CHAPTER 1: THE RELIGIOUS FAMILY

“Why do we have to go to church so many times in a week?” I asked my mother.

 

“Child, hurry up and get dressed, or we are going to be late for service,” said the mother.

 

Pushing my mouth up and making a face, I walked into the room to put on her Sunday school dress, a pink cotton dress with matching socks and white shoes. I loved wearing that dress because it made her look pretty. “I am ready mother, but Keith keeps pulling my hair ribbons.

 

My mother yelled, “Keith don’t let me punish you. Leave your sister alone.”

 

“Okay, mother,” said Keith.

 

“Are you children ready? Let’s go,” said mother.

 

By then, Dad was outside revving up his motorcycle, Vroom, Vroom. Oh, it was so noisy! We were embarrassed as the neighbors looked out of the window, showing the faces of disgust and annoyance. But that did not stop my father from revving up his motorcycle for another fifteen minutes. As he rolled the motorcycle to the road and with the neighbors still watching, my father placed my little sister to the front and my two other little sisters and brother in the back
