Kiba's Day Off

The cool breeze blew gently as the black wolf howled up to the sky. The huntress sitting beside him glances over to him as she stroked her hand over his back. She can feel the soft fur in between her fingers. She knew her friend was feeling happy today. It seemed that Nagrand was the place he really wanted to be. She could hear the birds singing from the top of the tree, where she laid her back up on it for rest. The quietness of Nagrand was starting to make the huntress have the urge to sleep. She tried her hardest to stay awake, knowing her beloved friend was coming soon to meet her. Alas she could no longer fight it. Her eyes had closed shut and had dozed off.

Kiba, the black wolf saw its master asleep had decided to join her when he suddenly heard a cry from a distance. He raised his head and pricked his ears upwards. He then turned his left ear to find where the sound was coming from. When he realized it was coming from the distance ahead of him, he turns his head to look at his master. He wasn’t sure whether or not to wake her up. He took a deep breath and finally decided not to bother her. He thought he could go and investigate on his own and be back before she even realized he was gone.

Off he went, dashing across Nagrands grassy lands, racing his way to reach the sound when he finally heard it one last time. It was coming from underneath the city of Halaa. There was a huge rock like monster, two of them to be exact, that was chasing an injured gnome. She had some sort of a protective shield consuming her entire body but it seemed as though it was beginning to fade. Kiba leapt into the air, landing on several rocks as he continued to jump from one rock after another, when he finally reached the ground. Dust burst as he made another quick dash to reach the gnome in time to rescue her. His fangs were bearing as he leapt and sliced the rock elemental on what seemed to be a face. The wolf whined a little as it had hurt at first. The gnome who lay on the ground gasped as she saw the huge black wolf attacking the elementals on his own. She had just enough energy to cast a protective shield over him and did everything gnomanly possible to stay awake.

Kiba realizes that the rock creatures did him no harm when ever they tried to strike him down, he then uses his Furious howl to bring his attack power up causing the elementals attack power to decrease. He then used his dash once again striking them with all dire speed and might. Slicing them with his fangs as he then pushes them down with his huge paws. To finish it off, Kiba then summons his most ferocious skill ever; Rage. The gnome became frightened as the wolf grew in size and glowed a furious red. She heard his growls like thunder roaring, as her lungs shook from within her small figure. She held her chest tightly when Kiba finally finished the rock creatures to their end.

Kiba, still in his rage form, turns and walks over to the small injured gnome. When he finally got to her she couldn’t control herself from passing out in the ground. Kiba tilted his head sideways and returned to his usual height. He then brings down his head enough to nudge the gnome with his muzzle on her cheek, checking to see if she would wake up. To his demise he soon learned that she was out cold. He whimpered to himself as he knew the day was passing and his master would wake up soon enough and find him missing.

He looks up and notices the city above them. Kiba gently squeezes himself from under the unconscious gnome and lifts her up, carrying her on his back. He looks back to see her and can feel the weight of her on his back, and he breathed heavily as her size deceived him. He slowly walks across the other side to go up the ramp leading into the city. One of the guards in Halaa saw the wolf carrying the gnome and rushed to help. As soon as the guard picked up the unconscious gnome and patted him on the head for a job well done, Kiba ran off to reach his sleeping master, hoping she was still asleep.

Hours later

“Korivy”

The sleeping huntress hears the familiar voice and wakes up. She looks up to see her beloved friend Stricktor standing in front of her. She yawns and stretches her arms, getting ready to get up.

“Your ready to go?”

Korivus was about to say yes when she suddenly hears a loud sound coming from the exhausted Kiba sleeping beside her. He was practically snoring and she knew that waking him up would be a waste of time.

“I guess he was a lot more tired than I was” laughed the huntress as she left the tired wolf sleeping on his day off.

Memories of a Rogue

At the age of three I first met a man I once thought was my father. Mother had told me once he was a rogue, but I never knew who he really was. My mother was drying up the clothes she had washed earlier with Karidad’s help. I remember walking up to him. The rogue who sat there eating something mother had made him. I was curious and most of all, wanting to know the truth. Mother spoke so highly of my father that I was just certain he was the one. The way she looked at him, talked to him and even spent hours with him. What was I to assume? Just the thought of it, that question I have always wanted answered. I remember walking to him holding to my druid kitty doll. I could never forget how nervous I was when I approached him. I only hoped that he would answer my question and take this curiosity from off my soul. Somehow, I couldn’t help but look back and wonder if I was even blushing over the thought of him saying yes.

I approached him a few inches away from him. I don’t recall him ever noticing me there standing, watching him eat. He looked as though he hadn’t eaten for days, course my mother was caring for him at the time. She had told me he was in some sort of attack that had wounded him and Karidad had healed him with her draenic powers. He was tall even though he was seated, leaning against the tree that lined up the clothes to dry. I do remember opening my eyes wide enough to take a really good look at him. I walked a few inches more to get closer, close enough for him to hear my question. Still eating I finally build enough courage to ask him personally.

“Are…are you my father?”

I became startled when I saw him choke. I even remembered when mother gasped and dropped the shirt she was about to hang. Karidad had rushed to bring him some water to help him from choking as he pounded his chest hard enough to make what he ate go down with ease. Then utter silence. I had felt all alone at that very moment as all their eyes stared at me. Mother, when I had looked at her, she stared at me with a concern look in her eyes. I was young at the time and I didn’t understand what the problem was. I only wanted to know if he was my father. He then looked at my mother and asked her

“You never told her!?”

My mother had looked down to him and then looked away, not saying a word. Karidad walked beside me as she escorted me away from them, telling me to go inside in her accent. I watched them both talking together while I walked inside my home, but it seemed more like they were arguing. Being so young I had wondered if finding out the truth of my father was so wrong. That night, he left. I saw him leave in his humongous black armored tiger, but before leaving, he held my mother close to him and kissed her on her cheek. He told her something in our language but I couldn’t hear what he had said. I held on to my druid kitty doll as I watched him leave through the forest. It was dark and I couldn’t see him anymore. Still watching out on the window, I heard my mother as she sighed. She walked back inside and I heard my door opening. It was her.

My mother had a concern look in her eyes once again when she suddenly smiled at me as she walked towards my bed and sat beside me. She held me close to her and kissed my forehead. It’s really sad to even remember how that once felt, since it’s been so long. But that night, I learned about the rogue mother had been caring for. She told me who he really was. I was a bit disappointed to hear that he wasn’t my father, but somehow relieved. I may have been a child but I knew then how to find someone attractive. I would not have blamed my mother if she herself felt the same way about him. So, I asked her. She laughed to herself and held me closer. She and I, we had such a good connection with one another. She told me her little secret, but…I won’t say what that secret is.

I really wanted to know the truth, so I couldn’t control myself when I had to ask her who my real father was.

“I was afraid you would ask me that one day, and here you are, wondering, wanting to know who he is…” Mother had pulled the hair from off my face and told me “Ori, I tried my best to be prepared for this and somehow, I just don’t know how to say it…but, I will tell you because you do deserve to know who he is”

She gave me his name and how they met. She spoke so lovingly about him. She even made me laugh when she made his life a living hell at times, but how they always pulled through the end. She even told me how he even risked his life many of times for her and no matter how many times he would tell her to run, she wouldn’t leave him behind. Her curiosity had caused them a lot of trouble but mother was always the exploring type. She even mentioned about her…Dancing lifestyle in an inn somewhere in Elwynn Forest. Mother told me she stopped when she saw he was hurt to see her dancing. At that age I couldn’t understand how bad it can possibly be to dance, till I got older and found out for myself. The “Lions Pride Inn”. I dreaded going there knowing what my mother had told me that night. Then, when it came to the part as to how he was no longer with her, she hesitated and then she looked at me, telling me.

“I think I’ll tell you that…when you’re old enough to understand”

I gave her the pouty face and she just smiled at me as she told me

“Oh no young lady, that’s not going to work on me anymore, it’s late and its time for you to go to bed”

She lifted me up, laid me down on my bed and tucked me as she kissed my forehead. I had to ask her one last question, just one more.

“Mommy?”

“Yes dear?”

She stood by the door, looking at me holding close to my druid kitty doll.

“Did you love daddy?”

From where I laid, I can remember how her eyes shined with the dim light of my room. I knew that question had made her feel good, yet very very sad to answer.

“He meant…the world to me”

I smiled at her and told her I loved her. She blew me a kiss, smiled at me and then blew the fire from off the candle. That night I slept well, knowing, remembering his name. Repeating it so that one day, when I got older, I can find him. I don’t know if it was a dream or if I had actually spoke out his name in my sleep, but I knew that I heard it out loud and made a promise that someday I would find him.
