Chapter One
Ok mama are we done. Yes. Thankyou. I had just got undone packing my stuff cuzz i just moved to this town. I slipped on my shirt and basketball shorts and walked outside. I grabbed my basketball and strated walking. They had a park so i walked to it. I saw a whole bunch of people there. I saw a hoop that was empty so i walked over to it and started shooting the ball towards the hoop. Then a group of boys came up to me.
John: umm this is our hoop.
Me: oh well im here today and i dont see no names on it so
James: well we always play at this hoop so cane you move
Me: i can but i wont
Luke: you a smart ass
Me: thankyou
James: are you new cuzz we aint seen you around here
Me: yeah
Eddie: well welcome
John: eddie shut yo lame but up
James: well can you move
Me: yeah but can i play
James: no
Me: why you scared a girl gone beat you
James: no
Me: ok than you go first i passed him the ball.
James: john you one my team and eddie and luke yawl on hers.
Me: but yawl only got two players it wont be fair
John: we gone win so it doesnt matter
Me: ok whateves
we started playing and i made every shot. Pass the ball they yelled. I took control of the game and made every hoop. Then the game was over and the score was 15 to 10 and i made all 15 shots.
John: dang gurl you got skills.
James: she cheated
Me: no you just mad cuzz you lost with a girl
James: no im not
Me: are you getting mad
James: no but you are
Me: im perfectly fine
James: look just dont show up on our court again
Me: and if i do
James: something gone happen
Me: i pushed him then he pushed me hard and i fell on the concrete and my knee was scratched up.
Eddie: dang james all she did was push you a little bit
Me: i got up and ran i didnt care if they laughed at me, at the end of the day i may play like a boy but imma girl and a boy aint suppose to put they hands on no girl. I walked to my house.
Mom: oh baby what happened.
Me: i just ran upstaires and closed the door.
Chapter Two
I walked down the steps to get a bowl of cereal. Then the door bell rung. I looked out the peep hole. It was James and a lady. i opened the door.
Me: can i help you
Lady: no but james can
James: umm i wanna say im sorry for pushing you it was just i never had anybody beat me especially a girl.
Me: apology excepted
Lad: well thankyou oh and im james mom
Me: oh hi i said
James: well see ya
Me: yeah i said as i closed the door.
I walked back to my cereal and started to eat it. The my mom came downstaries.
Mom: hey who was at the door.
Me: umm it was james and his mom.
Mom: the boy who pushed you and scratched up your preety legs.
Me: mama stop acting wired and go upstaires cuzz imma bout to leave.
Mom: and go were
Me: for a walk
Mom: ok but i dont want you to talk with that james kid hes up to no good.
Me: mom shutup i threw a pillow at her and she walked upstaires.
i grabbed my basketball and was out the door. Then i walked to the court i saw james, luke, john and eddie just sitting on the bench. They called me over. I walked up to them. Umm what yawl want
Them: you wanna play with us
Me: nawl not really
John: well ok he passed the ball to james.
Jame: is you still mad about me pushing you
ME: no its just i dont wanna play
Eddie: why not
Me: cuzz i dont want to and i dont have to i started to walk
Eddie: well me john and luke fonna leave
James: why
Eddie: cuzz i gotta do chores and john and luke wanna eat you comming
James: nawl
They left. i was bouncing the ball up and down until james snatched it away from me. Give it back i said.
James: ok sorry
Me: look i dont mean to yell but me and you right now are not on good terms if you know what i mean
James: yeah but a girl so pretty like you i wish we could get alone
Me: i blushed and took the ball back
James: can we start over
Me: i wish we could
James: what do you mean
Me: i mean if there was a rewind button we could forget what happened but this is reality and in the real life you make a mistake you have to learn from it not just do a rewind and act like aint nothing happened.
James:Yeah you right.
Me: im always right remeber that i said
James: i will try
Me: i gave him a look and started to walk out the court
James: were you going
Me: im going for a walk
James: can i come with you
Me: if you want
We both started to walk and i saw this grassland it was huge. I walked towards it. Wow i said
James: whats so great about a stupid land of grass
Me: its not stupid i said
James: well it is to me
Me: do i care what you think
James: no not really
Me: i laughed.
James: well i dont know about you but im fonna sit down
He sat in the grass and i sat next to him. The wind wiped past my face like a wind storm.
James: so what made you like basketball
Me: well when i was eight my dad died of cancer and the one thing he left me was a basketball, it was so special to me. then one day i decided to shoot it in the hoop and i saw i had a talent.
James: well sorry to here about your dad but yeah you are pretty good but not better than me.
Me: i gave him a look
James: ok you are better than me but you only won cuzz i went easy on you now you remeber that.
Me: i laughed ill try i said.
He shoved me and i fell on the grass. then i pushed him down with me and we tumbled on top of each other until we landed on the other side of the grass. I got up. We both laughed. Then a man came out and yelled get off my lawn you stupid kids. We laughed and ran. We stoped at the end of the street.
James: that was scary
Me: yeah it sure was but the man was all like get off my lawn you stupid kids.
We both kept laughing
Me: i cant breathe i said
James: me either
We started to walk.
James: so you wanna come to my house
Me: no imma bout to go home
James: well before you leave remeber this
He kissed me. i kissed him back and we kept kissing. then i let go of him and walked home. My first kiss i thought.
Chapter three
I woke up at the sound of my mom yelling. I ran down the steps. Mom are you ok.
Mom: oh yeah i was just praticing for my date tonight when he suprises me.
Me: mom your dateing
Mom: oh umm honey you should sit down
Me: no i yelled your just trying to replace dad
Mom: no im not
I ran out the house. I saw luke,john,eddie and james.
James: hey kelly i got some good new
I kept ryunning i didnt have time to talk. I just kept running. Then i saw a sign on the court it said basketball try outs and i took the sign and sat on the bench and read it. Wow i could actually play i thought. I took the sign and ran home. Mom mom i yelled.
Mom: what is it
Me: i just found this sign and you know how much i love basketball and now i can play. look. i handed her the sign
Mom: wait you not mad anymore
Me: no but can i try out please please
Mom; ok steetle down but yes
Me: yes i shouted
I ran outside and jumped for joy until james and his crew walked up to me.
James; what you so exctied about just a mintue ago you was crying water
Me: well im trying out for basketball
James: wow thats good but
Me: but what
James: you cant
Me: why not
James: look you can be my cheerleader
Me: but i dont want to be a cheerleader i wanna ply ball
Eddie: i think you shoulpd your good at it
Me: thanks i walked away.
&
It had been 2 weeks and today i was meeting up for the people who tried out for basketball. I went to the Millwalk school and to the gym. I saw all hole bunch of boys and no girls. I walked up to the coach. Hey coach im here.
Coach: oh yes today kelly you play defense
Me: ok i said i was good at defense
Coach:Now everybody take your possesions
I took my posseison. one of the boys through the ball and i ran after it. i took the ball and drippled it to the hoop. score
Coach: whoa stop stop kelly come here
Me: did i do something wrong coach
Coach: no its just your a better defense than jmaes and hes been on this team for years
I smiled.
Then pratice was over. I saw james i walked up to him. hey i kissed him. he moved away. umm james is there something wrong.
James: yeah i dont want you playing basketball
Me: whu not i thought you would be happy for me.
james; look if you play we cant be together
Me: why i yelled
James: cuzz all the boys on the team talking stuff and sayin you a better player than me
Me: i am though
James: look i gotta go
I yelled to him is it me or basketball. I started to cry. When i meet someone they always end up hating me and i was likng james.
Chapter Five
James hasn't talked me since we been to pratice it has been 3 weeks and we have pratice every other day and all those days he hasnt said a single word. I decided to go for a walk since my mom was on a date. I walked out the door and tot he streets. i saw james. He gave a quick glimpse and kept walking to his porch. I ran up to him. Look james were a team and you cant stop talking to me forever. He gave me a look. Look james i cant help it if im so good.
James: look how about you just go
Me: i think your jealous
James: jealous of what. i dont want nothing you have.
Me: oh come on i see it right through you
James: look your dad died of cancer why would i want a life like that.
Tears started to run down my eyes. James looked up at me.
James: oh dont cry i didnt mean it like that.
Me: yeah i guess you arent jealous i started to walk still crying. Then james came up to me and kissed me. James if your trying to make it up dont even bother look i dont have to play stupid basketball if it means so much to you.
James: you would do that
Me: i gave him a disgusting look and just ran home. I couldnt believe him. I walked up the steps and turned on my radio. I just remebered the times how me and my dad use to play basketball. then i thought i dont have to be with james i wanna play ball and thats what imma do.
&
Coach: ok today we ahve a game and if we dont win dont get souped up just remeber we are a team. Yes we are said everybody.
Coach: now go kick some ass
We ran out to the court. The ball was thrown and i ran after it. the whole game i made points. then it was 3.9 seconds and somebody had to shoot the ball. I ran up on the boy and took the ball away from his hand and shot it in the hoop. Yeah everybody screamed they picked me up and walked me out the game. we had won. coach was so proud of us. Ok said coach lets go for pizza. We arrived at the pizza place and we all sat down. Everybody was talking except for me.
Rick: hey kelly you did the thing
Me: thanks
Rick: your a good defense
James: can you just shutup about the game already
Me: are you mad cuzz you didnt make the last shot
James: no but i know who couldnt make their last shot he said
RicK:who?
James: kelly dad
I looked up and threw my drink and cup at him. You jerk i shouted everybody was laughing. he got up and was about to hit me when coach came up.
Coach: whats going on
Me: nothing im just leaving. i walked out the door with tears down my eyes. then my mom picked me up and i got in the care.
Mom: so how was the game
Me: it was good
Mom: whats wrong you sound down
Me: nothing i just dont feel like talking. We arrived home and i went to the bathroom to take a shower and then went to sleep.
Chapter Six
I was over eddies house. We were all laghing. Then his door bell rung. He wlaked up and answered it. Then i saw james walk in the room.
James: you didnt tell me he would be here
Me: i could leave
Eddie: whats wrong with you to
James: no im fine
Me: me too
Eddie: than whats up with all the smart talk to one another
Me: james is mad because i can play ball better than him
John: so hes jealous
James: im not jealous
Me: than why do you keep hurting me and making me feel stupid for likeing you. Everybody looked at me. I just got up and headed out the door. James followed. I started to walk.
James: look im sorry i have been acting like a jerk
Me: yeah
James: look i like you to ut
Me: but what im ugly
James: no i think your the preetiest girl i ever met
Me: i smiled
James: look i guess i was jealous
Me: why your good to
James: yeah but you got better skills
Me: does it really matter i mean for weeks you have been making me cry because your talking about my dead dad
James: look that just came out
Me: well maybe you should keep that to yourself
James: yeah look we cool
Me: yeah we cool
Good he said. then he leaned over and kissed me. i kissed him back.
James: you wanna come to my house
Me: why
James: cuzz but you do0nt ahve to
Me: no i wanna go
Then we wlaked to his house. So were we going i asked. To my room he said.
We walked to his room
Me: wow your room is nice
James: tahnks
I saw all basketball posters everywhere. You really like basketball.
James: yeah i do
Then he kissed me and kept kissing me. He leaned me over to his bed and started to unbutton my shirt. Wait james umm. He kept kssing me. Relax he said. He went futher and then inside me. Then we was done. Then i said i had to go home. I walked to my house and went upstaires. I thought about what i just had done.
Chapter Seven
I walked to the court i saw luke. I walked up to him.
Me: hey luke.
Luke: what up
Me: nothing just pratcing for our game tonight
Luke: no need it got cancaled
Me: why
Luke: cause coach isnt feeling good he threw up twice
Me: oh well that sucks
Luke: look i know you and james are together in all but why
Me: what do you mean why
Luke: before you got here he had so many girls if you know what i mean
Me: but he doesnt have any of them now right
Luke: look i dont know
Me: luke you cant be telling the truth
Luke: wll i am just watch out
Me: yeah.
I walked to james house. he answered the door.
james: hey what you doing here
Me: look james we need to talk
James: sure come inside
Me: we can talk out here
James: ok
Me: look i walked to the court today and luke told me all about you
James: what did he say
me: that you a player and i should watch out
James: what thats insane
I gave him a look.
James: look thats not true and if your going to listen to that then go ahead
He walked to his house and slammed the door. I ran to my house.
I didnt know who to believe right now. But i couldnt worry about that i had basketball to worry about.
Chapter Eight
I was at pratice
Coach: does anybody know were james is
Luke: umm hes not comming today
Coach: how come
Luke: he cant
Coach: well hes one of the best players
Me: if you put me in the lead today coach i gurantee you it we will win.
Coach: we better now get in your lanes
&
After the game i walked to james house. He answered the door.
James: what do you wnat
Me: you didnt show up for pratice or the game what happened
James: look i didnt want to see you or luke
Me: what do i have to do with this your the one whose playing the games
James: what games
Me: look if your not going to show up for pratice cuzz something stupid than lose your scholarship
James: look you dont care about nobody but yourself. When were at pratice you never pass the ball you want to be perfect and your not.
Me: look dont get mad because coach never say your the best player
james: look its always a competetion with you
Me: no your the one whose jealous
James: jealous of what
Me: me i yelled
He slammed the door.
Me: yeah go in that house beacuse thats all you do is run away like a female. I walked home and slammed my door and took a shower and went to bed.
Chapter Nine
It was me Luke, Eddie and John. We were sitting on Johns porch.
John: luke what did you tell him
Luike: i didnt tell him anything
Eddie: look since you came james aint been the same
Me: oh so now its all because of me luke is the one who told me that he was a player and hes probably playing me.
John: luke why did you tell her that
Luke: it was the truth
Eddie: no its not
Then james walked up.
James: hey eddie and john you wanna come to the movies with me and kasha
They all looked at each other. I got up.
James: look whose the one runnin away now
Me: whose kasha
James: one of the girls i was cheating on you with
Eddie: should we go and let you to settle this
James: no your not going to leave because of her
Luke: look i lied it was just coach told me that you and james were spending to much time together and i had to do something so i told kelly that james was cheating on her so she could get her head in the game.
Me: really look what you done
James: luke dont ever talk to me again
Eddie: on the bright side you know the truth
Me: right now i dont. I started to walk off then james came up behind me.
James: look you herd luke he made that up
Me: so than whose kasha
James: i was being sarcastic
Me: i still dont believe you
James: fine believe what you want just dont come running back to me.
Me: i wont.
Chapter Ten
Pass the ball shouted james. i couldnt stand him so i passed it to somebody else. Our team was losing and it was 3 to 15. Then the score board rung and the game was over,
Coach: look i know we didnt win but what is up with kelly and james
Me: coach im sorry its just i wasnt in a good mood.
James; no you didnt pass the ball to me
Me: thats because you wasnt even going to make them
James: shutup
Coach; ok now stop it were a team and there is no I in team
james: whatever im outta here
Me: yeah run again.
Sfetr the game my mom picked me up.
Mom: so how was the game
Me: we lost
Mom: wow this is the first time how come
me: because that dumb boy james
Mom; i thought you to liked each other
Me: mom no hes so rude and i cant stand him
Mom: well ok than sorry to bust your bubble
We walked in the house and i went upstaries to the shower. Then i went to sleep.
&
A knock went at my door. I answered it, it was eddie
Me: what do you want
Eddie: look coach siad
Me: i dont care what coach said
Eddie: buit i thought you cared
me: i dont i dont i dont now leave
Eddie: im not leaving you and james need to talk to each other you guys are the best players on the team
Me: so im not going to talk to him
Eddie: why
Me: cuzz i just dont
I walked outside and saw james, luke and john.
Me: what is going on
Eddie: you guys will talk to each other
Me: you cant make me do anything
eddie: think about the game and your teammates
James: she cant shes so selfish and thinks nothing but herself
me: james you are so selfish why cant you except the fact im better than you
James: see what i mean shes crazy. Look kelly i dont want to be in a battle with you i just want you to be my girlfriend what more can i ask for.
I looked puzzled.
James: look that day you asked me is it you or basketball i didnt understand it but now i do and i pick you. But if your going to be a competion than i dont want that.
me: i dont have nothing to say
James: i knew it
He was about to get up when i walked over to him and kissed him. We kept kissing.
John, eddie and luke looked at us crazy.
John: so what about the game today
Me: we will win this one but after this im done.
James: what do you mean
Me: look i love basketball but i want to do something else
James: me too
John: after this game your quiting
Me: yeah
James: yeah
they looked at us crazy and we kissed again.
Then it was time for the game.
I passed the ball to all the teammated this time and we won.
Yes shouted coach.
We had told coach the news but he understood.
Chapter eleven
I saw this sign and it said tennis so i decided to call the coach and try.
james: so your doing tennis now
Me: yeah im going to give it a try
James: i know your going to be good.
Me: james is it me or basketball
James: you
Then we kissed and wlaked alone the tennis court.
