Natalie ran through the darkened halls, that mad thing hot on her heels. She raced across the house, willing the front door to be unlocked. She hit it hard, the impact jarring. She fumbled at the doorhandle and let out a cry of desperation when it failed to turn.

Whirling back around, she faced the demonic creature. Its entire body was a mass of intertwined metal that fueled its hatred. It slowed to a stop in front of her, the great slim body nearly bending double so it could stare into her eyes.

Tears rolled down her cheeks as she gazed upon the horrific remains of Jacob. Her Jacob. She reached up and touched his cold face.

"Jake, please," she whispered with a voice that was dry from fright.

For a moment, just a split second, the creature's eyes turned a light sea green. Jacob's eyes. The radiant color flashed and then was gone.

Natalie closed her eyes and prayed...
