Meekness of Man
By: joe morrow

There are swords and daggers and dangerous things
Born from an ore to sever angels’ wings
And they brush by the spirit on the way to their mark
I might have kept it shielded or hid in the dark
But the flight of that dagger is awe fully unplanned
And I’m left there standing wounded spirit in hand

I’d take it to another and hold the thing out
But they might call me a fool and show me a shroud
And add to the burden alone I can’t stand
Still left there standing, wounded spirit in hand

I clouded my vision
Hoping numbness would heal
I never was present, I never was real
The void all consuming now knew me by name
I couldn’t find a reason and knew not why I came
Then hope bore a memory of a love that was planned
And I found myself standing wounded spirit in hand

I finally took it to my brother and held the thing out
He kept his mouth shut and loved me out loud
Shared in my tears and bore and embrace
Didn’t even try to solve or erase
Oh the trust that it takes and the meekness of man
To stand there together wounded spirit in hand

Wings
By: joe morrow

I’m straddling hells embers, and the pearly gates
Eating angel hair pasta, and red devil cake
Washing them down with communion wine
Could good and evil be so intertwined
It’ll burden the soul
And laden the mind

Life is a language and we must speak it out
Not keep our mouths shut and be knee deep in doubt
And these angel wings are flying me round
In spite of the devil in me

Eating angel food cake
And deviled eggs
To spite the fear we’re fed
Lives the dreams we make
I’m not buyin’ that fear that they’re selling uptown
These angel wings keep flying me round
In spite of the devil I see

Life is a language and we must speak it out
Not keep our mouths shut and be knee deep in doubt
And these angel wings are flying me round
In spite of the devil I see

I’m straddlin’ hells embers and the pearly gates
Eatin angel hair pasta and red devil cake
To spite the fears were fed
Live the dreams we make
And these angel wings keep flying me round
In spite of the devil I see
And these angel wings keep flying me round
In spite of the devil I see
In spite of the devil in me

Back for More
By: joe morrow

Pack up the van, get a couple of friends
And head out on the road
To the wilderness, to be wilder yet and to make it on our own

The drivings’ long, probably get there late
End up sleeping in the van
But the morning comes, Get the fire going
New day feeling, Campsite coffee in your hand

Where mosquito’s are free, And Doritos get stale
Because of the humidity
You wash them down with warm water soda or ale
Because the ice is all gone and it’s to dang far to town
But you wash um down, and carry on
Carry on and on and on come back for more
And carry on
Carry on and on and on

After about day three we head up to pops
Get a warm shower and home cooked meal
Always felt better leaving, No matter how good we did feel
Then it’s back to the woods, our up to no goods
Making it on our own
All in talking about the lives we’ve lived
The seeds we have sown

Then after a week my money is all gone
I gotta go back to work
Drive home six hours, get there on fumes
Smell of the creek still on my shirt
But that’s six hours of making sure our legends are secure
All in talking about the next
So that we can endure

Where mosquito’s are free, And Doritos get stale
Because of the humidity
You wash them down with warm water soda or ale
Because the ice is all gone and it’s to dang far to town
But you wash um down, and carry on
Carry on and on and on
Come back for more
And carry on, carry on and on and on

Begin
By: joe morrow

Has the other shoe
Fallen softly to the floor

And no one noticed
And do you even want me anymore
Lost and found
Found and lost again
Did you coin me
To wallow In this sin
All the while wondering
When will it all begin
Broken phrases
Broken minds
Sayin that’s just the way it is
Caught up in this laso of time
Draggin me
Draggin me through this briar
And pourin out my wine
Draggin me
Draggin me through this briar
And pourin out my wine

Payin dues
With holes in the soles of my shoes
Seeking harmony
In a choir of one
A twistin crumbling road
I do not wish to pursue
When the good I find in me
Becomes all the more undone
By broken phrases
And broken minds
Sayin that’s just the way it is
Receive it or step out of the receiving line
Draggin me
Draggin me through this briar and pourin out my wine

But I’ve found redemption
It comes In this time and in this place
It was not in the framework
It was in a real
In a right now friendly face
But no so foolish to brag “I am so pure”
Just knowing that within me there lies someone
Elses cure
From broken phrases
And hollow minds
It’s only the way it is
If you’re caught up in their laso of lies
No lost and found
No found and lost again
No one coined me to wallow in that sin
So walk with me through this briar
We’ll be sharing in our wine

Briar and vine
By: joe morrow
Been wrapped up in briar and vine
Made it through by will not might
Cuz might just makes the briar cut deep
But will will take you past the bleed

So comin’ sunshine or comin rain
Gonna get back on my feet again
Cuz life is short but life is sweet
I’m tryin not to miss to many a beat

Been wrapped up in briar and vine
I’ve walked in darkness and in light
Sometimes the lights so hard to see
Faith will get you past the bleed

Comin sunshine or comin rain
Gonna get back on my feet again
Cuz life is short but life is sweet
I’m tryin not to miss to many a beat

Bricks
By: joe morrow

1776 started building bricks
Freedom was not a lie
But Paul Revere just what did he hear his name was his he would not sign
He said I smell a rat
They’re just gonna pass the hat
The rich will get richer but the thin won’t get thicker

There’ll be water and mud
Bones and blood
Battelin through the night
And if you don’t get any on you man
They’ll say you’re not doin’ something right

Free the slaves, dig the graves
Freedom saved now being enslaved
Dogs of war thrust on beings of light
I’m quite sure
Beings of light

Had a bayonet
And these regrets
Stickin’ through his side
Left an only son, A farm to run
And a lovely lonely wife
The letter came, But who’s to blame
The battle was done
She broke down then, Came back around
And held her head up high
Patriots pride, In a widows sigh
Dogs of war thrust on beings of light
I’m quite sure
Beings of light

Brotherly love
By: joe morrow

Out on the ridge, of my home sweet home
Brotherly love, is down to skin and bone
Well you’re not your brothers keeper
I know that he done you wrong
Out on the ridge, packin hearts of stone

Superstitious ways, makin judgements on a mind
I heard him, he told you to have a nice day
But you said he was bein to kind
Well I’m here for lovin’ you
But I got my armor on
Out on the ridge, dodging hearts of stone

And up on the hill, where my family lays
I’ve left some anger there, defeated by that place
And I learned a thing or two, about the nature of harm
So up on that hill, I pray the wind stays warm
And I’d give these playin’ hands, they’d never sing another song
If I could go back and heal the place, all that harm was born

Superstitious ways, makin judgements on a mind
I heard him, he told you to have a nice day
But you said he was bein to kind
Well I’m here for lovin’ you
My only armor is this song
Out on the ridge, dodging hearts of stone

Creekin’
By: joe morrow

Time is creepin ain’t got no thing to do
Thinkin’ bout goin creekin’ gonna soak away these blues
Yeah, yeah,
Talkin bout them lonely lonely blues
Can’t get with the deacons daughter
Cool spring waters’ gonna have to do

All around me mother nature sure do shine
She has found me with a pole and stretch of line
Yeah, yeah
Talkin bout a pole and a stretch of line
I’d be plum unwound
If I found anymore unwind

Sun is lazin day end on a whipper will whine
Me and cousin danny happened on just the right moment in time
Yeah ,yeah
Talkin bout just the right moment in time
To pop the top on some of bills
Wild wild wild wild homemade wine

Daydream
By: joe morrow

I wish I was
Reveling in my surplus of time
Here have some of mine
Enough to be a little lazy
But I’m, Runnin round like a rooster with my head cut off
Even had to turn my head and cough
Or I would not be let in
But the trail that’s blazed is the trail that’s wide
So there’s really very little here to decide
Unless you’ve noticed another one
But I’m constitutin pursuitin of happiness
But it helps if we really know what that is
So we can be on our way

Revelin in our surplus of time
Here have some of mine
Enough to be a little lazy
It takes a little time in the easy chair to get out there
And put it out there
And when it comes to addin up the cost
Everything spent is everything lost
But if gold to hold is gold to share then we really might get somewhere
I’m constitutin pursuitin of happiness
but it helps if we really know what that is
so we can be on our way

Endeavor
By: joe morrow
I,
I had been waiting.
While you,
Catch a big piece of our dream.
You’ve worked so hard,
While I have been deflating.
I’ve missed you,
Oh so much.

We talked till one
I looked into your eyes
Saw hopes yet to come
Some not yet realized
We surfed our dreams
Got to know you again
In ten short years
I’ve never felt

Like I,
I might lose this treasure.
Silver and gold,
Can not hold a match.
The truth is,
The way of this endeavor.
Has made me very,
Very sure of that.

We talked till one
Looked into your eyes
Saw hopes yet to come
Some not yet realized
In ten short years
I’ve never felt
So redeemed
Baby you saved me
From my own
Conjure of despair
Truth is
Darling you’ve enslaved me
And I
I sure do like it hear

Family Weekend Adventure
By: joe morrow

There was a funky beat on market street
The phoenix sun was burning
Had a few wild hairs I forgot were there
I soon would be relearning

Took a leap of faith and fell on my face
But I found out who my friends are
And a great good God breakin up that sod
So I can see what’s in there

A siren singing and church bells ringing
Was it a funeral or a wedding
Leaps of joy and tears of pain
I won’t soon be forgetting

There was a funky beat down on market street
And I wasn’t real discerning
A snake In the grass slitherin past, didn’t even see her comin’
A hiss and strike and hit and miss, but my guitar still keeps hummin

Father Abraham
By: joe morrow

Father Abraham
We can’t contain your sons,
They’re fighting over that land
And they’ll battle till kingdom come
Father Abraham
Now there’s talk of peace
Other nations are joining in but the firing will not cease

As we walk along
What are we to do
While we carry on
How do we carry on through
Go walking in that faith
That you know so well
Peaceful reassurance that
We’re not going to burn

The battle’s been raging on
Some several thousands years
Dead daughters and sons and a
River full of tears
Could this be oh could this be
Is this how it appears
Are we in the brink of that last long week of years

Father Abraham
The covenant will not break
But there’s a cancer on this land
And it’s laughing
In our face

Foggy Bottoms and Stay
By: joe morrow

Drudging through the foggy bottoms
Set out to be destroyed
Long gone unseen forgotten
Maybe God won’t find you
But here’s a peal of hope for the down trodden
The ones who actually break on through
And drink in the starry heavens
Low clouds fall around you

So when you’re walkin through the shadows and the goin seems so cold
And you’ve got no thing to hold
Precious soul think of me

In the sunshine In the starlight in the breeze that wakes your day
In the firelight in the farlight
Precious soul I will stay

So when you’re walkin through the shadows and the goin seems so cold
And you’ve got no thing to hold
Precious soul think of me
In our stumbling in our waking in the bracing of our mast
All the life we are partaking turns into us as we pass
In the sunshine in the starlight in the breeze that wakes your day
In the firelight in the farlight
Precious soul I will stay

And here’s that peal of hope for the downtrodden
The ones who actually break on through
And drink in the starry heavens
Low clouds fall around you.

Found myself
By: joe morrow

It was only yesterday
I found myself
Only problem is
Forgot where I was

Oh I had a bright idea
The kind that saves the world
Now it’s as gone as it was to the point
Like an easy girl

Yes I had a brilliant plan
To save both heaven and hell
The solutions in my hand
Ready for the tell
I couldn’t get anyone to sing along
Acted like I was doing something wrong

Only problem is
Forgot where I was

It was only yesterday
I found myself
Only problem is

Get There Soon
By joe morrow

I met God on a hill top
Wild critters roamed, the firmament bloomed
Even on the winter wind
In hopes of spring to be here soon

I can’t explain all the reasons
Don’t even think were supposed too
Still seek the truth and be receivin’
Break the sod and work it through
And get there soon

I met God in ministries service
We brushed by on a cushioned pew
Or even fishin on the water
Hope you find some place to meet up too
And get there soon
Get there soon

Grateful
By: joe morrow

It’s a shame to have life
And not be livin’
Out on the streets and all on the avenues
Oh there’s a giver of life
And a testament must be given
We gotta gird up people
And go out and live it true
And be grateful
Each time our chest does rise
And be thankful
When sunset hues fill up our eyes
Hard times they will fall on you
but would you please remember this
We wouldn’t recognize hard times
If they weren’t surrounded by happiness
And the good lord, has gotten you this far
And is not the kind to quit
It’s a shame to walk this land
And be forgiven
If others around don’t see the forgiveness in you
Caught up in self, forgiveness it gets hidden
And were called on people to keep it out in plain view
There are others around who feel like there’s something missing
Well I’ve been there before, you’ve probably been there too
just sittin on their hands lookin for a meaningful mission
they got their eye on me and they sure got their eye on you
So be grateful
Each time our chest does rise
And be thankful
When sunset hues fill up our eyes
cuz hard times they will fall on you
but would you please remember this
We wouldn’t recognize hard times
If they weren’t surrounded by happiness
And the good lord, has gotten you this far
And is not the kind who quits

Gray and Blue Eyes
By: joe morrow

The music starts
It strikes her heart
She can’t help it
There’s nothing else she can do
Her feet they move
Young body sways
When we’re apart I remember her that way
Eyes of blue

And when she dances
Elegant sway
I’m soul struck
Taken away
Eyes of blue

She’s got short sandy brown hair
Used to be long
A curiosity for life that is so strong
You couldn’t wear it out the whole day long
Eyes of blue
She’s not that meek
She’s not that mild
But neither was Jesus and she’s only a child
Eyes of blue

It’s been a good season since your papa was a child
I had forgotten life could seem so wild
You remind of the reasons
You teach me what I know
Hearts on my sleeve girl and daddy won’t let go
Eyes of blue

Hello my brother
By: joe morrow

Hello my brother my old friend
It’s damn fine remembering you again
There were no fields of roses
No pies out on the window sill
But we had
One foot in front of the other on the cat walk
Mineola muddy water below
Hope and ambition both were spent
But the running water had a way of soothing the soul
And it helped to let go

Hello my brother my old friend
It’s damn fine remembering you again
Out at the old pavilion crick
Be wild said kickin’ up our heels out in the sticks
Philosophy religion and a twelve pack of beer
That alone is a reason for us all just bein here
Cuz it helps to let go

Hello my brother my old friend
It’s damn fine remembering you again
You joined with me on a musical journey
It’s been great both good chords and bad
We’ve seen loved ones pass and one re-appeared
And that blew my mind
But we kept the music on and had soulful communion for a time
And it helped to let go
It helped to let go

Letting go of the frustrations
That build from day to day
It means so much you can have the right person place and time
And it seems the whole world just disappears
It helps to let go
It helps to let go

If only for a day
By: joe morrow

When my time on this earth here is over
Friends what can I say
The good lord might catch me peekin back over my shoulder
I was heavily blessed along the way
Times when friends and loved ones were near and not far
the music rang out, there was a song in my heart
we were livin out loud, even if times were hard
and heaven didn’t seem so far away, and heaven didn’t seem so far away, if only for a day
And in my minds’ eye I spy a little girl dancin’
Heavily blessed along the way
I see my lover and a night of romancing
Friends what can I say
I don’t think the good lord would mind, the song that I’m bringin
Heavily blessed along the way
It’s an ode to the life he breathes out that I’m singin’
Heavily blessed along the way
He had a hope to bring the whole world, near to understand
If we were’nt workin together, we’d be a weary land
And he was livin’ out loud the kingdom is at hand
And heaven didn’t seem so far away, and heaven didn’t seem so far away, If only for a day

Kid again
By: joe morrow

Feelin like a kid again
Leanin hard into the wind
Confounded by this second birth
Did you forget how much you’re worth
Prince of this kingdom here on earth

Lifes a journey
Waxing and waning
Feels like I’m just hangin on for the ride
Don’t take me wrong I’m not complaining
Just pointin’ out the obvious and trying to keep the hope alive

Feelin like a kid again
Leanin hard into the wind
Confounded by this second birth
Did you forget how much you’re worth
Princess of this kingdom here on earth

King Georges’ Bluegrass Violin
By: joe morrow

Rome was fierce and Rome was great
A man made mountain that was temptin’ fate
Clean water in the bath guitars with golden tones
But fate was greater that ancient Rome

They had a good thing goin
Good thing goin got up and got gone
They had a good thing goin
All Romes’ daughters and all of Romes’ sons
And history was sown

Had a big library with lots of books
All the thinkin people took a brand new look
Anything you want if you’re so inclined
Just get off your butt and fill your mind

They had a good thing goin’
Good thing goin’ got up and got gone
They had a good thing goin’
All Romes daughters and all of Romes sons
And history was sown

Over extended in frivolous war
Rome wasn’t as fierce as Rome was before
And it’s not so funny the way time turns
Cuz Nero fiddled while rome was burned

Me Wine
By: joe morrow

Me wine, Me wine
Me drinks me wine
Such is, this thirsting
Heart of mine
Holdin fast to the embers
Being smothered by time
Gotta sit back and be still
And sip the savory wine

There is this girl
She’s just word pictures you see
Not the same for you
That she may be for me
But now she’s pushin up daisies
And we tend to the vine
Where blooms the bitter sweet fruit
From which I press me wine

And here is this world
Water earth wind and fire
With us mere mortal souls
Strung out on desire
And the press is made full
Easy to lose track of time
Gotta sit back and be still
And sip the savory wine
Our wine
We drinks our wine
Such are our thirsting
Hearts entwined
So hold fast to your embers
I’ll hold fast to mine
We will sit back and be still
And sip the savory wine

Misfit
By: joe morrow

I’m stuck in this fit, misfit sort of way
But I’ll push through, and I won’t quit
Till my dyin’ day
Are we living our own lives
Or givin it up for some unholy sacrifice
Fallen in line

I’m gathering evidence against this scheme
In its’ malevolence has us all chasing somebody elses’ dream
Instead of finding a dragon to slay
Before my free spirit drifts away
Or getting my sword out of its’ sheath
And doin’ some battle for the king
Or saving that princess from her uneasy stay
Pushing the demons back beyond the gray
Before my lifesblood drips away
Before my lifesbloos drips away

Some say society, now there’s the thing to blame
But in truth it’s only you or me, who keeps from putting fuel to that flame
And finding a dragon to slay
Before my free spirit drifts away
Or getting my sword out of its’ sheath
And doin’ some battle for the king
Or saving that princess from her uneasy stay
Pushing the demons back beyond the gray
Before my lifesblood drips away
Before my lifesblood drips away

Mistake
By: joe morrow

Oh I made a big mistake
Cuz I could not shut my trap
Runnin off at the mouth
Before my brain could even act

Like I lost my tender hand
Like a compassionless man
Here to build you up but tearin you down
I made a big mistake

I made a big big mistake
Flowers will help when I get them there
Could you please forgive this man
Don’t ever think I could cease to care

Like I lost my tender hand
Like a compassionless man
Here to build you up but tearin you down
I made a big mistake

Mistakes and All
By: joe morrow

In my mind I’m goin over
Green hills I remember where the sun
Shined down on me
My child like heart won’t be dismembered
For therein burns the ember where the sun
Shined down on me

But I won’t get carried away with myself
The sun never shines through closed doors
And I won’t get buried in illusions of wealth
Cuz that can’t be all that this livin is for
And friends don’t tary keep your anchor in the source
And dwell in the place that restores

There were times when I went rotten feelin half forgotten
Like the light of day would never see my face again
But there were those with doors wide open
Present and prayerfully hopin that the light and love would consume and cover me

So I won’t get carried away with myself
The sun never shines through closed doors
And I won’t get buried in illusions of wealth
Cuz that can’t be all that this livin is for
And friends don’t tary keep your anchor in the source
And dwell in the place that restores
In my mind I’m goin over
Green hills I remember where the sun
Shined down
On me

Papa’s Son
By: joe morrow

I was there when you were young
A little less square when you were young
You will be too before your done
You can’t help it you’re your papa’s son

How long was back when
How strong was I then
Playin my part in time
Straighten up and stand in line
As the chaos folds in

If you got your but kicked it’s a lesson learned
We always learn better when we crash and burn
Just how deeply that sinks in
Depends on what(who) you’re doin and where you’ve been

How long was back when
How strong was I then
Playin my part in time
Straighten up and stand in line
As the chaos folds in

You will be there when he is young
A little less square when he is young
He will be too before he’s done
He can’t help it he’s his papa’s son

Raining
By: joe morrow

Walkin whistling a brand new song
On that driveway after school 9/10 of a mile, 9/10 of a smile
If it was sunshine, or even if it was raining
I’d sing about love and happiness
Them good good things gonna get no regrets, Keepin in mind
Keepin in mind, there’s gonna be some sunshine
Gonna be a little raining’
But winter comes and its’ bitter cold
Got no song to warm my soul, Cuz sometimes
Sometimes, there might be sunshine
But it’s too damn cold for raining’
Like when the situations’ getting hairy
Like when the whole worlds getting scarry
Reapin’ what we’ve been sowin’ is comin’ to fruit
Bound to happen sooner or later, (we are but men)
But we still have a neighbor and have an enemy
Still have a brother that’s in need
Got a lot of work, got a lot of work to do
But keepin in mind
Sometimes
There’s gonna be some rainin’

Reap
By: Joe Morrow

I can’t put the cat back in the bag
It’s already been let out
If you don’t like what the cats’ about
Go complain to a stone
It’s just the truth the truth I know
For the bible tells me so
And history to boot
Just like the earth moves round the sun
And the moon catches our shadow
Some things are hard to be undone
If a nation rises it’s bound to fall
Judgement happens to us all
Even Rome fell
From its’ heaven to its’…
But it all gets so personalized
When we see it through our own eyes
First hand
Suddenly it’s like this has never happened before
This kind of hate this kind of war
Where have you been?
With first hand pain and first hand grief
You’re looking for some first hand thief
Look in the mirror friend and you will see
The steeler of your sanity
We should’ve known
Should’ve seen it comin
We should’ve known
We reap just want we’ve sown

I don’t wanna be one to criticize but good people open up your eyes
We never had that much security
But each next breath it is a gift and if that doesn’t help to uplift
Give me or somebody a call
But it all gets so personalized
When we see it through our own eyes
First hand
Suddenly it’s like this has never happened before
This kind of hate this kind of war
Where have you been?
With first hand pain and first hand grief
Look in the mirror friend and you will see
The steeler of your sanity
We’ve had too many partners in our beds
Whorin’ around and lost our heads
We should’ve known
Should’ve seen it comin
We should’ve known
We reap just what we’ve sown

I Can’t put the cat back In the bag it’s already been let out
If you don’t like what the cats about…

Screwed
By: joe morrow

If you see the writin’ on the wall
Please do not call
I’m beginnin to see quite clear
There’s some things I just don’t need to hear

But if it is as you say, we’re all screwed anyway
If it is as you say, I got some, got some livin to do
If it is as you say, how bout you

An open mind is hard to find because of what you gotta be open to
Nobody likes the changin’ even if the changings due
We’ve been here before people and I’m tellin you I hope we pull through

If it’s not as you say, we’re not screwed anyway
If it’s not as you say, I still got some, got some livin’ to do
If it’s not as you say, well how bout you

If you see the writin’ on the wall
Please do not call

Sponge
By: joe morrow

My mind
Is not your sponge
And my spirit
Is not for sale
You could not buy it anyway
Not for all of the oil in the world

I’m stuck here in this machine
Only because it’s where i landed
Causmic framers i must believe
Are laughin out loud
Sorry bout your luck
Oh my mind is not your sponge

Listen up peoples

i got this weapon of mass destruct
it’s called my instinct, hammer in my hand
if you haven’t been deafened people listen up
it just so happens most of us are smarter than the president
that’s not sayin much

and i’m stuck here in this machine
only because it’s where i landed
this countries framers i must believe
would be screamer out loud
it’s not how we planned it

SRNDP80’s Shore
By: joe morrow

Who we are and where we’re goin
Trustin travelers just headin home
And there’s wind for sailin and we own it
Underneath these mount carroll stars

Sail me away again
On towards serendipities shore
I’m drownin in the wind my friend
Wind full of sail and wanting more

In out tossed around boy we’ve known that
Kicked and fading, left to die
But rhythm and dancin’ help me unknow that
Wings all stretched out and ready to fly

Sail me away again
On towards serendipities shore
I’m drownin in the wind my friend
Wind full of wing and wanting more
I’m drownin in the wind my friend
Wind full of sail and wanting more

Strange (38 buck street blues)
By: joe morrow

Came home one night not more than three weeks ago
Turned on the light, the light won’t go
Ain’t got no gas-o-line to fuel this house
Sat round by candle light one night and got stone drunk like a louse
But I’m bored with that life in it’s complexities
I’m just a simple Man you see
It all leaves me
Feelin strange
Left out in life’s cold rain
Cold soaks through to my bones and it’s heavy on my brain

People ben passin on both left and right
Who we all loved so strong and damn the tears they fill our eyes
People been passin on both left and right
Who we all loved so strong and damn it’s hard to say good bye
And I try to sort through memories
Sort out the good and bad but it does not come with ease
It all leaves me
Feelin strange
Left out in life’s cold rain
Cold soaks through to my bones and it’s heavy on my brain

Two definitions of done
By: joe morrow

I sit and think about my human condition with relation to the truth
Strung along by some shiney red apple caught up in it’s pursuit
I’m not sure but maybe you know exactly what I’m talkin about

Until this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me I’m bein run
Until this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me I’m bein run

Little children won’t you listen close avoid this anxiety
The perspective that matters in living is living compassionately
That does not mean
That does not mean
Letting everything slide
It means building and shaping and changing and growing new knowing in life

Until this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me I’m bein run
Till this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me
I’m bein run

So much thought is put into investment of dollars
Way more than time or self
It’s a simple message already shown to be an abomination to wealth
And stackin whatever up so high that I can’t even see out
I’m not sure but I think you know exactly what I’m talkin about

Until this is done
Won’t find freedom
I’m not runnin me I’m bein run
Till this is done
Won’t find freedom

Watching the news
By: joe morrow

I’m just singin’
Out this heart of stone
Cold and empty
Has been condoned

I’m just bringin’
An ancient melody
Got no freedom
Got no peace
How many persecutions, so many souls to seize
How much destitution, how vast the raging seas
So empty is the living, no free will to express
When whispy words of hope only define the emptiness

I’m just sailin’
A meaningless sea
Amusement for the empty
But empty for me

Poems and lyrics by: Joe Morrow

Some written to serve anger
Some during times of revelation
Some written to serve peace
Some written to serve love
Some written in a search for understanding

All written with a deep desire for a fear shaped void cram packed full of hope, overflowing into and out of all of us, heart, mind and soul.

Hope you enjoy
Merry Christmas
