Introduction

For parents it must be hard to understand why your kids would do these things. You want to believe it's because were just not thinking straight or something like that. However we do understand and we understand the sacrifices we're making. This includes the football star who started loosing focus and lost his chance at a scholarship to the college of his dreams to spend time with the girl he is completely in love with. He did it because he felt it was possible she was the one for him. This includes the daughter whose parents are doctors or lawyers or pharmisists (hope I spelled that right) who fell in love and married a farmer's kid or a poor person. We know you want the best for us and want us to understand this but in return we want you to understand us.

Chapter one

"Tammy?" Karen calls. "Yeah?" I ask coming outside with Cam next to me. "Oh hello Cam would you two go up and watch Maggie and the twins for me?" she asks. "Umm sure." we answer. "Thanks I'll pay you both of course." she smiles grabbing her purse. "Oh no need you all are family but um Cam probally wants money." I assure. "Not needed any family of her's is mine." he answers lacing our fingers together. "You two are lifesavers I'll be home at eight. Please fix them something to eat." she gushes. She drives off and we walk up the street. "Maggie? It's Tammy and Cam we're here to babysit the twins." I call walking up the stairs. "Hey Emma." I coo picking up the toddler. "Hey Emily." Cam coos picking up the other toddler. "What would you like to do today." we ask them. "Blocks!" they scream. "Cam?" I ask. He takes Emma from me craddling both the twins while I get the blocks. "Here you go." I inform placing them on the floor. "I'll fix your lunch while you two play." Cam tells them setting them on the ground. "You want some help?" I ask. "Sure." he agrees leading us to the kitchen. We fix the twins peanut butter and jelly sandwiches and Maggie some oatmeal. Since all the rooms were door less Maggie watched us. Cam handed me the oatmeal to give Maggie and pecked my lips. "Here you go would you like me to get you anything?" I ask Maggie handing her the bowl. "Would you try and call my son?" she asks accepting the bowl. "Of course I'll call Derrick." I answer walking over to the phone. "Derrick,Maggie wants to speak with you." I inform. "I hate her." he answers before hanging up. "I'm sorry." I apologize. "I shouldn't have interferred in their relationship." she sighs. "It's not your fault do you want your pain medicine?" I ask. "No thank you." she answers. I felt Cam slip his hand in mine and I turn to him. "Cam let go." I sigh. "Sorry. Didn't mean to upset you." he apologizes dropping my hand. I sit down next to the twins and grab his hand again. "Your so weird." he whispers into my ear. "You know you love me." I laugh. "I do I love you so much." he replies. "Hmm you two make a great couple unlike my son and the girl that ruined his life." Maggie informs. "Tell me about it you never told me that story." I reply. She nods and stands up. "Do you need something I'll get it." I answer. "No I'll get it." she answers staggering off to her room. "Emma Emily do either of you want anything?" Cam asks. "No." they sing. I scoot closer to Cam and rest my head back on his shoulder. He turns around,so I'll be more comfortable and runs his arm up and down my side soothingly. "Here we are an album." Maggie mutters in her room. "See this Tammy?" she asks pointing at a certificate. "A school all "A" award?" I ask. "Yes my son's then he met that girl and his grades slipped by the final semester he barely made "C's"." she answers. "Oh." I answer. "Then...he got her pregnant." she adds looking down. "I'm sorry." I whisper. "It wouldn't have been so bad if they weren't such bad parents." she whispers. "What do you mean?" I ask. "I feared for the baby's safety I ended up having to call social services." she wailed. "I had no idea." I whisper. "It was horrible." she cries. "Calm down." I whisper. "I wish they were like you too then maybe I would be able to see all my grandchildren." she whimpers. "Well at least you have Emma and Emily." I shrug. "I suppose." she decides. "Tell you what if I ever have kids I'll make sure to put you as their godmother." I suggest. "I'd love that dear but the cancer isn't going to let me last long, and you and Cam should deffiantly wait." she winces. I jump up and grab her pain medicine. I give it to her but she still acts like she's in pain. "Cam what should we do." I whisper. "Call Karen." he instructs. I call her and she says she was coming back to take her to the hospital. "Calm down sweetie Maggie will be alright." he whispers pulling me into a hug after they leave. "My brother is going to lose his grandmother." I whisper. "Shh it's okay." he promises stroking my hair. Maggie stayed in the hospital for two days. Not once did Derrick come visit her. Cam and I went both days. Her last words to us we're,"Tell your brother I love him,and I meant what I said you two were meant to be together." She passed away an hour later. Cam let me cry on him until I stopped which took two hours. My brother didn't even cry for his grandmother.
