THE RIVER

At end's day I drove to my haven
I stopped and got out of my car
I stood in silence watching the river
The sound of a friend of mine
It skipped over rocks with the strength of a child
Never slowing running free and wild
A game called run down the hill
Listening it caused my mind to be still
At end's day I drove to my haven
At end's day just to rest my old tired mind
I do it quite often I'm not ashamed to say
At the end day's struggles at the end of my day

THE FLOWERS

The flower of youth came and went like a flame
Burning brighter and brighter till it wasn't the same
The years have been kind and filled with delight
But they quickly seemed to fade out of sight
Advice to the young and advice to the old
Memories are like nuggets of pure precious gold
So gather them freely don't cost you a dime
boquettes of flowers stretched out across time
They come in all shapes they come in all sizes
There's bundles of joy there's bundles of laughter
There's bundles of love this bundle's yours
Take it my friend

THE STRANGER

He came in the night as I turned out my porch light He came to my doorstep and gave me a fright
Never seen him before so I guess you could say
He was a stranger happenchance to be passing my way
I offered him food and a place on the porch
He meowed a quick thank you and turned in to sleep
I gave him no name I got ready for bed
When I rose in the morning I found he was dead
I tarried awhile then I started to smile
His visit very short but oh so worthwhile
