Chapter 1
When I was eight years old I would watch vampire movies and I would always want to be the main character because their life seemed so fun and advanturous.I would stay up half the night just thinking about what it would be like to be a vampire. Would it fun? Would I be able to fly? Can I have all sorts of powers? I had a lot of qusetions but never the answers.
But sometimes we are blind by our own curiousities the we can see things for what they really are.
It was cold dark stary night, my mother and i where sitting on the soft black couch watching movies in the living room and eating pop-corn- which had the taste of sweet butter running down your throt- and laughing away the hours of our day. I layed on her lap with a large winter blaket as she storked my hair from the roots to ends and i couldn't help but feel like this was the safest place in the world. That's when I finally took a good look at everything around me and know something was missing.
"Mommy, do you think I can become a can be a vampire?" I expected for her to say something like "If you try with all your heart." just to make me laugh and i would have known that she loved my humor. And for one moment i would get to hear her sweet-loving voice on last time before...well what happened later. But for some reason she did neither.
"Why would you ask that?" She said in a rush as she looking franticlly down at me. She nevered looked at me with those eyes before; she was scared and discussed. Once I saw that look I winced away from her lap.
"Because w-when i grow up I want to be a v-vampire." I smiled shilly as i gazed up at her. And as I tried to stare at her wide havel eyes she started to turn toward the deep-red paint on the walls, looking over my head as if someone was there.
She sighed, head facing the ground below and ,finally, looked into my eyes, laied a hand on my check, and spoke. "You know I've always told you to follow your dreams...", i shook my head,"but this is not a dream. I love you so I have to tell you this. You will never become a vampire. THEY ARE NOT REAL! Stop dreaming."
Tears swam down my eyes as I backed away from my mom and off the couch. I shook my head just trying to make sure I didn't fall a sleep-making sure i wasn't in a dream. I dream would have been better than this.
"Why?..." I cried out-choking on my tears. My dream fading away as to be dust in the wind. "I want to be a vam.."
"Honey, you don't know what you want. It's better if you find something else to dream about. You should head to bed-it's getting too late." She turned off the TV and placed the pop-corn down as she headed to her room. But right before she opened her bedroom door I ran up the stairs after her.
"My dad would want me to be a vampire! He told me that being a vampire is a great life. He'd loved me enough to let me be anything i wanted to..."
"What did you just say!" Her voice raisen to i point were it periced my ears. I backed away.We have never talked about dad after his death two years ago. Mom always got angery at me for just saying his name. "I'm not going to ask you again."
"Dad said I can be anything I wanted; even a vampire."
"Your dad is dead and he's not coming back. So don't talk to me about what that men siad to you."
I ran to my room and closed the door as i lunged for my bed. I cried so hard that my tears started to feel like bullets. How could she say that about dad? Just because he is dead she has the right? I hate her!
I cried all night until I fell asleep. But who knew that the time i spent sleeping was the time that i needed to be awake.
I woke up to dark clouds above my bed and intoxous fumes lingering in the air. I could smell the faint scent of burning wood and jumped out of bed and into the hall.
There were more clouds and the smell was even stronger as it hit me again and again with each step i take as if to force me to surrander to its will. I did no such thing as i steped closer to the other side of the hall- the side were my mom was.
I ran to the door screaming for her but there was no answer to be found. With no answer to be heard i began to worry. Where could she be.
I searched all over the top floor, almost completly blinded by the black clouds with each door that i opened.
After running around looking into door after door, i decided to start looking down stairs. I called her name even louder as i reached the last steps and searching for any sign that she was there.
Finally, as i turned the counter of the enterance hallway i found her laying on the floor, a pool of blood right beside her. But with just that sight i could also see the flams surrond her.
"Mom!" I ran toward her figure. Suddently a hand swug me back until i faced its direction. And when i gazed up i saw a men staring back at me. He was tall and lean with bright red hair. His eyes were a deep gold color but looked as if they could kill. They were the eyes of a demon. I gased as the man smiled and said "Where you think your going?" because as he smiled i could a pair of glisening fangs pointed right at me.
