"Knight Katirine of Tribond please step forward." The anouncer stated quizzically. I looked out at the crowd and hesitated for a moment. If I trip. If I fall. If I stutter. If I curtese wrong. If everything I was taught doesn't hold up. If. And in two heartbeats my foot moved forward and I carried my self over to the podium.
"Duke Rylan of Nezer," I bent my eyes to his feet a bowed out of habit and then three steps forward and I would be standing there waiting to begin. Waiting for a few moments so I can breathe. "Good Morning, Court of Lareth..." My words carried out and I spoke without thought. I spent too many hours in my quaters practicing. I carried out every sentence to complete clarification. They knew I had lied. They all knew I had spent years in the palace as a boy, but here I am. A woman of sorts, carrying a sword of a knight.
I was dressed squarely in pants and a loose tunic. My sword hanging at my side. It was good to be here. Yet so wrong at the same time. They looked with mixed expressions. Some with gratitude and others with outrage. My good friend Rylan smiled. He knew all along. He was the first to find out about my lie. About my secret.
I had made friends of everyone as a boy, name Karter. I knew that I would have to let my secret breathe one day. I just didn't Imagine it to occur like this.
Entry 39
My plan is in place. And soon I will be in the castle awaiting knighthood. I know the task ahead of me is going to be bumpy, but I can do it. I will do it. I have to. This is my dream and how could I survive if I can't let my dream live also. My dream is a part of me and it's going to breathe.
Daneil, my manservant, is willing to keep my secret and no one else will find out. Not until I tell them after the knighting ceremony. That is when my life and legacy will begin.
