The Storm
As i wait inside huddled in a corner I pray.
Pray that God will give me bravery, strength, and safety.
I see flashing lights from the dancing lightening.
I count, 1,000 2,000 then boom.
Another flash happens but no time to count, because a sound fills the air right after.
It reminds me of a million gun shots at once.
Then the lights flicker, I jump in shock.
The satellite for the television dies.
I start to shake.
The rain comes pouring down in a rush.
When I go to make sure all the windows are shut I come across an open one.
I look out of it and big white crystals are falling.
I try to close the cramped window but it won't budge.
That's when I realize there's a piece of hail caught in it.
I push, and push and finally it falls.
As I close the faded curtain I peak outside once more; the trees are still.
Everything is calm, and quiet.
Too quiet.
But then the wind picks up, it stops raining.
I run outside and look towards the east and see a dark figure.
I almost drop to the ground.
I go inside, switch on the t.v. and go to the weather.
A tornado touched down in Ames, Iowa.
I'm in so disbelief I almost fall to the ground.
Then I realize he, God was with me.
He gave me bravery.
He gave me strength.
But mostly he gave me safety.
