“You know what father said about being outside when the Clock sounds.” Tulip said his arms filled with what seems like heavy boxes.
“Yeah, I know, but I’ll be fine” I frown, replying softly, my hands darting toward my bow, I look up and smile, seeing Tulip leaning against the backyard door, his arms crossed and the boxes by his feet.
“You know you’d be punished if you get caught” His lips thinned into a straight line. I smirk
“I haven’t yet, now have I?” He reaches down and picks up the boxes, turning away and giving up; he knows he can’t win against someone just as stubborn as him, it runs in our blood, the CARE. I haul my bow into its Quill, the bow and Quill my father, he made with his own hands. My father taught me how to draw a bow, to aim, and how to shoot. He said it’s just like learning how to write, I didn’t think so at the time. I was only 6.
In Colony 8 it’s required to fight, everyone is taught how to wield some sort of weapon. Whether it is a bow, pair of daggers or just basic hand combat just in case of a war.
Except this particular colony is a colony of strict rules, most think it’s for our protection and others say it’s not fair, who knows.
There are 13 colonies and each and every one of the 13 Colonies is controlled by ONE man, no one knows if he is real or not but the nickname everyone knows is The One.
The One is the savior of our humanity, or so the tale goes. Back in the dark ages, we had a war between the worlds. It was supposed to be, what the Mayans; call the ‘End of the world” or 2012, except that wasn’t exactly how it played out. Africa, Europe and China all gathered together and fought against South America and North America. Now there is not much left, only half of the world with half the people which lead to food problems. Supply and demand was at its worst. Who would have known one war can take so much and give nothing in return?
Supply shortage made people go crazy; there were more people hungry than dead. People went great lengths to get a taste of meat this was back when meat was so rare that if you had it, you were considered rich beyond compare. Despite the huge shortage of food war went on for 10 years. Hell broke loose and half the world blew up, along with the people in it thanks to the man who made the Nova Duplex Bomb which is the biggest bomb known to man. So now we are at a population of 100,000 and because of the population decreasing instead of increasing, we split them all up into separate groups, and that is how the 13 colonies were created. Don’t you ever feel like your repeating history? Dividing is never a good idea.
Pretty shitty huh, considering, it’s been over 60 years since then. You’d think in 2072 the world will be filled with robots and everything is done for you, you wish, shit hit the fan.
As I walk out of the house range, leaving behind all of the homes clustered so close together I step into a dirt path, following it up until I met face to face with what we people call “Invisible Force.” You can’t really see the wall all you can hear is a buzz of electricity. Its supposed to be some kind of joke about Star Wars, the name we gave it, even though we’ve never seen a TV or the movie series and we only heard stories that it looked like a box the TV I mean and the reason as to why we have no vivid clue is most of the electronics were destroyed in the War, we didn’t bother trying to reproduce them either, we have far more better things to do then build virtually useless technology. That’s what my father had said.
Staring at the Force, I grab a stick, walking up along the UNending line, remembering what Paul said, “’keep a distance to the sound” I kept a half a foot away, as I kept walking along the path, listening closely to the sound, waiting for the right moment I spread my feet preparing myself. ((((((((((EDITED STOPPED HERE )))))))))))))The Force is supposed to be for our protection, many people choose to ignore the fact that we are trapped in, they think of it as, the Government caring for our safety but people like me do not agree.
A soft click whispered in my ear and I smiled murmuring to myself “There it is…” and without hesitation, I rammed the stick into the Invisible Force and the whole thing cackled it sounding much like a twisting laugh I jump back startled as I stare. The wall flashes a furious red and shuts off long enough for me to through.
“Once you’ve hit the wall with the stick, and it shuts off to reboot, count to 10 and run” his voice rinvs in my ears like an echo. I counted to 10, taking one big inhale, and took off running toward the wall, the line so many people warned me not to cross.
Adrenalin kicked in. “DON’T FORGET TO JUMP!”’ Paul shouted in my memories. I jumped. Hidden fear that must have been lying in the pit of my stomach, slingshot itself into my throat hitting the right spot and a scream hurtles out of my mouth. The wall hums back to life, the air cutting off instantly on the other side and the force of the wall sent me flying into the trees, my head slamming against the root of one big Weeping Willow. Odd, why is a Weeping Willow here?
“Told you to jump” a voice said. I winced, looking up to see Paul standing over me with his arm outstretched, I scoff.
“Yaw well, I did” he let out a laugh.
Frowning, I grab his arm. “It wasn’t funny” I mutter, rubbing my head. He smiles, the kind of smile that said ‘Oh yes it was’
I roll my eyes at him, reaching for my bow behind me, and to my surprise it was still attached to my back where it belongs. Relief washed over me as I held out the bow, all my fears disappearing. I took in a deep breath, the smell of pine and wood filled my nostrils. I let out a content sigh.
“I love the woods” Paul smiles, his hand going for his own bow that was somewhere hidden under a dead tree I never found out why he hid his bow, he also pulls out a five set of homemade arrows.
The arrows seem odd though, the head of the arrow was sharper than normal and it looked like an arrow head shaped syringe, and at the tail, bright blue wire tape wrapped around the end. I blink, holding the arrow up to my face.
Readying his bow, Paul looks up.
“These are special made Arrows, and at the tip” He says, tapping the head of the arrow with his bow. “Is a deadly poison called Cyanide” I nod, rolling the arrow in my hands careful not to prick myself.
“What’s it for though?” He smiles wide as if I asked the right question.
“I’ll tell you when the time comes.” I frown, nudging him in the shoulder.
“Tell me” I say neatly and gently slipping the arrows into my quill. He shakes his head. I purse my lips into a pout.
“Fine, at least tell me how it works” and this really sets him off because, he was already setting his arrow in position.
“Watch and be amazed” He says, pointing the arrow straight out, walking a few feet away from me, I step back, assuming he needs space, he lifts his finger to his lips shushing me. I nod, as I turn my head toward where the bow is pointed and silence filled the air.
The only sound was our mixed breathing.
It seemed like we stood like that in silence forever and the first sound of movement Paul pivots, jerking his bow at the same time and releases the Arrow into the air, it dives, gliding so fast it was gone in a blink of an eye. The sound of a small body hit the floor. Paul looks back at me, and smiles.
“Go find the arrow” he says nodding his head toward the bushes where he shot the arrow and I nod, making my way over and pass Paul, hesitant I bend down and part the bushes. A small furry body lay still in the middle. I grab the arrow, pulling it out. The small body didn’t much as a flinch, the thing was completely dead. Looking back at Paul, I hold up the Arrow.
“See how good it works? Cyanide takes longer to kill than this but with the help of the arrow.” He wiggles the arrow. “The arrow causes shock to the animal, and when an animal is at shock, it makes them much more vulnerable to death.” He smiles big.
“It literally took me forever to get this bit of cyanide”
Cutting him of I say “Wait, isn’t cyanide illegal?”
Paul seems to pause.
“Well, yeah but I mean”
“AND” I point out. “If you eat an animal that died from poisoning, wouldn’t you also get poisoned as well?”
Paul turned and shook his head looking serious for a moment. “It’s not for eating, Serenity”
The colony is a strict place, and by the time he polishes his arrows and slung it back into its pouch; the sun was already going down. On cue both of us walk down the path we had taken, making sure we weren’t as close to the ‘Force’ as I was last time, and this time I let Paul do it, and like a PRO he doesn’t even have to walk up along the wall to open it, he just jams the stick in, and like always
It does its tantrum and opens. He looks at me and grins, grabbing me by the waist and lifts me up into the air.
“Paul!” I shout he lets out a laugh and jumps. I let out a soft girl squeal as I felt the wall close an inch away from us literally feeling my hair cut from the power, he cusses and loses his footing. We tumble down the hill, Paul forces me into his arms and we hit a tree, his back crushes against the large trunk taking the impact I suck in a breath and Paul lets out an OMPH sound before rolling over me. Frantic I sit up, Paul looks up at me and he breaks out in laughter.
“What?”
“We almost died” he gasps a breath “By a wall” He bends over in laughter his body shaking. Paul would so laugh at times like this!
“That- is not funny!” I try holding back my smile.
“Yes, it's freaking funny” I shake my head and break out laughing, not able to hold it in any longer.
“Yeah, it kind of was.”
By the time I get home, the clock sounded twice, and dinner is already cooking on the stove, I set my bag down on the kitchen table and lean against the cupboards watching my mom cook, her long fingers delicately holding onto a knife, cutting onions. Small pair of feet thunder down the stairs and René comes racing toward me with her Pajamas on.
“I’ve missed you so!” René yells in my ear her soft skin smelling of soap and shampoo, her small red curls bouncing around her heart shaped face her arms still clutching the same book Dad had given her the day he went away. I let out a soft laugh.
“It’s only been a full day that I haven’t seen you” Her lips turn into a pout and she folds her arms over her chest like a four year old child throwing a tantrum, laughing I set Renee down.
“Children” She whispers, her voice soft, vulnerable. I meet her eyes, or at least try to because she always looks so far away. She hasn’t been the same since the incident in the building of 105. Father was working in the building. His course was experiments’ with technology, and somewhere in the building a man accidently set a bomb off and the whole building collapsed, and all the men were smashed under the impact of the building, or blown up and the project 105 was distinguished from the board and never mentioned again. What is it like, dying, you can’t JUST die, it doesn’t work like that, it has to go through process, dying is very much like cancer…so in a way everyone has active cancer. You die from illness, disease or even old age but you never just die.
“Tada” Mom flushes, her face smiling but her eyes troubled, like she’s not really there, she never is. She took a seat at the dinner table. I scoop up some broth, and spoon it into my mouth trying to think of something. My tolerance holds up for only so long for this woman. I am not mean, it’s just after 6 years trying to nurse someone back to health who chooses to stay in their condition they've been in for so long becomes draining…I wonder what goes on in that head of hers. Does she remember? Or does she really forget her Family?
“Well today’s the 4th” Renee said her smile faltering slightly failing on trying to make a living conversation. You can’t talk to her, you can’t hug her and you can’t…love her, if you don’t want to cry…
“Yep it is” I say quietly. “Soon we will hear about the picking”
Mother fiddles with the spoon looking confused, her everyday cycle broken, and her encounter with something real; vivid. It’s the same thing every year.
Renee stays quiet looking over at me saying it’s my turn. My turn to deal with her and her innocent looks of confusion that irritates me all the more.
“Remember mom?” I whisper, failing to keep my voice from shaking with annoyance.
“When the clock sounds, they will pick over the intercom.”
“They will call out the names who won the last Choice, and then they will pick another 13 in there place.” Renee’s chimes in, saving me. Her bowl empty, small hands pushing it out of her sight, the face of displeasure. Tulip comes rushing in with a brown bag, his coat whipping around him, and the cold air hitting him in the face. He pushes the door closed.
“Did I miss it!?” Tulip says, franticly slipping his coat off. I let out a soft laugh. He’s always frantic, every year, thinking someday he will be the one chosen.
“Right on time” the room always seems to lighten up when Tulip comes home.
“Oh thank god.” He sighs in relief. “But anyways look what I brought” He waves a brown bag around, catching Renee eye of attention.
“What is it” she asks, her eyes gleaming to know. Tulip smiles again, pulling out flat almost round shaped fruit, which looked almost like a peach if it wasn’t for the odd shape.
“UFO Peaches.” Renee smiles big, her hand held out for one, something taste full, something out of the ordinary. Tulip shoves his hand into the bag and pulls out the Peach, handing it to Renee before looking at me.
“Here” he settles the bag down and grabs one more, holding out the peach to me, I grab it, hopping it from palm to palm, feeling the fine small hairs brush against my fingers.
Tulip leans against the table looking at Mother. Mother averts her eyes and he looks down. I get up, scooping his helping of food into a bowl.
“Here” I hand him the bowl and the intercom clicks, the room filling with a woman voice, high and screechy.
Ladies and gentlemen, it is time for the choosing of the year! It is none other than the 60th year of Choice. Today we have ATRUM here who had won the 57th choice and gave his colony immunity! Here is the winner!
If it wasn’t for the choice, I guess there would be chaos, it keeps us in line, there was a pause and the Mic muffled out and bits of pieces of conversation that were on and off. Letting what’s left of the world listen. NO I DON’T WANT TO. Pause. You have too! Pause. It’s part of your agreement!
Then they were on air again, the voice replaced with a man voice hard and rigid speaking the words with so much force it's straining to your ears to listen.
Hello my name is Atrum, and I am from Colony 3 here to announce the choice awards.

Last but not least Serenity Care from Colony 8.
Tulip chokes on his soup, his bowl falling to the floor and Renee smiles big throwing her arms into the air.
“Oh Serenity you got into the Choosing!” Mom looks towards me her expression hinted with twisted remembrance and fear and then hits the floor her body clattering along with the wooden chair…Renee screams. Tulip jumps up, knocking his chair down, the peaches falling to the floor, I jerk out of my seat falling pursuit and everything flashes. Odd, when everything repeats itself over it gives you an odd sensation. Before I know it my hand was on the Emergency button that all homes have. Tulips hand grips mine and jerks my hand back from slamming down onto the button out of panic.
“Don’t” he whispers pulling me away. I blink confused.
“Why?” He just shakes his head. When it comes down to it, life depends on a box a small round box and it's your choice whether you want to bring down your freedom because once they know, they will always know.
“Let’s just get her to bed” Hesitant I let my hand fall to my side and without another word, Tulip bends down and scoops Mother up into his arms, cradling her close to his chest. I notice mother's weight and how much she has lost. Her eyes open suddenly and my attention goes back to her face rather than her body, he goes rigid like a stone with stillness.
Her eyes search around the room, but her head stood still. Her mouth began to move and a whisper slips from her lips.
“Kina..?” her voice echoes.
Our family curse breaks and Tulips eyes grew as he snaps his head up, jerking his eyes from Mother.
“Yes. Ellen” Tulip whispers, playing the role of a man that’s no longer here. I look away, not wanting to watch anymore. Tulip hugs Mother to his chest. Anyone else would see a man holding his mother, but I see the things everyone else chooses to ignore, I see my brother dying a little more inside. Mother smiles, a smile that is the unbidden truth.
“Come Ellen. Let’s get you to bed.” walking slowly, Tulip walks out of the room, closing the door behind him. Renee stares out, into nothing, seeing beyond the door. Soft sobs come from the room. She looks at me saying nothing.
“Re-“I try. She shrugs me off, opening her book and then she’s gone, gone to her own little world where there is no pain.
The sun blazes through the flowered drapes that cover the windows. It casted a soft halo like beam over Renee and I. I squint, blinking, waiting for the world to go into focus again. Renee stirs under the blanket, her red curls fluffed around her and her arms tightly secured to my arm and her book. Salty tear streaks stained her small flushed cheeks.
I frown, the memories crashing in like symphony. Sitting up, I spot Tulip hunched over in one of the kitchen chairs. He must have fallen asleep. I struggle to get my arm free from Renee successfully without waking her. It took a couple frustrated sighs until my arm was out of her grasp. I looked down to see Renee still sound asleep. I sigh in relief. The room was a one bedroom and bathroom hutch. Mom has her own room and the rest of us share the living room and kitchen with everyone else
“You’re awake”
I turn to see Tulips voice his eyes open now and his body straightened in the chair.
“You are too as it seems”
A smile between a wince and a frown slips on his face before he gets up and turns on the stove, remembering just as I do.
“Breakfast?”
“That sounds good” I cover Renee with the quilt that must have been put on us while we were sleeping and got up. I walk over to the fridge getting out a carton of eggs. Tulip reaches up and grabs down a bowl and hands it to me, I took it, cracking the eggs, and we worked in silence. The only sound was our hands cooking.
One hour and 30 minutes a breakfast buffet was laid out on the dinner table. Pancakes, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages and milk, all together.
“Take a seat, I’ll wake Renee” Tulip set the last plate down, motioning me to sit. Taking a seat, I watched Tulip kneel down and whisper sweet and silent good mornings in her ear. Renee stirs once more. Her eyes finally fluttering open, she looks up at Tulip and hold out her arms. Tulip let out a laugh and scoops her up.
“You are too old” He whispers, swinging her in his arms. I smile resting my chin on my hands.
“Ok guys, let’s eat” I interrupt, both Tulip and Renee walk to their seats with smiles on their faces, as if yesterday never happened, which it did obviously.
There is a knock on the door and I was in the pursuit to catch it until Tulip stops me. Usually I get the door...
“I got this.” I nod and sit back down, returning my attention back the buffet that lay in front of me.
“You go first” Renee smiles and grabs a paper plate plopping all sorts of food in one big pile. She’s always odd about food. She can eat anything really.
There was a hissed voice and Tulip returns with his hands behind his back and two large men behind him one bold, buff and black and the other Skinny and white his eyes serious and transfix on mine, but I wouldn’t doubt his skills... I jerk up. Renee turns and stares wide eyed.
“What, what’s going on?” Tulip looks down and shuffles uncomfortably.
The tall black spoke first. “We need to take you back Now” It wasn’t a question. It was a command.
“First.” I say, carefully measuring my voice to a calm commanding like tone. “I’d like you to sit down” JESUS GOD WHY ARE THESE MEN HERE? I motion them to take a seat around the table. “It would be respectful” I nod to Tulip.
They look at each other then back at me.
“After that, I’d like to finish eating and we can talk about this.” It was hard to keep my voice from a high pitched sound to a calm measuring tone when there are two huge men standing in your hallway!
They stood there awkwardly and finally let go of Tulip.
“Thank you” I felt relief rush in. “Grab a plate. Eat, make yourself at home” They nod, their face still serious. They all grab a seat; I fill my plate and set it down to look at them. “Tell me who you are” I pick up my fork and stab my sausage, forking it into my mouth. They again look at each other and back at me.
“Well?” The tall man goes for a plate until the black one smack his hand in disapproval. I shoot him a glare and He speaks first. “My name is Riley” I turn to the tall skinny one.
“Auden” I nod. “Well then Riley and Auden, who do you guys, work for and what right do you have standing in my house?” My voice became fiercer and I start feeling the power of what they call confidence.
“We work for the Disney” I stare at them in shock. So they are the Choosing? “So you’re the escorts for the Choosing?” They nod.
“I see.” I look down at my food, forking another helping into my mouth before setting it down and patting my mouth with a napkin.
Disney is the name of the government and there are people who work under their control, Disney OWNS everything. Who would have known a cartoon channel on TV would turn into the massive wall of government. Some say they even own us, which they probably do considering we live like animals except if our district wins I just got lucky, being born in a rich colony that one immunity 6 times in a row since I’ve been born but things aren't as neat it just comes a little bit easier than the other.
Renee who was quiet the whole time scooted out of her chair and got up. All eyes are set on her. She nods her head to Auden and turns to Riley
“Take care of my Sister” his face seems to soften and he crouches down patting her head.
“I’ll do what it takes to keep her alive ” Renee who doesn’t know much of the world smiles and hands him her book the book she never let anyone else touch.
“You give this to my sissy, it will protect her.” He smiles and takes the book with a nod.
“I’ll make sure it will go to her as soon as we arrive.” Then with a look behind her shoulder she looks at me, smiles and leaves the room, hollering over her small petite shoulder.
“Got to wake mommy-“
Renee ended up bumping into a man, who stood in the hallway, he stood in a careless kind of way which made me shiver. He didn’t as much as a glance toward my sister, my sister hurried away. He’s dangerous and extremely beautiful almost unearthly. The type of beauty that is unrealistic. His chin is perfectly chiseled between a strong sharp chin to soft and slender cheekbones giving him a young and bold look unlike her brother who has all sharp features making him look much like a mountain man with a 6 pack.
“Go grab the girl’s things” The man commands, his voice far too familiar. The men turn and walk past the strange man standing in my hallway. The only people left in the room are me, tulip and a man.
“Who are you?” Tulip says, taking me behind him and separating that man from me with his body.
“I am your suitor and instructor for this year's choosing...” He smiles big, walking over to the table and sitting down, helping himself to the food. He even crossed his legs. His clothes are of high quality a suit to match his personality fierce and dangerous
“Well isn’t that nice…” Tulip mutters under his breath, relaxing.
“Man guys, you cook good food” The man mumbles with a mouth full of food. Eck…maybe he's not that mystical.
“Thanks…what is your name?”
“Atrium” He waves his fork, still stuffing his quit sharp handsome face.
The men return with almost everything that’s in my room. I blink.
Riley looks at me and asks, “You want your bed too?”
“I don’t think so, she won't be needing her bed, there are plenty of beds where we are going” Auden says and Atrium nods finishing half of the food on the table.
He burps and leans back in the chair as if he lives here. Yep definitely not mystical or other worldly
“So when do you want to head out?” Atrium asks, picking his teeth.
“Well…whenever?” Tulip looks down at his food and frowns.
“My food…” he whispers tragically.
“AH great, we will leave Right now.” He gets up striding toward the front door and passes Riley and Auden.
“Come along” he motions with his hands to follow him. I let out a sigh and turn towards Tulip. Tulip looks down.
“Hey, I’ll miss you” I whisper he mumbles something under his breath. Smiling I lean in and kiss him on the forehead, he blushes.
“I will miss you so much” Arms go around me, startled I hesitantly wrap my arms around him slowly embracing him. I’m so proud of you…. I must have been talking out loud because he gazes down at me, with big loving eyes, identical eyes…. Brown big and glowing , thick eyelashed eyes
“What?” I ask He shakes his head. Warm spots hit my shoulder.
“Nothing” he releases me and pushes me away from him giving me no chance to look back.
“Go, give our colony immunity…” Before I could say anything else, Riley and Auden appear in front of me hustling me to go. Looking back and his back facing me, his hands filled with left behind plates. …Typical
A helicopter stood in my driveway sitting there, like it’s been there its whole medal interior life.
“Ohm, are we riding that?” Looking up Auden smiles big and holds a thumbs up.
I gawk at him for a moment.
“Get in, make yourself comfy.” Atrium says coolly, his arms darting out and pushing me into the helicopter.
“DUDE” He chuckles and climbs in, taking a seat next to me, while Auden and Riley sit in the front. Riley started up the Helicopter, while Auden hollers to us in the back.
“BUCKLE UP” Trying to find my buckle, I let out a frustrated huff. Atriums hands go over mine and guide my hands on to how to buckle the dang thing. I smile giving him a thank you of a nod.
As we took flight into the air, Mother stands there watching us with weary eyes. I chew on my lip getting a sudden chill of uncertainty and instantly brush it away when I look towards Atrium I smile but it’s suddenly falls away when he looks at me seriously with a frown.
“What...” I begin to say, he shakes his head disappointedly, at him or me? Something shined in his left hand. It looked pointy, I gasp and before I could move there was a prick in my arm and the world begins to tilt. At him...”Why did you do that?” I manage to say.
“So we know you won’t run away, and find out where you are…” His voice fades into white noise and I blink hard, trying to keep conscious but hands go around me and a blindfold is tied to my face, making it so much harder to keep it together.
With my last bit of brain function I mumble, “now you gave me a reason to do just that…” and just like that the lights went out and I was pulled into an unconscious sleep.
I woke up in a gasp, sitting straight up. I grab my chest. Where the hell am I? I look around the room confused. The room was completely white and smells like a hospital room that was recently sterilized I look around to find another bed in the corner of the room with a bathroom and a mini fridge. The room was silent, the buzzing kind of silent. What hap- I REMEMBER! He did this…I look down to find myself in a pair of striped Pajamas, gray and white. “It matches perfectly with the room” I whisper to myself sarcastically before sliding of the bed. The white tiled floor stung my feet with cold. I tiptoe to the bathroom to go pee. The bathroom was like any ordinary bathroom, nothing- opening the curtain there laid the biggest bathtub in the world. Staring in awe, I turn remembering I have to pee.
Seconds later I stand in front of the sink, washing my hands to find myself with no soup. UGH. Looking up I find myself staring at my reflection. What the hell…
Touching my face I feel the smooth skin under my fingers and then I look at my hands. This is not my face…these are not my hands… I begin to panic. Tarring at my clothes, no, these are not my clothes, this is not my face, this is not my body…NONE OF THIS IS REAL, suddenly, my hands no some else’s hands go down on the mirror, cracking it and shattering it under some else’s hands. I scream over and over again, clawing at the body that’s not mine, at the skin that’s to white to mine, at the face that’s too perfect to ever be me. Alarms go off and the men in white come running in.
“SHH calm down Serenity calm!” They keep telling me but I keep screaming, lashing, scratching and hitting. fighting them.
“GIVE ME MY BODY BACK GIVE IT BACK!” The men hold me down, picking me up and strapping me down onto the bed.
“Give it back!” I scream. The men finally stop and they step back. I inhale ready to scream again until I look out the open door, a girl stands there, in normal everyday clothes shaking her head in disapproval and then others stand there gawking. For the first time in my life I feel stripped of my skin and my soul.
“Did you sate her?” A mans voice booms.
“No” One man says, standing straight and saluting the person I can’t see,
“Humph, I see.” A hand grabs my chin and I finally see who it is, it’s a plump old man, wearing a white long coat with a beard. I try to jerk my chin away but his chubby fingers dig into the skin that’s not mine. I begin to scream again, something similar to a banshee. His hand goes down on my neck and something sharp pierces the skin. The body that doesn’t belong to me begins to numb and I go limp in the restraints and in his hands.
“Ah now that’s better.” The world begins to blur and the man turns to the men in white.
“Did she ruin her new body?” The men I think shook their head.
“Ah. Good…good.”
“We need to operate on her some more…” the last words stick to my brain as the rest fades out into white noise and once again am I sucked into a black hole.
Comment by the Autor: I finally updated this book after so many years, and I have changed it quite a bit. I got the inspiration from the Hunger Games and while I was reading back on this book I realized that this was way too similiar in regards to how it was coming out, so the begning of this story may feel very much at home but it is actually very different. I am implanting and focusing on a few problems that we still have to this day and if you are smart enough to catch them comment bellow ;). So far we have two social and economic problems secretly listed here that the main character will struggle wih fallowed by a few more. I do hope you enjoy this story as I am enjoying writing it for you.

I dedicate this book to three dear people; Brooks, with your support and your "You can do whatever it is that makes you happy" mentality and then there is my dear old granny, with her words "Excellent" and her cheering me on. Last but no least Papa, my hero...of all things magical.
