ACT I
The villagers of Nyaketoga have been working tirelessly to pay the king and the queen hefty taxes. They have to till huge pieces of plots, sell produce from the shambas, sell their animals, do manual jobs, as well as others, working for the queen and the king in order to pay for their taxes. They have no future apart from doing what they know since there isn’t any school available for them to study and take different careers.

Its a quiet chilly morning, only the noise of the cockerels can be heard and the birds chirping. The stage is still and there seems to be no movement from the four huts errected on stage. The huts are roofed with grass and the walls are made out of cow dung. pieces of burnt wood can be seen on the left stage with what looks like the remains of a fire place with three stones black with soot. Running footsteps can be heard coming towards the stage.
(Nyangi comes out running from one entrance)
Nyangi: Wuuuiii! He is about to commit suicide! Kujeni (Young youths get out of their huts in great haste, women screaming, lamenting
