Fallen Wolves (First Series):

 Fallen Wolves #1: Dark Stars

 Fallen Wolves #2: Everlasting Shadows

Alliances of Fallen Wolves

The code and codiance of the Fallen Wolves Packs are simple. The ranks are a bit confusing but the higher ranks are more easier to understand. Every wolf has a special name. Like Sun in/of Sky. Sun is the first name for the wolf, being the nickname. It may get it's first name for it's personality, fur color or it's resemble to something. It's last name, or it's pure name, is resembled to it's first name. Like Branch of Trees. Branches are connected to trees, so it's last name resembles tree to branch.

Pup:

Pups are called by their first name after they are born. For example, Pebbles of 'Creek'. Pebbles is it's name untill it grows older, to a Hunter/ Defender. Pups don't move on to the next rank untill 5 months. The pups stay with their Carers untill then.

Trainee:

After 5 months on being a Pup, the wolf moves to Trainee. Trainees train to be a Hunter or a Defender or a Carer. One may be chosen to train as the Healer Trainee. Spirits pick on what their to train for. The Trainees train with about five or ten other pups that have the same goal. They have a Captain of the Trainees for that rank. They keep their first name.

Hunter:

After 7 months on being a Trainee, one wolf may be chosen to be a Hunter. Now, they are picked their names. The last name is chosen from the sample of it's first name. Like if it's name is Rock, it would be named Rock in Mountain etc etc. The Hunter is the one who goes on the Prey Patrols. They hunt elk, deer, rabbits, mice and other edible foods. They even collect fruit and berries.

 Defender:

Like the Hunter, the wolf changes it's name to it's Pure one after 8 months. The Defender defends the hollow (camp) of the wolves. They also go on Search Patrols around the territory to search for trespassers and other enemies, like hunting dogs, panthers, bears and other rogue wolves. Defenders take 1 month extra from the Hunters so they can learn all the quickest ways through the territory and the best moves to take down enemies.

Carer:

Carers are chosen their Pure name after 7 months, like the Hunter. Carers care for the newborn pups and sick wolves in the Infirmary underground of the hollow. All Carers are mostly females. When one female wolf gives birth to the litter, after a week of spending time of the Infirmary, the female goes back to duties and one or two Carers take care of the pups. Sick wolves are healed by the Healer and his/her Trainee, then the Carer takes over. Carers mostly stay in the hollow at all times and can't have mates and pups of their own.

Healer:

The Healer takes almost a year to be chosen it's Pure name. Spirits chose the Healer's name. The Healer has a cave out of the hollow and in the territory. It uses medicene herbs and berries to heal the sick and wounded. Healers live longer then any other wolf rank, given an extra life by it's ancestors. Healers can only have a mate if it's the Leader of the Pack.

General:

The General is the second in command of the Pack. The General takes over leadership when the Leader dies. The General is like any other wolf.

Leader:

The Leader is the top command of the Pack. The Leader's name is changed to "Leader" when it becomes one. For example, if it was called Moon in Sky, it would be called Moon Leader. The Leader lives long, but not longer like the Healer. The Leader can have any mate in any rank except the Carer. The Leader is in charge of battles, Patrols and any other things.

Prologue

Dark Shadows held his pose, eyes gazing over his marching horde. Pale moonlight glowed into his dark, wet cave that was looming above his Shadow Slaves. His snake like tongue flickered in and out as his ears pricked, hearing the wails of the dark.

It was like a lullaby to make one wolf dream horrible, bloody nightmares.

Dark Shadows tasted the air as he scented his Messenger, Saber, come in. The tiny black wolf tripped over his paws once or twice before regaining balance and facing his Lord.

"I've come with news, sir."

"Good. Tell me." Dark Shadows sheethed.

"Er.. our horde has ruled over Panther Border on the mountain, sir. Stupid cats we took over, sir." Saber reported.

"Aw, good." Dark Shadows murmured as his eyes shimmered. "One pawstep forward to victory. But you know what I really want?"

 "What, sir?" Saber asked, puzzled.

Dark Shadows swished around and pushed Saber into the ground. Dark Shadows large, shadowy paw was placed on Saber's throat as he leaned over, his breath reeking as he mumured to Saber's ear.

"That wolf. The one that has that power. If I can get him and squeeze it out of him, I may have a chance. My horde is strong, Saber, but not enough without his power."

"E-excuse me, sir, but what power does he have that we need so much? I think the horde is deadly and powerful to the way it." Saber gasped as he tried to breathe in the fresh air.

"Fool!" Dark Shadows snarled as he grasped Saber by the neck with his jaws and flung him into the wall. The stones cracked, leaving dents along the spot where Saber was thrown.

"He has the power to fly into past and future dimensions!" Dark Shadows snapped as his snake like tongue flickered out. "I need that power. One way, or another. I can become more powerful. I can fly into the past, and kill that Lupus when he was alive and started the Fallen Law. I can rule over the wolves, then. That power has the hunger for dark on it, but that wolf doesn't have a clue what it's for."

Saber slowly slid to the floor, falling on his head as he fell from the cracked wall. He stumbled to his paws, eyes clouded as he muttered. "Right."

Dark Shadows turned back to the window in his cave wall, watching his endless horde stomp below and do training. The moonlight washed the whole forest white as Dark Shadows eye sparkled.

"I will have that power. I will take it by force, blood or guts, pleasing him or doing whatever. I'll back down on the fight if I need too. I just need that power."

Chapter 1: Barrier of Protection

Fang helped Seed lower some knoted brambles beside the Infirmary entrance. Below, the Defenders were digging out a new large section underground and under the Defender den. It was the new spot for the Infirmary, where a tunnel will lead to the Defender den and one to the open hollow. It was for safety reasons, like when Dark Shadows striked with his horde.

"Hey, Fang, can we go eat for a while? We're pretty hungry." Shadow of Night asked as he padded from the tunnel with some other tired Defenders.

"Sure." Fang replied through a mouthful of brambles. "A Prey Patrol brought back some tasty looking rabbits."

"Thanks, Fang." Shadow barked as he padded to the Storage Chamber, followed by the other working Defenders.

Fang left Seed to finish the brambles as he padded to the Seniors den. Sand was stuffing leaves between the den's brambled cracks as Black was putting grass around the back.

 "Good job, guys." Fang barked.

"Thanks." Sand muffled. "This is a good idea, to get ready and stuff. I never thought of this."

"Yeah." Fang agreed softly as Sand padded inside the den.

Fang padded away as he saw Misty and the Trainees come in from a Prey Patrol. Misty padded over and nudged him a greeting, while dropping a huge rabbit in front of his paws.

"You should give this to Sun." Misty suggested. "With Pups on the way, she'll need some food to keep her strength up."

"Good idea." Fang replied as he grabbed the rabbit in his jaws.

Fang bounded away. He saw Misty gaze after him. Feather told him four months ago that Misty liked him. A lot. Fang didn't mind, but he didn't know if he liked her or not. He was too busy with Pack stuff anyway, like leader of the Hunters, and stuff.

Fang found Sun and some Carers basking in the sun, while the Pups played nearby. The Carers were talking about their Caring stuff as Fang padded over with the rabbit.

Sun rolled over to her paws. Her belly was rounder then a boulder, heavy with Pups. She gasped for breath as if the air was knocked out of her.

"Thanks." She sighed, taking in deep breaths as if talking was too much. "With these fiesty Pups, they would eat anything. Besides, I'm starving."

"Well, you'll love this rabbit." Fang replied as he dropped the prey in front of her. "Remember, if these Pups aren't born before the battle, you'll have to stay inside the Infirmary."

 "I know." Sun mumbled.

Fang could pitcure it if the expecting mother got clawed in the belly or got killed, it would be over for her and the Pups. Fang didn't want them to die, as if by costs.

"You know, this is harder then I thought." Sun muttered as she bit into the rabbit, swallowing the tangy flesh. "I'll be fatter then an elk before these Pups are born."

"You'll still be the best." A voice interrupted.

Tiger came padding around the corner, putting his nose gently to her belly. Tiger was Sun's mate, and the father of the future Pups. Tiger was a strong wolf, but way to lovey when it came to Sun and the Pups.

"Oh, shut up." Sun laughed, licking his ear.

Fang felt sick in the belly. Fang wasn't too keen on love and when other wolves shown to much affection, it made him go butter-flied.

Fang rose to his paws, quietly sneaking away from the two mates. Fang sighed in relief as he came met Acorn, who wasn't to sharp on love nonsense.

"Oh, hello Fang." She greeted through a mouthful of herbs. "Just restoring before the battle."

"Good idea." Fang agreed. "We'll need a lot of herbs before the battle. Hey, did you pick a Healer Trainee yet?"

Acorn dropped the herbs on the ground, rolling them in a leafwrap as she admitted. "No but I'm really hoping for one Pup. It's Star. She's focused, caring and very interesting in the herb arts. She may be perfect and I'll probably get to train her before the battle. So two paws will be helping in medical help, plus with Leaf, since she has some herb knowledge too."

 "Great!" Fang barked.

"You know, Sky Lupus came to me in a dream last night." Acorn broke in as she grabbed the herbs in her jaws again. "He say's that Dark Shadows is close, but we have a lot of time to get ready."

"Good." Fang murmured as he dipped his head. "This new construction isn't easy. But thanks, Acorn, for the news."

"No problem." Acorn replied as she padded back to the forest and to her cave. She stopped shortly before she turned.

"Fang, could you talk to Star for me tommorow? Try to convince her to settle her path as a Healer. Or try too."

 Fang nodded. "I'll try."

Acorn nodded before she turned and pushed into the undergrowth. Fang watched her go.

The barrier of protection. That's what my Pack is making.

Chapter 2: The Path of Herbs

Fang led Star into the forest. Star bounced after him, panting in excitement. Fang knew he couldn't lie down Acorn. Besides, they would need all the help they could get if the battle outraged with deep, bloody wounds.

Star pounced on some bugs, like butterflies and crickets some times. Then she'd get right back to her pawsteps with a warning glance from Fang.

Fang led her to the crystal pond where Snowflake, his dead Carer who got shot by a Being many months ago, took him when he was a Pup.

Fang paused, taking a deep breath as Star sat down, her tail wrapped around her front paws. Fang turned to look at her.

"Star, I have something to tell you. I wouldn't ask most Pups this, but this is important and you must agree to it."

"What is it?" Star asked, her tongue lolling from her mouth as her head cocked sideways.

Fang hesitated. Would she agree? Most Pups had dreams on hunting large elk or fighting large rival wolves from the hollow. Most would never think about sorting herbs and being in a cave alone in the territory. Besides, Star was energetic and full of dignity. A Healer would have those kind of traits... right?

Fang sighed as he began. "Star, the battle that's coming up is going to be dangerous and... bad. Many wolves will be injuried, having gruesome wounds or fatally bleeding. Now... now it's important that you must agree to this. Will... will you be Acorn's Trainee and become a Healer Trainee?"

 "But-"

"I know, I know." Fang interrupted. "It's stupid. But this battle is going to be bloody. We need all the spare paws we can get. Acorn's been observing you and thinks you'll be great. You'll still learn to hunt for yourself and defend yourself, but herbs are easy to learn. Acorn will teach you all you know. It'll take longer to train, but it'll be worth it. What do you say?"

Star was silent. Fang could tell she was thinking.

"I-I don't know." Star sputtered out. "I always wanted to be a Healer, but a Hunter too. They can both help my Pack. I just don't know which rank."

Fang nodded slowly. We was now the Lead Hunter, and he knew what she was feeling. He wanted to be a Defender at first, but accepted the fact that his rank was his rank. Star would need to understand, too.

"You can hunt for the Pack, too." Fang told her. "I mean, after your done with your Healer duties you can help around the hollow. To be the Healer is a big choice but you can help your Pack in many ways."

"Really?" Star asked as she stood up, her tail wagging. "Great! I'll accept."

Fang dipped his head. "Good choice."

Star's eyes sparkled. Fang could tell the Lupus destined her from birth to be a Healer. Fang knew Lupus was on his side for the battle.

Fang rested his tail tip on Star's shoulder gently. "Let's go back to the hollow and get some prey."

Star nodded as he led her to the forest, bouncing excitedly.

Chapter 3: Frostpaw's Idea

Fang padded back to the hollow, letting Star run to her littermates as he padded acorss the clearing. Storm, his father, was nearby, licking a few scratches he got from a thornbush. Fang ignored him, remembering how Storm lied to him when he was younger.

Fang saw Muddy and Frostpaw, the two rogues, carrying vines to the entrance. Fang caught the two rogues four months ago near Star Gulley Creek. Both were cannibals in the past, eating dead wolves bodies that floated down the river. Luckily, Fang caught them before they ate Snowflake's body greedily. Now, they were respected members of the Pack, keeping their old names and changing their ways. They knew how to fight and hunt now.

Fang walked over. Muddy lowered some vines down in a pile, as he flashed Fang a friendly glance.

"Fang, old buds!" Muddy exclaimed as he jogged over. "I helps with the contructions. They can' do its on their own's, the old slops!"

Muddy and Frostpaw had bad grammar. Seed tried to educate them, but the two rogues were used to talking in Rogue Language. Fang didn't mind and the rest of the wolves thought it was amusing. But they never told the rogues, of course.

"Hey, I'm helpin's too." Frostpaw hissed as he prowled over, his tongue covered in sticky juice from the vine. "This juicey is nasty. I'ma go clean it offs by the puddles."

Fang nodded as Frostpaw padded over to a nearby puddle, his tongue lapping at the water to wash off the sticky sap.

"You knows, I loves it in a Pack." Muddy barked. "It has carin' wolves, nicey friends, plentiful foods and warms beds. It's heavens!"

Fang sighed. "Not for long. Muddy, a battle is brewing. Soon, this place will be a bloody battlefield, with slashing teeth and claws and blood soaked puddles."

"You dun knows thats." Frostpaw pointed out as he padded back, his tongue clean now. "It mays happens out in the forest or in the rivers."

"It can't happens in the river, mudbrains!" Muddy retorted. "We woulds all be swepts away by the currents!"

"Frostpaw's right." Fang suddenly brought up, his ears pricked. "We could fight on the shoreline, or in the shallows and even on the stepping stones and boulders."

Frostpaw shot Muddy a proudful glance. Muddy bit back a sharp snarl.

"But hows?" Muddy asked, determined to prove Frostpaw wrong. "I means, we would all drowns or be dragged unders before we could bites each others."

"We have claws. We can hold on. Besides, shadows don't like water. We would have an advantage." Fang replied evenly.

 Muddy snorted.

Fang turned, flicking his tail as he called. "I'm going to tell Moon Leader. She'll probably consider it!"

Fang started to pad up the ivy covered boulder to Moon Leader's den. He saw Muddy and Frostpaw scuffling, battering each other. He sighed in amusement.

Chapter 4: Moon Leader's Confession

Fang padded inside the cave of Moon Leader's den. It was dark and quiet inside. The circular hole in the wall that let in sunlight was patched up by a sheet of lichen. Fang saw old bones and scraps of fur from eaten prey in a pile next to the wall. A sadness hung in the cave's air.

Fang shook his pelt. The wind that brushed on the top of the den made in eerie, ghostly noise. Fang felt uncomfortable as the air in the den was moist and a bit tight.

Fang saw the outline of an humped creature in the back of the den. Fang paused before he softly barked. "Hello?"

The creature stirred and Fang reconized Moon Leader. She was in a small mossy nest in the corner, on a short pile of sand.

"What it is?" She asked. Fang saw that she looked...horrible. Her fur was dirty and prickled out, as her eyes were larger then usual. Bones shown through her fur and she had a nasty looking scratch on her shoulder. Her voice was quiet and raspy.

Fang's neck fur rose as he asked. "What happened to you, Moon Leader?"

"Nothing. I'm fine." She replied as she rose to her paws.

"No, no your not. Something's wrong." Fang argued.

"Nothing's wrong, ok?" Moon Leader growled suddenly. "Stop asking me that! I'm fine, I'm ok, I'm great, happy?"

Fang flattened his ears. Moon Leader's yellow teeth were bared. Fang never saw her look so furious. Fang sighed.

"Moon Leader, why are you always so sad? I've never seen you joyful since I was even born!"

Moon Leader looked away. Fang heard rumors that before he was born, Moon Leader had a crush on the past Healer, Edge of Cliff. The Seniors said she was always happy. But until Edge was killed by a grizzly bear, she turned slowly sorrowful and quiet. Fang was tired that she never came out of her den only to go hunt small meals or do any ceramonies. Fang knew that she was upset and loved the past Healer very much.

"You have to let him go." Fang murmured softly as his tail tip gently rested on her shoulder. "He's gone. You have other duties now. You have to help your Pack get ready and fight to the last breath. Edge would want you too."

Moon Leader drew in a sharp breath as she turned around to face Fang. "It's not that! I know Edge would want me too. I've gotten over his death."

"Then why are you always do sad?" Fang questioned.

"I'm not sad." Moon Leader shot back. "I'm troubled. Have you ever noticed? I don't whine every day or whimper. I'm thinking."

Fang cocked his head. Thinking? For so long?

"Why?"

"Sky Lupus sended me a omen." Moon Leader explained as she sat down, eyes troubled. "About one wolf to can save us all with his special power. That wolf's in my Pack. And there is... a Second One. To help that wolf. Fang... I think the first wolf is you. You have that special power, strength, speed and ability to.. well... you know."

Fang nodded. "I think your right. I mean, I'm faster then most wolves, stronger and I seem to know more things than other wolves do. But... but who's the Second One?"

"I don't know. I'm studying each wolf closely. It's all confusing." Moon Leader confessed.

Fang flexed his claws. Sky Lupus destined the Second One to help him with his power and his own omens. But how could that wolf help him when he didn't know who it was?

"Look out for the Second One." Moon Leader told him as she got up and walked toward's the entrance. "It's in our Pack... right under our noses. But we can't see it."

Chapter 5: Battle Training

Fang watched as the Trainees bowled into each other, pawing each other roughly. The Hunter Trainees were practicing battle moves. It was wierd but they needed to know some battle moves to fight in the battle. Every wolf would help in the war.

Fang saw Star's littermate, Boulder, crash into Star, biting her nose playfully. Star rolled over, battering his belly with her hindpaws. Their excited squealing shook the air as they crashed into each other.

"Would you be squealing in joy if one enemy slashed through your flesh with it's claws?" Thunder of Day, one old Defender, snapped as he prowled forward.

The Trainees stopped tussling. Silver padded forward, pelt pricked out from the fight. "No, sir."

"Exactly." Thunder huffed. "You would be angry and in pain. You would want vengenace. So, you would fight back."

The Trainees nodded. Fang bunched his muscles as he called out. "You would start a surprise attack move like... this!"

Fang launched himself at Thunder, sending the black wolf off his paws. Dust rose into the air like a cloud, as Fang held Thunder down, nipping at his throat.

"Since this is a battle between life and death, you would bite your opponent's throat and hold it, like you would attack fresh-kill. Then, their dead." Fang explained.

Fang let Thunder back to his paws, who muttered in anger from the sudden move. Fang flashed Thunder a glance. Of course, Thunder knew more about battle then Fang. But Fang wasn't trying to show off, but was trying to teach the younger wolves.

"I hope I can kill Dark Shadows." Robin, one Trainee, barked excitedly. "He'll be crying in horror and whimpering to his mummy!"

"No, I'll kill him!" Boulder shot back, his voice loud. "I'll make his grandwolf cry in pain!"

Fang felt his fur bristle. Of course, they were young and didn't know how much trouble Dark Shadows was. They would all be killed. Fang could only defeat him.

"Hey, Romeo, done dreaming?" Thunder muttered to him. "Let's teach these Pups."

Fang nodded.

Thunder raised his voice to the arguing Trainees. "Okay, rooks, get on your paws and do belly roll moves with a partner! Show us what you know."

The Trainees raced around, picking out partners. Soon, they were all in a line, one partner of the other side and the partner of the side. After some moments, they leashed out, the first partner attacking and pinning the other.

The second partner lashed out his or her hindpaws, battering the first partner's belly until the partner jumped off. They all did it twice before going in a straight line, still as stone.

Thunder winked to the puzzled Fang before he howled. "Do the practice killing bite! No real teeth biting or your out!"

The Trainees suddenly zoomed again, going into the same line. After a few heartbeats, the first partner jumped to the other. They nipped and pawed each other, like a real fight, before the first partner flung out, wrapping his jaws around the second partner's neck.

Fang bit back a frightened yelp before he realized that the Trainees weren't biting, just holding their necks. The second partner hung limply, ears pricked for more instructions.

"Aw, good. You'll all do just fine." Fang sighed. "You could learn these moves for you hunting patrols. It'll come in handy."

The Trainees nodded. Soon, Fang dismissed them. They all tumbled over one another, racing to the Infirmary and to their Carers paws.

"Trainees," Thunder sighed, "gotta learn to love them."

"Yep. I think their ready for the fight." Fang admitted. "I mean, their battle moves were good. Better then usual, actually."

"Yep. Dark Shadows better run before he has no tail!" Thunder replied.

Chapter 6: The Rotten Omen

Fang licked his paws as he drove them over his neck fur. He was giving himself a nice, smooth bath. The battle training got him dirty, with flecks of dirt, dust and grass longed into his pelt. Misty offered to help but Fang said he could do it on his own. He wasn't a Pup and didn't need another wolf's tongue driving down his fur.

Fang saw Storm looking at him from across the clearing, his eyes sorrowful. Fang didn't meet his eyes.

Storm told Fang when he was just a true Hunter that his mother was another wolf from another rival Pack. Storm said that he took Fang in, because his mother gave him up from some other reason. Fang was furious, angry at Storm for raising him in a lie. Now, Fang ignored Storm and mostly went on any patrols without Storm's shadows.

Fang saw a Prey Patrol come in. Some wolves crowded around, looking hungry for some meat. Fang felt his belly rumble, but he would eat later.

"An omen, you say? It does look like it." Acorn's voice rumbled from the group.

Fang rose to his paws, curious as he padded over. The wolves were surronding two dead squirrels. One had black fur and another had brown. The squirrel with black fur had blood around it's muzzle while the brown squirrel had a bad bite on the back of it's neck.

"An omen?" Fang asked, pushing his way to the front. "Of what?"

"We found the squirrels attacking each other." Fawn of Valley, one Hunter, explained as she rolled over the brown squirrel. "The black one was biting the brown one. It looked strange, so we killed them and brought them back."

"It's an omen. From Sky Lupus!" Leaf exclaimed.

"What does it mean?" Fang pushed.

"The black squirrel, is Dark Shadows." Acorn murmured, ears flattened and eyes cold. "The brown squirrel represents our Pack. We-we need help. Dark Shadows is stronger and is going to get closer... and closer... until snap! We'll all die."

The wolves murmured to each other, flashing each other frightful glances. Fang felt his heart sink to a stone.

Acorn was wrong. The brown squirrel was him, dangling limply in Dark Shadows bloody jaws.

Fang gulped as sweat trickled down his pelt. Fang looked at his Packmates, eyes wide as he licked his dry chops.

It was him.

He would perish in the jaws of the Dark Lord.

He needed to find the Second One.

Chapter 7: Hunt Fight

Fang laid in the sun, letting it's rays soak into his fur. He was lying in the middle of the clearing, where the sun was warmest. He was taking a short break and a relaxing moment from his duties and mind. The omen yesterday with the squirrels troubled him. Sky Lupus was breaking and was begging him to find the Second One. Maybe a relaxing, warm sun bask will relax his mind.
