Jumper with Sweater Pattern

MATERIALS:

 

Jumper:


    2 (3-4) skeins Sport Yarn, Orlon Sayelle or Wintuk Sport Yarn (2 oz. skein)


    1 circular knitting needle No. 4, 24 inch. long


    1 pair knitting needles No. 4


    1 crochet hook No. 3 or D


    2 buttons


    1 neck zipper 4 (5-6) inch. long


    1 stitch holder

 

 

Sweater:


    2 (2-3) skeins Sport Yarn, Orlon Sayelle or Wintuk Sport Yarn (2 oz. skein)


    1 pair knitting needles each No. 2 and No. 4


    1 set sock needles No. 2


    1 stitch holders

 

 

GAUGE: 6 sts. = 1 inch

 

JUMPER:


    Cast on 1715 (185-195) sts. on No. 4 circular needle. Join being careful not to twist sts. Work even for 1 inch and put a marker on needle for hemline. Work even for 2½ (3-3½) inch.


    1st decr round: * K33 (35-37), K2 tog. repeat from * all around (170 (180-190) sts. on needle)
Work even for 1 inch.


    2nd decr. round: * K32 (34-36), K2 tog. repeat from * all around (165 (175-185) sts. on needle)
Work even for 1 inch.


    3rd decr. round: * K31 (33-35), K2 tog. repeat from * all around (160 (170-180) sts. on needle)


    Work even for 1 inch.


    Continue to decr. 5 sts. in round every 1 inch having 1 st. less between decreases until 140 (150-160) sts. are on needle. Work even until 10½ (11½-12½) inch. from marker or any des. length to underarm. Work across 70 (75-80) sts. and slip them to a holder for front. Change to No. 4 straight needles and work back and forth in stock. st. across rem. 70 (75-80) sts. for back only.

 

BACK:


    Bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 4 (5-5) sts., at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. (all sizes) (58 (61-66) sts., left). Back Opening: Work across 29 (30-33) sts., tie in another ball of yarn. (For size 3 only: bind off next st.) and work across rem. 29 (30-33) sts. Working both sides at the same time work even until armholes measures 5 (5 ½-6) inch. from the first binding off. Bind off for shoulders at armhole edge on each side 7 (8-6) sts. 2 (2-3) times. Rem. 15 (14-15) sts. on each side bind off.

 

FRONT:


    Slip the 70 (75-80) sts. from holder back to needle, attach yarn and work back and forth in stock, st. on No. 4 needles and bind off for armhole as on back (58 (61-66) sts. left). Work even for 3 (3½-4) inch. from the first bind off. Neck Shaping: Work across 20 (22-24) sts., bind off next 18 (17-18) sts. for neck, tie in another ball of yarn and work across rem. 20 (22-24) sts. Bind off 2 sts. on each side of neck edge every other row until 14 (16-18) sts. are left on each side. Work as high as back and bind off at armhole edge on each side 7 (8-6) sts. 2 (2-3) times.

 

FINISHING:


    Sew up shoulder seams. With No. 3 crochet hook work 2 rows s.c. around each armhole and neck edge and 1 row s.c. around bottom of jumper and neck opening. Turn up 1 inch hem as marked and sew to wrong side. Tab: Cast on 2 sts. and work in stock, st. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of the K row until 6 (6-8) sts. are on needle. Work even for 4 (4½-5) inch. Decr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of the K row until 2 sts. are left. Bind off. Work 1 row s.c. around tab. Sew zipper into back open­ing and tab across front of jumper with a button on each end as shown in picture. Block to size.

 

SWEATER:


    BACK:


    Cast on 68 (72-76) sts. with No. 2 needles and work in ribbing K2, P2 for 2 inch. Change to No. 4 needles and cont. ribbing until the entire piece measures 7 (8-9) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Shape raglan armhole: bind off for armhole at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. 1st row: K1, slip 1, K1, p.s.s.o., work to last 3 sts., K2 tog., K1. 2nd row: work back. Repeat these 2 rows 20 (22-25) times. Rem. 24 (24-22) sts. slip to a holder.

 

FRONT:


    Work Front as Back until 11 (13-15) raglan decr. are completed, there are 42 sts. (all sizes) left on needle. Shape neck and continue raglan shaping: Work across 13 (13-13) sts., slip on a holder for neck next 16 (16-16) sts., tie in another ball of yarn and work across rem. 13 (13-13) sts. Cont. to decr. for raglan as before 8 (8-9) times and at the same time decr. 1 st. at neck edge on each side every other row 2 (2-1) times. Rem. 2 sts. bind off on each side.

 

SLEEVE:


    Cast on 32 (36-40) sts. with No. 2 needles and work in ribbing K2, P2 for 1 (1½-1½) inch. Change to No. 4 needles and cont. ribbing. Incr. 1 st. at the beg. and end of every 6th row until 46 (52-58) sts. are on needle. Work even until the entire sleeve measures 7½ (8½-9½) inch. or any des. length to underarm. Shape raglan cap: bind off at the beg. of the next 2 rows 2 sts. Decr. for rag­lan as on back 20 (22-25) times. Bind off rem. 2 (4-4) sts. Work the other sleeve to correspond.

 

FINISHING:


    Sew up side and sleeve seams. Sew sleeves between front and back. Turtleneck: Right side facing you pick up with No. 2 sock needles 68 (76-84) sts. around the neck incl. sts. from holders and work in ribbing K2, P2 for 2½ (3-3) inch. Bind off loosely K as K and P as P. Press lightly.
