introduction
The cat is very composed animal, and a lot of cat owners will say that it is independence that will make the cat a typical comfortable companion in and around the home.
Cats will not demand attention like dogs do, many cats wont make any great effort to get your approval they will often have to wait for you to go to them rather than run round trying to catch your attention.
Things do suggest that cats are a very easy going animal who are polite and self-possessed but its not easy to train a cat.
If your cat or you don't see eye to eye over a certain matter of behavior, you may have a very hard time getting the cat to do things for you.
However, its not the end of the world. It's not completely impossible to get your cat to change its ways. Its nay on Possible to get a cat to be like a human being, thinking that a cat is like a person but you can get over that and improve the cats behavior in different ways.

Chapter 1 How To Get Your Cat To Change Its Ways
Do you want to know how you can train your cat? believe it or not ,but it can be the simple thing you need to but do it on feline terms.
In this book, up to this point is Background information, created to help you see everything from your cat's world, which is very important for training. You will be able to train your cat to jump through hoops or roll over on instruction.
But more important is teaching him to stay within the boundaries of your home and getting the cat to behave in public.
It would be best to make a training plan to get your cat to have good manners, which can be anything from doing normal and natural cat things in the appropriate place, and at the right time, that will satisfies you and other cats.
This will find a middle ground -- so that you teach the cat the best you can in order so you can live with and abide to it.
Stopping bad habits in its tracks. Behavior problems you have with your cat may not be prevention in the early days. Its just pity the kitten is only is sweet until it reaches twelve weeks old. Kittens who play with your bare hand in months to come, when the kitten gets a full set of teeth that sinks into your wrist in which the kitten will carry on doing what you taught it to do.
The best rule of thumb is to follow common sense, And don’t encourage behavior that you will not want to see later on, and stop any behavior that you never want to see happening.
Your cat's behavior is very important to understand and that some of the cats behaviors can't be ignored completely. You can only teach what you accept that is socially acceptable in your household. This is also known as behavior modification.
A common behavior is scratching. Yes scratching is a behavior for which many cats can be dewclaw for. Losing their claws may be a solution but can be very painful for the cat.
Its not always the cats fault, it has not been taught, in a way to behave toward an acceptable object. such as a properly constructed scratching post, while other things like, wallpaper doors furniture and clothes.
6
Chapter 2 Unpleasant Or Difficult
The best solution for which will last longer, and common sense is the way to discipline your cat. Early discipline is a positive action. Using a different method will be a negative action, punishing the cat for expressing a particular behavior in a way you have trained the cat.
When the cat starts to scratch furniture, you would have to follow the cat around your home 24 hours a day and discipline him when the cat exercises the claw to upholstery, however scratching is a reaction and can't be stopped really, this method is heading to fail anyway.
Praising and stroking the cat when it uses the post, teaching minor corrections and not punishing it when you have caught it in the act of scratching elsewhere as this will help to modify the behavior.
You cant think that every cat will be the same, as they will not behave the same, but can be taught the same. Every individual cat is unique, which means every individual cat's behavior is unique.
Most likely that you will need to adapt some rules to fit into your own cat's personality and the circumstances of your home.
You have the basic tools you need to teach your cat. Lets start looking at some other specific things in the next chapter with cats.

Chapter 3 Understanding Your Cats Body Language
The tail of a cat and and dog gives a lot of messages to other cats and dogs and also the owner, how do you know your cats mood? simply by the way they move their tail, however all cats wont be the same and different movements, may mean different factors being in a different environment can change how they react.
Here are a few examples
1, Tail bent a touch downwards and then rolled at the tip looking like an S shape cat is very happy and content.
2, Tail is straight and not ridged and has a rolled top looking like a ? mark cat is pleasant and friendly.
3, Tail is still but the end is twitching, cat will get very agitated, the more the tail twitches the more angry the cat will get. Be careful when you push a cat more and more then it will start showing this twitching tail may get very aggressive.
4, Tail is straight and wobbling, the cat is really showing you affection.
5 When the tail is moving from one side to the other like an s shape again the cat will get very angry.
6, When the tail is straight and the hair is standing up on edge this will be shown towards another cat is normal do not approach when this happens.
8
7, When you see the tail is twisted like an n shape and hair is sticking up on edge like the previous example this cat is ready to fight. Also if the cat is tip toed or standing sideways this will also mean its ready for a battle.
8, When you see the tail between the legs the cat has had enough of being frightened and throws the towel in.
9, If you see the tail not rolled but lifted a touch and the hair blown out the cat will be In a playful mood and wants to be chased.
10, If you have a female cat when her backside is in the air and the tail held to one side the cat is in a flirting mood and on heat waiting to mate.
9
Chapter 4 The Cats Ears Body Language
1, Once the ears on each side are down like an o shape and the pupils of the eyes are small this will mean the cat is playful and intrigued.
2, Once the cats both ears are pulled back and low the cat is getting angry and will be ready to fight.
3, If you get one ear to the side and the other pushed in front its waiting stance but calm.
4, Once the cats both ears are pointing ahead it will be alert to a disturbing noise.
The eyes body language
Small pupils in a playful and in extremely small nasty streak.
The whiskers body language
Whiskers will be spread to each side of the face. when a cat is on edge the whiskers moves in the direction of the ears.
Body language, of the Legs, head, and body
Legs,
When the cat is stressed the front legs will be followed by the back legs in a Stuttering manner.
10
Head,
Once you see the cat with its head in a lowed position its ready to pounce or give up.
Arched body,
Look out the cat is ready to battle and defend itself.
There are different aggression factors that will be common in cats that are playful and aggressive so lets try to combat them together.
By nature cats are predators based on instinct and will never ever change it is the nature of the animal its in the breed and it cant be changed.
The cat was created to have pointed claws and sharp teeth for a reason to attack and defend themselves all cats will pounce and stalk.
You will find some cats will just attack feet for the sake of it even when their owners are asleep and small animals like mice rats birds.
Cats love to wonder, pounce on anything that moves, and touch small objects that they kind of pretend to be prey.
You will see this in a lot of young small kittens in their early years of training, you will also find that a lot of older cats will hunt in a playful way.
Kittens start to learn the rules of whats right and whats wrong up to 13 weeks old.
And will often play and fight each other, the limit of biting and scratching will be learned quickly.
When it gets too rough with the little ones you will see them bite back to stop other kittens getting on top this will not encourage then be used to attack their owners however the kitten wont see they are behaving wrong and it will feel natural.
What Are The Signs
You will see in the cat when its play aggression in their body language you may see them crouch put their ears in a flat position their pupils dilate and their tail moving from side to side while they stand aggressively and ready to pounce on the owner before doing so the backside may swivel to show playful.
11
Whats The Solution
Stop the kitten getting into a routine of stalking you, and when you notice the kittens body language distract it with a ball or a toy, or even a string hanging of a piece of stick like a fishing rod pull the rod along the floor and get the kitten to chase it.
Don’t let the kitten jump on you, if you start to run this will encourage it even more to fight back, or make sharp movements don’t learn hand play you will only learn the kitten to stalk you more as they think you will be getting playful with them.
Don’t allow any rough play with the kitten and a human at all this includes members of your family and if this happens play dead when the kitten attacks you and don’t make a move this will get them to lose interest in you and walk off if this happens grab a toy for the kitten to play with.
When you stroke your kitten and they just bite you raise your finger and say a !firm no! walk away and ignore the kitten completely the kitten will know that they have done wrong.
If this wont work rattle a jar or container this may encourage the kitten to stop. Caution doing this to loud may make the kitten jumpy and on edge, however
i’ve never had to restore to this method as the calmer method always works better.
Do not get into the habit of punishing your kitten show good play at all times encourage it with verbal tones telling it your a good boy yes you are or a girl or a good kitten.
Hissing at the kitten works if its a girl with your mouth if it isn't working quick enough get oxygen in your mouth and inhale quickly sucking the air back with bare teeth this with make a noise to get a distraction from the kitten to stop what its doing. It may back off and sulk for a while but it will remember what he did wrong.
Some folk may suggest to you to do things the old way by placing your cat or kitten into an empty room or an out building for punishment and to take time out if this works great, however this can mentally disturb the cat or kitten resulting in anxiety problems.
12
Aggression Based On Territory
Cats are one animal which will always guard their territory they will even be more guarding their territory than dogs will.
Cats will hunt in their own territory and not any further cats can be seen as indoor or outdoor cats. The aggression territory mainly starts when they reach 18 months old you may find the aggression territory to be found in kittens also.
Cats that are seen as outdoor cats will be very territorial to the boundaries of the home. If they spot another cat or a dog or even a bird or another animal for that matter in their territory they will get very upset in this case, your kitten or cat may change its aggression out on their owners or other pets. This same thing can occurs with indoor cats.
What are the signs
When aggression due to territory occurs kitten and cats can hiss spit and start to growl to warn other animals off. Its been known that cat owners have been attacked by their own cat, normally in this situation the cat will only attack the hind quarters of the other cat. Open wounds can occur on legs and tail of the more submissive cat, and on the face nose and neck area of the aggressor.
The aggression is different when it comes to indoor cats, several cat households can feel at ease with cats sharing each others territories at different times of the day. This can be upsetting by a number of things when the cat owner starts moving household furniture about, moving a new sofa about in a room or even moving cat trees. Adding a new cat or kitten to a household will also upset the apple cart.
It will be more difficult spotting this in the home, an aggressive and more forward cat will guard favored places and objects by showing an intent to growl and threaten or attack the other cat or person.
Territory based aggression can be spotted when a cat gets stressed a lot and you can spot this by cats walking round with toys in their mouth, spraying urine to mark their territory.
13
What’s The Solution
Any house hold with more than 1 cat will need a litter tray each plus a spare one and placed in different areas of the home. Cats will not want to share eating bowls or water bowl areas. Every cat will need its own food and water bowl plus its own eating space.
Make sure all your cats have their own territory to relax and chill out by using baskets behind sofas, or under a table, under neath radiators, on top of beds and underneath beds.
Use colored toys red toys for one cat blue for another yellow for another don’t pick one cats toy up and try to play with another only play with the right colored toy with the correct cat. Never mix, and let cats to access high up areas like cabinets and shelves.
If you bring a new cat to a home, keep it in one room to start with don’t stop the other cats to smell under the door, spend as much time as you can with the new cat and let the older cats to get used to the scent of the new cat on your clothes.
After some time make the new cats area longer and place the old cat to sleep in a different room. put the new cat in another room and make sure the doors are closed letting the new cat to smell this area and where the old cats been.
Then change the cats over allowing the older cat into the new cats room. Don’t kid yourself if you think that placing a new cat straight into your home and expect things to be perfect, slow introduction period must be done first and plenty of patients.
Stop Aggression Against Humans
Letting a kitten go when its too young and not handled properly. Stroked and socialized with other cats and humans between week 5 and 13 of age the cats can be fearful, shy, wary of new people, easily frightened and upset, cats get frightened can be seen as an aggressive cat, but its just frightened and not an aggressive cat at all.
14
How To Spot The Signs
When cats get frightened and uptight. They will lay their ears back and crouch the tail and roll inward, and they turn their bodies away from the threat. If needed they will lash out and claw or bite anything that comes near them.
The cat will show you how its feeling by the way it walks if the cat has a ridged upright tail with the back right leg and front right leg has moved all at the same time.
If the cat is very stressed indeed. This behavior often occurs in a new surrounding or a Person that is a stranger to them the cat will show its anger before he attacks you by hissing and showing their teeth. The cats fur will stand up their back and they will raise their tail up vertical.
Whats The Solution
Handling a kitten at a very young age is very important and socialized with other cats And humans. From an early age touching them everywhere until it gets content and Relaxed.
Once it starts purring and if you give the cat a favorite healthy treat on the floor by you then the socialization has began once the cat starts to eat the treats stroke it on the head and cheeks don’t just jump or move in a sharp manner slowly rub the cats back and tail talking to the cat at the same time.
Watch for the signs of agitating from the cat once it stops purring or the tail starts to make slow movements, if you spot this stop what you are doing and leave the cat alone to chill again. Once the kitten allows you to stroke them give them treats this Will feel natural to the cat and the cat with warm to you and be calm.
Allow your kitten to be stroked by different people of different race build size young And old. Socializing will help to get the kitten use to be calm around different People.
Older cats can be hard to solve fear aggression, but with patients and time this can be accomplished. Older cats have a built in fear into their personality, with older cats they will have fear aggression don’t ever approach it.
The cat terms always come first so allow the approach from the cat, reward the cat by giving treats when it approach you. Encourage the cat to do so again without fear, small steps are needed when the cat approaches you slowly raise your hand towards the cat so it can get your smell.
15
The cat will allow you to stroke it if you give it treats it will learn to trust you so Encourage it to come to you don’t push your luck if the cat is showing signs of hostility or agitation stop what you were doing and let the cat to start relaxing again.
Redirected Aggression
This will happen when the cat smells a strange animal or person in his territory that it isn’t used to it, this will upset the cat and when this happens the cat will take it out on the owner not the predator. If it has not occurred before this can break the bond between the owner and the cat.
How to deal with this
Find out how this happened and put a stop to it straight away. If its stray or neighbors cat, shut the blinds so your cat cant see it if the cat turns on you, leave the cat to calm down and never shout or be nasty to the cat. Don’t punish the cat it will only make things worse towards you. Once the cat is calm reward it with treats and play, also be playful and make it feel wanted.
Stop the bite when you stroke it
If the cat seems happy for you to stroke. Then the next thing they turn around and bite you, does the cat purr pretend its being friendly them bites you the cat will forgets about being nice. With its short attention span this is what the cat is warning you if You go to far, whats pleasurable and whats annoying if you have touched a sensitive Part of its body some may dig their teeth into you but 5 minutes before was more than happy with a bit of play.
Whats The Solution
If you are holding your cat and stroking it once you get a sign of the cat having enough release the cat, at that point which its telling you its had enough stroking, are you getting close to your cats tolerance or restlessness tail twitching, flattened ears, twitching ears and a tendency to move its head toward your hand. one can attempt to desensitize these cats by feeding them with a tasty treat just before you think they might attack and move away.
16
Territory Dominance Relating To Aggression
You may find that some cats may treat their owner like another cat and attempt to rule them. The cat may growl or hiss or spit when you join them on the sofa or attempt to move them they will try to block your way and show the signs of aggression such as tail wiggling, dilated pupils, low ears, and hissing and spitting.
Whats the solution
Start to Ignore the cat do not give in and show him any attention, stop all treats and Stroking until the cat has really calmed down, no contact is a good solution to this aggression. Don't give in and keep stopping the cats treats when its being aggressive this will teach the cat not to bully you when it wants food.
None recognition aggression
This is very normal when in a multi cat household if you are about to take one of the cats to the vet. The rest of cats that normally show some kind of aggression to the one that has been to the vet. This is because it has returned home with a different scent. The cats remaining in the household do not recognize the unfamiliar smell so they think that a new cat is intruding into their territory.
Whats the solution
When you take one of the cats to the vet make sure all the cats go in different carriers once you return home place the cats side by side in the carriers for an hour giving each cat a bowl of the same food a good tuna and leave them out once they finish and no contact again this will help the cats get use to any strange sense.
Aggression medical based
You may find that your cat wont come under any category above they may growl and hiss when you leave them outside, or give them food or just touch any certain part of the body. If this happens go to the vets straight away so it can to be checked out, the cat may be ill, however cats are strong creatures and don’t show any pain. Get the vet to do a good check on the cat and an x-ray to rule out any health problems.
You may find that your cat wont come under any category above they may growl and hiss when you leave them out side or give them food or just touch certain part of the body. If this happens go to the vets straight away to be checked out the cat may be ill.
17
Cats are strong creatures and don’t show any pain. get your vet to do a good check on the cat and an x-ray to rule out any health problems. Cats with a high fever show signs of aggression and irritable cats behavior, but can also be down to their diet.
Some kind of foods have cereals and grains that in rare incidences can cause different behavior problems. Check with your vet also don’t be alarmed but some cat aggression can not be fixed it is purely down to the genes that they have been given, this is also rare but it can happen.
Cats soiling problems
I’m not sure if you knew but placing a new litter tray in the home can cause major issues regarding the cat using the new litter tray?
And more to the point cats will hate change, cats are very picky where they do their business. Especially when it smells and the feeling on their feet how quick their urine gets disintegrate and this is a big important issue for the cat.
Even if the cat is doing well with scented litter, don’t use it, a lot of cats wont just like anything that is not real, scented with perfume or flowers it may be good smell to you but the pleasant aroma of the litter won't make no difference if your sofa smells like wee!
18
Chapter 5 Changing Cats Litter
Purchase a brand new litter tray you can use a large plastic storage container like better aware or tub aware and place the new litter in the brand new tray. then remember to put the new box along side the old one .
When the cat begins to use the new litter tray that you have put down. You can begin to switch the trays around. If you see that the cat starts to use the new one once or twice but uses the old one more frequently do not change the litter over! your cat may not want to use it.
If you hear what other folk think whats best to do with changing your cats litter but personally i think its a bad move.
They will say to lightly mix the litter from the old one to the new one until its complete but cats are very intelligent creatures and they are not stupid.
Here's why that is a very bad move:
If the cat wont like the new litter, they may accept it at first having a little bit of it in their litter tray, when its reached half and half with the other litter, the cat will just refuse to use the litter tray – and when this happens and there are no other way to do their business you be left with cleaning the carpet.
If the old litter is the same or similar to the new one the idea may work however, it could be a simple thing as a hit and miss method, the cat might not care and just starts using the new one but if you get it so wrong, then the cat won't be using any litter tray and just use the floor as there won't be an alternative.
What I would recommend you mix the new and old one together in stages until Its all transferred over rather than change to a new one, until you are happy that the cat will start using the new litter.
The simple reason for this is that the cat wont like a change of litter one bit even when it was placed next to the old one as cats are so fussy but mixing it in stages may not put the cat off so much than a new litter.
Another thing to consider is if you have been using bin liners over the tray under the Litter get rid of them as cats wont like them as claws can get stuck when they start to dig and they make a noise also.
Also liners for the litter tray will actually make the litter tray smell even worse when You get little puddles of urine will end up in the creases of the liner.
19
Chapter 6 Stopping Cats From Peeing & Pooping On The Carpet
Are you at your wits end trying to stop your cat doing its business outside of the litter tray frustrated but nothing you do seems to be working?
Is your cat doing things to annoy you misbehaving for attention or trying to get back at you have you done something that has annoyed your cat or is it doing it out of Spite?
Finding the solution to the litter tray problem can be very tough indeed, if you were given the correct lessons you would be able to solve your cat's inappropriate litter problem, instead of being at war with you cat you can have fun with your pet again.
That’s not all, you will have peace of mind knowing if the problem appears again you will have the solution to deal with it.
The best thing is that although you may feel like your cat is behaving out of spite
towards you".
Very sensitive creatures cats are, even more so when it comes to where they decide to deposit, out In the wild, cats will always conceal their scent from predators.

Chapter 7 Solving Cats Litter Tray Antics
1) The very first step you must do is remembering how it started, with this you will be able to take the right steps toward to solving it. This is the hardest part, it takes a slight bit of detective work, but you will know what you are look for.
Before you think of doing anything else, take your cat to visit the vet and rule out any problems like UTI Urinary Tract Infection. this is the no1 cause of litter tray avoidance problems.
2) The next step to do is create an environment where the cat has only few appealing options for dirtying anywhere else other than the litter tray, this will restricting access to the areas where the cat has been pooping&peeing inappropriately.
3) The next step is finding that solution to what had caused the problem in the first place, if it had started because the cat was in stress, a number of things will have had to happen to calm the cats stress and make it feel safe doing its business in the litter tray.
Has there anything you can think of that has changed, that the cat wasn’t happy about In its life for it to behave in this manner.
As i mentioned earlier regarding a new purchase of a litter tray? moving the litter tray can put the cat under stress? have you just moved to a new home? have you changed your supplier of litter? has the cat got frightened while its been in the litter tray?
Have you also noticed this behavior starting when the cat was declawed or neutered? have you brought a new dog or cat into the household? have you recently had any children or have they ever bothered the cat while it is using the litter tray?
As you have learned cats can be very sensitive creatures and with any change in their routine or environment this can cause behavior like a litter tray problem like this.
During the past years I’ve seen a load of different situations that have caused cats not to use the litter tray like toddlers watching them while they're peeing, to having a painful bowel movement in the tray.
The cat may think its associating the pain they are getting is with the litter tray the cat may think the tray is causing the Pain, even moving to a new house, other surrounding cats can intimidating it, stress/anxiety, even having surgery at the Veterinary clinic.
21
You may be surprised to know but pooping outside the litter tray is quite common and can often happen when a cat has had maybe painful movements of the bowel,
and the cat may have had the pain while it was in the litter tray and may now
become afraid to use the litter tray to do its business.
Tracing back to the problem which can be commonly be one of the following three things.
1- Fear
2- Pain
3- Stress
Another thing you may consider, is the litter tray two small if so this can result in the cat poops just outside of the litter tray, this may happen so the cat will stand inside the litter box, but then their backside hangs over the edge getting an extra large tray or replacing it with a rubber maid under bed storage container may solves this problem.
The idea is to make the litter tray the most appealing option to the cat, and making other areas unappealing and restricting access to any area your cat has been Inappropriately peeing.
You may need to keep all clothes off the floor, close all closet doors, bedroom doors Shut, stopping the cat going on the counters, and the furniture, and making sure your Cat has very few options for doing its business anywhere other than the litter tray.
At one point you may have thought that something has caused your cat to think that the litter tray is not the most appealing or safest place to do its business in peace.
This may be a traumatic experience for your cat having some part of its environment suddenly change, another cat or small toddler that bothers or intimidates your cat can cause the most uninvited stress.
Solving the reason why the cat is behavior in this way. How it started is the most important thing you need to do toward solving it. Think back very carefully about Something that may have changed at the time, or near the time the cat started behaving this way.
Once you've pinpointed that, you will be able to take the necessary steps to solve the Problem a lot quicker.
22
Do these action steps
1) Block the access to anywhere the cat has been pooping & peeing inappropriately. also block access to the areas they might have done their business in the past.
My advice is making things as simple as best you can start to create an environment where the litter tray truly 100% an appealing option for your cat.
In other words, if your cat has been peeing on soft surfaces such as pillows, rugs, blankets towels, making sure the new environment you have chosen has no soft surfaces around for them to choose over the litter tray.
2) Make sure you really clean all areas that the cat has pooped or urinated with a very strong, effective cleaner and odor remover. It will be a good Idea to get a small black light so you can see every single area where the cat has been urinating.
3) Find out the reason why the cat started this behavior.
4) Put the proper steps in place to solve the problem.
23
Chapter 8 How To Deal With Cats That Spray
Several practical methods can be done here however as urine spray is a specific problem and not uncommon with cats, of this kind of behavior and warrants its entry in this book.
You will come across this kind of behavior mostly with an neutered young adult male cats,
Any cat can display it, this spraying behavior is shown when the cat backs up to a Straight surface with his tail up and relieves urine, the cat may then tread with his hind feet, and there's a tell tale wobbling of the tail cats will sometimes show this kind of behavior without Spraying any urine. the main purpose of the cat spraying his urine is to mark territory.
However, male cats that are neutered before they reach full maturity usually by the age of six or seven months are much less likely to start spraying, once an intact male cat begins spraying, the habit will be very tough to break and Even after he's not been neutered. Do not bank on successfully correcting urine spraying if the cat is not neutered.
Decrease the stress, with spraying it can sometimes be a cat's way of saying maybe there's too much going on. a very common cause of stress-induced spraying is having a multiple cat household.
It's not the reason that the cat doesn't like living with other cats, he may just be that he feels the territory in the household isn't big Enough to accommodate everybody's Personal space.
24
If you think spraying may be related to stress , try to workout or reduce the cause of Stress, if its possible try to help him cope by making sure you give him enough attention and exercise.
And be certain he has plenty places to retreat to in your home where he can just chill get away from it all, such as a high up shelf’s with a comfortable rug, a cat tree, or a Piece of cat furniture.
Get your cat checked out however if its in the case of an unentered young adult cat, If your cat starts spraying, it may be a case of (urinary tract disease) or maybe other health problem. Spraying that starts with a physical type problem can't be corrected until that physical type problem is put right.
When Is It The Right Time To Call The Vet
If the cat starts to sprays even only once, get in touch with your vet this wont be a behavior you will want to continue, however there could be a Physical reason maybe It's time for the male kitten to be neutered you will want sort it out and get it taken Care of before the behavior becomes a Permanent headache.

Chapter 9 How To Deal With Cats Having Litter Tray accidents
With all cat behavior problems in mined, these will be the ones cat owners complain about the most and with very good reason. Placing the mess and damage to one side, inappropriate elimination is unsanitary and creates an unpleasant and often malodorous atmosphere in the home.
All Cats will have an instinct to dig into loose materials and bury their urine and faces, and a lot of them adapt this instinct to the litter tray with one or two problems. But yet it's still something they have to learn, and they will often need that help to get the first lesson right.
Trays, trays all over the place. litter trays and litter should be one of the first things you buy when you decide to bring a cat in your home. Get them set up before the cat Sets its little paw in to your home. make sure the trays are clean, easy to find, and numerous enough.
One good idea is to have multiple litter trays, that may be the solution for a cat that is having trouble eliminating.
Several cats will dislike using a tray that another cat has just recently used even if that other cat is herself, so the rule of thumb is: the number of litter trays in the household has to be the equal number of cats you have in the house plus one.
Thus, if you have two cats, you should have at least three litter trays, even if households with just one cat should have at least two trays.
26
Lets keep this simple. Deodorizing litters, antibacterial litters, high-tech litters all of these gimmicks used to sell various kinds of cat tray fillers are aimed at the creatures that buy the litter, not necessarily the ones that use it.
There's nothing wrong with using a litter that makes your job of tending to the litter tray a little easier or a little less unpleasant, but some cats may be put off by the additives, perfumes, and chemical deodorizers used in some of these products. And that means they'll choose to do their business elsewhere. the plain cat tray clumping litter (unscented) usually works fine.
Stop all this madness once a cat begins to eliminating outside of the litter tray, don’t just think the cat will learn to use the tray on her own. Cats habitually will return to the same places to eliminate, a habit that's reinforced by the lingering odor of urine or faces.
Since a cat's sense of smell is far far superior to ours, cleaning up a litter tray accident so that you can no longer detect the odour may not be enough to deter the cat from doing it again.
Enzyme-based pet odor neutralizers actually it break down the chemical structure of the urine and then faces residue so that your cat can just no longer smell it. Pet supply stores usually carry at least one or two brands of these.
Deny them the favorite spots. Deny your cat access to the places where the cats eliminated outside of the litter tray. physical barriers work really well indeed, but if that's not just possible, try to covering these spots with tinfoil or double sided tape.
This will provide a barrier to the odor and a texture the cat will not want to walk on. If possible, consider placing a litter tray directly on top of the inappropriate spot, and then gradually move the tray an inch or so every few days, until it's where you want It to be.
Just be your cat's personal trainer. When your cat first comes home, keep her in one room with a litter tray. Once the cat has started using that tray consistently, give it the run of more rooms. usually, this will be enough to lock in the habit.
However, a cat who doesn't completely get the hang of the litter tray or backslides starts eliminating in other places will needs some extra additional training.
I think one of the best method you can use is to use a large portable dog kennel. Set the cat up in the kennel with litter and water and give her meals in the kennel too. When you see that the cat is using the litter tray, let her out for a bit.
27
Keep an extra good eye on the cat, and return it to the private quarters after an hour or two. The next time you see the cat use the litter tray, let it out again. the idea is, that only gets free run of the house when it uses the litter tray.
This strategy can train (or retrain) a cat to use the litter tray in as little as two or three weeks it may be a bit longer isn't uncommon, either but a litter tray in every room could really help your cat feel more comfortable.
What is the cause? a cat who suddenly begins eliminating in inappropriate places could be announcing to you that he or she doesn't feel very well. You will never make any progress on getting it to use the litter tray consistently if there's a physical cause for the unwanted behavior, so get the cat to the vet as soon as possible.
Location, location, location. Sometimes, there's something about the location of the litter tray that the cat objects to. Maybe its too far out of the way down in a basement or up in an attic.
Hard to get into or out of especially for small kittens or elderly cats. Sometimes, air fresheners or other odours in the room will keep the cat away.
Pine and citrus, are pleasing smells to us but may be offensive to cats. also, loud noises, such as a nearby stereo, may disturb your cat when she's doing her business.
When its time to Call the Vet
And before you try to treat inappropriate elimination as a behavior problem, take your cat to the vet for a thorough examination. if your vet rules out a physical cause great, you will know it's probably a simple behavior problem.
However, even if there is a physical problem and your vet treats it successfully, your cat still has developed this habit of eliminating someplace other than litter tray, also you will still need to follow the steps for correcting this behavior problem.

Chapter 10 How To Clean Cat Urine
When you think of the awful scent of that cat urine on the living room carpet of your home even a litter tray trained feline can experience a simple accident or two.
When cats start to urinate around the house there are several reasons why, the main one is marking their territory when a new pet is introduced into the household stress and depression sickness; and various medical problems will occur.
To get rid of the horrible smell of urine, everyday items and simple solutions will become your best friend in the whole world when you are short of time to choose a good professional cat urine remover.
Below are some tips and methods to remove cat urine odour in your house:
Discover The Stain
At times the offensive cat urine smells in your home is not always visible to the eye, and especially if the stain has dried already. this may require you to sniff around a bit. On all fours, using your nose to identify the stains.
Some people have told me that you can also find it a lot easier if you go and purchase a black light, which causes urine to glow. And all you need to do is simply mark the stains you detect for cleaning.
Blot stains, never rub
Wet stains may require you to start blotting it with a clean paper towel or using an absorbent cloth. Try to to avoid spreading the stain around, never try to rub out urine.
Wet stains will always require weight
If you put paper towels over a stain to cover it and stand on them for about 30 Seconds or so, the amount of urine absorbed will increase. Try to dry the stains before you add clean water to begin the process of cleaning.
29
Using warm water
You may rinse a stain out by using warm water, and then followed by a round of blotting. The area is then covered with the paper towels, you will then attempt to absorb as much urine as you can before you start adding an enzymatic cleaner.
Enzymatic cleaners
When you go out and look for some decent cat urine removers, once you spot the Products with 'enzyme' written on the label are the best ones to use. It is suggested to you that you should ignore these items that use detergents and fragrances to hide odors.
Like us, humans may pick up on the flowery, pine, and powder-fresh scents, but cats and dogs are not stupid.
Enzymes attack the source of the odor instead of providing a good cover-up of the Problem that will only humans will respond to.
One of the popular cat urine remover there are with enzymes is get serious stain Remover.
have you tried aluminum foil
When you start using an enzymatic cleaner, the stains that you need to stay wet. as to using aluminum foil to cover the spot so it can allow products to work its magic.
Next pass on the carpet shampoo
With Some cat owners will feel that carpet shampoo is a really good way to clean urine stains, but the components actually will hinder all the actions of enzymatic cleaners. It is suggested for you to avoid detergents and clean carpets for a later date.
Remember not to use ammonia-based cleaners
As ammonia carries a similar scent to urine, these products will only attract the cats back to the same locations.
The cat urine removers that are citrus-scented
If you decide that you want to choose a good cat urine remover that will prevent a repeat performance, select a product with a citrus scent, and this is very unappealing indeed to felines.
30
Do avoid steam cleaners totally
A very good carpet shampooer is not always the answer to all of your problems when it comes to stained carpet issues. When you steam clean a carpet with cat urine stains on it, this will only cause the odour to worsen Even more as this is caused because of a combination of heat and steam.
Basic common household items
When you find an immediate cat urine remover, always consider that creating that very good solution made with white vinegar or baking soda, which are very common additions to many expensive cleaners on the market today.

Chapter 11 How To Train Your Cat To Use The Toilet
Can you train your cat to use the toilet. and by doing this it will save you a lot of time and money. as there will be little or no mess at all.
Once your cat has been trained properly to go into the toilet, and you will be able to eliminate all the cat litter and the nasty smell associated with cats. you will however you need a few basic items to get you started. A roll of aluminum foil, a tray, and cat litter preferably flush-able kitty litter.
The good thing about this is you will not have to clean the litter tray box again and it will save you money on not having to buy the litter bags any more to go into the trays.
You need to decide is which toilet you have in the house you will want to use. And in addition to this, what toilet in the house the cat will be using. If you have got two toilets in the house it maybe however a lot easier to train than if, you only have in your house one toilet.
Now you will have to use the aluminum tray to put on the toilet. As with the two toilets in your house, you can just leave the tray right in the toilet and not have to remove it at all when you or anybody in your house need to use the toilet. But on the other hand. If you have only one toilet, it is not going to be that convenient to share the toilet with your cat.
32
As with this you will just have to remove the tray whenever you want to use the toilet. Be sure to leave the seat in the down position and the lid in the up position for the training period.
You can leave a note on the toilet if you want for guests to know so that your cat does not make a mess on the floor if the lid is down. Replace the cats litter tray with an aluminum-cooking tray.
The aluminum tray should be the right size so it can fit in the toilet. Having the seat lid should be able to close so that the seat lid holds the tray in place. Don’t forget to close the lid. The results may not be less than attractive. OK start moving the tray closer and closer to the toilet so that the cat will be using.
Be sure not to move it at all when the cat does not know it is there. once the litter tray is in the bathroom put something about an inch thick right under the tray.
Newspapers or magazines are a very bad choice for this. the magazines are slick and the litter tray could accidentally fall over.
Carry on so that you start to raise the litter tray around about an inch every day until the litter tray is the on the same level as the toilet is. The cat will then be able to just step into the litter tray at first.
You raise the litter tray, the cat will have to jump Into the tray. And as well You may want to secure the tray tight so it does not move at all when the cat jumps into the litter tray.
This will let the cat know what its for its there by scraping its claws in the tray. And if there is, no litter in the tray the cat will be confused as hell so without stressing the cat and it will not understand what is going on.
After you put the tray is in the toilet, you can start using cat litter, which will be flush able. So if you Are Using flush able kitty litter, you will not have any or little mess to clean up.
You will need to continue to leave the tray in there for about 3 weeks or so. During this time you can start to reduce the litter you have in the tray and make just a 1" diameter hole in the tray.
Every week, just make the hole 1/2" bigger. and If the cat starts to mess on the floor then the cat is will be trying to let you know that you are moving to fast. If your cat Is slightly heavy, then try to use two trays to hold the cats weight.
33
Also you may want to wait before you start to train your cat until it has reached at least 6 months old. With cats younger than that they cannot balance well and may end up this could start to being a big big problem for you.
Don’t Just get discouraged as this process can take you up to two to three months to master. The cat will start with just two paws on the tray.
As the hole you have put into the tray just gets bigger by 1/2" per week it will then start to move its third leg to the toilet seat. And finally, the cat will have all its four legs on the seat. And with some cats who cannot just grip the seat that well.
If your cat is going to be the only one to use that toilet, you might as well start putting some kind of tape so it can grip to on the lid of the seat.

Chapter 12 Why Train Your Cat To Visit The Veterinary Surgery?
Once your cat needs shots, exams, and medical attention and once this time comes for your cat it will have to be prepared for this type of attention.
When you take them to the veterinarian surgery, cats will start to meet a lot of different kinds people, like other cats, and dogs birds rabbits.
With cats they can start to get frightened with all the different smells, scents, sounds about the place that will not be familiar to them. Even the vet will be a stranger to the cat when he will be handling your cat.
Stressful event can cause stress if you do not start to take the proper precautions in training the cat.
As with any situation due to illness, you will be needed to take your cat to the vet. If
this is the first time that you will be taking the cat to the vet, you will be needed to stay calm and always be in control. Your cat will sense the uneasiness in you.
If you poses a carrying case this is the best way to transport your cat to the Veterinary surgery. Rest assured that this will keep them save from the harm, from another animals especially other cats and from trying to escape also.
Always use the carrying case for other times also as that is convenient for you to travel with the cat. Using this as the carrying case just for vets visits will result in the cat starting to hide away in a corner of the house. Hopefully far enough away from you so that you will not be able to get him.
Choosing a good veterinarian will be just as important as taking your cat to the vets. You will also want to find a veterinarian that has been in practice for a good while. And this will help you with the first visits for the cat to the vets.
As you will need to take carefully care of your cat and recommendations that the vet may have for feeding and training. You do not just want to jump in on the first visit for the vet to examine or do anything that will put the cat in fear.
The very first couple of times you visit it should be friendly visits so that the cat will then start to get used to the vet touching and talking to him. As this will take a lot of stress out of both you and your cat.
When the vet for the first time starts to get to know your cat, you will want to keep Praising the cat for the great job that he is doing. In addition, keep rewarding the cat and tell him/ her is doing a great job.
35
Very good small treats are great so that you just can slip them right into your pocket so you can take with you. Also remember that treats are for good behaviors not bad ones. If you do want to take large amounts but just give the treats to your cat when its doing good behaviors.
If and when there is bad behaviors at the vets or anywhere, you will want to use that stern voice by its name and what the behavior is. Tell the cat you want it to really stop what it was doing.
This will just let your cat know that you will not approve of it. A very simple loud clap may be a way to get the cats attention for the bad behavior incurred. Also you just need to get the cat to relax again this would be great.
And this will be telling them that the fears they are having at the vets is nothing to be afraid of. Stroking the cat on the head and giving comfort and talking to him will help both of you a lot.
When you start to make regular office visits to the vets surgery. you will need to keep the cat away from the vet so it will not know whom the vet is.
You can say to the vet that they can keep any shots or illness on file to help with if the cat is sick again. Just like as we go to the doctor as they will have a file of your cats health records.
And it is also important to have the same type of record for your cat. You may find in some towns and cities they require that all shots are to be kept on record at the Veterinarian office. If ever there is a case of serious injury then there is a record or the cats shots and health.
Always be kind to your pet and they wont mined when you take them to the vet they will love you for caring for them.

Chapter 13 Start Your Cats Training For The Holidays
When you start to hang the stockings out with care in hope the cat will not start to interfere with the twinkling of the lights from the fresh looking cut tree. With the hope that the cat will just sit by the sill. watch the cats wondering eyes as it appear with the moon glowing on the glitter, tensile, and fancy shiny bulbs of the tree. As the cat is watching it all, and taking it in, with one great big leap that is the end.
So is this going to be the story for you every Christmas, you can take all the time and preparation to have that perfect Christmas tree with all the trimming in the room.
When You go to bed and next thing you know there is a disaster at the living room as to where the tree was standing now it isn’t, socks were hung, on the fire place, and Everything on the mantel is now on the floor.
When you start to train your cat not to do these things,This is going to be a bigger challenge than what you were hoping it was going to be.
That is why we need to train our self also so we can start to think of things when we do put up the Christmas tree with the cat in mind.
There is a good way to start is by letting the cat enjoy the holidays with you. Like having a present. It wants to have its own things to play with that is shinny and resembles the things on the tree.
37
Very few things to remember is that the tree is fresh cut have a pine scent that somewhat resembles the catnip. So now, kitty is in trig with the tree because of the smell and freshness of it.
The pretty poinsettia that you have been sitting next to the fireplace that looks so very lovely indeed and that they are very poisonous. Kitty eats any of it it will be very ill if not die from poinsettia plants.
Always start to treat the cat during holiday time, making sure a small sample of food off the table. Even as much as once or twice, a year for the holidays will not spoil the cat. Does the cat have a stocking yes indeed make one especially for your cat, And put catnip in the stocking as well.
Catnip does come in sprays and you could start spraying it with that, as this way they may not be wanting to touch yours hanging on the fireplace or wall.
Making sure also that kitty has plenty of water so that you don’t find that he wants to Go the tree drinking the water another thing that can be done also is if you have a real tree is you can fill it with the water and put plastic over the top so that kitty is not right exposed to it.
And once you have that a nice tree skirt over the water holder it to the trunk this will also help it to keep your cat away from wanting to drink the water. There is also a chemical out on the market to help preserve that tree for the holidays, you must remember is that they will not preserve you cat.
These chemicals can really harm your cat, or even cause death. because most the time we put the tree up to keep it watered everyday and can add couple of aspirin to the water to help the life of the tree.
When you make decorations for your cat and start to hang them near his play area so that he can start to enjoy them and play with them instead of the ones on the tree.
Remember you do not hang pretty expensive decorations on the tree or near the bottom, as this will get kitty to want to sit and play with them dangling from the tree.
When you have the lights on and only when you are present to help kitty to remember that they are really to look at and not to play with.
Cats are not really concern at all that the lights do run on electricity this can be a real Hazard for your cat as your cat is really in trig with the blinking lights on the market. they have a lot of flashing items during the holidays that do run on batteries and are safe for children.
38
Depending on the item it can be cat safe. Checking the item over carefully before giving it to kitty. However, a blinking lights or light could be an answer to the lights on the tree.
When you start to Spend time with your cat a couple times in the day for good healthy exercise and games this will give the cat the exercise and play time that they need to help sleep while you are tending to holiday things.
39
Chapter 14 Do You Really Know What a Catnip Is?
So john what the hell is catnip? how do I know if its safe? are there other alternatives?
While catnip isn't at all dangerous or harmful for your cat. However, on the rare occasion some cats may start to respond aggressively to catnip - but it's very uncommon.
AS with catnip it is the common name for a perennial herb of the mint family.
No one really actually knows for certain what happens in the cat's brain, and as it is known that the chemical nepetalactone contained in catnip is what triggers the response.
However with that in mind not all cats react to catnip. The catnip gene is inherited in some cats but they don't seem to be affected by it at all.
Little kittens that are under the age of 4-5 months generally do will not have reaction at all.
As for the cats that do react catnip can cause a fun and exciting reaction! cats will usually rub their bodies on it, roll over it, kick at it, eat it don't worry, this is safe indeed and overall and just go completely nuts over it!
There always a downside to all this fun though. And did you know that cats can actually become immune to catnip if they are constantly be exposed to it.
40
Lets go and do this to squeeze the maximum amount of fun and pleasure out of catnip, you should keep the catnip and the catnip toys put away and only bring them back out for 1 day at a time, every 4-5 days or so.
There are others that aren't different kinds of catnip, but there are different parts to a catnip plant, and the good new is that the best parts to get are the leaves or buds, because they're most potent.
Try to avoid catnip stems. They aren't very potent and they can be dangerous to a cat that eats them.
However catnip spray is “OK”, generally but not as good as the actual plant. however, it's very useful and convenient for spraying onto scratching posts, cat trees, and cat beds.
You will find that over time, with all catnip will lose it's potency. So catnip toys need to be replaced or "reshuffled" with new catnip every 6-8 months or so.
This is for maximum potency, to store catnip in a sealed airtight container something like a Tupperware or even a zip lock bag. keeping it in the freezer can also make It so it will last longer.
Right so what alternatives do you have to catnip?
Will honeysuckle is a great alternative to catnip. Does have the effects on cats haven't been as researched, but so far it has been shown to affect more cats than catnip does, however because of the reaction to it isn't inherited like with catnip.
As your cat doesn't necessarily have to have a reaction to catnip in order to like honeysuckle.
There are no studies that have been done before to determine exactly how and why cats react to honeysuckle, but it is known that honeysuckle affects the cat's sense of smell. It gives them extreme pleasure through their olfactory nerves.
How can you start to increase the potency of honeysuckle by getting it wet. However unlike catnip, it never completely loses its potency. simply get it wet and it can be rejuvenated over and over again.

Chapter 14 Creating A Solution To Stopping Cats Suck Wool
Does it make your blood boil when you walk in the room and that sweater someone just finished knitting and your cats is sprawled all over it, carefully raking away the stitches with her front paw pulling away with her teeth like a wild cat.
Cats with this kind of behavior with go after fabrics of different materiel. The worst thing the paw gets tangled in the wool and moult their hair over the fabric.
There is not a reason why cats do this, however suspect cat behavior is very common indeed when they are young kittens. Some cat breeds, at least Siamese, will be natures to wool sucking, the gleans factor is quite strong in cats.
Sucking wool is what your cat does, don’t start to worry, many methods that you can do to stop your wool being sabotaged some useful tips you can use.
Don’t make it tempting for your cat. I bet your cat looks sweet curled up in that sweater on that closet, and your cat comes across as a wool sucker you might just change those clothes you got in the closet.
Try to get in to a routine to placing your garments in a safe place away from the wool sucker of a cat.
However you look at it its good materiel being wasted, and its the cats prerogative to attack your fiber chewing the fabrics a good thing you could get into is start giving your cat a dietary fiber and make it habit of yours.
High fiber foods are more crunchier than your tin or sachet packets.
When your cat craves the wool provide it with an oral stimulation. When you notice that your cat shows a desire give her some cabbage or a lettuce instead of that jumper or blanket you just worked so hard to knit.
42
The old high school method. When you spot your cat approaching that nice woolly sweater you just spent most of the night creating switch it with a chewy soft cat toy try supply your cat with many toys especially the ones he an chew which will help and stop her from destroying your work of art with two pinned needles.
As the saying goes age before beauty. As a rule before you consider bringing another pet into your home give it a good old consideration of the age of your cat there may be a history of wool and fabric chewing adopt a kitten who is at least 10-12weeks old.
Never have left the side of there mother. with cats 6 to 8 weeks old the chewing of garments may occur however once they have reached 10 weeks rest assured they may have grown out of it and wont give you are problems.
So is it time to Call the Vet
You should not need vet attention when wool sucking is concerned, meanwhile watch out for your cat that she doesn’t get loose stitching in her thought this may can however cause major problems and will need vet assistance if this was to happen.
As with cats they all can brilliant companions and they can also be a pain in the back side if and when your cat discovers an annoying habit please rest assure that you will have the know how to deal with it.
43
Chapter 16 Why Cats Are So Different From Dogs
And why am I saying that cats are so different than dogs.
Now any idiot knows that a cat isn’t a dog and I don’t need to go into reasons hear as to why right?
As with many non cat lovers who state that if you cant train a cat so its not a good idea to have it as a pet.
This is totally incorrect. And I am on the cat lovers side here as these statements suck. And the bottom line is, that we can train cats, just because cats are trained a different way and the same method will not be used to train as dog.
And this is why the cat wont think in the same way as a dog will, the both instinct are totally different which different situation needs a different reaction.
Hear is how. Any dog trainer worth his salt will need to use the natural instinct side of the dog to come out on top.
With a cat you wont be able to do that. The cat can be a member of a hierarchy and Are not part of any pack and don’t need to be a leader.
Using physical punishment is out of the question when it comes to your cat, and if this attitude is shown your cat will be in fear of you and wont warm to anything you do and you will lose any trust the cat had in you.
People will wrongly think that a cat think it did something wrong, when you come across the cat in one of his wrong behavior he will run and seek cover.
44
And the end result the cat with become petrified of you. They have been trained to detect your body language they will read the changes in you as they are subtle and if they pick up that you are angry they will run away from you.
Now is the time for you to solve your cats behavioral problems by showing an interest in learning how to achieve this.
And its your call. However the wrong way you are doing things, you will continue to get the same results or you can change the way you think about your cat and get the results you need by getting an understanding of you cats behavior and finding the solution.
45
Chapter 17 Dealing With Your Cats Bite And Scratch Behavior
Taking a stroll across the hallway in your home, just in a world of your own, then you notice that your cat jumps towards the direction of your ankle, digging its claws and teeth on, next thing the cat loses interest and runs along.
Would you call this being an violent attack? showing a sign of hatred or even jealousy? or on the other hand it could be just nothing.
When your cat is in pain it mite start to scratch or bite, feeling afraid, even just being told to do something that the cat is not happy to do but may not have a behavior problem at all, the cat can be just acting like a normal cat.
This may be a learning habit or just miss communication which over time can be worked out and solved.
If your cat for no apparent or noticeable reason starts to scratch bite pounce on anything the cat may show a sign of some kind of disorder or disease.
At times, even quick movements of scratching or biting that’s out of caricature could be something that’s is known as a (n,s,d) nervous system disorder.
However any scratch or bite that comes from your cat that has not been given the rabies vaccination you should make an appointment to see your doctor.
Always be careful as cats that don’t carry a tag or registration or not had any shots does not mean the cat is not rabies free.
46
Do you know how your cat came across this way? however many cats and kittens have learned to use human limbs as toys, climbers, and scratching posts, a lot of cat owners will be surprised to find out that they are the ones that learn their young cats these bad habits in the first place.
below are some tips to follow.
Encouraging your kitten or cat to play with your bare hand or foot is going To be a no no.
Don’t ever cheat the first tip by wearing protective glove. you should have some kind of appropriate toy for your cat to play with in the middle your limbs and your cat's sharp claws and sharp teeth.
Having a small kitten can Look cute climbing your pant leg or drilling at your thumb, however you'll be laughing the other side of your face when the cat repeats these behaviors once its an adult cat.
The cat and you may see it as playing. jumping, biting, and attacking are normal parts of cat play behavior. however the only way your cat knows how to relate to you is as if you were another cat. And it's your job to explain to it in the way the cat understands that its behaving too exuberant.
Rule one, making sure that your cat has enough outlets for normal feline play. Having objects of some toys around wont be enough, your cat will need to be active and inter active play. You will need to play with the cat.
Get the cat to run around, jumping, and attacking toys. And when the cat tries to pull at you during a play Session, pull it gently by the scruff of the neck, firmly but not to loud say "a firm no" and immediately give it a proper cat toy for it to play with.
When your cat during the day may gets into boredom, encourage your cat to be overly exuberant in playing with you too. If you have a single cat, consider getting her a feline friend.
Change the routine. When your cat gets into the habit of playing with you by Scratching and biting, then just change the rule a bit this will probably won't be enough to get her to stop.
Watch out when its most likely to attack your hand or rake your ankle, then what you need to do is deliberately set up one of those situations. Have a bottle spray or squirt gun full of room temperature water handy, and give her a sprinkle the minute it starts to digs with claw or teeth.
47
Never yell at the cat or chase her with water, You will need it to associate the action with the inconvenience of suddenly getting wet.
Getting defensive and biting and scratching. Teeth and claws are a cat's primary weapons. If your other warnings just don't work, cats will start to bite and scratch to protect themselves.
Keep an eye on your cat's vocal and body language, the cat may normally let you know when the time for defensive to like scratching and biting will happen.
Never start to show a cat who's the chief by forcing the issue once its warned you. The best thing to do is simply to back off whatever it is the cat wont like or may use a safe method of restraint, if it's a thing that must be done.
However, serious scratching and biting are the result of miss communication: something triggered the cat, and it has the impression that the fault is the nearest pet is responsible.
Another time, sometimes, whats really is physically wrong with the cat that may have been causes it to actually attack something without cause or warning.
If it doesn’t break the skin with your cat's bites and claws, its because Inhibited biting to be In a playful way and scratches.

Chapter 19 Coping With Scratched Furniture By The Cat
All breeds of cats, whether they are lions and Cheetahs to Siamese and alley cats, they all have it in them to scratch. the three Behaviors of this are
1 Marking territory
2 Making sure the claw is in tip top condition
3 Loosening those ligaments and muscles of the feet and toes
Removing the claw the surgical removal of the first joint of the cat's toes, which includes both the nail and the cells from which new nails grow this will not stop the scratch behavior.
However it will be a less of the damage a cat can do. you then need to not completely stop the cat scratching but making sure the cat scratches in the places where it cant damage like toys cat trees or scratching posts.
Get the cat a good scratching post even give it two if you must or more. don’t forget the three reasons above for the scratching, making sure you get a good scratching post that will meet all of these needs.
Making sure also that its long enough for when your cat reaches the adult stage so it can have a good reach and stretch.
It will need to be a good steady one that a good 12 - 16 pound cat so it will be able to pull it all the way to the top and not tipping it over.
52
You can train your cat not to scratch the post but cover it with materiel fabrics that show scratch marks like sisal cloth, a lot of cats will be attracted to textured surfaces as scratching zones.
This way it will let the coarse weave hook in and get a real good stretch. you will see the handiwork that shows the territory which is part of scratching and you will need this to get a proper scratching post.
However place it in sight. remember the last time you were looking for a particular address and none of the houses were clearly marked? have you said to someone, these things should be marked so people will be able to spot them.
But with the cat its exactly the same it marks the territory to show you base of address so to speak.
When the cat cant see the scratching post by sight placing it about 8 inches from the deck and by any direction of the room the cat will ignore it and go straight for the couch or that rug on the floor.
Making sure you take temptation out of sight. design your cats environment so it notices that the scratching post is more attractive than the carpet of furniture and
put washable area rugs about the place using hard floors rather that carpets in every room.
The same with furniture upholstered with textured weaves and wicker are almost certain to sustain scratching damage; and if you think that you will forever and always have cats, pick a different decorating scheme.
Having the old fashioned tried and trusted way of keeping your cats from scratching expensive garments and furniture, by placing the expensive things in a room and don’t let the cat have access to it and let it only hang around in other rooms.
Pause for claws. get your cats nails trimmed on a regular basis so it will not damage the expensive things you love if then your cat does not cooperate with you, hire a groomer or vet to get them cut for you.
hiding the evidence of the damage if the damage has already started by the cat, block it from view of the cat.
You can place heavy items in front of it that the cat wont scratch like TV hifi computer desk or on high shelves, placing a sheet over the damaged furniture, you can also place them out of reach in a cupboard or in another room or removing items behind closed doors.
53
This can work in your favour as you will know where your cats territory is and your cat has identified this so place a scratching post next to the damaged furniture.
Making some alterations, but make them the positive ones. start using the bottle of spray to correct occasional scratching in undesirable locations.
Using real positive and reinforcement to use techniques to start encouraging the cat to use the scratching post only, hang some toys over the top so you get here to climb the post with or just swing them.
Scratch your fingernails on the materiel of the post to get your cat to start the Scratching there.
If you can remove the cat physically from scratching in an area that you have spot as an out of bounds area and place her paws In scratching position where you want it to go.
This will in all cases, lavish the cat with praise and petting for doing the right thing and even give some treats if you may.
54
Chapter 20 How To Deal With Cats That Knock Things Over
Most often than not, cats tend to send things crashing to the floor in the course of vigorous play a wild dash up the way culminates in a big leap from floor to couch to end table, then for good measure sending the intervening lamp light crashing to the floor in the process.
Sometimes, however the cat will deliberately push an item over the edge of a shelf or table to get a reaction from you, then rushing away from the incident resulting chaos and infuriated humans.
What would you call this behavior? just incident toying with prey will be a common behavior in feline hunters.
When you notice your cat nudges something small over like a stationary item with her paw the cat will practice the same behavior.
But your cat's instincts will tell it that paperweight or even nick knack could just turn out to be just a mouse.
Her real poking paw would send it scurrying to the deck, giving the cat some fun and thinking its playing a good game.
When the cat starts to learns that knocking something to the floor or smashing it will bring humans on the double-quick towards them, and the cat may actually just start to do it on purpose.
Just to get your attention and especially in particularly if it feels that a meal is late and long overdue.
Try to find the cat something else to do. because a bored cat will just find her own way to amuse itself and pushing things off high places and hearing them drop is often one of them.
55
Ample appropriate toys, climbing and hiding into places to the cat will call their own, and a playmate preferably another cat in the home can provide better options to keep it amused.
Remove any temptation well out of her way. like low shelves, counter tops, or the tables lined with nick knacks about the place, even collectibles, like small easel-backed picture frames are going to be an invitation to disaster the home with your cat.
When you got anything that just won't survive a trip from whatever surface it's on then it will find its way to the floor and if this should happen to be put somewhere else or just by surrounded by a simple cat-proof barrier, like a putting porcelain figurines in front of a glass front case hidden away rather than on showing open shelves.

Chapter 21 Male Cats Versus The Female Cats
It is said that in a survey of over 120 cat lovers, it is said that it has come to the conclusion that there are no distinct personality differences at all between the male and the female cat.
The breed can determine the cats personality, when socialization, and the history and a many number of other factors as well.
While a little more than 50% of the owners that surveyed had claimed that their male cats were more affectionate – the remaining 45% did claim that just the opposite their female cats were the more affectionate ones than the other.
i still believe that the breed of the cat that you will choose is one of the biggest factors in the determining personality so if you are or have considered adopting a new cat, but just by doing a good research on the breed that you want it will give you a more accurate reading than choosing based on gender of your cat.
I’m just thinking that this is also based on the assumption that you will have your cat Spayed/neutered. If you are not or have planed on having your cat fixed, an unsprayed female will really make a much better pet for you than a non neutered Male cat just by simply because of the non neutered males that tend to be very Aggressive and they are very likely to start spray urine .
A major important factor also is that plays a part in your cat's personality is how it Does socialized during it's first 12 weeks of its young life. and for this reason, you Should always find out as much as you can relating to a kitten's background before Taking it anywhere near your home.
If you are looking to get your kitten from a breeder or even from someone you who that has been caring for the kitten since it's birth, this will be easy.
If you do get a kitten from a shelter or pet adoption center, this will be even harder and make it Imposable to find out your kitten's history. Even if you can or cant get the
57
info you require from its parents, or infant how it was kept in and what conditions the kitten was raised.
Nerveless, as I have shown you with the 11 feral I tamed and have socialized, even if the kitten may have came from less than fortunate circumstances in the way you do raise the kitten from that point on and how it will play a huge part in shaping his or her personality.
9 months ago I brought a 7 ½ week old kitten from the local shelter who, at the time was extremely vocal indeed, and somewhat skittish, and loved to bite things!
today this cat is very bold indeed, and is an outgoing cat, and extremely friendly. and a good cat personality as well.

Chapter 22 Taking Your Training Outdoors
Will an indoor cat get to be an outdoor cat? training your cat outdoors will be great for your cat. All outdoor cats just love the outdoors. They are getting regular exercise which can mean a new release of energy for your cat and your cat wont be up all-night waiting to go out.
When it comes to fences or trees your cat may be the expert at this. and those little Paws of the cat will know simply what to do. And that bird feeder in the garden really could be one magnificent place for the cat to sit and watch everything.
Protecting their territory the cat wont think twice about attacking. and removing Anything nearby and the cat will just jump on it to get to the feeder. your garden will be a nice place for your cat to dig and disturb and eat your plants.
This will destroy your garden and some of the plants in it can be real poison for your cat, so be cautious here. You can use sprays and you will get other products that you'd be able to get your hands on to help you with having the cat to stay out of the garden and using a sprinkler type system to water your garden.
Once you have applied the outdoor training for your cat, and there will be considerable dangers for the cat outside, maybe you cat hasn’t properly roamed outside, don’t over look training your cat on an harness.
This approach to start with so you will know where the cat will be. and when you have got the cat trained on the harness you will then be ready just to start the steps and let the cat free so it can run in the yard.
59
When you are ready to take it another step further, start taking the cat for short walks with the harness, don’t just use the yard for the cat to check out, try taking him down in the street to start test out the other areas that he will not be familiar with as of yet.
And this is very good for the cat as if he wants to find his way home in future he will know and it be familiar with the area also.
And talking about walks you can look for any other cats about, as this will be good for your cat. and this too is a great idea so to grasp if its time for your cat to start roaming alone. and with mating your cat be with the neighbors cat and not at your home.
Be careful to check the whole yard and make sure it is safe for your cat and that he will be ready to have fun when he is outside. start to provide the activities he needs So that he can approve of. both you and cat will start to have some great times outside.

Chapter 23 Dealing With Shy Cats
More than just the fabled feline cats, cats that are shy can really be all but invisible, running and hiding even from their owners. any part during the day, virtually every single cat will want to be alone and it will find a suitable place to crawl into. but the shy ones are just that and "scared-cats" may often spend most of their time out of sight.
But a cat that does spend most of its time under the bed isn't really having a good time of it and it could be that it hasn’t had Enough of 3 things food, water, or exercise.
So how is it that some are shy and some are not? you may find that Some breeds are more reserved than the others, but you will find also that some Cats, normally those who have not been socialized to humans, can be people shy. In other cases, the cat may even be frightened of certain types of people like children or men, or women.
Some may only come out at night. it is known that cats are naturally nocturnal animals. and another thing is If your cat rarely comes out during the day, but don't just its not prowling around the house at night which It could well be.
Since some cats can have just very quiet foot falls when they want to, you may not hear it at all. As they will make sure you don’t and you won't see it either because you will be asleep and by the way, and just because you cant find the cat which it could be in the same hiding place in the morning that you left it in the night before and Also it doesn't mean that the cat will spent the whole night there.
For the cat to be more secure and not shy, you can also try waiting until night has fallen. then Turn off all the lights and pull the shades. then just start to wait and until you see if your scared-cat is more willing to venture out.
61
Do a little tenderness. Start to give a shy cat all your attention but on the cats own terms. Just start to talk to the cat in its hiding place and perhaps even start to feed it where the cat is and also if the cat doesn't come out to eat.
Give it space, and constantly tell the cat with your words, tone of voice, and actions, and let her know you mean no harm to it at all. wait and be patient. making progress on socializing a shy cat can take a very long time indeed it can take weeks or even months infect.
Make a point of reassuring it over and over. keep giving the cat treats, and keep giving soft talk, and petting can also help you coax a really nervous cat into society.
If you really find something that the cat particularly likes It could be a specific food, a gentle rub behind the ear, grooming with the slicker brush reserve it to give her only on occasions of social interaction.
Never ever force the issue in any way. And always let a shy cat start to build Its own confidence on its own.
If you want to try to drag it out of its safe spot and force attention on it don’t, because you will start to make things worse and leading to making the cat more shy or you could risk being bitten or scratched nastily.
There's no law what so ever that says your cat will and must greet your visitors or play with the neighbor children. if it wants to be a recluse on social occasions, it will just let it.
62
Chapter 24 How To Raise Your Kitten To Be A Loving Cat
How can you get the vet shocked after you adopt a kitten from the local shelter.
Take the cat in for a routine check-up. for most pets, this isn't considered a fun experience.
The cat may have things put in her butt, then in the ears, down the cats little throat and wont look fun at all, when you handing the bill over to the receptionist, it can be painful indeed
What has made the whole situation even funnier, is that when you are walking towards the door and as you walked past a somebody holding a small plastic carrier – like yours and heard a very low growl followed by a loud hiss!
63
Chapter 25 How To Train Your Cat To Hunt
Has your cat starting to hunt more regular, pounding on the toys as they were going in for the kill, raking their claws over your feet as if they are a piece of meat?
Hunting is a natural behavior for your cat. will they eat the prey?
Kittens when they are born will have the natural instincts to hunt in them. however, cats will not to eat their prey. Eating the prey is a taught behavior not one that is natural to a cat.
When you allow your cat to eat its prey this is not a good idea at all as a cat can contract some diseases from other animals. this in turn can cause death to the cat or large vet bills to have the cat become healthily again.
Kittens when are born they learn by playing to adjust the speed, coordination and learn the distant for the prey.
Mothers of kittens if allowed to will kill the prey and they will bring it home for the kittens to eat, with eventually bring it home partial that killed the pray for the kitten to learn how to finish the prey and eat it.
This is a very important factor indeed when you are Looking for a kitten to raise. if You were not going to have the kitten eat its prey then you would not want to get a kitten that has learned this very bad behavior.
If the kitten will come to a home will the intentions are to help hunt and kill prey then you will want to look over the mother as well as the kitten to find out just what type of behavior the mother has taught the kitten .
Some families that have farms are usually the ones that are looking for cats and kittens who can be good hunters. this help a pot to keep the population of mice down in the barn, feed rooms, and areas that attract many mice.
Cats and kittens that are good hunters that are allowed to eat their prey also need attention for balance meals as well.
64
You will want to feed them a very good healthy balanced meal with the vitamins that they will be missing from the prey.
Depending on the time of year you will want to offer some good healthy food also, as the prey population depletes some if has happened after adopting a pet cat and you See that it is eating the prey, you will need to be able to train the cat to not to eat the prey.
And the first thing, when you see the cat eating prey, remove it from them and give the cat food right away some type of meat for cats that will give your cat the healthy balance diet that they need.
And second thing, show the cat that you do not approve of the meal they have chosen to eat you don’t need to punish the cat for this, but just to let them know in future You do not approve of this.
Making sure that you have left Enough food down for the cat to eat so that they know they have something Eat most the time to eat.
Never allow your cat to eat off the table, not even scraps that are left over from meals.
This will not be a good healthy food diet for cats or kittens to start eating. but your cat or kitten needs to be having good vitamins and protein, for it to build up healthy bones, muscles and have good brains cells.
This can also lead a cat to hunt and eat the prey. if allowed then the training for the cat not to eat, the prey will be hard to do.
