a cutie!" the girl on my right said.
"How'd you do it?"
"Just don't try so hard, it scares guys away." This had been something Joshi had been annoyed with a few years ago. I smiled and turned back to Joshi. I slid my hand into his, and he looked at me and smiled. The guys were still talking and Josh interupted them.
"Hey guys I have to go, later." Joshi and me walked over to the corner of the school and sat down in the grass. He was behind me and I was leaning against him. He played with my hair and I traced designes on his foot. He brought his hands to my shoulders and rubbed my back.
"Mmmmmmmmmm...." I said as he got to my neck.
The bell rang and we both sighed. We linked hands, and walked over to the crowd of people shoving themselves through the doors. We walked to our lockers.
"I should hirer you to be my personal massuse."
"Ten kisses an hour, thats my price."
I put my hands around his neck and tillted my head.
"I dont know, if I'm kissing you so much, how will you every get to the job."
"Good Point he said, seven an hour.''
I smiled and kissed him on the cheek.
"That does sound better."
The warning bell rang and we grabbed our stuff and went to our classes.

I daydreamed through my first five hours, I had learned all this already, I was offered to skip a grade, but I wanted to stay with Josh, so turned them down. It was lunch now, and I waited for Josh at my locker. I was looking through our little bit of homework. Someone grabbed my butt from behind, and I screeched. Jeremy popped up in front of me, the culprit.
"I like what you've got. Maybe you and I could do something later."
"Yeah we could fill out your sexual harassment assesment."
"It's not harassment if you liked it."
"Well I didn't, and neither did Josh."
Josh came up behind him, and spun Jeremy around.
"What the hell do you think your doing?"
Joshi wasn't as strong as Jeremy, but he was faster. I didn't really know who would win in a fight, but if it came to that I would deffinatly root for Joshi, he was on the wrestling team.
"Just taking whats rightfully mine."
"What the hell is that suposed to mean!" joshi said with fury.
"It means I'm the hottest thing in the school, and she's the next hottest, it's only logical that she be with me." Jeremy said matter of factly.
"I wouldn't date you if you were the last person on earth!" I said.
"Well I think I could convince you." he said turning back to me. he grabbed my arm and pulled me to him.
"Ow! let me go!" I said pleadingly. Josh grabbed his arm and whipped him around, Jeremy still keeping the painful grip on my arm.
"Realease her arm or I will realease yours from it's socket." Joshi said staring deeply into Jeremy's eyes." Josh was kind of scaring ME, and I wasn't even the one his anger was dirrected at. he must of scared Jeremy too because he let go of my arm. Josh realesed him too, and came over to me while Jeremy walked away. Josh came over to me with worry in his eyes.
"Riley are you ok." I nodded and hugged him. He held me and let me relax. I let out a breath.
"Let's just go get some lunch." i said into him.

We have open campus so we went to the diner downtown. We have hour lunch so we were ok with time. Joshi and I shared an order of fries and chicken strips we sat in a booth in the corner. We sat next to each other and I leaned into him. he put his arm around me, and I put mine around him.
