Queen Of Darkness
By:Jessica Higgins
Sorrow can overwhelm you at any moment, and suddenly your heaven.... can turn to a hell worthy of the highest sinner, your life can flicker out and darkness can become all you know and all that comforts you. This is my story, I am Rose Lennea, soon to be Queen of Darkness. It all started in the small town of Villadea. I was living the life you see in your happiest dreams. Mother and father were so joyful, they would dance around the house with laughter, not caring who saw, or what they broke, I would just sit back and laugh, hope one day I would be that happy. “ Honey? Haaa haa “ my mother was catching her breath because dad was telling one of his corney jokes, I finished applying my pink lipstick and headed downstairs “ Yes mother! “ I said with a smile, I loved how she looked, she was wearing her blue peal earrings and the fitted dress that matched, it looked amazing on her, she always looked amazing. “Hey sweetie “ dad said with a sudden look of questioning “ Is that pink lipstick? You never wear make-up “ my mom nudged him “She is a girl, let her be, anyways sweetie, Sam called “ suddenly I was surprised, Sam was mad at me I thought, he asked me to the dance and I told him I said yes to Blake. “Ok, I will call him right now, thanks “ I rushed to the phone and dialed, how I missed Sam's voice, we had not talked for a month and I was anticipating this call , would we make up? Would we fight again? Suddenly after the third ring he picked up “Hello? Sam here “ I paused and said “hey Sam its... “ it an instant he was the same old Sam, way to happy, “Rosy! “ I was shocked, he was so mad, but now, now I thought somethings up, “Sam? Why did you call? I mean I wanted you to but... “ there was a long paused “Blake told me to tell you he had to cancel, but we can go, together now, right? “ I was now very nervous, he was my friend and that was why I would not go before, it is just weird, and I know he likes me I know... “Rose? “ Sam sounded suddenly worried, “sure Sam “ I said reluctantly, as if I needed him to think anymore of this friendship to be something else. “Thanks Rosy! We will have so much fun, my mom's calling got to go, really Rosy we will have a blast “ and before I could say anything he hung up. Great! I headed upstairs and locked the door, I just wanted to lay down, get things off my mind, then the phone in my room rang, a chill ran up my spine... my phone was disconnected. I answered slowly “Hello... “ a slow breathing came and then “the devil lies inside me, beware the darkness... “ then who ever it was hung up.
