Tony and Kathy Rowe were married for sixteen years, with four children: Jim twelve years, Jenny ten years, John eight years, and Johanna six years old. Tony was a Banker earning 6 figure salary in a Wall Street office in New York City, and Kathy was a stay home mother. Rowe’s family did everything together such as walks in the parks, hiking, and going on vacations.
Last summer, after returning from a vacation in Barcelona, Argentina, John became ill. He complained about a sharp pain in his right hip that made it difficult for him to walk, run or play. So, the next day, Kathy took him to the doctor. After examinations, x-rays, and an MRI test, the doctor concluded that John had a rare type of cancer on his right hip. The diagnosis was chondrosarcoma, cancer that starts in the soft tissue near the bones. Unfortunately, in John’s case, it was in his pelvis and hip area. Sad! Needless to say, the news was disheartening for Kathy to hear, but she held her composure for the sake of John. She did not want to frighten him.
